What's with everyone reserving an early post in the yardsale thread lol

IkilledLassic I get that your thinking in doing so was incase you found something crazy like Bubble Bath Babes sealed and mint in the wild for a quarter but I think you started a tread here ;)

We'll have plenty of room for everyone to post their finds in this thread it won't be gone like the Wii and beside if people do come back and keep editing early posts later on they will just have to post again anyways to let people know that they updated an old post with what they recently found.

Look at the yard sale threads from past years, you people will see that there is no need to reserve a spot in the yard sale thread.
Listen to Fonewearl, idiots.
Were not going to page through the entire thread looking to see if someone edited their post and put new things in it. Were only going to check the new posts, editing a post does not make it show up as a new post.

Yeah I hear that but you never know what you just might find in the wild if you luck out. I myself haven't found anything video game related worth that much yet but I can look over the last 2-3 years and think back to probably about a donzen things I've found for about change to $3 that are worth about $25-50ish if you ask eBay.

I try to set my goals fairly low for hunting for games in the wild since nobody is going to find every rare/uncommon game even for a system that was popular like the NES.

My goal for this year will be to find a sealed NES game since I don't have anything sealed for the NES. Hopefully something good but I won't complain even if it's something that is shit as long as I can get it for a buck or two :)

My goal this year is to find an NES. That might not sound hard to you at all, but for a kid my age that isn't old enough to drive and who has parents who don't like the second-hand market it can be pretty challenging. I might have to end up just using... shopgoodwill. Yes, I said it.

I've ran into a few 16-bit games sealed over the last few years one even being Street Fighter II for the SNES ;) IIRC the guy mentioned that it was a meant to be given as a gift or recieved as a gift or something along the lines of that.

I also asked about video games at one sale about 3 years ago and went over to the guys house and he had abunch of stuff all/mostly intellivision, 2600 including some accessories & IIRC a few games still sealed but he was asking $150 to start with so I ended up never following though with the deal as after thinking about it I passed as I figured I would never get to playing the games much (if ever) with everything else I have that I need to get to and it would end up being to big of a purchase out of nostalgia. I remember seeing one of the games with a tag that said .99, makes me wish I was smart enough to be trying to look for cheap/clearance game when I was younger during the 8-bit era or before.

I wouldn't expect much if I did luck out and find something sealed most likely something that nobody cared to open like Orb 3D :D I would hope for something really common or fairly common that I like (TMNT or Russian Attack would be nice) but being my luck if I do run across a sealed NES game the box would probably be smushed and the game would probably be Bases Loaded II.

JVC X'Eye, RF, 1 controller
TOTAL: $2.00

Picked this up at a local moving sale that was advertising games. Have'nt been out much lately due to the weather. But stopped by this moving sale cause it was close to home. There were tons of PS2 and Xbox games all way overpriced. I asked for any older stuff and the guy went upstairs and came back with this.
He said it would not read the discs but played the cartridges fine. Remembering I read somewhere about a common CD lid switch problem on these units I decided to give it a go and CIF'd $2 which was initially shot down. The guy proceeded to tell me how he paid over $400 for this new and so on and so on. When he was done I told him "The CD does'nt work, there's no plug and you do'nt have any games for it, it's basically junk unless I can fix it, I shot him a kind of c'mon look and stuck the $2 back in his face. He thought for a minute and took the cash.

Got home and sure enough the cd would'nt read. Looked around online a bit and found a site which diagramed the bypass or replacement for the CD door pinswitch. I went with the bypass option which was just soldering a piece of copper wire to the switch leads and 15 minutes later I was rocking the X'Eye

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this thread filling up as the weather gets warmer, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute a bit this year and not just absorb the yardsaling vibe like the previous years.

Dude...Snotknocker and EvilMax/Moeity are the freaking Solid Snakes of yard sales.

But it takes a HUGE commitment and a TON of time to score those one in a million deals I've seen them post. You can easily make a decent living I'd guess, probably at least 50K a year, by being a yard sale pro 'full time'. At least in a decent area and if you have a keen eye and broad amount of knowledge over a large variety of collectible types (i.e. you should know as much about furniture as possible...and the amount to know is ridiculous, toys, glassware, porcelain, etc.)...basically, just about everything is collectible and collected by someone out there. The key is maximizing your profit...buying stuff for the best price and finding the collector who will pay the most for it.

LA just blows...too many sales every week to cover and over way too vast an area, people thinking their garbage is worth gold, too much competition. I just stick with being a craigslist deal stalker. I just do it for my own collecting mainly and not to resell (if I come across something I already have or know I could easily make a huge profit on, then I'll bite, sure - who wouldn't), especially since there is no way that doing the yard sale hunting for profit thing could ever come close to what I make in my real work.

But I have entertained the idea of doing the yard saling/flea market thing full time, since I do enjoy the thrill of the hunt and landing an awesome deal so much. But that would only happen most likely if and when I'd be retired, or if I was so vastly wealthy that it would be foolish to work.

I'm not sure if Snotknocker and EvilMax/Moeity do this for a living, but judging by the scores they've posted here and on their site, they could definitely make good money doing it full time and just reselling on eBay or whatnot. I'm SO jealous of their scores but at the same time I do realize it's a lot of hard work, wasted time running around and going all over hoping for a good score before some competition swoops on it, all day Saturday and Sunday from WAY EARLY in the morning until you are too tired in the afternoon to continue. God bless 'em. The rates of finding a particularly good score must be something close to 1 in 50 or 100.

Spot on Karkyco; Ive seen gems in areas of both affluence and areas of lesser incomes. But here on Long Island, most kids my age or younger who had Genesis, NES, SNES, etc, if they haven't already pawned them rid themselves of systems and games at very cheap prices. Funny thing, Craigslist in NY is utterly useless for video game finds, at least from my luck and recollection.

There is seriously no need to reserve a spot. No one is going to look back through the whole thread when it gets to 1000 or so replies. If you have a find, make a new post. Nobody is going to have a litter of kittens if you don't keep everything you find in one post.

If I've learned anything about yardsaling from this thread it's that location can be a big factor in how well you do when yardsaling for video games.

Another thing I've learned in the Deal/Shopping Discussions & Bragging Rights threads is that different CAGs in different areas do best in the wild by different means, some pretty much exclusively stick to yardsales while others mostly just check pawn shops regularly etc. etc.

I think the absolute key (besides CiF - CASH IN FACE CASH IN FACE CASH.IN.FACE!!!) is to always ASK if they have the types of items you're looking for. If you want vintage or classic toys, ask the person running the sale "I don't see any, do you happen to have any old toys you'd be willing to sell?" or "do you have any old video games?" A lot of huge scores come from asking - it never hurts to ask, and it never hurts to make an offer. The worst they can say is no, either to having the items you're looking for or no to your offer.

DON'T say 'classic' or 'vintage', you don't want to tip your hand and give them the idea as to what their stuff is really worth. Sorry, but you need to be out for yourself and trying to get the best score possible...nothing illegal with offering FAR less than an item is worth and getting it for that price. It's just the way of the world. Is it unscrupulous and possibly morally reprehensible, sure. But you need to look out for #1 in this world. Business 101. (maybe I'm just too jaded from living in LA and other dog eat dog global cities, hahaha!!!)

As for older systems...the best are the empty nesters like the baby boomers, who are downsizing or cleaning out the place and getting rid of the crap their kids left behind as they went off to college or moved out etc. You will find monster scores at these places if you ask!

I've never found anything aside from the requisite copies of ET and other older games that're overpriced before. The one lady at the local flea market was supposed to dig through all of her boxes of crap the last time I talked to her(bout a month ago) and see if she could find the Genesis systems she has laying around.

But, if the systems are anything like the games I've seen she has already out for them, I doubt I'd want ANY of them(mostly sports with torn/faded labels). I figure, if the games are cart only, missing parts of their labels and what not, then what do the systems look like?

Attention all yardsalers!

We are proud to introduce Dom & Liz's Visual Route Planner (http://yardsales.lizndom.com/pivot/entry.php?id=102)!

http://yardsales.lizndom.com/vrpbanner.gif (http://yardsales.lizndom.com/pivot/entry.php?id=102)

Dom & Liz’s Visual Route Planner is a web-based application which allows you to input multiple addresses, and then create a driving route between them. Planning your route is quick, fun, and easy, and you will see it being created right before your eyes. All you need to do is point and click!

http://yardsales.lizndom.com/mapmarkers.jpg

The VRP was created to solve a problem that has afflicted us for years. Every week, we needed to plan out a route, and find driving directions between 30-60 unique addresses. This process would often take hours to complete, and after doing it for so long, we figured that there had to be a better way. Now, with the VRP, we can complete this process in minutes!

We hope that this application saves you as much time and effort as it does for us. Please feel free to give us feedback and let us know if it works for you!

Oh my God Moiety you are awesome. Now if only it could read addresses from, say, local newspaper listings online and craigslist for yard sales, and input them according to various settings, keywords, locations, etc.

That would be awesome. But this is great!!!

Well I finally get to say something about this year. While I haven't found any yard sales yet (crazy Missouri weather), The pawn shop circiut has been decent to me.

While in Springfield I happened across a pawn shop that is closed everytime I go by it. I finally caught it while it was open and it was worth it. I saw the following
games and immediatly picked them up.

Fatal Frame (Xbox)
Radiata Stories (PS2)
Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (PS2)

I did pay a little more than normal for them but for PS2 RPGs and Fatal Frame, I think it was worth $25

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2275897816/

While wandering around town on my day off, I went into a pawn shop I usually visit. Luckily he had just got a bunch of games in that no hadn't been picked over yet. I ended up getting:

Super Metroid (SNES w/ Manual)
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Harvest Moon 64 manual
Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2 Disc Only)
Fatal Frame (PS2 Disc Only)
Kingdom Hearts (PS2 Disc Only)
Draken: The Ancient Gates (PS2 Disc Only)
Brave Fencer Musashi (PS1 Complete)
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Gamecube Complete)
Lost Kingdoms (Gamecube Complete)

I tried to offer $35 but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to get cash so I ended up agreeing with $40 on my debit card. Still though, that is pretty decent as once again Fatal Frame is worth almost that alone.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2275884788/

On a side note, Snot Knocker, if you come up with another X'eye, I'd be willing to take it off your hands.

if you have good people skills and know how to negotiate then you can get just about anything for less than 5 bucks.

Hopefully the image worked. This is what I found at the flea market today. 3rd Rock from the Sun was sealed for 20, Veronica Mars Season 1 is in great shape except for a little rip on the top. I finally found Koudelka for less than 40 dollars around here. It was 15 and in great shape. The Mystery and Horror tales was 3 dollars.

Sorry for the blurry pics. I just got a new camera and I am still trying to figure out how to work with it.

That is so true, every Garage sale i go to I ask about games as soon as i get out of my car, if they say no, I know not to look around. Many times they say ya i have a old super nintendo with X amount of games inside i didn't know people still play those ill give it to ya for $10(Has hapened many times).

My bigest problem is that a gamestore from a city about 30 minutes away has started looking for games at garage sales, so i have to be up bright and early.

Last year I spent over $3,000 at garage sales, and made over $5000 fliping/selling them, and I still have boxes at home, i can't wait untill it gets warm enough out for the sales to start back up.

I finally had a score that was worth writing down today... I stopped into the local pawn shop and looked around for a few minutes and noticed that there were some new playstation games that have been added. I started looking through them and then realized I have hit a gold mine...

I picked up COMPLETE:

King's Field
King's Field 2
Wild Arms 2
Breath of Fire 3
Breath of Fire 4
Vandal Hearts 2
The Granstream Saga
Threads of Fate
Star Ocean: Second Story
Shadow Madness
Grandia
XenoGears
SUIKODEN 2!!

Disc Only:

Wild Arms 3
Parasite Eve 2

I walked up to the counter and the lady looked at me a little strange and asked that I wanted the "old" playstation games. I replied yes and she told me that they were $10 each. However she told me that since I had so many and that I frequent them often, SHe would let me take them all for $75. I tried to offer $70 but she was firm on $75. I threw her the cash out of my wallet which only was there because of a DS deal that fell through and walked off a happy man. They had a few other RPGs as well but I didn't have any more cash to spare. I'll hit them again this weekend. But once again... Suidoken 2... still worth more than what I paid for the whole lot of games...

I'll have some pictures up as soon as I find my camera charger.

NICE!! My local Pawnshops caharge around $2-$3 for PS1 games, but they don't get good ones in often, I got Rival schools a few weeks ago.

I also got Diablo for playstation today at a local gamestore for $5 that was a good catch, I also got 2 copy's of Silent hill there last week for $5 and $8. they don't realy know the value of the old PS1 games.

Nice i had a haul about like that from a rental store mid last year, I got 10 rare Squarersoft, capcom and Enix games for $4 a piece. including suikoden II, Valkyrie Profile, and others.

P.S. I have never seen Kings field in a long box, mine is in a jewel case, is the longbox version rare?

I did a quick ebay search and it looks like there are BIN priced for the long box from 9.99 to 29.99. I wouldn't say it is reare but it seems that it is a little more uncommon that the jewel case. I'm going back to the pawn shop today as there were still games left htat I ran out of cash to get though. I'll fill you in when I get back.

I don't know if a swap meet will count for this thread, but I found the motherload of game stands at the open-air swap meet on las vegas boulevard. For $48.00 I got:

Stella Deus COMPLETE
Shadow Hearts: From the New World COMPLETE
ICO (disc and case only)

I know I paid a little much for them, but considering the fact that I found them at a really dilapidated swap meet, I was happy. The lady who used to own Gameworld, which was the best place to go in town before it closed up shop (Charleston & Lamb) actually runs the stand. I believe I'll go back sometime soon.

They also had a black label FFVII for 60 bucks (no thanks) and a couple of other rare games. Quite the find.

I hit up the K-Mart just down the street on the way home and saw Romancing Saga had a clearance sticker of $15.00. The lady working electronics gave it to me for $7.00. I'd have pictures up, but my wife left the camera at her mom's house.

Stopped at a bizarre, hell it was almost like a Turkish Bazaar on Sunday while driving through the area. Bunch of people selling all sorts of stuff like a yard sale, but on a large sidewalk area at a busy intersection in SilverLake (directly northwest of downtown LA). Probably an illegal street market, but that sort of stuff is quite common in LA with all the illegal alien street vendors, but not so many in one place except for downtown sales districts...though I've seen this one before on many weekends but never stopped by until now.

SO glad I did.

One guy was selling SNES and NES games. The NES game selection didn't have anything I really needed and most were not complete, but his SNES collection was pretty damn exceptional. He was telling me he wanted about $10 each (some $5) for the following complete games "but would work out a deal", so I picked out what I wanted and CiF'd him $30, he didn't want to take it but I told him that's all I have, they're old, etc. and finally he gave in and scored the following:

Mario All Stars (complete)
Contra 3 (complete)
Zelda LttP (complete)
Turtles 4 (complete)
Secret of Mana (COMPLETE WOOT!!!)
Super Metroid (complete)
Super Punch Out (complete)
Super Star Wars (cart only)
Dr. Mario/Tetris 2 in 1 (cart only)
Megaman X (cart only)

All carts are beautiful, boxes and instructions in great shape for the most part, but he had his initials on each one, not a big deal to Goo Gone/Mr. Clean it off though. I'll try and take some pics later once I clean them up, especially since a couple I already have and will go up on my trade list eventually.

Guy was telling me he moved out here from DC to do sound editing, but with the writer's strike he's been hurting so he has to sell them. His loss = my gain. I just wish he had complete or cart only SNES Ogre Battle, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, or the Final Fantasies (though I do already have most of those complete).

First weekend of seeing some ads in the paper for yard sales. Found a few things, nothing to really write home about, but was just itching to get SOMETHING.

First find (actually from Craigslist post), all Gamecube:

Super Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart Double Dash
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Animal Crossing
Frogger Adventures The Rescue
Sponge Bob Battle for Bikini Bottom

Asked $40, CIF $30 and got it. $5 per game not too bad, but not great. Looks like all were bought used from Gamecrazy. Not many with manuals, and Mario Golf is in a beat up case with their custom printed cover. Aside from that, the games are scratchless.

Second find, all PS2:

Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank Going Commando
James Bond Agent Under Fire
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battlenexus
Monster Rancher 4
Ape Escape 3

Asked $30, CIF $15 and they took it. Problem is that I didn't inspect them at and when I got them home they are beat all to shit. Probably playable, but definitely scratched up pretty good. Lesson learned. I'll probably bundle them into a PS2 I need to sell and add it in for $25 more.

I found two original gameboy games (cart only) for 3 dollars each at a garage sale this morning. There were so many people waiting around for her to open because she advertised the video games. She also said "early birds welcome" but didn't open up until 15 mins before the garage sale started anyway. Everyone was rushing in and I snagged these two (among several):
Mega Man V
Golf

The guy that bought the other games the lady had, I saw at the flea market later, reselling them. I'm thinking... competition. He's just a reseller. Anyway, I bought some NES games from him for 4 dollars each (a little high for me, but I've been in a dry spell).

Little League Baseball (Upgrading the copy that I have, the contacts and label on this game are like new)
Mega Man 3

I have a question for you guys. What are some other things that I should be on the look out for at garage sales? I don't have job right now while I finish my last quarter of college. I'm thinking of doing a little ebaying on the side. I don't think I'll do much selling of games, since they are usually hard to come by in my area and will likely go straight into my collection. Any snes, ps1, and saturn games will definitely go into the collection. I'm looking for some other items besides games that I should be on the look out for. Some records and textbooks are some things that comes to mind.

This morning, unfortunately, was raining, but a couple of sales and rummage sales were open that I went to. This is what I found:

Age of Empires 2 (PC)- $1. The person originally wanted $2, but I CIF'd him 1, and he accepted.
Yoshi Figurine- 10 cents.
Disco Record- $2. Lady wanted $3 originally, but I CIF'd 2 and she accepted.
Final Destination DVD- $2

I Then went to Goodwill, due to the lack of yard sales. Here is what I got:
Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning DVD Sealed and with original Sleeve- $3. I was amazed when I found this, since I find it uncommon to find such a new movie in Goodwill. Wasn't this movie released only a few months ago?
Halo 4 pack of figurines- $3. I was also amazed when I found this, because these will sometimes go for $10 in stores. One of the problems was that the back was ripped, but all the figures and game stuff was intact. Also, one of the Master Chief figurines was missing an arm, but thats ok, since it was a good deal and the other figures were in perfect condition.

Well, I had a good day today. How about everyone else?

Here's a list of things that I keep my eyes out for besides video game related items.

old glass items, depression era glass, vases, salt and pepper shakers, old bottles. (You will have to do a bit of research but it pays off once you know what your looking for keep the brand name Fenton in mind)
CD and DVD lots
power tools & hand tools (these move well on craiglist)
lawn mowers ( I've turned 4 simply by putting a sign on them and chainig it to my front porch for a total of $250 profit )
baby clothes, some people will sell boxes full for a couple of bucks, a great craiglist item.
old costume jewelry ( another worthwhile item once researched )
old cast iron toys, especially mechanical banks
vintage t-shirts, tour shirts in good condition could bring some good scratch.
high end cookware - (I've bought fying pans for a dollar or two and have turned them for up to $75)
old tube radios
military items - I bought a WW2 combat helmet for $5 and ebayed it for $225
Old GI joe and Barbie dolls and accessories
complete Lego sets
Old lamps
old electric trains and accessories.
Figurines (Messien, Hummell, Royal Daulton, LLadro, all brand names to keep in mind)Unfortunately I don't know a whole lot about anything other than games, but I do know a little about a lot and all the items I've listed I've managed to make some pretty good money on when turned. if you keep your ears opened at yardsale's you'll here people ask for specific items that could be a clue to items worth researching. I saw a guy buy a bucket of marbles last year from some old guy. When the guy brought out the bucket the buyer got real red in the face and started breathing real heavy. He bought the bucket for $5. After the purchase as he was walking away he started to stumble and it looked like he was gonna pass out. He had to plop down on the lawn to gain his composure. When I went home and did some research it turns out that some vintage marbles are worth a pretty penny. (you might want to add marbles to the list). If you do your homework you'll come to realize that "one mans junk truly is another mans treasure' good luck

i think i may expand my "yard sale" scope this year to include glass and unusual stuff like the list mentioned above.. i see a lot of stuff that may be worth a pretty penny..

marbles.. wow i never even thought of that..

i usually ask to see baseball/basketball or magic/yugioh cards.. as I know a bit about those hobbies that I can usually know whats good and whats not and you never know when you find one of those Black Lotus or Mox cards that as a magic player/collector is pretty much the "holy grail" of the game..

last year was my first real "year" i have some old records that I need to put up on ebay still.. i have a lot of junk I need to put up.. but school/job has me pretty busy.. and from what I can tell yard sales around here really don't start until mayish and we don't have a real thrift store..so its usually a quick day for me (from about 8 in the morning to about 11 maybe.. )

I'd usually look out for Ralph Lauren & Lacoste shirts -- higher-end neighborhoods tend to have these that they will sell to you for about $2 - 5. You are less likely to see dress pants, jeans, suits, etc. at yard sales though. Really, higher-end neighborhoods tend to have a bit more, although I think you are more likely to find people not willing to negotiate on the price.

I may start looking for DVD's when I go to yard sales this year -- I really want to find Criterion Collection stuff (ha!), but I wouldn't be surprised to not find them for cheap. So if I can get Airplane! for $2, that'll be cool with me.

I see fewer CD's and more tapes and records for some reason.

My odd occurrence was when I saw a sign for a yard sale for an area of town that I am unfamiliar with, but for my riding around checking out yard sales. I said to myself that I had been to that address last summer, and sure enough it was a house I hit last summer. Absolutely no reason to remember the exact address, but when I pulled up to the house I just laughed to myself. Can't tell you what I did yesterday, but sure as hell can remember my yard sale houses!

Good luck to all.

Did you check the disc thoroughly? I ask because if it's scratched to hell, that COULD be the issue, or if the top label side is missing a piece that could do it too.

If there's no real visible damage, then it could be your PS2 that's messed up and needs a cleaning, since ICO is a blue disc(CD) PS2 game and those tax the PS2 ALOT when playing.

True, if it is just scratches on the bottom of the disk you may want to check and see if you have any local stores that will resurface DVD's/games. it's cheap($1-$3) if that is all your copy needs that's still a heck of a lot cheaper than gettign ICO from E-bay.

That's still a sweet deal, especially if it's complete. Too bad it ain't working properly, but follow CheapestGamer and Sinnbox's advice.

You could always resell it/eBay it for some good money, or trade it here.

First videogame score of the season. I snagged a PS2 w/ 2 controllers and Jak 3 for $10 at a yard sale today. Oddly, there was an XBOX right next to the PS2 that was marked $100.

Wow, that's an amazing deal. I had to pay $20 for a DRE'd PS2 with no controllers or games. But I fixed it at least.

its for my basic computer buisness class.. we're learning powerpoint and we had to choose a topic to write about for a 5 minute presentation and I thought about how much the yard sale cagwiki helped me last year and its an interesting topic.

Yard Sales haven't kicked in for me yet this year.. (from what I can tell.. they don't usually start up until Mayish) and after doing some basic research last week i'm getting the itch to start doing it again.

it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.. are you reselling games afterwords or are you playing them?

i figure anytime i can purchase games for 5 dollars or less and I'm interested in playing them then the deal is a success.. many people on here consider 1 dollar the highest they go..

really the only games NOT worth picking up are sports titles or really really bad titles. I assume you've played enough games to know which are good and which are bad?.. my "guide" is

SNES - Any known RPG to me, shooters, platformers, and strategy games ..or any other titles of interest..i typically stay away from movie based titles.

Genny - I usually don't pick up any games for this system unless I get a great deal or I know what games I want.. too many sports titles on this system.

PS1 - You can't go wrong with most racers, 3d action, RPG, or other similar titles.. I try to stay away from graphic intensive games of this era because I know I won't like it.

PS2- has a lot of really quality titles.. i steer clear of earlier games from this system

xbox - same thing.. you can't go wrong with shooters on the xbox.

360 - any decent 360 i can find for under 5 bucks i'll go for.

Great suggestions...I couldnt have said it better myself....one more thing that i do is if someone has a bunch of games individualy priced, I stack them up take them to the cash table and offer about 2/3 of the sticker price, they usualy go for the bait. so instead of $20 for 20 $1 Ps1 gamesyou get them for $10-$15. works great almost 100% of the time.

Got 3 games today -

Bombastic (PS2 - complete)
Need for Speed Underground (GC - Player's Choice - complete & near mint)
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (GC - Player's Choice - complete & near mint)

total spent: 9 bucks. The guy selling the two GC titles was originally asking $20 for the both of 'em, but I countered with $5 which he eventually took. Bombastic was found at a swap meet and they were asking $7 but I countered with $4 (I'd been wanting this one for awhile). She said "$5?" and I said "I really want to pay $4..." so she eventually took it.

Looking forward to Saturday's sale! I think I might have a lead on a SNES & a couple of games.

Scored a couple games today for $6.
-Harvest Mooln: A Wonderful Life (PS2)
-Diablo (PS1)
-PS2 Dual Shock Controller

Unfortunately, I got to the sale towards the end and the woman running it said she had sold about 30 PS2 games throughout the day and several PS1 as well. As always, the early bird gets the worm.

Today I got a "Television Computer Games Super Color Volley X by Roberts" in the box. I have never heard of it but it looks to be an Oddessey type system. 4 paddles, 2 very real looking guns (rifle & pistol), hookups and manual. Box is a bit beat up, but still readable/together. Got it in a bigger box of stuff, so when you spread my $5 around I paid about .70 for it.

Pretty good day today. First stop:

Gamecube w/2 controllers for $10.

Kids had a Wii and did not need it anymore.

Next stop:

N64 Games
Mario Kart 64 x2
Mario Party 1
3rd Party Steering Wheel and Pedals

PS1 Games
Jeopardy
Namco Museum 1
Populous
Monopoly
Spiderman 2 Enter Electro

$10

Asked the lady if they had any video games, because there were none out for the sale. She said she had some N64 games and system. She went in the house and brought out the N64 and PS1 stuff. CIF'd $10 and she accepted.

She then asked if I had an XBox. I don't, but asked her to see what she had. She brought out 14 games. I have no idea what are good XBox games, so asked what she wanted and she said $30. I offered $20 and she countered $25. I took her up.

All XBox
Defender
Spiderman
Spiderman 2
Night Caster
Pirates-The Legend of Black Kat
Oddworld Munch's Oddysee
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Lord of the Rings The Return of the King
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOY
Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance
Shrek Superslam
Knights of the Old Republic
Star Trek Shattered Universe
Sphinx

$25

After this transaction I decided to see if she would be interested in parting with her broken XBox. I figured if it was a stuck drawer I might be able to fix it. I asked her if they were no longer using the XBox if she would just give it to me and I would try to fix it. She said sure. Did not have a power plug, so I had to pick up one for $5 at Gamecrazy. Took it home, it works perfect! No catches, yet.

XBOX w/ 2 controllers

FREE

Big box of Thomas the Train toys and tracks
$50

My last stop was a moving sale. The guy didn't have any games, but did have a synthesizer that he was giving away. I am no musician, but my nephew is and I thought I would get it for him since the price was right. Called him and he already has one. So I passed. Looked it up on EBay as I was leaving and decided I should go back. Ends up it is a Yamaha DX7, which goes for a pretty penny on EBay. Not sure if it works. Gonna get my nephew to run it through its paces and see what he thinks. It is pretty beat up.

damn. no sales here yet. that makes me sad. I had so much fun last year doing this i hope i get a good haul. another thing that makes me sad is all the a holes that buy games and then resell them for outragious prices. example: came out of meijer today and saw a flyer on my car for a guy that was selling nes bundles. nes with mario 1,2,3. 145 bucks. what a steal. for him. argh. well good luck to everyone this year. maybe another month and it will pick up. stupid cold michigan weather.

Well, it seems that slowly people are starting to get sales started around here. I went to only about 4 since that's all that there were unfortunately. However, I didn't do to bad...

First good sale today and only one of 4 found in the area. I stopped and looked around and saw some N64 games although only PS2 and Xbox games were mentioned in the ad. After looking through them I decided on a few. I wasnted to get all they had available but they did not want to negotiate. After negotialing as everthing I picked out was 5$ and I had 5 items, I CIF'ed 20$ and it was finally accepted. Out of this I got:

Super Smash Bros.
Mario Party 3
Twisted Edge Snowboarding
Snowboard Kids 2
From the Earth to the Moon (DVD Box Set)

I was definitely pleased here...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2372700902/

As I was driving through town looking for unadvertised sales that were not on the local forum, I stumbled across a sale the one of the local halls. I stopped in and browsed for a bit and then found this Atari 7800. I saw it was marked $10 and decided to go for it. I asked if they would take $7 and they agreed. For my negotiation skills I scored:

Atari 7800 system w/ 2 paddles and power
Rampage (7800)
Hat Trick (7800)
Pole Position II (7800)
Realsports Baseball (7800)
Oink (2600)
Dig Dug (2600)
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (2600)
Robot Tank (2600)
Amidar (2600)
Pitfall (2600)
SwordQuest Fireworld (2600)
Frostbite (2600)
Plaque Attack (2600)
Space Invaders (2600)

Not to shabby I felt...

I have a sneaky suspicion that I am. May be paranoia though. I have had missed at many sales where the sellers tell me that someone just came through that wiped them out. However, I've had many tell me that it was an older gentleman that hit them. Doubt that there are many 65 year old men staffing the locally owned game shop.

After just finding Dark Alliance 2 on Xbox yesterday, I saw on the local forum today Dark Alliance 1 and 2 for PS2. The asking price was $7 wach but I offered $12. It was taken and I left with:

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2

This happens occasionally. I start looking for something in particular and find a multitude of it. I just recently found 3 copies of Fatal Frame (2 PS2 and 1 Xbox) in 2 weeks time. I just hope my luck continues to find other cool stuff.

Not necessarily in my exact area - but I know that the used game shop that I hit about 40 minutes away does scour the area garage sales during the summer. I was in there one day that he was bringing in an NES haul.

Big time dilemma for tomorrow. 2 big neighborhood yard sales. One is across town and is my old reliable. A little worried that I have worn it out, but also worried that I will miss out. Other is right near my house. I have hit it before and found a few things. Not as good as the other neighborhood sale though. Aargh. An embarrassment of riches I suppose. Not a very good day at all. Thinking about hanging it up after burning nearly a half tank of gas. Probably won't, but pretty down. Went to my reliable semi-annual neighborhood sale, and just about every house I hit that had video games had just sold them. Very frustrating. I was on a very cold streak.

Came away with:

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 (PS2)
$5

Knights of the Old Republic I
Elder Scrolls III:Marrowind
Some Dragonball Z GBA Game
$10

Oblivion Official Game Guide w/ Moisture Damage
Oblivion Game of the Year Game Guide-Decent Shape
$.20

Had a chance at getting a barely used XBOX360 w/ 20GB HD for $250. It looked to be barely used and everything was packed in the bag. However, don't really have a need for it and I am scared half to death to buy used because of the RRoD. Plus my wife would have slit my throat if I came home with it to keep.

Hopefully, will be better for the rest of you. I may add a picture link later.

Well the St. James City Wide yard sale was good to me today!

Luck is on my side today. As metioned before I have good luck when I look for something that I have talked about with someone. A coworker and I were talking about the Dilbert tv show and how awesome it was recently is the case for this. Well today I went to a yard sale with TONS of anime and DVDs. I only got these 4 items as I didn't have time to rummage through everythign he had. However, I got his name nad number and will hit him up later this week. I ended up finding the following:

Samurai X complete collection
Family Guy Volume 3
Dilbert the complete series
"Weird Al" Ultimate video collection

The price was originally $5 each but I CIF'ed $15 and it was taken without hesitation.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2390463428/

This was a great sale in that I found some cool stuff. I first dug around a tote and found some nintendo toys. I then asked the question... "Do you have any older video game stuff?". The answer was definatly yes. After digging through a tote that was brought to me I picked up the following:

King Field: The Ancient City (PS2)
Blackthorne (SNES)
Space Megaforce (SNES)
Battle Zone: Rise of the Black Dogs (N64)
Starcraft 64 (N64)

I asked her what she wanted for everything and she replied with $20. I then Countered with $15 and it was a solid deal.

UPDATE: I have already traded Starcraft 64 for Mass Effect for Xbox 360

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2390462662/

This was an excellent find. I found it on a table at a yardsale. It was an original Frogger Coleco Tabletop game machine. It was $0.10 so I decided not to haggle and use this opportunity to break a $20.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2390462836/

Nothing special here. I ended up finding a couple music CDs.

Great White - The Best of Great White
Spin Doctors - Pocket Full of Kryptonite

They were asking $1 each but I CIF'ed $1 for both and it was also taken.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2390463040/

I wandered up to this sale after spotting it from a distance. I then found a laptop on the table and it had a tag on it - Free With Printer. The printer was a junky looking HP Inkjet and I asked if they would sell the laptop separatly. They said yes and I offered $2 for it. It was taken and I will try it out when I get home.

UPDATE: This laptop works great. I have already turned it on and am installing drivers for my wireless card on it.

There was a block sale today. Nothing at most. Guy sold a bunch of xbox and a few wii games before i got there, but considering he was selling his other xbox/ps1 for 5-10, not much I prob would have wanted.

Got a third party xbox controller for $3. Offered $1, he countered $5.

A guy at another sale had what looked to be more than 1000 dvd screeners. I went through the first 200 or so and didn't see too much that was interesting but I got 5 at $1 a piece. Very interesting though. I asked him about it and he just said he had some friends in the movie biz.

Lastly, there was a lady selling old game boy and gba games for exuberant prices. She had a printed out list of eb records (This game is $30 and permanently out of stock, so it must be rare! I'll sell it for $15) I really wanted to harass her and offer like $2 for all, but I restrained myself. Next time though *hahaha*

The seasons off to a slow but fun start.

Lastly, last week I met the guy who screenplayed planet of the apes remake, and I picked that up at my first sale.

Today pretty much sucked, but it was better than the last time I went a few weeks ago. I got:

Command and Conquer Generals Demo Disc: 25 cents
3 Star Trek Fotobooks: 75 cents
Billy Idol CD: 2 dollars
Bush Alleys and Motorways VHS: 50 cents

I left late today, and that was a horrible mistake, because at pretty much all the yard sales, people said the dreaded "You missed out" when I asked them about video games. I am keeping everything except the Bush VHS, which I will post on Ebay, or if anybody wants to trade I will trade.

so all of the sudden the number of yard sales in my area exploded. there are like 20 going on on Saturday. so i was wondering if there are any key words that you guys use to prioritize your stops (to minimize the dreaded "i just sold some of those". i live in a college town (in Utah) so I've come upon a lot of baby stuff when it said "toys' so skeptical of those kinda words. any help is greatly appreciated.

This morning, I got up and it was freezing, but there was a citywide garage sale that was still open, so I went. There were a bunch of sales, but only one had games. The person wanted 3 dollars a pop for a bunch of shitty playstation sports games, so I grabbed all 11 and CIF'd 10 bucks, which is extremely generous for those kind of games. The person refused to sell them for that much, and then some old lady comes from the house and says "Well, those are 50 dollar games you know". I just rolled my eyes and almost broke out laughing. I was thinking of commenting by saying "Well, maybe 10 years ago" and almost commented by saying that they are sports games and obsolete, but I didn't want to piss anybody off. I just left and laughed my ass off while driving away.

Not a bad day, at least I found something. Big neighborhood sale right by my neighborhood. I wasn't very confident because I think my main competition lives nearby and they have been schooling me so far this year. I get to the sales, no mentions of anyone looking for games, so I am thinking I am in good shape. Bad thing is, no one had anything! At least at a reasonable price. One family had a PSOne, two controllers, and 3 nondescript games without cases. I offered $10, but she said her neighbor just sold hers for $50. I just said good luck and went on my way.

The last stop in the neighborhood sale got me this:

Sega Genesis Unit with one controller, video hookups, and no power cord (damn it). Also these Genesis games:
College Football USA 96
Triple Play 96
NHL 95
Mortal Kombat II
Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun
Mutant League Hockey
Mutant League Football
Rugby World Cup 95
Bass Masters Classic
6-Pak
John Madden Football 93
$10

My adventures were cut pretty short today because of my daughter's soccer season. I did hit one more sale though and came up with this:

3DO Games
Road Rash (No Case)
Foes of Ali
3Do Sampler Disc
Slam n Jam 95
Crash n Burn

PS1 Game
Nascar 98

FREE

The lady said her husband told her to just get rid of them, so she did.

Good luck to everybody else.

I didn't have much luck on thursday. I passed by this one sale to visit two others which ended up having nothing. I visited that one I passed earlier in the day on the way home and found the nes. The nes actually works, so I can test a few NES games I'm wanting to sell. The box isn't in that great of shape and I'll probably fix up one of my other NES system and sell it with the box. I didn't do any haggling since I really didn't have any small bills.

On Friday, I went to this church rummage sale. Unfortunately, I didn't get there when they started since I had to wait to defog my windows. Both games are in good condition and complete. I already have both games. I just picked them up to sell on ebay. I'm trying to pay off the PS3 I got from Gamefunk. I'll probably won't do too much ebaying after this because of all the fees. I didn't haggle here either. I've never felt comfortable haggling at a church rummage sale.

The season has begun but rather slowly in my area...and it rained. Luckily, there was a fund raiser sale on the campus parking lot! I picked up a beat-up DreamCast with two first party controllers (one red! I didn't have a red one!) and all cables, with a lame game inside of it for $5. GW and thrifts were a bust, too.

However, I also hit the local GS/EB's and GC to get a couple of OverLord since they're $15ish used at GameStop (after edge and coupon) and trade for $28 at BlockBuster/1000 Pts on Goozex...and it also looks like a cool game. And then the morning became worth it.

DDR Mario Mix. Brand new, seal on the box is broken but the game and pad are still sealed and mint, $48 AC.

GameCrazy, oh, GameCrazy. Obscure: The Aftermath (Wii, mint/complete) $18, Obscure (PS2, disc-only) $13.50, and Fatal Frame 3 (PS2, disc-only) $13.50. Considering they're easily worth $50ish or more apiece, I didn't mind finding them disc-only -- but they're for the collection and playing!

First real outing of the season. Hit up a town wide sale about 15 minutes from home .
No outstanding finds but did manage to get some decent stuff

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2431/1001504ky9.jpg

4 complete N64 games (Mario party)
misc controllers, plugs, mmory cards etc.
TOTAL - $3

Guy had the 4 games marked $1 ea. which I scoffed up and asked for other stuff. He pointed to the bag and said anything in there is $1, as I looked I chatted with him about how the weather held off (rain forcasted) yada, yada, yada. I then CIF'd $3.

http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/7581/1001507lg6.jpg

FC Twin
TOTAL: $3

This was the only game related item at this sale. Marked $5, I CIF'd $2 which was countered with $3. I caved and forked over the $3.

http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/1255/1001508oq2.jpg

Jungle Green N64 w/expansion
TOTAL: $4

This sale had a few different systems and some crappy games. They had a NES marked $20.
I have 1 or 2 of these green N64 already but figured I could put it up for trade for a different colored N64 . (I'm trying to get them all) Anyway I CIF'd $4 not expecting the lady to bite but she did. If anyone wants to trade for a orange/ red/ purple let me know

http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/7053/1001509xk5.jpg

PS2 all hookups and memory card
Genesis 2 w/ 12 games nothing noteworthy
PS2 bowling game
RE3 Dreamcast
TOTAL $10

Asked for games at this sale and the lady said come back in a 1/2 hour she had to dig them out. So when I returned she had a stack of PS2 games and a short stack of DC games mostly sports. I picked out the RE3 and bowling game and she said $1 each before I could even make an offer. she then said I have this stuff here as well and she pointed to a box containing the PS2 and a bag w/ the genesis. I was going to CIF $10 for everything but thought that would be rejected, so I asked how much for all and I got the old "make me an offer" again not expecting to be accepted I CIF'd 10 spread out singles and she took it. She also mentioned she had a N64 with 30 or 40 games but could'nt find. I left my number

http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/7382/1001510wn0.jpg

PS1 system
TOTAL - $1

Asked for games at this sale and the lady went in the house and came out with the system
I was going to pass when she said take it for a $1

http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/4969/1001512yj3.jpg

Colecovision system with like 10 controllers extra power supplies and hookups
atari rollerball.
TOTAL: $2

I bought this from a lady that I had purchased a large NES lot from a couple of years back.
She has frequent sales and I know her husband has a lot of games and systems. I asked
if she had anything and she said she knew I would be by and pointed to a box under the table and said I was holding it for you. She then told me her husband was going to throw it out but she held it for me. Not really wanting anything other than the 2 super controllers I asked how much for them and she said "what will you give me" I responded with $2. she said OK and take the whole box !

Damn Snotknocker, nice finds. I wish sales by me didn't suck so badly.

I am hooking up that DC in my dorm today though -- I'm bringing my PS2 with the crappy LCD from the KB clearance; it has inputs on the back (I don't have the room for a TV in my dorm, nor a spare TV to lug there) and going to set up a nice little media center around my desk, since the whole "cut myself off from anything fun" at my dorm is actually driving me mad and resulting in me going home just to play games and de-stress.

Great finds Snot!

Speaking of colored N64's - I was just going over our N64 console finds. We've picked up about 12 over the last few years, and every single one was black. I too wanted to collect all the colors, but funnily anytime we came across a colored N64, the seller was asking too much and we had to pass. We're definitely due some colored N64's!

Here I find N64's all the time but never colored ones, im starting to think they didnt sell them in this part of the country. I found 12 at garage sales last year, 11 blackones and a pikachu edition. When I lived in Kansas there were colored ones everywhere.

I had an okay day.

Phoenix Wright Justice for all $5
Zelda Collector's Edition strategy guide $1
Starfox 64 nintendo power guide .50
Zelda Ocarina of Time prima guide .50

I picked up Phoenix Wright at the house of this lady who has a lot of cats. It kind of smelled there, but the game was complete and didn't smell. I'm not going to go back for the genesis bundle since I think that was in the garage and probably smells. That would be a pain to clean. I bought this to sell since I need money to pay off the ps3 I just bought. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it gets much. Oh well, this will be a good game to play when I can find a DS.

I found the zelda collectors guide at a house that's had a lot of cool electronics every year. The guy also had a sony laserdisc player that tempted me, but I don't have the money for it right now. I'm debating on whether or not to put this on ebay. I could use the $40 it goes for, but I'm tempted to put it into my guide collection.

I got the other two guides at a sale I visited after I went back out this afternoon.

Today was amazing for me. Lots of sales in my area though I only went to 6-7. At the first one, a lady had a genesis 3 bundle that she was trying to sell. It came with the arcade style controller and a few games. She wanted 15, I offered 5, she wouldn't go lower than 10, so I passed. She seemed a reasonable lady and called her daughter to see if 5 would be ok. Someone with more experience, how would you have handled it, because I def could see snotknocker getting it for $2 or something rediculous.

Anyway, my big haul of the day came from one sale. First a see a third party guitar hero controller with guitar hero 1. It's 40, I offer 20, she counters with 30, I buy for 25. Its wireless, but doesn't have a reciever, so i have no clue if it works. *Just realizes this now*

But now my greatest yard sale purchase ever, 15 boxes of comics (each holding about 200) from the 80's to the present for $100!!

PICS LATER.

Yay, it's yard sale season around here! I tried to get things kicked off yesterday, but there were only a few sales open that weren't super far away. Then all but one of them decided not to do it. So, just one sale yesterday, which yielded:

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/5724/dsc04563lp0.jpg

- Radio Shack S-Video/RCA switch
- Gravis PC GamePad
- Leather office chair
Total: $6

Today kicked off with a sale at a nearby expo center, it cost $2 to enter, so I was hoping for some good finds. Passed on one of the Burger King Xbox games, some PS1 trash, and then found...

http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6976/dsc04564ck9.jpg

- Gray N64 controller in great condition
- 24: The Game
Total: $4

There was a super yellowed SNES, a green N64, and three or four copies of Mario Bros./Duck Hunt for $2 each, so I was glad to get these for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, 24 is super scratched and needs a resurfacing.

Found a seller with a Sega Saturn RF adapter still in the box and two Saturn demo discs. Decided to offer a buck for the three, but the seller got absolutely flabbergasted. "What? Hey, hold on, let me see these... These are video games!" "Kinda, they're just demos. $1 for both?" "No, $5 each, these are video games!" He took them from me and put them back.

"All games $5" is an interesting thing. It can be overpriced if it's lots of sports, racing, or Burger King games, but I picked out a few diamonds in the rough at another booth.

http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/993/dsc04565cq0.jpg

- Donkey Konga 2
- Mario Party 5
- Mario Party 7
Total: $10

Donkey Konga 2 is in good condition, but I already have it so it's for trading. Both Mario Parties were very scratched up, so I was able to argue a "Buy 2 get 1 free" deal by showing how scratched up MP7 was. Ironically, MP7 works great, but MP5 does not. I've gotta find a good way to fix this and 24.

Next was a quick and easy find. NES games at 50 cents each, so I grabbed the ones I didn't have yet.

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/614/dsc04566ql3.jpg

- Baseball
- Ice Hockey
- Contra
- The Legend of Zelda
Total: $2

Next it was off to the suburbs. Found a cheap new optical mouse for $3 to replace the worn out one my family's been using for years and years. A few stops later, we came across a guy with three boxes of items that were more or less Best Buy "open items". There was an Intec Wii remote charge kit for $10, an Intec zapper knockoff for $10, but I grabbed...

http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/453/dsc04567zm3.jpg

- Dynex memory card reader
- Intec Wireless GameCube controller
Total: $10

Both are working great, but the Intec wireless dongle doesn't fit on top of my Wii next to the Wavebird dongles. Fortunately, I only have two Wavebirds, so player three will just be doomed to be wired.

The last few sales weren't too eventful, but I picked up a couple other fun things:

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/4290/dsc04568hc2.jpg

- Nyko GBA FM Tuner
- 2 10-packs of Floppies
Total: $0.50

Grabbed the FM tuner just for the heck of it, and picked up the floppies just because they were 10 cents. They said to just take the other box and get them out of there. I'm sure I'll never need them all, but my trusty few I use for BIOS flash disks and such are starting to go bad.

http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2301/dsc04569mk8.jpg

- Hey You, Pikachu!
- Nightmare Creatures
Total: $4

Sure, it's overpaying a bit, but I can't haggle when it's a little kid selling his old games. Also, what a ten year old was doing with Nightmare Creatures was beyond me. Snagged all is games that weren't WWF, WCW, or NWO.

Wow, today was awesome. While the past two weeks sucked ass for garage sales, today was the total opposite. I bought:

NES top loader with controller and power supply- 5 bucks (YES!)
Gameboy with part of charger and wrestling game- 5 bucks
PS1 Pinball game- 1 buck
Jak and Daxter disc only- 1 buck
6 X-Box games, mostly sports- 3 bucks
2 Guide Books (Soul Caliber 2)- 1 buck
Sonic 2 Genesis- 50 cents
Bee Gee's Record- 1 dollar

This week was terrrible!! 60% chance of rain so most sales were canceled. There was a huge indoor city wide sale but they had no games, I picked up some tools and stereos to flip at the pawnshop.

out of the 3 outdoor sales that were open today only one siad that they had games but someone had already stopped by and got them all. so i missed a PS1 with games, PS2 with games, Xbox with games, and a bunch of Wii games.

I was thinking about this thread today. I was walking to work and I saw a sign about a yard sale..I think tomorrow (or at least next week) I'll start going out.

I think I want to make a list of things I wanna score for cheap, and I think a cheap ass N64 would be great :-k (The colorful kind!)

I seem to find more copies of Star Wars Episode I Racer & Donkey Kong 64 than I know what to do when I go to yard sales.

EDIT: No yard sales until I find a job. :(

Sell the DK 64's, I always grab everythign that i find cheap....then resell and use the cash for the next weekends scavenging.

Yeah, I was thinking that when we bought it. I actually forgot we had a gold N64 from a trade with a coworker, but still it's nice to finally get a colored N64 at a yardsale.

Unfortunately Missouri weather sucks but I was able to still get t oa few sales today. I found the following:

This sale had a few PS2 games but NASCAR2005 was not on my top titles to pick up. However I did spot the following and picked it up:

Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeonic Front

I tried to CIF $2 for it but they were insistant on $3. still cheap enough.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2425880617/

This sale I came up to, I initially saw a PSOne in the box for 35$. I chuckled a little and then saw a complete boxed Super Scope. I scooped it up and noticed that the price was only $3. Not a bad deal.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2426694964/

This was not major story here. I found the 1st and 2nd volunes of 2005 secret codes. I CIF'ed $1 for both and it was good.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mirpkered/2425880251/

After snooping around at the sale, I finally asked asked if any games were available. After the husband found some games her brought them out. I picked up these 2 for $10:

Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

Not a bad deal I thought. I tried to go lower but he was firm with $10.

Disgaea COMPLETE, MINT
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 PS2, COMPLETE, MINT
Chrono Trigger SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Earthbound SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Super Mario RPG SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Kirby Superstar SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Donkey Kong Country 2 SNES, COMPLETE, MINT
Donkey Kong Country 3 SNES, COMPLETE, MINT

All for $35. I got really lucky. The second sale didn't have much. Alot of overpriced sports games. What a bust.

This (http://www.vidgame.net/NINTENDO/gold64.htm)is the one we have. I don't think it's technically an Ocarina edition but I'm pretty sure they bundled Ocarina with the gold system at one point. We have yet to get the Pikachu edition.

Update: Still no pics, but Since I realized the guitar controller didn't have the receiver, I took it back and asked. The dad who used to own it wasn't there so the wife looked inside and got me the ps2 receiver. It wasn't till I got home till I realized it was the WRONG ps2 wireless receiver. Still unresolved. However, I asked if they were selling any ps2 accessories/games, and she says maybe and she'll ask her husband. I leave my #. Then she asks if I have a ps2, and I say I did but broke it (truth, while trying to mod it to play my import jap games and guitar hero hacks). She goes to the trunk of her car and gives me a perfect condition phat ps2 with no wires. I tried it when I got home and it works perfectly. Now if I can just get the right receiver I will be a really happy man. The best yard sale I've ever been to.

Snotknocker doesn't come in with "hey I just happened to find the 10 rarest and most in demand games across numerous consoles at the one sale I hit up!" posts. Though I am suspicious of the pittances claimed to be paid for various scores from him and others, because most are way too ridiculously good to be true. Not saying they're not legit scores or calling anyone a liar, but sorry, I guess I'm just naturally skeptical (cough cough Snotknocker, Moeity, etc.).

Now this guy, however, came in here, went to all of 2 yard sales, and happened to come across a large quantity of some of the most in demand games across a variety of systems for pennies on the dollar? Ninja please! Earthbound MINT COMPLETE, lol! You should have just said "Earthbound BIG BOX WITH GUIDE SEALED!", just as 'believable'...

NJ is pretty good but I hit 40 or so yard sales on average a week and my finds aren't near Snotknocker's so it's not all a gold mine. Frankly in my ten+ years of yardsailing I have had very few finds that match the ones he seems to have on a regular basis.

also don't be afraid to ask if they have any videogaems they want to sell, I have had many sales where the person says..."Well i have a super nintendo inside that we dont play and i didnt think was worth putting out here." usualy people that bring a system out will take any CIF ammount you show.

If you don't mind me answering your question as well, I mostly ebay my dupes that I find. Last year I came across 4 FF7s and for the most expensive one paid $15 for it complete. I have yet to trade with any CAG yet as I am using the money from ebay to help fund a trip to Belgium and also to finish my NES library (only about 100 titles to go...)

On one other side note, I actually asked Snotknocker if I could hang out with him last year too but have yet to leave Missouri to even attempt it. This week, my cousin and I cleaned out my Grandma's shelf, and have took the books in seven times in the past week. Each time, a different person checks it, and they'll take different books. We have gotten $300 credit total. And after the seventh time, we took it to this bookstore right next to bookman's. They bought $40 more worth of books, and we looked on the board that said what books bookman's wants, bought them there, and sold them to them. lol

If I remember correctly my friend brought a few books that bookmans didnt want, but they still gave her $3 credit for the effort and she kept the books. They are high priced, but they are also universally priced on some items like comics. All comics are .50, but I found VF+/NM- Jack Kirby Captain America comics for .50 each, which is a great price, but for a 90's image book not so much.

It is a small chain with 6 locations in AZ. Here is their website: http://www.bookmans.com/

I believe they have two types of credit A and B. They give you playing cards to turn in for credit. The system sounds similar to the one you described.
