So, I'm hopefully going to buying a Blue/Black DS lite tomorrow. Given that, what accessories, i.e. cases, car chargers, etc. should I be looking to get?
Also, I'm also open for game recommendations. I'm already planing on buying Professor Layton, all the Phoenix Wright games, and once it comes out, Ninja Gaiden. Additionally, I haven't had much luck finding a reasonably priced copy of the first Phoenix Wright game, but looking at PlayAsia, it seems like the Japanese version also has an english language option. Does anyone know how the english on that version is (because it is sorely tempting at the moment)?

screen protectors are a must most people go with hori theyre supposed to be the best. you might want something to carry the ds in and maybe one of those pen styli if the one that comes with the ds is hard for you to use. if you plan on buying alot of games you might want to get a 24 game carrying case theres a site that sells them that many cags buy from i cant recall the name. they sell protectors too hopefully someone will post the site link cause i want to get a better ds protector myself. on yeah get an r4 ds or similar type device.
heres the link where you can get the game carrying case and other ds goods.

If you can find it, I'd highly recommend getting Super Mario 64 DS. It's one of the very first games that launched and I still think it's the best one I've played on the DS (though keep in mind there's some great looking games that came out the past few months that I haven't been able to get yet). SM64 on the go is just awesome.
Though if you want something newer then check out New Super Mario Bros. or either of the two Castlevania games. I could've sworn we had a thread on this forum that listed the best DS games and I would pretty much agree with that list. I just don't know why things like this aren't stickied.
EDIT: As mentioned, I also recommend Mario Kart DS. I almost forgot about that game.

Elite Beat Agents disagrees with you.
Even the most careful person can manage to get a scratch or two on their screen. Besides, better to have protection than to not. The Hori screen protectors are amazing as people say, and easily come off with no residue (static cling). You can pick up a Hori combo pack that includes protectors for both screens and other parts of the DS for about $10 at Target.
My personal favorites as far as DS games are concerned are:
Elite Beat Agents
Mario Kart DS
Brain Age 1/2
Tetris DS
Phantom Hourglass

Case-wise, I'd say get the Noki one. It's a tad expensive ($19.99) but it holds 28 games and has amazing space for your DS Lite, charger(plug in and car), and 10 GBA games. You even can fit about 15 more DS Games or 5 GBA games in the front pocket if you wish.
Game-wise, I'd say that the Phoenix Wright games are great, Professor Layton is good also, and I'd also highly suggest Advance Wars:Days of Ruin. I could make a longer list if you like.

Animal Crossing Wild World. There's so much to do.
And just out of curiosity, what's the big deal over screen protectors?

i'd go with a screen protector if you're going to play games like EBA that are touch screen heavy.
i'm pretty sure EBA wrecked my first DSL's touch screen, because the second year I had it the bottom of the touch screen was very unresponsive, had to go a few pixels to the right to get any kind of accuracy.
best buy warranty ftw!
have fun with your ds, i love mine

For all you folks suggesting Phoenix Wright:
Do you need to play them in order? Does the story carry from one to the next? Or are they pretty much standalone?
These games intrigue me, but I'll hold off buying the 2nd or 3rd if I need to play through the 1st one prior to those two....

Yes its best to play them in order. There are little things that are carried over from each game.
Also, CC has the PW titles on sale if you are able to find them.
Lastly, go buy CONTRA 4. Its too much fun. Hard but FUN

Here's what I'd get http://www.bodyguardz.com/BodyGuardz_for_Nintendo_DS_Lite_p/nl-bdsl-1106.htm. You won't have to worry about the screens or body a single bit. I've had one on my DS for almost a year. My brother got on for his iPhone and he loves it.

Starter Kit is a good idea. It gives you a car adaptor, headphones and cases that fit two DS games each. Its a good investment. Buy the one that's got the official Nintendo Seal. DO NOT buy non licensed Stylus. Nintendo.com warns that they can scratch your screen and void the warranty.

Go with the Hori screen protector
Elite Beat Agents
Warioware Touched! (if you can find it)
Tetris DS (If you can find it)
Meteos
Cooking Mama
Advance Wars (haven't played the second one)
The New Super Mario Bros
I wish I had purchased a screen protector before I played EBA. Now I've got a few minor scuffs on the touch screen from doing those stupid spinners :bomb:

Actually,if you like fighting games, go for "Bleach: The Blade of Fate".
Don't let the anime license fool you into thinking it's a bad game. I don't like the anime, I don't play fighters that often, but this game is just so well made. It has a decent anime storyline, combined with a great combat system, a bit of collecting, and plenty of multiplayer features.
The touch screen doubles as a simple method for executing special attacks along with the usual button combinations, it's easy to just whip your thumb over to tap the attack you want. This balances out the playing field as it's no longer a game of who can memorize and twitch out the proper combinations, but who best uses the special moves, combined with normal attacks to their advantage. Heck, special attacks also have a limit in that they get much less effective if you don't have any power bars left.
You can even have 4 player fights, with two planes you can move between, but that costs a power bar.
