I received some hd-dvd movies for X-mas and I finally have time to do something about it. The person who gave them to me no longer has the receipt but he told me they were purchased at best buy. the thing is, I don't have an hd-dvd player; only blu-ray.

so does anyone know if it's possible to exchange the hd-dvd movies (3 of them) at best buy without a receipt? I don't care if I exchange them or get a giftcard or whatever. I have time today but I just want to make sure.

thanks

p.s. i wish knocked up was on blu-ray. such a great movie.

I've done it before but only with a single item (not three), it might be possible though. Also, you need a drivers license and you won't be able to return something at Best Buy [without a receipt] for three years.

Holy Crap, 3 years?

In any case, yes you can do it right now without a receipt. Just explain to the Customer Service Rep the situation...they are taking back unopened merchandise without a receipt for a limited period of time and giving store credit.

I just did this with a Blu-ray I received for Christmas. The lady first asked for the phone number of the person who bought it for me. She tried to see if she could look up that persons Rewards account. That way, if it was on there, it wouldn't count as a no receipt return. In my case, the person didn't have a rewards card, so she said everyone is allowed a no receipt return once per year. So you should be fine.

Yeah they look it up through reward zone, otherwise odds are you are sol -_-

if they cant find it, odds are no go.. especially here in ohio

My Best Buy tends to be cool with no receipt exchanges as long as it is less than $100 worth of merchandise and you are exchanging for something of greater value.....they don't like to give store credit for any leftover money.

This happend to me, but it was the first time I returned something without a receipt. For some reason the computer came up saying I returned too many items in the past year (?) even though I didn't return anything without a receipt. So the manager had to override it.

I have probably done 5-6 returns without a receipt to Best Buy in the past 12 monthes. Everytime I just got store credit without much of a hassle. The store is in Iowa that I have done this at. I wouldn't worry about it because from my history I think you should be fine.

I returned a game and 4 blu-rays without a reciept on Wednesday. You are allowed one return per year, so make it count. :p

4 items? I thought it was 1 item per year not 1 whole transaction, where people can bring in a bunch of items
