We finally got Wi-Fi in my house (welcome to the year 1998!!) and I want to get my friend/housemate playing some games with me. What are some good smaller scale ones? I was going to fire up Starcraft, for one. Maybe Dungeon Keeper??

Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Counter Strike, pretty much any FPS, Dungeon Siege, Old RPGs (baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc.) Depends on what kind of games you like playing

I've been playing BF2142 almost every night for a couple hours for the last few months. Lately it's dropped off to more like every other night, but it's still going strong. They just released the deluxe pack, so it's a great time to get started.

I just bought BF2142 for $10 shipped. Not the Deluxe version though :(
As soon as I get a new comp, I'll try it out.
In the meantime I've been playing TF2 and BF1942. Also thinking of picking up Diablo.

All the deluxe edition offers over the regular is the Northern Strike expansion. That's a $10 download and the deluxe is $30, so you still got a great deal.

Hellgate is a lot better now. No (that I now experience) crashing bugs, extremely short load times, much more balanced skill-wise.
The DX9 engine still runs sketchy on DX10 cards, but if you have a DX10 card... you know.. you'd probably want to play with the DX10 shader.

Same here, I just bought the Deluxe Edition in late January and have been playing it non-stop! Great thing was I got it off the EA store for $19.99 + tax and free shipping since EA sent out a $10 off code a month ago I had forgot about.
A fare word of warning though if you are going to grab the Deluxe Edition of Battlefield 2142 there is currently a cd-key/account entitlement problem with the game. Many folks are getting cd-key already in use errors and the Northern Strike expansion not working. I was in the later case, where I was able to play regular 2142, Northern Strike was somehow not tied to my account during registration. Fortunately EA got this fixed up within two days for me but many, many out there still have/incountering the problems and are on there 2nd week of waiting for the issues to be fixed.
So far I've been plowing through the ranks like no tommorow. Would be great to squad up with some CAGs so shoot me your soldier names!
I'll probably be back on Steam this weekend and get soome time with PVKII beta 2.0 since it just been released. http://www.pvkii.com/
CAGFrag anyone?
