The new deal with the 12 game rentals is in new post below.

Buy.com now has the Metroid Prime platinum GameCube bundle available for preorder. Unfortunately shipping is not free ($8.79 for me) BUT, no sales tax. Says shipping on 8-9:

Is it just a normal platinum GC or is there anything different about it?

It is a regular platinum GameCube.

I don't understand why they didn't give it a cool faceplate.

Hell, I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't sell cool faceplates in general.

That one on EB's wedbsite claims it is black. So if you want a black console then buy it from EB.

I saw two of these at the TRU in Times Square today.

It clearly stated (and showed a picture of) a platinum system.

They aren't out till the 15th, you probably saw an ad for them.

Nope, they were on the shelf, right in the Gamecube section. Picked one up, there was definitely a system (or a brick or two) inside.

It's the flagship Times Square store, so maybe they have a special deal to put them out early. Or they don't care.

Most TRU stores got these in last week. But they posted a huge notice saying stores were not supposed to sell them until August 11th or they could face penalties from Nintendo. Although, many stores sold them early. So check TRU tomorrow if you want the bundle from them.

I have been waiting to get a gamecube. This is the deal that is going to make me buy it. I will get it on the 15th.

TRU in Downer's Grove(IL) had about 6 out for sale this past Sunday. Clerk pulled one out from the case and didn't mention any restriction on selling it.

I saw it today at Target . Two where standing behind the glass. Yep it's silver. I think I'm ready for a new Cube and critically acclaimed Tales of Symphonia

Here's an even better deal on the Metroid bundle from Game Crazy. You also get 12 free Hollywood Video rentals with purchase ($72 value). Says "Available 8-15" for them.

I agree. I think Nintendo should make faceplates for all of their major games. They could make a ton of money buy selling them at Gamestops and EBs.

Maybe it's time to get a cube, I'm sure Frys, BB or CC will have a bundle that throws in another free game.

I'd like one of the boxes for my display, that's for sure... too bad I don't need a Cube... though my power button sticks, it's still not something that'd make me buy a new one over.

I love the box though, amazing art, very cool stuff.

Do you know if they are video rentals or game rentals? And can use them at any Hollywood Video? Just wondering because I might get a gamecube especially for this type of deal.

I thougt I might add that you can use them at any Hollywood and that the 12 rentals are per month. You get a Jan coupon, Feb one, Mar, etc. Still, a pretty good deal though.

The ad just says Hollywood Video rentals, so I'm guessing either game or movie.
Just a note, Gamestop's website says "ships in 24 hours", so if you're going to order, I'd order from there. Plus, their shipping is $1.99. EB still says "ships on 8-14" and their cheapest shipping is $2.99.

Does anybody know if these are the new Gamecube model? The one that doesn't have a component output.

Just picked one up :D . As for the box, it looks just as cool as in the pictures but its also like metallic shiny. However, its not actually a box though, its a slip case ala the ps2 online bundle pack slipcase. The box is just the standard platinum one.

What's the deal with no component output that Jonas was talking about? Does that mean I'd be stuck with S-video or composite only? The Metroid bundle was going to be my first Cube but now I have to reconsider.

btw.. what kind of audio output does the cube have?

My Metroid Bundle has the same video out puts as all the others, one for rf/composite/s-video and another input for component. As for the audio, there is no optical out for the GC.

Im pretty sure that most late models do not contain component output. Component is the top tier of digital display with A/V at the bottom and S-video in the middle. Most games on GC don't support 1080i anyways do they?

Eidet fro grammer biches!
