View Full Version : Amazon DOTD: Eye Of Judgement with PS3 Eye $44.99
Reverenddave

Amazon's Deal Of The Day is The Eye Of Judgment (with the Playstation Eye Camera). Price is $44.99. Their usual price is around $65. They sell the Eye alone for $33, so this is a pretty good deal.

You both posted at the same time and his is more than a thumbnail with a price. I'd consider yours the repost if anything.

i know one thing's for sure. you can put your face on the in game license for burnout paradise (mentions that in the demo). does that warrant the purchase of the camera....no, but just letting you know. :bouncy:

I agree and jumped on it right at 3am. I was going to buy the Eye camera a few hours ago for $33. For an extra $12 you get the stand and the game. I'm not a fan of card games, but I'm willing to give it a try. And if I don't like it, I'm pretty sure I can sell off the game and card pack for $15-$20.
If anyone's interested, there's a good video review of the Eye camera here:

In addition to the drivers license photo in Burnout, when you're online and you make someone crash, the camera takes a picture of their reaction. I've only seen it happen once, but it was hilarious.

I'm waiting for this to fall lower. I would have bitten at $40, but that extra $5 is hard for me to swallow.
Really nice discount on the price. If I had a PS3 and didn't already have an Eyetoy, I'd probably jump on this.
Just a few questions that might help other potential buyers though: does the Playstation Eye work OK as a PC webcam? And is it backwards compatible with all Eyetoy games? For that matter will it work on a PS2 as well?
Too bad it isn't an HD webcam though, it was a little confusing that they said the resolution was 3 times that of the Eyetoy when the Eyetoy could capture at 640x480...

question:
is this the like, only official camera gonna be released?
i remember seeing tech demos of a camera being used to play mini games, to be used in a fake fish aquarium, and a tech demo where a man used a cup in his hand to scoop water out of virtual water on a demo game.
is this that camera? whats its normal retail?
edit:nvm. retail is 33ish on amazon.

From what I heard, it doesn't work on PCs because it doesn't have the necessary drivers to work on a PC, since it was designed to work on the PS3. From what I understand, you could use regular PC webcams on the PS3. A recent fireware update allows this fuctionality.
Maybe one day, someone will make drivers for the PS eye... ;)

I was in too much of a frantic hurry to purchase it before it got out of stock(happened to me twice) that I didnt take the time to review details.
nub questions also.
This game any fun, last good amount of time?
Will I get stomped because I dont buy boosters?? Like if some dickface got 3 blue eyes and a Regeki and my best card is... a dark magician. rofl?
if no one cares to answer thats alright, i will look it up b4 the end of the day.

This game is totally worth it for $45. I got it for Christmas and it's a blast, especially if you have someone to play against. It really surprised me how quick and useful the camera is with this game. Be warned though single-players, the computer is TOUGH.

To answer someone's question above, you CANNOT use the Playstation Eye in place of your Eye Toy.
Also, printing proxy cards works since the camera isn't that high of a resolution and sadly(?) that's what most people online do.
So the idea of raking in tons of money from the cards is kinda backfiring on Sony and Hasbro.
I just got a PS3 yesterday and still had no games so I'm jumping on this. Worse comes to worse I'll just trade it in at Gamestop.

I actually think SONY has a tons of plans for the camera--there's already half a dozen PSEye programs / games to download on the PSN; and, like a previous poster mentioned, you can use it in Burnout Paradise for: 1) taking your license photo; and 2) it takes a snap-shot of your face a few seconds after every major crash and shows it to your opponent. Neat, huh?

I've got it. Not a big card games guy, but I was curious to see how it worked. Its a fun game, even in single-player quickmatch. The cards are tough to find though - GS is the only place that seems to carry them and they are frequently sold out. If you bite, prolly worth it to add some $4 boosters or the $15 packaged decks as well. Good price.
FYI don't download the Aquarium thing from the PSN - it does absolutely nothing - as far as I can tell it isn't even interactive. Haven't tried any of the others.

daminion, you CAN play two player on the same machine, but you'll need two decks. And actually, you don't even need the PS3 if you're playing in person, you can just play with the cards.

Thanks OP. Totally jumped on this deal. I was going to buy this at regular price. I was hooked on it after visiting my friends place who randomly bought it. We didn't even play the Judgment game, just played with the free download software from PSStore. We spent almost an entire evening pissing our pants from laughing so hard. His girlfriend thought we were crazy. We almost didn't go out that night to just stay in and BS with the Eye. So, if you're on the fence for this, pick it up with this deal. I'm sure now that I actually have the game and the Eye, we'll try the Judgment game. Not to mention have conference calls now to just BS and catch up. Totally worth it at this price. So glad it dropped.

too bad it doesnt have single player. Just so people don't get confused, you can play by yourself against the computer or play online against real humans over the net.
A starter deck w/o buying boosters can still kick ass if you are smart and know how to play.
The game comes with one starter and one booster pack.

This thing looks really cool.. I want one even though I don't have a PS3. Maybe someone will release hacked PC drivers for it.. (or maybe it works for PC right out of the box). Too bad it went back up to $65 in price. I also think the stand looks nice.
I have an EyeToy (silver) and I've never even used it on my PS2. I used to have an EyeToy (black) but I bought the silver for $15 and sold the black for $25. I was planning on getting this pack and selling the game seperately on eBay.

Well it appears I am the man.. I called up amazon customer service and this is basically how the conversation went.
"Hey, this might be a stupid question but is there any way you can sell me a game for the price it was yesterday? It was the deal of the day and $45."
"No, sorry you need to pay the current price."
"There's no way you can issue a rebate or anything?"
"Well, maybe just this once."
Sweet. :bouncy:
This brings me to a question.. when I sell the game on ebay, how do you guys think I should go about it? Should I include my silver EyeToy with the game or sell them both seperately?

I got my game in the mail today. The stand is pretty cool... too bad there's no official way to make the camera point forward but I found that either resting the camera's actual form or the little platform on the top of the stand is stable enough.. cool.
