Not interested in this, but I guess it'll appeal to somebody out there.

Just what PSP needs... more non-games. You would need to have an Internet connection, so I guess it would be useful at a coffee shop or someplace like that. And free calls from home without your computer, but there are cheaper devices you can buy than a PSP to do that.

With the headset that was released for Socom FTB, this would be perfect actually. Just put the headset on and you're set. Considering the headset is $20 or less, this is a pretty nice feature. In the case of my girlfriend and i, we only have 1 cellphone between the two of us, so now she can have the cell and i could use the PSP if needed.

Blech. More junk. Also, why are we treating a rumor as true? I doubt this will happen by the way, but i'll report if my Sony rep mentions anything or anyone else I know there.

Looks like this is legit.

Click on the Dual Shock controller and then, on the right hand side of the screen, scroll to the bottom of the PSP System Features text.

Cool.

I probably won't use it very much, but there's no reason to complain about it since it will probably be free.

Looks like there's an extension to this rumor: The Skype service will start this month and will only be available to PSP Slims.

All sounds fine by me. I'm also hoping for other firmware updates as well.

This sounds really awesome however the inability of the PSP to latch onto open wifi networks automatically kills it.

You know what else is disappointing? PSP Slim only. :bomb:

Guess I'll have to count on Dark Alex to give me the goods that Sony failed to do.

I sadly only have the original PSP, too bad.

We use skype a fair bit to save on long distance as our family is 5500km's away. Being able to use the PSP would be great, as our laptop's battery is dead, so it is really not that portable.

I actually saw that yesterday while surfing my usual PSP websites. It's certainly promising. I'm going to wait until they have a more fleshed out version or Dark Alex finds a way to add the functionality to the Phat.
