No list for these... too many to list. This was a Craigslist deal.
$100 + 2 copies of Wario Ware (gcn), 1 copy each of Psychonauts (Xbox and PS2) + 1 copy of Zelda Collectors edition. I spent $5 on each game so a total of $125
Got me 209 Playstation games. All complete or sealed. Notables such as Persona 2, DDR Konamix and Disney Mix, Tales of Destiny 2, Capcom vs SNK Pro... and more.

I'm pretty sure that there are online tutorials for replacing the labels on cartridges if you can find a hi-res scan of the original...I know I've seen one for N64 games; I imagine that the technique would be similar for Atari games, but I imagine that finding a hi-res image of a label for a cartridge released 30 years ago with a print run of 125 would be far more difficult.

I have a couple stories from yesterday
I had some time today after work to kill so I went to Goodwill to look around. I am lucky I did. I walked by this and then stopped after I processed what it was. I had found:
Nintendo Popeye Tabletop Game and Watch
I paid the $5 that was marked on it and it works great.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2530152481/
I stopped in on a little thrift store I had neglected for quite some time. I started snooping around when I came across a came case. I pulled some games out of it and then kept walking. I then found a pretty cool VHS tape. So This is what I had found:
Contra Hard Corps (Genesis Complete)
Star Wars: Rebel Assault (Sega CD Complete)
Sega Saturn Multigame pack that included Night into Dreams Sampler, Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA, and the Bootleg Sampler CD (Sega Saturn Complete)
Fatal Fury VHS
I was unable to haggle at the store but I got all these for $9

I then went to another sale, which had overpriced crap, but I found a Nintendogs DS holder and book for .25 each. Can't wait until tommorow when all the good stuff is up for sale.

Now that the yardsale season is in full swing, check out Dom & Liz's Visual Route Planner (http://yardsales.lizndom.com/pivot/entry.php?id=102)!
The VRP was created to solve a problem that has afflicted us for years. Every week, we needed to plan out a route, and find driving directions between 30-60 unique addresses. This process would often take hours to complete, and after doing it for so long, we figured that there had to be a better way. Now, with the VRP, we can complete this process in minutes!
The VRP has proven extremely helpful so far in the 2008 season!

We hope that this application saves you as much time and effort as it does for us. Please feel free to give us feedback and let us know if it works for you!

I used that a couple of times, its a nice change of pace from Google Maps.
But the other day I said screw it, and threw down $100 for a GPS (Magellan 3200, $130 refurb on buy.com - $10 GCO - $20 rebate). Gas ain't cheap, and time is money. Wrong turns and misread directions are a big expense with gas at $4 a gallon and a few minutes the difference between snagging or just missing an amazing deal.
I'm sure this will have paid for itself by midsummer.

Wow, today was a pretty amazing day. I left at 8:00, and pretty much all sales had something video game related that I bought. This is what I bought.
N64 RF Modulator- .50: Lady wanted 1.00 originally, but I offered .50 and she toke it. There was also a PS1 with no hookups, but I already have two PS1's so I didn't need another.
Bag of stuff that included: SNES Game Genie, Honeybee Famicom to NES converter (YES!), tons of random sega and playstation hookups, two japanese unlicensed Saturn memory extendors, PS1 memory card, another more complex memory card, some Saturn controllers, a Saturn game, Gameshark VHS, and Namco PS2 controller with circular thing. Guess the price? 1 dollar. Yep, when I was looking at the bag, the lady said I could have it for a buck, so I snatched it immedietly. I was wide eyed when I found the Famicom to NES converter because I have always wanted one.
Star Fox 64, MLB 2001 and Star Wars Rogue Squadron all N64: $1
Shrek PS1, Halo Disc Only, PGR Disc Only- 2.25
Spiderman, Ace Combat 4 and Twisted Metal 4- $3
Super Mario Sunshine Disc Only- $1
Gameboy Advance with no battery cover- $1
Original Gameboy with 4 games (YES TETRIS) and batteries (yes I am a cheapass about batteries too)- $2
PS1 Disc only Surfing game- .50
So yah, it was very exciting today, and I am thinking of buying some Famicom cartridges to test out the Honeybee converter.

Here we go. I left after 8am went to my first sale about 6 miles away that listed games and ps2 stuff on CL. Missed all teh games by about 5 minutes
Two other sales later one close, anoher about 5 miles of highway driving I was gettin slighty pissed. But as I leave the neighborhood I spotted another sign, followed it and what did I see.
FFVII GH and mint for ps1 $3, CIFed him $1 and I left
Started back home got to my apartment and decided to walk to another sale
Got a disc only copy of GTA vice city for ps2 for $1
But the biggest find of all a Colecovsion, like new, box was a little beat up, has 2 controllers, 3 games, no rf adapter though. It has the expansion port to turn it into a pc, and to play Atari games.
They wanted $30, I opened the box closely and told them there was no rf adapter. They dropped down to $25, I said "Can I leave you my number for later?"
He said "How much to get you to take it now?" I said "$8." He counted with $14. I said $10 he said 12, so I took it at 12.
Colecovisions will go for about $50 or more on ebay. And the FFVII GH will go for $40-$50 on ebay. I'll add both items to my TL for a few days if you want them make me a good offer. Also this is the third copy of FFVII I've found in less then a year.
Pics coming as soon as my batteries are charged.

Nice! I tried some Friday sales today. They all sucked huge balls, I think its a regional thing -- the only people who would have them during the week (and that I saw today) were housewives with young kids (otherwise, they probably would have a job -- cost of living is pretty high around here) or retired old ladies, all of which casually discussing the sales they had the year before and their next sale for this summer. Certainly not a demographic that would have games to begin with, and with the frequency of their sales, the likelihood of having any left by this point would be nil.
I did get to try the GPS though (I received it the day after I ordered it with free shipping. buy.com rocks!). The few extra moments of entering addresses into it is time well spent. It looks like the most effective technique is going to be using Dom & Liz's Route Planner to get a feel for how far each point is from each other and compile an ordered list of stops to hit with notes, and using the Magellan for actual directions/guidance while driving, since Mitsu won't be around to copilot on Satudays this summer.

I had an okay day considering my luck recently. In terms of game stuff, it was a horrible day. I only found MGS (GH PS1) and two old pokemon guides in poor condition for $2. The first sale I went to had games, but nothing I needed. They had Army of Two (PS3) for $25, but I passed since I doubted I get them down enough that I could flip it for a good profit. My main find of the day happened at large sale in side a shopping center. I found a Pioneer CLD-D503 Laserdisc player for $5. I had been wanting one of these for a long time, so that made my day and made up for the lack of games the rest of the day. It's really feeling like its drying up.
I'm probably not going to be able to do yard sale for much longer. I've graduated from college and have to find a job. Sadly, almost all the sales in this are start on Fridays. The stuff here goes really quick, so it really won't be worth it to go out on Saturdays.

You have a local game store that sells older stuff? That's neat...its entirely GS & EB competing with GC over here, I'm fairly certain any independent places near me have long since been driven out of the market by them.

And everyone else better stay off my island!
This wouldn't happen to be Long Island, would it? I really hope we're not competing with each other, unknowingly of course...

Greetings - first time here. This thread and this community has given me a second and more serious wind when it comes to garage sales. I go out almost every saturday morning.. but I'm usually late (9/10am)
Today (It's 4:40am saturday) I am all over it.. leaving the house at 7:30, with my list of of sales around here and their reported starting times. There's a strong amount of things going on and I feel like showing up early or on time will change my luck. I'm also gonna break out the CIF on people for the first time.. and ask about things not on display outside.
I usually buy books and records.. the most abundant / frequent things I am interested in- and I find cassettes and CDs and minor amounts of video games every now and then.
Here's what I've gotten so far this year, video game wise
Garage Sale 1
-
Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete for PS1 <-- Has the fancy paper box w/ velcro, but is missing one of the game discs as well as all of the accessories that came with that whole package
PS1 (SCPH-1001) system <-- no hookups and two third party controllers
Total price: $10
Not too hot, but, when I spotted Lunar sitting on the table, I nearly lost all composure and hurried noticably towards it. "What are you doing here?!?!" was all I could think as I picked it up and fondled it. I also picked up an incomplete copy of the Hero Quest board game here for $2
Garage Sale 2
-
Gameboy Advance (White) <-- I suspect there will be scratching on the screen
Gameboy Color (Clear) <-- again with the scratches
Gameboy Advance Official Carrying case
Gameboy Color Official Carrying case
Super Mario Bros for GB Color
Total price:$13
So.. I'm not doing as good as I could be on these things, so, I'm putting on the game face today in hopes of pulling off the level of performance I see happening here ;)
Thanks for all the stories and tips!
Will report back after todays run

Well, the neighborhood across the road was having a neighbor-hood wide sale. But it's a HUGE neighborhood. I biked all through it and got some good deals and handed out my number to a few people who said their son was asleep.
Sale 1: Scored PaRappa The Rapper for 50 cents! Complete, but cracked case. Easily fixable.
Sale 2: Some Soldier of Fortune PS2 game for 50 cents.
Sale 3: Metal Gear Solid: Substance for $5.
Sale 4: Destroy All Humans 1, Destroy All Humans 2, Ratchet 2, Ratchet 3, Jak 2, FFXII, Jak X Combat Racing for $15.
Sale 5: Silent Hill 2 and Sopranos Limited Edition for $4.
Not a bad day! Score of the day goes to PaRappa.

Up and down day today. Two of our best-looking sales (the two furthest from our house of course) turned out to be no-shows, so that wasted most of the morning. We did learn a valuable lesson though; never go further than 10 miles or so from your house without an RSVP. Lesson learned!
On the plus side, our first stop of the day yielded a couple of nice finds:
Spryo 2: Ripto's Rage 50 cents
(Complete, but worn. A favorite of my sister/navigator though, so we grabbed it)
Spider-Man 2 Enter: Electro 50 cents
Mega Man Legends 2 50 cents
(Disc only, but still a good find. It's going right on Goozex)
Also picked up a couple of Calvin and Hobbes books for 50 cents each. All in all not a terrible day, but we'll definitely be planning our route a little more carefully next time.

Today was a bad day for yard sales. All the game stuff I saw some lady with SNES and XBOX bundles that wanted ebay prices, and some PC games.
The pawn shop makes up for that though. I got:

$3 each.
W00t tetris ds for $3!

Here is a pic of my only good find from yesterday.
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/4740/1007563reducedjk7.th.jpg (http://img124.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1007563reducedjk7.jpg)
I already put the laser disk player in my entertainment center. Those cables hanging down from the ps3 are going to my component selector. I haven't taken the time yet to run the cables back behind my setup. The laserdisc player works good. I watched Star Wars on it yesterday. I'm happy to have one since I've been looking for years to find one for a good deal.

They do not have them anymore. The best I ever got from them was 10 or 11 FFVII GH sealed for $5 each. I buy from their parts store. They don't have much right now. I really wish I would have bought more of the FF7s. I only have one with a cracked case left (sealed).

First time I've pulled my bike out in 2 years...I rode it 18 miles all together today, and up a TON of hills to go to a total of 6 sales.
The best sale was the first one, had a bunch of xbox games for $10 each, and GBA games for $5 each.
I picked up Secret Window (DVD, wanted $3), Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (GBA, wanted $5), and a GBA power adaptor (Wanted $2, I really needed a new one) for a total of five bucks after a buttload of haggling.

Not all that much today, barely anything gaming related, however, some good deals otherwise.
Ihome 2go player - $15
The place where I got this from smelled of weed. XD
Still a great deal though, these retail for 60-70 bucks.
Xbox 360 HD-DVD player - $12 + tax
On clearance from Kmart
Clayfighter Sculptors Cut - $6
More than what I would pay otherwise, however, this is a tough game to find for the N64, so I sucked it up and paid the price.

Only went to about a dozen sales this weekend. First sale I went to had "Sega Game With Games" advertised. I probably got to the sale about 5 minutes after it started and when I asked about games they mentioned the Sega being sold which somebody must have bought well before the sale started as it was long gone.
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4162/yardsale53108gp2.th.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=yardsale53108gp2.jpg)
NES (Lid Broken Off)
AC Adaptor
1st Party Controller
Ice Hockey
Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt
Super Mario Bros. 2 (hair stuck to it yummy!)
Tetris
$2
I asked about video games at a sale and they had this NES stuff, it wasen't actually put out for sale but it was under a bench which had abunch of books they were selling. The girl said she didn't think it worked hence the reason why it wasen't put out with a price but they wanted to get rid of it when I asked. I offered $2 for it. I'm just glad that this NES is missing the RF Adaptor (instead of power) as it seems as if most NES systems I find at yardsales are missing the power adaptor or even have some makeshift power adaptor that acts up if it does work with an NES.
I forgot to take a picture of it but I also got a Sonic The Hedgehog plush at one sale marked $1 offered .25 which was taken.
I also left my name and number with a guy that said he had a NES. One thing that kind of scared me is that he asked me how much I'd be willing to pay for it without telling me anything about it. I said I don't know and it would depend on how many games it had with it which he said it had about 25 games.

Saw a handful of Cube games here and there.
One house had a Halo Xbox, but I didn't really care and didn't notice the price, as someone was buying it as I sat pawing through the substantial game collection. Nothing worthwhile though.
I paid a quarter for a booklight, and my husband paid a dollar for a chili-shaped salsa dish, and I ALMOST paid 50 cents for a Tupperware bento box, but decided against it in the end.

Today was quite interesting! I had planned to leap out of bed in the wee hours of the morning and be on the road by 8, getting breakfast before hitting up some 8 AM sales and showing up early for some 9 AM ones on my way up to a community about 25 minutes away that was having a block sale.
Unfortunately, I woke up, hit snooze, and my alarm never went off a second time...nor did my failsafe second alarm clock. Fortuitously, as I later learned, it had ended up pouring between 8 and 9:30, and apparently had just stopped when I woke up at 9:45.
Since it was so late, though, I grabbed a Red Bull for my breakfast and made a beeline for the community sale....which, due to the rain, only had a dozen or so houses participating, and the finds were few and far between, although the first stop did have something, though:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2273/2539545410_1c7a630dff.jpg
First sale of the day -- I saw these labeled $1.50 each, CIF'ed $1 for both, and they took it.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2412/2539545506_8951988923.jpg
This was the first of many items today that were produced when I asked about old games. Some kids running a sale went into their house and came out with this lone Tetris. They wanted $6 for some reason, but I got them to take $2.
That was all for the "community sale," so I started working my way back home, including the sales that I had passed on the way.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3053/2539545854_5efd6fd977.jpg
I asked about games, and the woman running the sale came out with an old, dirty DreamCast with Sonic Adventure inside and a couple of PSX games. I offered $3 for the DC and Scrabble, which she gladly accepted.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2365/2539545626_62b4cca75e.jpg
I asked about games, they found their incredibly dusty NES with Power Pad, zapper, and no more than ten games, which they refused my $10 offer for. So I just picked up a few games at $1 each. The top three are going to be for selling/trading, the bottom three are for my collection.
This was a two-family sale, and, right down the block, was another. They had some really awesome dinosaur plushies that I would have picked up, but I have absolutely no room for them. Dinosaurs kick ass.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3120/2539545710_6fde1051bd.jpg
Charlie's Angels, Scary Movie, a knife, and a pocket watch! $4
Another two family sale, one had nothing, next door had a long box of comics that they wanted $60ish for (my $10 offer got shot down, and that would be the most I would pay because figuring out what to do with them would have been a huge hassle).
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3292/2539545788_79a635de19.jpg
Once again, I asked about games, and this is what was found: N64, no controller, AV cable, or jumper pack. Chip on one of the controller ports. $1, but I probably didn't need to pick this up.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2033/2539545972_4cbd48005d.jpg
Originally asking $10, I offered $6...which dropped to $4 when we realized that the wires were missing. They also had a Sears Telegames (allegedly) complete in box (it was taped closed), but wouldn't go lower than $10 so I passed -- the box was huge and I have had zero luck getting any kind of profit on Atari stuff. After buying this, they found a Sega Sports Pack in box (Genesis with a sports game, whee!) they said that they wanted $10 for. Looking back, I should have offered them $6 or 7, because boxed console variants are nice. I think it was missing the manuals and paperwork, though.
This last find was just through awesome chance. I was on my way back from an advertised sale (which I'll be doubling back to tomorrow, since one of the ladies running the multi-family at one house event said that they had lots of Nintendo stuff at home that they would bring for me on Sunday), and decided to ignore my directions since I knew the area, trying to find another community sale that may or may not have been rained out. I saw a flier for a sale that may or may not have been canceled (as it would drizzle for a few minutes and then stop) and decided to check it out anyway.
It was at the very end of the block, and there were no games of any kind out. But when I asked...
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3131/2538723147_110a8578ab.jpg
The last sale of the day -- I asked about games, they came back with a stack of Genesis games and a bucket of SNES games with manuals. They were firm at $25 for everything (but that included two MAUS comics and a porcelain Rafiki), and said they had a PlayStation with games somewhere, so to check back tomorrow -- right after I bought these, it started POURING.
But Boogerman + Lester the Unlikely = two neat finds!
I've got to get to bed pretty soon, since I'm hitting those two sales again first thing in the morning!

Dude, seriously, take a picture. I wanna see.
That reminds me...I have a SEGAWorld T-shirt (uniform) from when I worked at segaworld London that somehow found it's way into my suitcase when I came back to the US! Actually the lead "SEGA"-I'm not kidding they are called SEGAs- said it was okay for me to take some since they changed the uniform. I willl have to dig it out. I had 2 but I gave one to a friend. I would have put the full size Sonic suit in my suitcase, but the head had a 3 foot diameter. I wore it once (1st day hazing). It had a ventilation system that was broken, but it would have been pretty nice if it worked.
BTW: The SNES prototype had to be returned to Japan as part of the contract. I heard back from my friend. His Dad designed some of the artwork for the US marketing of Super Mario World, so he had to use screenshots from the game for part of it and also come up with original art. He actually had to reutrn the (his) original art to Nintendo as well or destroy it.
On topic: I have to swing by the sale where I got the Optimus Prime, he said he is going to look for his NES and games! :bouncy:

Just some surgical strikes today:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2263/2542562820_6d3bbfef06.jpg
I went back to the house where I bought the Genesis and N64 games yesterday, since they said that they would try to find their PSX games. No PlayStation titles, but they found these -- their SNES console (no hookups, 3rd party controllers) and N64 (hookups, 4 controllers, 3 first party), and five and six games for each, respectively, including:
N64:
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
WaveRace 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Star Fox
Cruis'n USA
SNES:
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2
Super Mario World
Super Mario Kart
Sim City
PSX:
Tetris (disc-only)
The PSX isn't pictured; it was missing the hookups so I brought it along with the necessary cables and various 3rd party controllers and memory cards, along with some spare disc-only games, to a friend's house for his nephews.
Total on this haul is $20.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3073/2542562686_e4f20d099d.jpg
The woman who promised to bring whatever gaming stuff she could find delivered. She told me to "make an offer" so I didn't lowball too much since I didn't want to offend her after she dug all this stuff out for me. I offered $15 and she accepted it on a lot of mostly Master System games, three consoles, Mario All-Stars, a boxed Super Gameboy, and a controller and AC adapter for the Master System.
$15 here...putting the total for the weekend at about $90. But with the finds I had, money well spent.
Also, when taking my little brother to get Darkrai at TRU, I ended up finding two Xbox Live Vision bundles for $38 each.

Definately geographical, I find it rather hard to find anything retro around me with the pickins being slim although I've been fairly lucky lately. Just wish I could find some better lots with gems in the form of popular games still worth playing and maybe even some good rare/uncommon stuff from people just wanting to get rid of the stuff!

I'm lucky that the area i live in has tons of classic gamers, about 5 years ago a guy started a store and ordered tons of boxes of crap from Ebay about the time other stores were liquidating their NES/SNES/ect... inventory, It was amazing some of the stuff that he brought into our area. Thanks! I've been getting really into the retro collecting lately, and everything that isn't a duplicate goes straight into my collection (after being thoroughly cleaned and tested). Any extra stuff, though, if friends or family can't use it (like the spare PS2 in the living room or the PSX for my friend's nephews) tends to get Goozexed/GameTZ'ed/sold -- generally, I try to keep the inflow from selling my spare stuff above what I'm buying. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to afford the $50-100 a week plus gas that I've been spending at sales. =/
I've been doing the odd convention as a dealer (I design some shirts and stickers and the like, so its a nice mini-vacation - a weekend of a little business in the day, and a lot of partying at night), and I brought some spare retro stuff as a lark last year and people were snapping them up. So, I'll probably bring some to the cons I go to this summer, in addition to bringing a few spare consoles and popular-yet-common games for retro consoles on "permanent loan" for their game rooms.
And I need to make some room, so a couple might be getting game guide lots donated to their charity auctions.
Right now, though, I've fallen way behind on cleaning and testing since I've been so busy with school, so most of it is just piling up every week. My family is ready to kill me.

For retro games at Garage sales, my area sucks because there is a store the size of a walmart called bookman's that has 4 locations in town and gives decent-great tradeins on retro games. Plus, if the people don't want to buy videogames with the store credit they can buy books or dvds with it. >,>

All of the pawns around here quit taking old games except for one since they were surely making little to nothing on the old games. I still remember when EBgames first started taking used games late in the 16-bit systems' life. The selection never really took off at the store at the mall 5-10 minutes away from me and they never had more then a bin in the center of the store dedicated to used 8/16-bit stuff. I seem to recall them not carrying 16-bit and older stuff anymore at this store about mid way though the 32-bit systems' life. I was talking to a guy at a yardsale a few years ago that said he used to go to the one mall about 50 minutes away from me fairly often since they had a much better 16-bit selection.
I still remember buying about a dozen Sega Master System games from a pawn/used furniture store around here that wouldn't have anything older then PS2 nowadays. This was over 10 years ago (B.E. - before eBay as in before eBay went mainstream :)) The guy's reaction was something like you want these old games! when I asked about them. He said I could have them all for $7 and was just tickled pink to be getting rid of them lol

Pokemon red , yellow and gold - $3
Warriors xbox complete - $2
Castlevania SOTN GH complete and in impeccable condition - $10. This was steep, but it was in such like new condition I could'nt pass it up.
General Chaos, Contra Hard Corps, Atomic Runner - $3
I'm actually playing Atomic runner and to my surprise it's an excellent contraesque style game. I've never heard of or played this before and I think this would fall into the hidden gem catagory. I think this game has slipped under a lot of radars

I was pretty excited when I stumbeld across this ad on craigslist, and I picked this up yesterday evening. It looks like the lady already removed the ad.
It was an ad entitled "Super Nintendo Japanese version - $20", and was listed as being close to me. There was a pic of about 10 Super Famicom games in the ad as well.
So I contacted the person, she told me it was "in Japanese, games in Japanese" I told her no problem, and met up with her after work yesterday. I was wondering what she was doing with a Super Famicom, but considering she was located in Little Osaka (west LA's Sawtelle Blvd), it made a bit more sense. When I saw what she had, I didn't bother haggling it down, $20 was fine for me.
For a $20 bill I score from a Japanese lady:
1. Super Famicom, complete with original box, styrofoam insert, instructions, the AV cables, power supply, and 2 controllers.*
2. 13 Super Famicom games...the only ones I recognized are Super Mario World (with instructions), Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island (recognized by the pic of the island on the cart), some Dragonball game, one of the Street Fighters, and the rest I will need to test out to be sure what they are. Haven't had a chance to do so yet.
* = Note, the outer box top is a little beat up..but overall in very nice condition. HOWEVER, the whole package smells a little weird...like it has come from a Japanese/Asian home (or maybe a Japanese restaurant)...smells like tempura cooking oil, I don't know how else to describe it LOL. I will clean it up and test the games. I also told the lady to call me if she finds any more games, as she said she may have others.

I didn't get the chance to post my finds from last week but let me put them up now:
This picture is from 3 different sales but decided to group them in one picture. It seems that this day was the day for books. I picked up the following:
Worlds of Power: Castlevania 2
Conquering Sega Genesis Games
Nintendo Power Mag
Super Mario Bros: Trapped in the Perilous Pit
Super Mario Bros Coloring and Activity book (x2)
Super Mario Sticker Book
After all was said and done, I paid a total of $2 for all the book from 3 sales. Not to bad.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2555174429/
No major story here... I went tot hte game store in the neighboring town and stopped at the thrift store there before I headed over. I picked up the following creamcast game:
Sonic Adventure 2 (complete)
I ended up giving $2 for it which is a pretty good deal...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2556001640/
Nothing really major here. I picked up Icewind Dale for PC for $1. That is my big story here...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2555174689/
This was a little interesting. I went to this sale in hopes of games by the way the ad was described. I got there and there was a bag of SNES games marked 3 each. I glanced through the bag and noticed mostly one genre... sports... I took the bag tot he woman running the sale and I CIF'd $15. No bite. She said they were her brother's so she would have to call him to see what he would take for the whole bag since there were 16 games in it. They told me the lowest that it could be sold for was $30. I politely said no but did take the following:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4
Spiderman and X-Men: Arcade's Revenge
I ended up giving $5 for these together but worth it to get a decent copy of TMNT 4

Whew! Took my bike out to hit a nearby neighborhood sale. After about an hour and 30+ houses, I came up with zip on the video-game front (not a single copy of Madden even!). However, I did manage to snag:
The Daily Show: Indecision 2004
Super Troopers (Sealed)
Both for $3 (down from $4). I also spent a buck on a glass of ice-tea from a burgeoning entrepreneur. Not a great day, but on the plus side, a 1 hour bike ride + 85 degree weather = one heck of a workout. I've decided that Thursday and Friday sales will be bike or walking only, since they seem to be pretty slim pickings compared to weekend sales.

I didn't have much luck this morning. The first sale I went to, which had advertised games, didn't have any since the one lady forgot to bring them over. I might go back tomorrow. I did get a Death of Superman graphic novel from them for a $1.
The next neighborhood I went to didn't really have anything, but I did give an email address to this one lady who said she had a bunch of stuff in here basement that she wanted to get rid of. I'm hoping that works out.
The next neighborhood was a little better. I got a complete Parasite Eve for $3 and Star Wars Jedi Outcast for the gamecube for $3. I didn't finish the last neighborhood I went to since it was so hot.

Drumroll please and pic soon I promise
After my interview for an IT job (which went amazing/awesome), I stopped by mobile home park on my way home that was having a huge yard sale about 11 am
The first mobile home I stopped by told me they had lefterovers from a comic book shop. There were x-files action figures, x-files comics, star trek and star wars cards, marvel collecting cards, a lot of complete sets, some other comicy/geeky junk. I would have bit on some of the marvel comic cards, but they're not worth much right now.
Then I saw it in a box with a $30 price tag, a complete, super mint, Sega CDX, with power cord, rf unit, 2 controllers, manual, and sega mini catalog, and the system pack.
Games
Sonic CD complete
Ecco CD complete
Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective (game only)
Sega Classics Complete
The older man kept pushing for $25 but the nice lady said if I took it up to teh table I could get a discount, after testing the unit I took it up there.
She asked, What do you think it's worth?
I could have said $5, but I went with $10 and $10 it was.
And to show you the value, one auction, almost exactly what I got

Anyways I was kind of disappointed with garage sales this week, they were pricy and it was hard to get people to haggle down. I got some decent deals, but not great deals. Also why does everyone always want $30 for a used PS1? Third time in recent weeks that I've encountered a PS1, and they're all priced at that point. Fuck that.
I'm starting to notice more stuff like this at yardsales, not really on games in particular but outrages prices on certain things that make me thing are you serious? I saw a few old TVs that I would guess were from the early 90s two that were about 12-14 inches marked $25 each and one that was about 21-24 inches marked $50 min They also had a card catalog thing from the local library with 9 drawers for the low price of $150! They would probably be lucky to even have someone stop by their sale with $150 on hand let alone someone that would pay anywhere near that much for the card catalog. It seems as if every year more people think of yardsales as easy way of making money on old junk and not a easy way of getting rid of it. I see little things like this every week now for example I see at least one VHS marked $10 every single weekend it seems.

I remember going to a garage sale once, and there was used crap that the people wanted new prices for. Seriously, I could go to Wal Mart and find it cheaper there. I also hate it when people print a thing from Ebay showing the price its going for, and they are selling it maybe a dollar or two cheaper.

Well, remember when I said the lady at the sale I bought my NES at said it was broken? I just tested it, and it works perfectly.
The lady said that somebody bought it at the sale and brought it back because it was "broken", but when I looked inside the cartridge slot after buying it, I found the problem. Guess what it was? The cartridge wasn't pushed down. So yah, I guess whoever bought it must not of pushed the cartridge down inside the NES and thought it was broken.
Segasonic01, I would post pics of the Sonic plush, but my camera isn't working now. I'll instead post this "stock" picture.

The plush I got is about 3 times bigger than this one, but I couldn't find a pic of a bigger one.

Nah not to thread crap a CDX is a late model sega system that combines a sega cd/sega genesis/portable cd and CD+G(karaoke)player in one.
Wikipedia says they are rare and sell for lots, (they sell for okay amounts nothing too great)

Hey Sinn, snot, mal -
Curious -
When leaving your name/number
Do you -
Have a simple business card?
Name/number printed on paper?
or just write it each time on a piece of paper?
I ask due to the "perception" of the seller's value if they do find something...does a business card give them pause to ask more?
I was thinking of just printing my first name, phone number, old~new video game enthusiast - on a slip of paper to save time.
Thanks in advance!

No sales yesterday, and only two today. Then one of the sales was a repeat from last week, they didn't even put out new stuff or change the prices of their stuff. And they wonder why that household crap didn't sell...
Anyways, the second sale didn't look too good, bunch of young girl stuff and a radical pink bicycle. However in the books there was a Prima guide for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, wanted $5, CIF'd a buck.
Asked about games and she said that her son didn't go through his stuff, so no. She told me to try next year.
Maybe better luck next week...

The Japanese lady that sold me the Super Famicom called me again yesterday and told me she found a few more games for the system, and to see if I wanted them since she had no use for them. I told her sure, and arranged to pick them up yesterday after work.
So I get there and she gives me 2 games for free (well, I already paid the $20) that make this overall deal just, well, amazing. Definitely recognizable. I actually took some pics yesterday night of some of the games and the system. I still haven't had a chance to play with it.
#1 is the system. I've cleaned the unit up a bit (wasn't too dirty or anything, but that smell is annoying...so I threw a fabric softener sheet in the box)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand, the money shots. I went back and got...DragonQuest VI and a complete Final Fantasy VI...I didn't realize Romancing SaGa 3 was in their either. There's another 7 games I will take pics of.

Thanks Slowdive. YuYu Hakusho, that sounds familiar. I'm guessing it's a fighting game judging from the pic of all the people on it (I was hoping it was another JRPG).
I'm afraid to enter the Anime thread. I will play the game and see if I can't come up with a name for it. Kind of looks like Legend of Mystical Ninja Goemon or whatever that was called.
I never knew they made Romancing SaGas for the Super Famicom...I thought the first one was on PS1 or PS2.

I think what you did is the better method. It works better too if any CAGs meet a man/woman they are interested in to get their number, rather than give yours out. If a woman asks for my number I tell her, "I don't give it out, but I will take yours...I don't want to get any random calls at 2AM!" 8-)
As far as sales go, I got some beanies for .25 each and saw a 2600 with the box and 7 or 8 games for $20, then they droped it to $15, offered $5 and they said no.

I just leave it on a piece of paper, having a business card that says somethign about games just makes sellers want more for their merch.
I will get pics up later, im still im town waiting for a store to open. today was pretty lame, to start off I went backwards on my route and at the last house i stopped at(would have been my first on my regular route) I was told Ya I just sold a big box of old Nintendos and games for $8!! I said yesterdayand she said no 5 minutes ago!! DANG!!
I did manage to grab somg GC games from a seller I didnt CIF because he got hit by a tornado yesterday and all his posessions were layingin his yard so he was sellgin them like a garage sale!!
another house i stopped at had no games out but when i asked the owner said just a second and went into the house. the other lady at the sale then proceded to tell me how the lady just lost her husband in a accident and was just starting to learn to walk again.....the lady then took me to a shed in her backyard and gave me a box of her husbands old games and took my number for more boxes she knew she had but couldnt fin dat the moment, I went back later and got another bex, she said she has more and she will call me again, I felt bad for her so i dropped her $35 for what i got, nothing special but some boxed SNES stuff, and some games i didnt have yet.
I'll get pics up later.

Lord Of The Rings: The 3rd Age
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pokemon Colosseum
The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Ok, I have pics now. As I said earlier my main GS town got hit by 3 tornados last night so alot of the garage sales were canceled/destroyed!!
Most of the Items in my pictures came from a lady that was disabled and she went and dug around in her shed for them so i felt bad and didn't CIF. She said she has 1-2 more boxes in her garage that she will dig up after her sale ends and give me a call!!
The 2 GC games I got at a house that i thought was a sale but when i asked if they had any nintendo games for sale they guy said that they were just cleaning thier yard up from the tornado but he pulled them out and gave them to me for $10
The 2 guides I got for $1 from some kid.
The FFVII I got at the local Game store for $15 It is disk only but i have an extra case.
in total I only paid $60 but i missed 2 large NES lots, one was a huge NES/SNES lot that was sold 5 minutes before i got there for $8!! the other was a "Box Full" that some lady sold yesterday.
Here are my pics.http://joelsinn.googlepages.com/100_1451.JPG

- Paperboy
- Paperboy 2
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- RBI Baseball 2
- Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- The Ultimate Stuntman
- Bases Loaded 3
Total: $20
Like MvC2 two weeks ago, my best find was at the first sale of the day, close to home. I've been wanting an NES 2 for a while, so I didn't try to haggle it down much, just to $20 from $25.
http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1843/dsc04629hu6.jpg
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Total: $5
Found someone with an N64 that they'd been meaning to put on eBay. They had the system, two controllers, and a bunch of games still in boxes. Unfortunately, the games were mostly 3rd party junk like Virtual Pool, and unfortunately, they were asking $100. I managed to haggle them down from $10 on this one, since it was the only one I was interested in playing.

- Croc
- Spyro the Dragon

- Crash Bandicoot
- Final Fantasy IX (Missing Disc 1 )

Total: $5
50 cent PS1 games, why the heck not?
http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3606/dsc04631st5.jpg
- We <3 Katamari
- Sly Cooper
Total: $8
Picked these from a big box of PS2 games. I'm interested in playing Sly, and Katamari was picked up to cover some of todays expenses, since I already own it.

I actually used to have a Mega Controller way back when. A neat find I'd say for a (somewhat) oddball NES accessory. I've been thinking that it would be cool to get one again if I saw one. The only thing I remember and liked most about the controller is that it had a little mini game in which you could try and press the A or B button as many times as you could in a certain amount of time and the LCD screen would tally up how many times you pressed it.

For the first time this year i actually came across something. My local village was having their annual village wide sales and overall they were a dud.
1st sale. Unfortunatly I was not able to snag this as i missed it when i went back to get it but i was with my grandparents and they were bringing me home to get my money and i came across a Sega Game Gear basically mint with Sonic 2 and Lemmings for 10 bucks. I was going to get them down to 5 but i decided to get my money first as my grandparents bought me GTA 4 last week and i didnt wanna bother them anymore. I went back to get it and of course its gone :(.
2nd sale. This one i think i got a pretty good deal. Didnt really expect much but all of a sudden i came across 2 Xbox 1's. So he had 35 for both and i decided to let the day go on to see if i found anything else. I go back and thier still there. So I cif'ed him 20 for both and he threw in the dvd dongle, 1 duke controller, 2 S controllers, the av and power cables and the original manual lol. Best of all both Xbox's work although they both have dvd drive problems. Probably just gonna turn them into media centers.
Rest of the day....... Came across a gamecube but way over priced at 40 dollars, PSP for 180 dollars, Fat PS2 with about 40 games at 200 dollars (was gonna buy but i did not have enough money), and the most expensive of all a WII with 3 games for 600 dollars lol. That was it for games though. Not a great turnout like usual. Can't wait for my village wide in august. Usually find amazing deals then.
Ill post pictures later.

Been on vacation the last two weekends, so didn't think I was going to be able to hit any sales. Glad I didn't have high expectations because I only saw ONE yard sale sign the entire time I was there. However, I decided to hit it just for the heck of it, even though it was 11 a.m. when I got there. Walking up the driveway and instantly recognized a couple N64 cartridges. Picked them both up and asked for more game stuff. Had a PS2 phat w/ 2 controllers for $25. Not bad, but didn't have room for it on the return trip. Also had a broken DS Phat (cracked hinge and scratched touch surface) for $2.
Got:
Smash Bros
Mario Kart 64
Broken DS Phat
$5
Hoping to get back on the trail again next weekend.

I was halfway through typing everything up in narrative form when my browser crashed, so this will be far less epic.
Misc items:
Spider-man Venom Maximum Carnage -- $0.25 ("Any video games?" "Just this one." "How much?" "A quarler?" "Let me grab my change from the car...")
GameCube Controller $1 ("$30 for the system and 2 controllers, huh? How about a buck for one of the controllers?")
Sega Model 2 w/ CD Model 2 $3 ("Any games for this?" "No." "Hows $3 sound?" "Fine!")
First sale:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3094/2560320606_1f938fcc02.jpg
The community sale was a bust, this was all that they had. Only 5 or so houses had stuff out (not the 50+ advertised) and this was about 15 minutes after starting. At the first sale, a woman was desperately clinging to Pokemon Ranger marked $3 and a couple of PSP games marked $7 each (Shoot.), shaking the eight year olds there down for more games ("What else d'ya have? Pokemon Green? Hawmuch? $15, peh, give it to me for $5"). I passed on a FirePro Wrestling for $7 (isnt it that much new?) and bought the 2-disc edition of Ice Age for the stickered $2. At a nearby sale, I got a sealed Mike Judge Collection Vol. 1 for the same price...since my dad always used to watch Beavis and Butthead, I'll probably mail it to him for Father's Day.
No games!

I asked about games at an unadvertised sale after following some signs, and the husband went into the house and came out with about a dozen Xbox games and told me he wanted a dollar each -- more than fair for what I ended up getting.
In hindsight, I should have taken the entire lot of Xbox games since they were all mint, but a lot of them were either lower-calibre or shooters that I know I would never play. So I grabbed the SW 2-Pack game, Nightmare Before Xmas: Oogie's Revenge, and Halo 2 for $3 total.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3143/2559498579_694d9f65e0.jpg
I stopped by one unadvertised sale on the same street as an advertised one to which I was traveling. I immediately put back a dusty Sega Genesis with 2 sports games and Altered Beast when I was told it was $10 firm. "I also just sold a ton of Playstation games!" Shoot.
Well, at the advertised sale, a woman with a thick Spanish accent overheard me asking for games (they had none, saldly) and told me that she had just bought a large box of them from a curmudgeonly woman who refused to split up the lot. Taster's choice, a buck apiece. I offered her $5 for 9, she said she couldn't because she was sending them back to her home country. So I picked two more and gave her $10 for 11 of them, -- not a bad deal, either, for some near-mint, complete games.
Alien Trilogy
Chess
Final Doom
Game of Life
Medal of Honor Underground
Quake II
Tetris Plus
Resident Evil Director's Cut
Resident Evil 2
Soviet Strike
Total $10

I asked about games at one sale...they said that they had some, out (I hadn't seen them) and poked around to help me find them...inside of a bag in a box full of action figures. I peeked in, saw a couple of decent PSX titles (complete non-GH Reloaded ftw), some lackluster N64 stuff...and complete Nintendogs? I offered $5 for the bag, they took it eagerly.
PSX:
2Xtreme
Crash Bandicoot
Die Hard Trilogy
NBA Live 98
NHL 99
Re-Loaded
WCW vs the World
N64:
A Bug's Live
Pokemon Stadium x2
WCW vs Nitro
NDS:
Nintendogs Dachshund & Friends
Total: $5
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3053/2560320824_b6ab158b93.jpg
I saw the box of N64 stuff under a table, picked it up, figuring that I'd get it for $5...the games I offered a couple bucks each for (there were more), but they were firm at $5 apiece. Since they were RPGs, I figured it was worthwhile...especially so when I got them to throw the N64 stuff in with it. However, the salerunner had to consult her son, who, apparently, was a big RPG fan...
PS2: All complete and in great shape:
Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Evergrace
Grandia Xtreme
Grandia II
Summoner
N64:
Hey, You, Pikachu! (w/ mic adapter)
Ms Pacman Maze Madness
Pokemon Stadium
Rally Challenge 2000
Rayman 2
Super Smash Bros.
$30
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3131/2560320880_93190a76cc.jpg
So, after that first lot, they told me that they had more games and to check back tomorrow. But after a beat, the son asks me if I want Super Nintendo games.
"Yes."
"RPGs?"
"...definitely." (I need to remember to bring my poker face to yard sales)
He came out with a shoebox-sized bin of games, asked $5 for each. I peeked in, quickly counted easily over 15 games, saw both FF's and Earthbound, and offered him $30 for the box. He countered with $40, I told him to throw in Dark Cloud and he had a deal. 27 games, SNES hookups/controller, N64 memory card...averaging just over a buck per unit.
SNES:
Doom
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Earthbound
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Illusion of Gaia
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
Secret of Evermore
Secret of Mana
Starfox
Super Game Boy
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Wheel of Fortune
N64:
Excitebike 64
Lamborghini Automobil
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Paper Mario
Quest 64
Super Smash Bros. (yes, he had a 2nd copy)
Twisted Edge
GB:
Dr. Mario
F1 Race
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Tetris
PS2:
Dark Cloud
$40

They were asking $15 for this, I offered $10 for the system and game and they took it eagerly. All cables, 2 controllers, a multitap, LAN adapter, and Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked. They had some garbage PS2 games but Sonic Adventure and Super Mario Sunshine for GC...but its a good thing I checked the boxes, because they turned out to be empty.
$10

After deciding to call it quits at 1ish (I would later head back out to hit those last two sales, but I really had to go #2 and hadn't eaten or drank anything besides a protein shake), I passed a sale on my way home. I stopped, and poked around a little...and saw a little bag in the corner, familliar SNES cables hanging out. I peeked in and saw a cracked SNES, half a racing set, Maximum Carnage, and frickin' CHRONOTRIGGER. I offered the sale runner $5 which she gladly accepted.
I'm tossing this foot pedal thing out since its just going to be in the way, unless someone messages me immediately wanting to pay me to ship it to them.
$5
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/2559498941_3f50f54d98.jpg
Mega Man X
The 7th Saga
Earthbound
Soulblazer
King of Dragons
Samurai Showdown
Tetris Attack
A huuuuge stack of comics, there must be at least 50 there.
At the last sale I dropped by, an unadvertised one I swung by just for the heck of it, I saw a table of SNES, PS2 and Xbox games and comics. He was asking $1 a game and $0.50 per comic, so I CIF'ed $20 for the entire lot of comics plus the non-sports SNES games. It was weird that he let them go for so cheap, considering that he was telling me how he tracked Chronotrigger down on eBay. But, yes, this was awesome. They're primarily Marvel/DC titles and all in great condition.
Plus, I just added quite a few rare games to my collection. =)
TOTAL: $20
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3035/2560321046_a68a652c47.jpg
Okay, this was actually the last sale. No games, I asked for some, they had some mediocre PS2 titles but wanted $3 apiece and I had already spent a LOT today. CIF'ed $1 for this brand-new LOST book, should have picked up their $5 fondue set, but where would I have put it?
Also, I got two leads -- phone # and list of 30 NES games that one of the salerunners sister's would likely let go for $20, and a business card for the friend of another salerunner who was hanging out when I asked about games, said he had a ton and to call him in about a week.
Awesome day, I spent all the cash I had allocated, and tomorrow I'll be heading out again to revisit a sale that promised games on Sunday (they had a ton of video game mags and a lot of gothy stuff like HP LoveCraft novels, so I'm really hoping to find a Silent Hill or some other nice survival horror games), as well as that church sale.
And to think, I just recatalogued my SNES games yesterday...and now I've got another 25+ to clean, test, and add. ;) I really need to find a better storage solution for them, because today will push me past the 200 mark for individual games in my collection and dangerously close to the 100 mark for spares.

Great job Slim -- I'm amazed you ended up with TWO copies of Earthbound not to mention Soul Blazer & Illusion of Gaia. Hopefully, that kid with the SNES RPG's isn't too broken up by that (oh well).

Top-Right: Yu Yu Hakusho

Neat finds! I'd love to see some Famicom stuff in the wild.

Heck, I would hope not -- he's the one who wanted to sell them! They were older, too, late teens/early twenties. The one I ended up giving $70ish too for those two lots was bragging to his mom about he had now made more that day than she had.
Today was lackluster, but I can't really complain after yesterday, although I must say that I am disappointed that I did so much driving for leads that fell through. The family from yesterday didn't find their stuff, and the church sale lady must have been either mistaken or lying about the games, because all they had was some shitty PS2 sports game and a NES World Championships cart (not the super-rare tournament one, the silly sports game one). The old folks who were checking on their sons PSX/2 games had put everything out, but they wanted $3 game and they were primarily shitty sports titles; I didn't bother asking about the consoles.
At a local unlisted sale I stopped by, though, I got a complete/mint NES Action Football for $1...that was their lone NES game (what's with these families having exactly one CIB NES game and nothing else? Reminds me of the Tetris from last week). And like I said last week, I can't say no to complete NES games. =)

Don't feel bad, it's not worth anything sealed, A woman at the flea market near me has tons of sealed copies of it.
Anyway, sales for this weekend were amazing. I decided I should start posting pics because I always hit the sales and read this thread but never post, so here we go:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3033/2561795092_92befb35da.jpg
Nintendo Wii, Brand New: 200.00
Gamecube Mario Party 7 Bundle (2 Controllers, MP7, Mic, Memory Card, RF Cord, 2 AV Cords, Power Cord, and...a Game Shark for N64): 12.00
Zack And Wiki: 12.99
Hot Shots Golf PS1: 1.00
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes: 5.00
Aqua Teen Zombie Pro Am: 3.00
Zelda: Oracle Of Seasons (x3) GBC: 3.75 each
Dragon Warrior 3 GBC: 3.75

Tom & Jerry GBC: 1.00
Daxter PSP: 3.00
SNL: 25 Years Of Music Box Set: 8.00
TI-89 Titanium Graphing Calculator: 2.00
Ok, The Wii was at the Flea Market, no idea why the guy had a new Wii and only wanted 200.00 but who am I to ask questions? The Gamecube bundle was originally 15.00, tried for 10.00, Settled with 12.00. 2 bucks for the calculator! Seriously, it retails for 150.00! That's my best find this weekend...Major profit margin right there! Zack and Wiki came from a Pawn Shop, it's new, it was sitting with a bunch of 20.00 third party shovelware games. Diamond in the rough? You betcha!

Nintendo on the Left w/ Excitebike: Free
Nintendo on the Right w/ 9 Games, 4 Controllers and Zapper: 5.00
The free NES came from a yardsale where I asked if they had any games, she pulled this out of her garage and said she didn't know if it worked and that I could just have it. Comes with a Genesis Power Adapter and a RF switch. The second one, I left the sign on top, has a 5.00 sticker and a hand written sign that says: 9 Games, 4 Controllers, Gun, WORKS!. Nothing special in the game department, Zelda, Mario, Ducktales, the norm. But hey, 5 bucks!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3131/2560972251_ea241382e2.jpg?v=0
5.00
Didn't even bother to organize it yet, it's filthy. Lots of controllers and such. Anyway, 22 Atari games, 5 Genesis games (MK2 case is empty), systems, controllers, etc. The seller wanted 7.00, which was already a steal, but offered 5.00 just for the hell of it.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3075/2561796914_b9aa5f50c7.jpg?v=0
Tandy computer, lots and lots and LOTS of floppies! 4.00 for the lot...Now where to put it? eesh!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3089/2561797796_d277f9009c.jpg?v=0
The rest.
7 Car CD Player Faceplates: 5.00
Power Rangers Toys: 16.00 for everything
CDs, DVDs, VHS: Most of these were .50 each
Bobbleheads: .25 each
Puzzles: .25 each
Killer Instinct 2 Arcade Strategy Guide: .25
Calculator: 1.00
Check out that dog bobble head, it's says "Doogie Secretary" on it, not Doggie...Doogie. It's a secretary with a freakin dog head! I bought it for my wife to take it to work, she won't do it. :(
Rest of this stuff is just to ebay, figure there's gotta be buyers who need CD faceplates and Power Ranger stuff sells well, so I'll give it a shot.
Can't wait till next weekend!

Decent day yesterday. First sale my sister and I hit with an advertised Neo Geo Pocket/Dreamcast was a bust, as the woman's husband apparently pulled the items at the last minute (Note to self: RSVP). After that we hit up two neighborhood sales. At the first stop, we hit on an X-Box going for $50. Tried $30, seller (a teen girl), wouldn't go lower than $45. Eventually left and came back several hours later, CIF $40 and she took it. Not the best deal, but the thing looked brand new, I'd been wanting one for a long time and had zero success on ebay and Craigslist, so I figured what the hell. (Although the soon-to-be super X-Box above puts mine to shame!) There is something weird though that I noticed when I got home. The cord on the official X-Box controller has the same logo as the third-party controller, while that controller has an X-Box cord. Both controllers work fine, so I'm wondering why someone would switch the cords.

X-Box w/ 2 controller: $40
Next up we hit the sale closest to us, which was mostly a bust (lot of old people in our neighborhood), but at one of the early stops we had some luck. My sister saw some expensive art pencils and a notebook, so I grabbed a Squaresoft Collector's CD out of a bin of crappy PS1 games and gave my sister $2 to CIF the lady running it. Fortunately my sister was more on the ball than I was, as she remembered to ask the lady if she had any additional video-game stuff she wanted to sell. The lady passed us off to the homeowner, who told us she had one thing left inside, which she said might be a little scratched but she thought worked. We naturally assumed it was going to be another kids game, but since she offered it for free we decided to stick around. The lady comes out of the house holding a bag which turned out to contain a PSOne, two controllers and two memory cards! We took it home and fired it up, the thing worked perfectly! Best score we've had this summer.

I know it was too much, but it completes my last gen-trifecta, and I have a ton of Goozex points burning a hole in my pocket, so I figured what the heck (A bird in the hand and all that). The thing was immaculate, and if it ended up not working, it's a heck of a lot easier to drive 5 minutes and try to get my cash back. If I come across a cheaper one, I'll just ebay it and recoup the loss. I have a bad habit of spending a little high on systems I'm interested in, but now I'm ready to play hardball with any others I come across!

Undoubtedly. It was just one of those cases where desire overrode common sense, and like I said, there's always ebay for any future finds. Oh, and apparently I've also got some competition, as a few of the people I talked to said they had other people ask for video-game stuff (although they didn't have any, so at least I didn't miss out on any big scores!).

I'm not sure if I'm running into the reseller problem or the neighborhoods I'm going to just don't have much. I mostly go to neighborhood sales and don't hit a lot of individual sales right now. I also wonder if video games just aren't that popular here in Fort Wayne. I've always had small amounts of finds, never like anything that some of the people here get. That is after hitting three and sometimes four neighborhoods in a day.
One thing I've been wondering is the about the main days you have most of your sales. Here in Fort Wayne there are a few sales on Thursday with the main sales starting on Friday. Is this the same for most of you? I just graduated and now have to find a job. I'm going to have to stop yard sailing since it really isn't worth going out on Saturdays in my area. A neighborhood sale starting out on Saturday isn't very common in my area. I love being able to go to yard sales, but it will be difficult to find an IT job that will that will allow me to continue yard saling.

My find from Saturday morning although not anywhere near as stellar as other this weekend...
We'll once again there was no big story here. I went to a HUGE sale for the local Humane society. The catch is that I never saw anything for this. I got there are 9ish after I finished the local larger town for the day. This was the only game that they had left there:
Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World
It was a dime so I saw no reason to CIF...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2563039894/
This was an odd sale. This was inside a mobile home that guess these people were moving out of. I looked around and initially saw the 2 game boy colors. They both worked as well and had a game in them. I also spotted a sealed box of The Lion King movie trading cards. I then also found a complete boxed set of Basic Dungeons and Dragons Beginners module. The dice are still sealed in the plastic. So lets' recap:

Once again though, I have to give some congrats on the dual earthbound copies... That is phenominal. I hope to get some good deals again around here soon. I am almost starting to get discouraged :(

McVans in known to send out game hunters, the new store on Lima may do teh same thing. I live inbetween Bluffton and Decatur and I have heard that McVans even sends people down here.

No clue, 300-400? I go out every weekend and usually spend between 100-300. haha

That's just great to know. I have to deal with all the other ebayers, flea marketers, and now them as well. I didn't know they had a new store on Lima. Where is it?

It's not a McVans, I'm not sure what it's called, but i hear it has high prices, and a crappy selection.
There is also a guy from New Haven that runs a fleamarket booth, I ran into him once and he hits all Fort Wayne, Decatur, Huntington, Berne, Bluffton, plus all the Pawns weekly. I'm not sure how he does it I know he has a son or two that help him. I havent seen him since march though so i'm hoping he tired or my area.

I'm going to go crash, but I wanted to throw a link to my craigslist find from yesterday. You have to go a couple of posts back where I give the background. Long story short, this woman is splitting with her husband and selling his stuff, and listed electronic games for sale on craigslist.
I took a shot since she was nearby, and she had a huge CD case full of PS1 and PS2 games. This was my score of the century...I had the huge comics score from the swapmeet as a kid in the late 80's, and this is my big score for this century. I think I'm going to retire.
I just need her to find the damn cases for the games, as well as any more she has. Note she couldn't find the "Playerstation that plays the games".
$100, and there are probably at least 100 games in this CD case (though there are a bunch of multi disc PS1 RPGs, so I don't know the exact number). I will have to make a complete catalog/list of what's in it.

That Sniper Rifle sucks. I bought that when it came out with Silent Scope Collection and it never really worked. Out of SS 1, 2 and 3...the gun only seemed to partially work on SS2. It was a horrible purchase. Good luck to you!

That's a pretty good find, even better if she can find the cases. Basically an instant PS1 RPG collection. I would say it is worth what you paid. Valkyrie Profile and Suikoden II can go for quite a bit by themselves.

Decent day yesterday. First sale my sister and I hit with an advertised Neo Geo Pocket/Dreamcast was a bust, as the woman's husband apparently pulled the items at the last minute (Note to self: RSVP).
Are you in Rochester? I saw that sale advertised too, but all the big neighborhood ones were on the other side of town.

Ugh, I loathe that. One time, I emailed someone who mentioned video games at their sale to ask what they had...and they responded with a list including Silent Hill and most of the PSX RE's...and the husband kept them all at the last minute. >:(

I went to one yard sale today, and only got one thing.
Hearing a 7 or 8 year old ask what a dollar is- Priceless
Now, if the kid was 3, 4 or maybe even 5 that would be acceptable, but this kid was 7 or 8 and didn't even know what a dollar was. The lady at the sale just said "It's a hundred pennies, or 4 quarters" and I said "10 dimes". Some other lady pulled out a dollar bill and showed her, and it was just funny.

I finally got another story from last week up...
I originally went to this sale around my lunch time while I was at work. I asked if there were any games available and after stopping to think for a moment, the woman running the sale said that there were but she had to get them out of the house. She asked if I could come back later and I said that was fine.
I show back up and there is a box with "all the video game stuff I have" I take a quick peek in hte box and immediatly offer $2 for the whole box. She took it. Now what was in the box? Well...
6 back issue of Nintendo Power
Back issue of Tips and Tricks
Back issue of Gamepro
3 issuees the Uncanny X-men
1 issue of Catalyst
2 game boy magnifiers with lights
1 rechargeable battery pack for GBA/GBC
1 Ni-Mh/Ni-Cd battery charger
1 GBA codeBreaker
1 Super Mario Adventures Comic Book
NBA Jam (Gen)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Wheel of Fortune (Gen Complete)
Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past + Four Swords (GBA)
I didn't even see the Zelda cart in the box but it was definatly a nice haul for $2

Well, I can see mid-week sales - especially toy-heavy sales - being increasingly common through the summer since the kiddies are out of school.
Took last weekend off for weather; taking this weekend off for my parents visiting from out of state.

Game Boy Pocket
Game Boy Carrying Pouch
NBA 99 Game Boy Game
All for 5 bucks. Originally the lady wanted 10, but I CIF'd 5 and she toke it. She also had a GBA, but wanted 5 bucks each for games and was rude,

Here the only Thursday sales are welfare people or old farts that have a bunch of 70's style furniture and clothes.
once in a while I find some sweet games at the welfare looking peoples houses.

I only hit 5-7 sales today and two of them "had games, but they sold earlier", one lady said her neighbor may be selling a PS1 and some games, so I left my number.
Only thing I got today was a 19 inch Magnavox TV for...FREE! She said the sound was crackling, but she also said it may have been the cable box attached to it. I tried it and haven't had any problems with it (yet ), plus I can always run the sound through a stereo rather tahn using the TV speakers. It is in really nice shape and came with the original remote!
I put it in my basement with a Genesis...As long as it works after a couple of days, I'll hook up the NES, SNES, and TG16.

I had better luck yesterday than today. There really weren't that many sales today. I passed on a $30 snes with a bunch of games since it was incredibly dirty and didn't have any good games. I also passed on a $20 xbox since it had been opened. I have two already and I don't think I could get much for one, even if I modded it.
Yesterday was pretty good though. I managed to get an original DS for $15 from a estate sale. I've been wanting to find a DS for a while. I also picked up that afternoon the Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD box sets volumes 1-3 for $18.
