the show previous to x play was so much better. It was just adam and he would get around to calmly reviewing inteligently many more games in one half hour than they do now with all of their corny jokes. Seemed that show had newer episodes more often than now which requires planning and sketch setups. Ahh how nice it is to bog something down with the unnessasary.

I gotta agree with it being the best out there, but since G4 took over they've just been rerunning year old shows like they do with all their other stuff. Its cool and all but who cares about E3 from last 2003

This is easily one of the most embarasing shows on TV for the gamer today. It's immature, unprofessional, annoying, and highly uniformative. The reviews have a joke every line (none of which work) and neither Neither Adam or Morgan can act at all. Both of them look embbarrased to be there. It's absolutely appaling.

I'm not even going to mention Tallarico. Love the game music, but the man should stick to it. Victor Lucas is tolerable, Tommy is not.

Yeah, Judgement Day sucks . . . Tommy isn't even trying to be helpful . . .

Xplay is ok . . . I DVR episodes and watch them in about 10 minutes each . . .

I liked Pulse better when it was a half hour long . . . G4 (before and after merger with TechTV) is mostly a let down.

Actually, just recently they've started showing newer episodes of X Play. The marathon today (from the one episode I saw and the Info in the cable box guide) was newer episodes (Riddick, Karaoke Revolution 2, etc.). It was all post-E3 stuff, at least. Judgment Day is decent, but I HATE Tommy Tallarico. Overall, X Play isn't a great show, but it's better than most of the other stuff (G4TechTV.com, Players, Sweat). Still, my favorite TechTV shows would probably be The Screen Savers and Icons. Pulse is decent, in small doses.

I can tolerate X-Play for about twenty minutes at a time. After that I change the channels because I get tired of Morgan putting a ton of emphasis on the curse words. She's got to be the one of the worst co-hosts on TV today. Adam is alright and it at least sounds like he plays the games.

What pisses me off about the show is how nearly every single game gets a 3 out of 5. How are they helping purchase decisions when almost every game is rated the same? My brothers and I joke about how they give that score to the games they didn't actually play.

I can't stomach the other gaming shows on G4TechTV. If it wasn't for The Screen Savers I probably wouldn't watch the channel at all.

No. No he isn't. He went all weird as soon as Morgan joined the show. I think he must be in lurrrrve. Either that or he's a typical gamer nerd that hasn't got a clue to act around girls. :D

I still think it's a decent show though, and miles better than Electric Playground. Somebody needs to take Tommy Tallarico out the back and give him a good kicking. He's appalling.

I agree they bash everygame unless it is a big hit title, they do not give half way decent or even low budget titles a chance as soon as they see that it is a low budget title they flame it

i remember on x-play i think they had the most uncomfortable moments in gaming .. that was one episode that got me lmao otherwise that show isnt all that great i'll just watch it if nothing is on (which seemingly at that hr there is nothing good on.. -.-) but i saw part of the marathon today passed the time pretty umm "well"

i enjoy x-play quite a bit. morgan is easy on the eyes, and adam has his moments, especially when you can tell he's making shit up on the spot. they obviously don't play through the games themselves, but the reviews are decently written for them and generally agree with industry consensus.

as for judgement day, tommy tallericco is a plague on this earth. he has stupid biases, and takes review points off if he doesn't like the name of a game. victor lucas seems like a good guy, and generally knows what he's talking about. if you watch the show and just ignore tommy's comments and score, you'll have a pretty good idea of what games to get and which ones to avoid.

Im not sure if it was her, but you're probably thinking of Kate Botello, who was the original co-host with Leo on the Screensavers From 1998-2000. She left the Screensavers, went on hiatus for a while and came back on Extended Play as the co-host with Adam Sessler from 2000-2002. I liked her a whole lot more than Morgan Webb (who also got her start on the Screensavers) but she didn't seem to have as much chemistry with Adam Sessler (who has been on the show since it started on ZDTV in 1998).

As for the debate about X Play, its much better than Extended Play. Theres no question about that. Extended play was about as boring to watch as an infomercial for one of Ron Popeils new gadgets. As far as comparing it to something like Judgment Day from G4 (which I didn't get prior to the merger) I can't really say that either is really that much better than the other. Morgan Webb isn't as annoying to me, but then again I thought she was annoying when she was on the Screensavers acting as if she had a clue about 9/10ths of the stuff that was being discussed. At least on X play, she seems to at least have an interest in the games, and she has WAY more chemistry with Adam Sessler than Kate did, which makes the show a bit easier to watch.

As far as X Play's ratings, I've heard more complaints about them giving popular games bad ratings than giving every game a 3 out of 5. And a lot of games get 3...out of 5s, which is obvious cause 3...out of 5 is an AVERAGE game. X Play has given out a handful of 4 and 5 out of 5s, but also a few 1 and 2 out of 5's as well. For the most part, the majority of games on consoles are nothing but average games, and they get stuck with the dreaded 3...out of 5. And there's nothing wrong with these games really.. description of a 3...out of 5 game from X Play forums:

These are fun-to-play, pretty solid titles with a few minor flaws. This is not a poor rating. Most games will fall into this category. There's just little to differentiate this title from the rest of the pack. The game lacks technical or design polish but is still enjoyable. It'll certainly appeal to fans of the genre.

So I don't know why anyone would complain that they give out a lot of 3...out of 5s, because that shows that they are not very loose with their 4 and 5 ratings which they do save for games that are deserving. Just as a game has to be pretty horrible to get a 1 out of 5 (Charlie's Angels, Aquaman..), a game would have to be pretty exceptional to get a 5 out of 5.(Viewtiiful Joe..)

I finally got Satellite, after 6 years of no cable and only 5 channels and after reading this thread I decided to try and catch X-Play. I did, and I have to say it has some of the most stiff deliveries I have EVER seen. Neither the guy or girl have ANY business being hosts of a show. At one point I saw the guy's eyes moving along has he read directly from cues offscreen. Truly lame. Their review also seem to base heavy emphasis on the game's name and graphics. If it's not fully 3d with particle effects and bump mapping, then it gets knocked down a point. It's not a terrible show, but it's not all that great either. I must now watch this "Judgement Day" you speak of. Can anyone give me a time, EST, that it may be on?

I know how you feel. For the longest time my parents did not think they needed more then 5 channels. Now that we have Direct TV I doubt they could go back.
