A little while ago I got one of those Adaptec Gamebridges off Amazon.com. It works well, I can record stuff without issues... well, mostly. I have ONE problem.

It interlaces stuff to hell.

Now, I've heard people say that I should use DScaler. I've tried it, and while it works fine for playing, it freezes and locks up my computer when I try to record ANYTHING. The only other program that works with the Gamebridge is VirtualDub... but I can't figure out how to disable interlacing with it, or what settings to use when recording. Compression and such.

So uh, can anyone help me out with this? I'd like to record some stuff for Youtube / GameTrailers. ;P

Well, when you're feeding something an interlaced scale it's obvious that that's how it'll appear on your monitor. The problem is, as you already discovered, computer monitors magnify it to all hell.

If all you're doing is just viewing these videos, I'd use VLC player. That has built in deinterlacers (there's like 7 or 8 so you have try and see which one works best) that takes care of the problem but it does require a hefty computer to do it smoothly.

There are programs which will re-encode video to fix interlacing problems as well though I'm not sure what's the best these days.
