I am sort of working on something and had a quick question for the CAG Community.

This wouldn't be anytime soon but is there any interest in me recording a Comic Book Based Podcast?

These poll results will have an immediate impact, even if the show doesn't appear right away. Thank you for your help with this project.

I would certainly listen to the first one at least. I have been out of comics for a while, and it would be interesting to know what's out there.

Likewise. I've stopped collecting for now and have a done of TPB's on my read list that I'll get to before I retire but I'd like to hear what's going on that I'm missing out on. Go for it.

And ask Cheapy for a raise. That'll be two podcasts.

Sure, just make sure there's some indie coverage as well.

Wombat,
You barely do anything for the CAGcast according to Cheapy. How are going to come up with any content for your own podcast?

It would depend on what you were covering. If it was all Marvel, I'd pass but I'd give it a shot if it was more balanced.

I think that this is a good idea...I'd like a primer episode, to sort of chart out the lay of the land...you know, a noob's intro to the scene nowadays...before you jump into the nerd speak that will inevitably follow. I loved comics way back when, fell away from it, came back to read Deus Ex Machina, the Preacher series, and Y: the Last Man, but then interest left once again as I didn't know where I wanted to go from there.

Hell yes! But don't just cover all the bland superhero stuff. Cover the real under the radar indie Graphic Novels and so on.

Yea I def would. If you ever need any help just ask, my collection is rounding 12,000 issues on comicspriceguide.com.

ooo and just for your reference if you don't listen to these. These are the 2 Comic podcats I listen to so you can get geared up...

FanBoyRadio (gets the top industry interviews ie: Alan Moore, Todd McFarlane, Mark Millar, Garth Ennis, Grant Morrison ect ect..)
The Comic Book Haters ( Atlantic City NJ area based podpast)

I would love to hear a Wombat comic podcast... as long as it's focused towards Marvel. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the Civil War, Caps death, Elektra being a skrull, and the Secret Invasion. Please do it.

No, I don't read comic books.

I think it'd be pretty entertaining, and I say that as someone who's pretty much in the dark when it comes to comics. I particularly liked the idea of a "Comics 101" section or show(s) of some sort.

Bring it on fellow True Believer !!!
My bro just called me a "dork" last week because I was chuckling while listening to CAG Foreplay guest starring Wombat while we were browsing back issues at the local comic shop. I think I could get him to listen to a Wombat comic podcast. Then, when he's chuckling listening to your comic podcast, I can say "Who's the dork now ?!".

As long as you consistently trashed Marvel for the abortion that is "One More Day"...then yes.

I thought that you were more of a casual comic fan and that you mainly waited for TPB's to come out to read books. I could be wrong but I think you mentioned that in one of the podcasts. I would give it a listen, but would require some good info and discussion from current books (including indies) to keep me coming back.

I would listen to the first couple to see what they are like, but since I do not read comics at all it would be a bit difficult for me to enjoy it fully.

I am certainly not opposed to the idea though.

No unless I costar :) :). You do all the superhero stuff and I'll cover all the non-superhero stuff. And for those looking for great comic podcasts iFanboy has great audio and video podcasts.

Wombat comic book podcast FTW

I think it would be a great idea as many cags, myself included, have expressed an interest in hearing your thoughts on comics as regular spot on the cagcast. A podcast on your weekly "stack" would be awesome. I think you would definetly need at least one more person.

Possibly discuss all the comics you picked up that week and discuss the best ones and any relevant comic news for the week.

Wombat's witty banter and comics equals must hear "fake radio."

I'd listen to the first one, i'm only semi-interested in comic books so i'm not sure I'd find it all that appealing.

I get my comics from my local comic shop, but for an online retailer I've heard positive things about Discount Comic Book Service http://www.dcbservice.com/
I 've never actually ordered anything so I'm not 100% on the service but word of mouth seems good. Amazon is a good place to pick up trades at a cheaper rate as well.

As of a comic podcast, I would definately listen. I loves me my funny books even more than my video games so maybe I'm a little biased.

from the cheap ass perspective... Barnes and Nobles hour is your best bet. If you want to try out some of the mainstream comics and have a little time to kill just pull up a chair at your local Barnes and read through a couple trades.

I am so far behind in the comic book world. The only thing I still read is anthing by Garth Ennis and anything by Udon. So that is PRetty much anything Street fighter and The Punisher Max series. However I would definitley listen to the first episode and go from there. If you can get Garth Ennis as a guest I am so there!

I would not want that at all. If it is relevant to the discussion then fine, but the CAGcast is supposed to be about games, that is what the "G" stands for, lol. Anyway, just like the forum has the OTT forum, there can also be off topic podcasts, like the one Wombat is proposing here.

I'd love for wombat to do a comic book podcast.
I've tried to find one for a long time but never found one that I liked.
Most of em, the guys just sound to geeky for me, they remind me of the comic book guy from Simpsons.

Also, I'd like to hear you on a podcast without CheapyD. I thought u were great on the CAG Foreplay. It was nice to hear your opinions without CheapyD interupting you, trying to stay within 2 hours :)

Maybe. I don't read comic books but I do enjoy the storyarks and origins when people talk about them. I would personally like to listen to a nerd podcast where you talk about movies, comic books, TV shows, anime and everything else nerd related besides video games.

This fits in nicely with what I said on Blaine's "I'll pay..." thread; if we had another podcast that released on Wednesdays (perhaps the CAG Womcast) then the wait between CAGcasts would be more bearable, since we would be entertained 3 times a week.
It can be a comic-based podcast, sure. But I think CAGs are much more interested in a sitcom video podcast called "Life with the Wombats" starring Gary Coleman as Widdle Wombat...

Instead of just Comics, just do a show where you randomly talk about things that tickle your ass, like your job, politics, life, religion, hollywood, comics, and whatever else you feel like. Just have it be Wombat ranting and discussing life. Now that is a show I could sink my teeth into.

Very Cool, I do have an awesome Microphone if you do want a co-host, and I do have good experience with audio editing with audacity, since I already edit my own podcast, if your just looking for a slave intern. And I can always suggest series to read, I just borrowed this very cool comic called Ex-Machina, I highly enjoyed it, its about a superhero who winds up becoming mayor of NYC.

PS: Another Idea, having CAGs recording/writing their own reviews of comics they just read and play/read it on the podcast.

The Question

I would love the idea of CAGComCast, But I think your going to need 2 co-host or more CAG's to email in there thoughts each week. Not just so you can be lazy but so there can be a diverse opinion.

What if you start a poll each week in Podcast theard with all comics and brief description or a picture of next week comic releases like CAG Foreplay, then everyone can see what the community is reading or what the listeners wants to hear about.

I Would be happy to join Wombat army of slave interns.

Would you cover games, movies, and other comic book media as well?

I'd volunteer to be a guest on the show.

I've been out of comics for a while and have been meaning to get back into them, but I have no idea where to start. Hearing some awesome recommendations on your podcast would be very helpful.
