My mouse has been acting funny. The wheel for scrolling up and down does not functions correctly. And sometimes the computer detects the mouse scroll down but I'm not pressing anything. Obviously this is affecting me from playing TF2. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I'm a fan of Microsoft's offerings.

I used to be an Intellimouse Explorer person back in the day when they were one of the first optical/laser mice. After two of them broke very quickly on me I decided to switch to a Logitech G5. I've been using it for several years and it has been extremely solid. It has a great feel and comes with a configurable weighted insert so you can get it exactly as heavy as you like. I would definitely recommend it:

I would like a wireless mouse. I can't stand wires anymore. I keep yanking them accidently with my long arms and feets. I guess my budget like $40. Nothing more than that.

I use Logitech MX 1000 as my main mouse. It came with my mouse and keyboard combo. The mouse is great. Haven't had any trouble with it. However, the main thing I have against it is the charging stand. You have to fidget around a little bit to make sure it charges. Battery life is long enough so that it's not often a problem.
I use Logitech 510 on the side (whenever I can't carry my other mouse around, or the MX 1000 is charging). It is also a great mouse. It's corded though.
These are older generation of Logitech mice. Both of these mice have lasted me a couple years already, and it's still going strong.

The G5 is awesome. I got the Battlefield 2142 special edition G5 for 20 bucks off ebay. Best mouse ever.

I never used an expensive mouse other than the MX610 which isn't a gaming mouse. It works fine except it stutters every once in a rare while.
I still prefer the MX518... no worries about batteries or connection and it feels really nice.

I'm one of those yahoos who insists a wireless keyboard/mouse cause response lags in shooter games.
I'm using a Razer gaming mouse from Woot.com. $45 shipped. Every 6 weeks or so, Woot will sell a nice mouse.

Logitech G7 is really nice if you are looking for a wireless gaming mouse.

Really wired Mice and Keyboards are soooo much better. No worrying about battery's dieing on you or your signal being interrupted. Also I do think there is lag in them.

Have you tried the G7? I thought the same when I first got it, but I've never had my signal interrupted and it doesnt skip since it's a 2000dpi mouse (can be set with software).
As for batteries, it comes with 2 swappable batteries and has a charge station, so when one is about to die, you can fast swap it in about 5-10 seconds.

Budge is right. Wireless mice do have a noticable lag in them, and the battery issue was a big deal-breaker for me.

And I've read that wireless keyboard encryption (if it exists) was easily cracked in several tests. So if you're really paranoid, keep that in mind.

I'm looking for a wireless mouse with good range, say 8-10 feet. I have cheap Logitech and Microsoft brands, and I can barely use either with my new PC-to-HDTV setup sitting 6 feet away. Recommendations?
