Just watched the noon news and the breaking news was that rick james has just died. I know how things like this break on the net, but unless kcal 9 is wrong it seems he has past away. No details were given as to what caused his death.

Wow. RIP. It must have been something "super-freak"y.
<_<
>_>
Maybe a daring new sexual position?
Maybe snorting some drano?
Maybe one of the women that he beat up got the better of him?
..Or, maybe he just curled into a fetal position & died of natural causes.
We shall see.
I'm not dead, bitch! (sorry, I had to do that)

I generally believe Drudge, in that what I see there is usually echoed by the other news media pretty quickly. And 'official' websites aren't updated all that quickly either, probably have to figure out how to say it, what to say, etc. I'm not finding any confirmation yet.
Did find this:
"Southern rock patriarch Lacy Van Zant dies"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5613265/
and
"Alice Cooper’s snake rushed to vet
Rocker’s albino python swallowed heating pad"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5624844/
Not a good couple of days for classic musicians....
Yep, CNN.com's Breaking News banner...I still remember seeing Phil Hartman's murder shown there : (

Actually, it was a few hits. Plus he was a producer. He also marketed a new sound in the early 80's called punk funk. He had a few proteges that released albums too. Most people under the age of 30 or so might only know him from Chappelle's show.

I was in a local taqueria a few weeks ago and "Mary Jane" came on the radio, not a single person didn't sing along -including the chef.

I was at a water park a couple of weeks ago and some wanker kept yelling "I'm Rick James Bitch!!!!" when he would go down the slides. Must've heard him a dozen times that day. What a friggin' tool. I wanted to bitch slap him.

The album was fairly successful. Compared to his various arrests I'd say it was easily among his best judgements. The guys who produce the boys bands and teen queen flavor of the month ilk may not get much mileage with that info as pick up lines in bars but they're crying all the way to the bank.

I was also going to echo this...I just told my sis and she can't believe it. Hell, he was 56...PTI said of "natural causes...kind of hard to believe usually hear of that someone in their 70's or older...guess he got a lot (drugs, women, etc.) out of his short life...Wonder how Chappelle show will handle his skits from now on, maybe give him and the "I'm rick james, bitch" phrase a send off....

A couple days ago when this happened I was watching a Tiger game on tv with my dad when he just starts going "I'm dead bitch" over and over for about 5 minutes. Finally I say, "I can ignore you no longer, what the hell are you talking about" to which he replies, "I'm dead bitch, cocaine is a helluva drug" it was at this point I realized the world had lost a legendary impersonation.
