I went to the Ohio State Fair on Friday, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out about a thing called GameRiot happening on the grounds. (The only other time I could find this posted on CAG was by CheapyD on March 20 back when the tour was announced.)
Anyway, it's basically an Xbox E3 for the average guy. A huge tent housed about 75 LCD and Plasma screens hosting over 30 different games. They also had an insanely high number of Alienware computers (around 40 if I counted right).
Playable games (that I can remember) included:
Forza Motorsport
Project Gotham Racing 2
Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf
Chronicles of Riddick
Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow
Rallisport Challenge 2
Red Ninja
America's Army
Toca 2
Tony Hawk's Underground
Sid Meier's Pirates
Halo
Jade Empire
Call of Duty
ESPN NBA 2K5
ESPN NFL 2K5
ESPN NHL 2K5
ESPN MLB 2K5
Kameo
Sudeki
Shrek 2
Spiderman 2
Soul Calibur 2
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004
Tribes: Vengeance
Men of Valor
Unreal Tournament 2004
Doom 3
Conker: Live and Reloaded... advertised, listed on website, but a no show.
Many of these titles have already been released, but I found it to be cheaper to rent them all, and a lot less hassle!!! I could easily try out quite a few of the games that I had been contemplating purchasing.
The best part was the Halo tournament. I've been away from Halo since college ended this past June, but I managed to still win my first Halo game after 2 months of not even seeing the game!!! Bunch of n00bs, lol. Anyway, if you just play Halo and win, you get a free Hip Gear Xbox Controller from Blockbuster redeemable with one videogame rental/purchase. I also upgraded to an all day pass after paying $5 for an hour, to get the all day for $15. They handed out Xbox laniards with Halo 2 cards for this.
In the back of the tent, they had free Mountain Dew and free copies of the latest Xbox Magazine issue.
The Halo tournament was back at 4 PM for the Master Chief of the day competition. If you won, you got your pic on their website, a free game, and a chance to win the $500 tournament at the end of the fair. Long story short, they wouldn't let us customize controls or select color. I was stuck with a look speed of 3, after being used to only 10, and I was pleasantly *sarcasm* surprised to find myself bright yellow after dying after a killing spree... Needless to say, I lost 15 to 12 to a bunch of other scores.
I was content with the free controller and Xbox laniard though. If any of you are close to, or are planning on heading down to the Ohio State Fair, I highly recommend checking this out. I just ask that I get $25 if you win the $500 Halo Tournament.
*edit* remembered a few more games
*edit 2* website added, few more games
