Damn, I should list some of things I want to sell on Amazon then.:lol:

Amazon has no listing fees so you're not out anything if your items don't sell. The bad part is amazon does hit you from behind pretty hard when your items do sell. All in all it works out to be about the same as eBay. eBay nickel and dimes you all from start to finish (listing fees, paypal fees, final value fees, etc...) while amazon get the anal raping over with in one fell swoop. Also on amazon you can't choose the shipping amount so you're fucked there as well.

Is Donkey Kong Country 3 rare for the GBA or are people on amazon just stupid? I found one on the cheap at Sears ($5) and I noticed people were listing them new for $50+ I figured "what the hell, there's no listing fees" so I put one up and a couple days later it sold!

It should definitely fetch over $20, but it is hard to say how much. There are not any ebay auctions in the past two weeks for complete copies, but one person has it listed for $49. My best guess is it sells for around $40 sealed.

I picked up a copy of Pikmin 2 from EB today for $30. It's in good shape and complete but it's the Player's Choice version. I have no interest in keeping this for $30 though. When I'm done with it, I plan on selling it off on Ebay where I could easily make up my original cost. Problem is, I've never seen a PC copy on Ebay... anybody know if the PC versions fetch the same amount as non-PC versions?

Yeah. It wasn't pressed in large numbers. I'm glad I got mine.. opened it though, I figured that the other versions were so widely mass produced that it couldn't ever be worth much.. the collector in me LOVES the fact that each game has different disc art compared to the individual releases.

I was recently able to pick up 2 sealed copies for around $35 each after coupon and discount. But now that new Persona 3 + dealy is coming out. Do you think the original will hold any value with the artbook and soundtrack?

I personally think Persona 3 with the artbook and soundtrack will be more expensive in the long run. If the game is sealed and has both those items I think it is more rare because people have a way of losing those kinds of things. All the old NES games that I have seen on Digitpress that had artbooks or maps always sell for much more with those items.

I think Persona 3 will be the same.

the artbooks will be worth something.. given that they are limited in number and very rarely seen on ebay, there is a good chance for them to sell for alot. but xenosaga 3 though, i mean unless they release a new xenosaga/xenogears game i think they're not really worth $50. even my tales of symphonia artbook isnt worth as much as it used to be, though the guide still worth around $30-$40.

the hardcore series collectors are usually the ones that will pay alot for them. the guy that sold it from canada was just lucky :)

Does anyone have an average price on The Guy Game (XB)? I know it's been banned and it's pretty rare, but I can't find anything searching completed listings on eBay. I picked it up complete as part of the B1G1 used sale at Blockbuster.

Here's one: Freespace 2 PC sealed. US version, full retail box, first print. Any ideas? I downloaded it a long time ago, but found one at a flea market one day for $5. Figured I would pick it up as it still has somewhat of a following, but never opened it up. Too bad space flight sims, especially on the PC, died a long time ago.
The big box original release and the Interplay 20th Anniversary re-release both command a premium of about $50 complete. You might be able to get $100 out of a sealed copy. It's considered one of the last great space sims.

That's very... odd. I saw copies at TRU and CC recently (yesterday @ CC, in fact) so it can't be that rare- it might be a fluke there are other new copies listed that aren't selling at all. The other two seem to be fairly low still.

Not sure what its value is, but that other disc was simply the Lunar 2: Eternal Blue complete demo. VB was a single disc game otherwise.

You should've picked it up. I believe it goes for around $30-50. Might be closer to 30 if it's missing a disk , even if it's just a demo , since it wouldn't be complete.

What's the deal with Shadowhearts: Covenant (for new copies)? Less than 3 months ago, I saw it everywhere (ebay, amazon, etc) for 25-30$ new. Now with shipping, it seems to be 50+ at most places. Argh.

Grandia 3 also seems to have gone up in price from the MSRP slightly, but it's a fairly medicore game by all accounts so I'm a bit surprised. I love the original grandia and II was pretty fun, as well. I was hoping it would bottom out and fall to around 20$ ala Rogue Galaxy, but it seems to have gone the other direction.

It seems like Grandia 3 is still pretty cheap when I have looked. Around $23-24 (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation-2/grandia-3). Shadow Hearts Covenant (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation-2/shadow-hearts-covenant) looks to be about the same too.

How about Advance Wars: Duel Strike on the DS?

Advance Wars Duel Strike is a very interesting one. For a while it was selling for $40+ all the time and even more if complete. But every month since December the price has gone down. It is now about $21 (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/nintendo-ds/advance-wars-ds) but has a very interesting price history.

On a side note. Here is a feature that you guys might find interesting (http://blog.videogamepricecharts.com/2008/03/video-game-pricing-hack-with-firefox.html). yeah, definitely. the sealed system would probably get you around $300 to $500. the sad part about the NES when it came out is that they never really had an official seal for the box. its like the Wii. but to determine their authenticity that it is brand new and sealed, the twisty ties should still be intact for the cables and such. at least thats what i noticed. the top loading NES should fetch you alot more than the original one, its extremely rare to see that on ebay brand new. check out this Snes Killer Instinct Bundle sealed for $2,300+ (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330221443161&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014)

who makes up the prices for unopened stuff. about 3 years ago i found a sealed ff for nes and i bought it for 15 and sold it for 40. i made cash and i could care less if it was opened or not. i am sure there are collectors of unopened stuff, but the snes is just a dumb person trying to say i got a unopened snes for 2500.

as for the mario bros game sealed, yes as well it should sell at around $200-$300. but if its mario brothers i would rather keep it for about 10 more years. to me, a sealed copy of that game is iconic or symbolic and should be worth a few thousand rather than a few hundreds :). but thats just me..

That's funny. It was basically a bidding war between 2 people. I saw the same new system sell for ~$120 a few months ago. I wonder if he is the one who bought it... That seller also has a Dreamcast that is currently at $720.

If you are patient and careful you can get a new NES and SNES for $100-$200.

The only difference is that very occasionally they will fix a bug or two in the PC games, I'm pretty sure they did that with Metroid Prime, but other than that there is no generally noticeable difference.

Short term. Once they announce and release Pikmin 3 (please, please Nintendo) the game will go up in value for sure. Whenever sequels are released everyone rushes to play the old ones. This will be no exception.

Also, is there anything different about PC GC games other than the yellow thing on the box art. The manual and disc look the same to me.

All PC and GH PS2 games are identical to their original releases -- only a diff label on the cover. Older PS1 GH games swapped color disc art for plain black and white logos, and sometimes added an ad to the back of the disc holder where previously there had been game art.

Some people really get hung up about PC/GH vs original, and some even get upset about GameQuest reprints -- in the end it is all the same.

How much does a sealed GH Symphony of the Night go for, there's two on Ebay now and one sold for $105 and the other sold for $30 so I'm not sure what to make of the huge gap. I picked one up for $21 recently and was wondering if it's a good deal.
it depends on the buyer. ive seen them sold for $60+. last year i saw a few that was buy it now around that price range. it really depends on the interest of the buyer since its greatest hits. but i would save it just in case.

people should consider GH titles. specially those games that have extra content on them. like Silent Hill 2 GH, it had extra content which was featured on the Xbox version. Devil May Cry 1 also had extra content. i believe thats what they (sony) intended for them to have. so that you'll buy it again. i know i did for silent hill 2. i have a sealed gh copy of that game.

I believe DMC1 didn't have extra content, that was DMC3 (but I won't swear to it). I do know that there were regional diffs in difficulty level from JP to NA for the original release of DMC1.

Bonus content in the GH titles has been up to the individual publishers (like Capcom and Konami), and has been more the exception rather than the rule. In the past gen, it often resulted from the diff release schedules between country as well as platforms, and the discovery that customers actually would rebuy a title if it had new content. So if a title got tweaked for a Region 3 release, the release sold well, and there seemed to be NA demand with a GH release, why not take advantage of it.

It puts out a lot of SKUs, like for Call of Duty 2 (standard, SE, GHSE), but more SKUs means broader distribution, higher quantities in the various sales channels.

This might increase in value too because the Bangai Nintendo DS game is coming out. New releases of older games can sometimes raise the value of the old ones.

I went back to that local game shop today to dump off all but my RPG guides(and those for games I have) and scored another $15 or so for 60 guides. Now, I can officially say that I'm DONE with grabbing tons of these things.

Oh and I did mention that I thought Theme Park was worth more than $2 to them, so they pulled it. I mentioned the same deal with General Chaos, which I've wanted again for a while, but I think I'm done with most of the older gen stuff. But when I left there, it was still in the case for $5.

Why did I alert them to it? Because I'm trying to win over the owner, who thinks I 'know alot about my games and guides and is afraid of how knowledgeable I am'. I have no patience to deal with flipping them myself and I figured I wanted to give them something back for them taking all of my guides for fine games like 50 Cent: Bulletproof and 25 To Life. I checked all of the guides months ago and none aside from the RPG ones were worth over .50-1.00 each.

Which sites do you use to get the average that comes up on your site, JJ? If it's a combination of those eternally present BIN/store auctions on Ebay, the gouged prices I routinely see on Amazon from individual sellers and the horribly gouged prices I see on Half.com, then it's no wonder those two games came up so high.

I can't count all of the auctions I've seen which included the word 'RARE' for games and guides in recent memory.

i sold a sealed rebirth special edition last year for $125 on ebay and $135? at half.com. they were selling at those prices before the 3rd GU came out then the price of it went down to about $70-$80. now its back up maybe because of the the 2nd game being out of print, which fetches a good amount used of $40-50, sealed around $60+.

speaking of out of print, Twilight Princess for the gamecube is now out of print :) the big N had stopped production of it. copies of it is still found everywhere but not a whole lot.

Well besides the fact that its simply a good game at a good price , it's only going for around $15. It wasn't one of the harder to get atlus games (kinda like Metal Saga) and can be found moderatly easily for not much. If your intersted in getting it based on quality then go for it , if your more interested in it for reselling purposes then pass.

Considering I got my unopened non-PC version of Pikmin 2 at K-Mart for $2.40, I think I'm totally going to let it ride on e-bay. GS's website says all 3 of the stores around me have Pikmin 1 in stock for $19.99. I might go buy the one in best condition and sell them as a set.

You got a decent deal. New the game seems to sell for about $15-20. It isn't really expensive though.

There is always a chance it will increase in value, but I wouldn't count on it. Right now Xenosaga 2 is worth $7-8 (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation-2/xenosaga-2) used. As you can see by the chart, the price has been fairly steady for the last year. I don't think it will increase too much if anything.

The two things it has going for it are it is an RPG (keep their value better) and Xenogears (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation/xenogears), which is expensive, is kind of related (though that is up to debate)

Xenosaga is a terrible RPG and the only way it woudl rise in value if it somehow dissapated of the face of the earth and somebody revived the series. Even then it would be like PSX recent value.

Gears on the other hand while being from the same series have it's own etc and is already valued.

So in terms of Stratigic games becoming a big hit. I am not talking about things like Advanced Wars. I am talking about the ones that have the boring Anime with it and they fight with mechs all day, and there is a some dialog or comment that is the entire show. In general anything that is boring-ER then Advance Wars.

IT will rise in value with time but don't think numbers like 60 and 50.

I just sold a complete PS2 Dark Alliance 2 for a best offer of $39. It was an extra copy I got for like $30 but I wonder why they declined so much...

And looks like I'm late to the Pikmin 2 party too. I just finished it a few days ago and put it up with a BIN of $65. No ones biting but there's still 2.5 days left. But the prices in general have dropped a lot seeing as how there's like a hundreds of copies available.

Damn, 1 bad sale and another potentially bad sale when I really need money.:-(

you just need to know your inventory, and keep a close eye on what you think will sell or not. good judgment pays off in the end. contantly check ebay (not amazon!) and see how many sold in a the past weeks and how many are currently on auction. it also helps to end your auctions in the weekends, thats when the most people are on ebay shopping for all kinds of shit.

Plus, with Amazon and Half, you never know when your item will sell. I would say check both. The one advantage to Ebay over Amazon is you can see how much things have sold for. It is a lot harder to determine the current going rate for something on Amazon . But Amazon prices tend to get a premium over Ebay.

I agree. You have to check both. Some times the prices are quite a bit different between the two sites.

They both have their pros/cons. Amazon will generally get you a higher price but will take longer to sell. But you pay a bigger fee. Ebay auctions will sell quickly but might not get you the price you want.

It is hard to say for sure. Okami PS2 has got a bit of bump (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation-2/okami) from the Wii version. But that is probably just temporary. If the Wii version becomes really popular there is a chance that the PS2 version will become more expensive because it didn't sell that many copies and it might become collectible. My guess is it won't really be worth too much. I would sell it now while the prices are pretty high.

i dont normally prefer to check amazon because the prices are based mostly on their fee, which is 15%. it takes awhile to sell though amazon and when they do, you dont really get to see when that last transaction took place not to mention the price they sold for. on ebay, you get a price on what people are normally would pay for them. though you only have 30 days to check the previous prices they went for, its still better than amazon.

Damn, I really wish I would've kept my copy. I had brand new copies of all the "last wave" Saturn titles. I picked them up during a TRU clearance at the end of the Saturn's life cycle. I remember getting Panzer Dragoon Saga, Magic Knight Rayearth, Burning Rangers, and House of the Dead. Sold them several years back when I thought I was getting out of gaming.

Curious where you guys get your quantity sold numbers from. One said 30,000 the other 8,000. Do you guys have any sources? I ask because I have looked for a good source for this info for a long time. The data seems to be very spotty at best.

It's hard to tell I hear different numbers about this. I'm pretty sure I remember reading in a magazine that they made about 10,000 copies shortly before or right when Panzer Dragoon Saga came out. I wouldn't surprised if they printed up more shortly afterwards as I asked about getting it at EBgames years ago and missed it right when it came out but they put my name down and got a copy in for me shortly afterwards.

It's too bad they couldn't have a record of how many copies of each console game were made it would give you a better idea of what your chances are of finding any certain game would be, especially in the wild.

All the major IP's have been released, but I can see Animal Crossing getting a nice bump from a new game but it sold too many copies to really jump in price. Kirby games could get a boost if a Kirby Wii game comes out. Many of them are already fairly expensive, but I am sure there would be some boost.

Vandal Hearts is around $20 (http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/game/playstation/vandal-hearts). So you paid $35 for games that sell for $60+ plus yours are in mint condition.

how much does suikoden go for these days? i didnt think i would win an ebay auction but i got a mint suikoden + vandal hearts for $20 + $15 shipping (yeah, shipping was way overpriced). Was that a good deal or has it gone down in value?
