Just throwing this out there , i have a copy of X-com : ufo defense PS1 longbox. Is this game a highly sought after game & if so how much could i possibly get for it?? On a side note found my storage box of PS1 games in the back of the closet last week , and this one was on top.
Sorry for sp. / grammar, I'm in a rush.
It's one of the more highly sought after titles.
I've seen them complete as low as $50, and as high as $100+ for MINT (no scratches AT ALL, no bends on manual, long box is in great shape) copies.
Sealed ones can go from $80 on up to $150+.

only $45? FFVII GH - $75+sh http://cgi.ebay.com/Final-Fantasy-7-FF7 ... tsupported (http://cgi.ebay.com/Final-Fantasy-7-FF7-FFVII-for-PS1-PS2-PS3-rare_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a4Q7c65Q3a16Q 7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a 200QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem1e56f07616 QQitemZ130307618326QQptZVideoQ5fGamesQ5fGamesQQsal enotsupported)
thats for the GH. there are other similar auctions too. if you can get more, then why not. your auction might sit for awhile but at least you know you'll be getting more.
Is getting a single disc much of a hassle? I have a GH version, but it's missing the third disc. It was given to me by a friend, but he didn't know it was incomplete. He hasn't been able to find the other disc, so I was thinking of just picking up the third to have a complete copy.

I'd figure as much, but I was kind of wondering what the going rate for it was. I probably wouldn't bother if it were near a third of what a complete copy goes for.

It's uncommon but not worth much.
Greatest Hits FF7 selling for $75 is a thing of the past. The game was just announced for PSN (by the ESRB; but remember what happened with MVC2?). I sold a copy for $51 yesterday and was extremely pleased.
The individual discs can be gotten for pretty cheap though.

Yeah, I'm glad I unloaded the extra FFVII I had.
This is off topic, but I don't want to make an entirely new topic for this-- I bought a game off of Amazon which was supposed to be factory sealed-- Spirit of Speed for Dreamcast-- and it seems like a reseal job. The only seam is one that runs through the back of the case, in the middle. Manual looks like it has a crease on the left by the staples, but that may not be proof of anything. Mostly every DC game I ever bought had Y-seals. I asked the guy and he said that since it has the seam on the back, then it makes it factory sealed. Any ideas?
Any of you guys ever sell a rare game and it goes up like a month later? I did that with Devil Summoner. Sold a mint copy for $20 ('cause I thought the game sucked) and then shortly after that it went up quite a bit. At least I only payed $10 for it.

Does the disc itself look mint? How does the case look? Usually when a game is resealed it is in excellent/very good condition but it still has marks that indicate it was a bit used. I bought a game on Amazon that was re-sealed (it almost looked new but the disc had buffing marks on it when I checked in the light and the manual had been flipped through... plus it had that cheap shrink wrap job that didn't look professional) and got annoyed because I wanted it to be perfectly mint. To my surprise when I contacted the seller they gave me a full refund and let me keep the game.

If I remember correctly, some Dreamcast games also had the legitimate cheap shrinkwrap that you sometimes see on modern DS, PS2, 360 (think Lost Odyssey or Blue Dragon), or Gamecube games today. In fact, the only games that I've never seen have the cheap shrinkwrap are PS3 games.

I had about a dozen titles with line-seal shrinkwrap. Some of these included MK Gold Hot Fix Version and Capcom Vs. SNK. The contents were all brand new.
On the other hand, from one eBay seller, I purchased three line-style titles and found out they were all illegitimate. Those were Marvel Vs. Capcom, Dead or Alive 2 and something else. I ended up getting my money back, but not without complications.

I haven't opened it up yet, so I will do that-- kind of wanted to keep it sealed since it's a crappy game and I have no interest on playing it. But it's fairly valueless anyway, so I'll crack it open. Good to know that some DC games didn't have Y-folds-- I was trying to remember all of my purchases since half of my collection was sealed at one point. The games I have left sealed are the Y-Fold style seals.
I'm glad I'm not in the predicatment of "Is this sealed or resealed" with some game of actual value. Worst case scenario, I overpaid a buck or two for a resealed game.

Some PS1 games had the heat shrinkwrap too.. Vanguard Bandits and Silhouette Mirage are two that I know of (might have been a Working Designs thing).

that's just how SoS was sealed, from the factory. here's a couple shots of my sealed SoS and Wetrix, both of which use that cheaper sealing method. Spirit of Speed has a tear/opening on the back because i peeled off one of those RF security tags.

As far as DS games go, can anyone speculate how those will fare in the future, value-wise? I know that counterfeiting ends up hurting the value of some DS games, so that's a negative.
Something that I've noticed about DS games, though, is that it's often incredibly hard to get the case and manual on the Used market because people tend to throw them away (storing their games together in pouches instead).
Then again, portable systems in general haven't really had a whole lot of rare gems, have they?

Not a lot of rare gems, but it can be really hard to find complete or new Gameboy and Gameboy Color games. They can sell for a premium since they can be so hard to find.

I think DS games are more complete because the cases are made of plastic this time around, while GBA and GB games still had paper and cardboard boxes that were tossed out.

It is somewhat "rare", but that doesn't really matter if you are just going to sell it. What matters is what it will go for in terms of dollars. If it's in good condition then you just earned yourself a $100 bill. There are a s--tload of "rare" games that aren't worth anything. There are a bunch of "common" games that are worth quite a bit.
Anyways. Good find. Why was it in your basement?

Got a new house 3-4 years ago, boxed up a ton of stuff and didn't label a lot of it properly when we moved (There were tons of boxes, I guess you could call me a packrat :bouncy:). I honestly thought I lost quite a bit of my old games/systems. Was digging through the basement the past few days and found all my old gaming stuff. Needless to say I was a happy man finding all that stuff.

I did the same thing with Devil Summoner, I sold it a month before DS2 for like $35 shipped, and of course when the game came out it jumped up quite a bit.
On a side note, that's pretty crazy that your sealed CVX sells for so much. I thought it was a common game so I wouldn't have figured a sealed copy would've made THAT much of a difference. Congrats!
I got a question. I found a weird gameboy advance today and decided to pick it up since it was cheap. It's orange on the top and light green on the bottom... I've never seen one like this before, and wikipedia or ebay seem to have any details. It's definitely not a custom paint job. Anyone know what color this is supposed to be, and does it have any worth?
*EDIT* Speaking of Res Evil, I have another rarity question. There's about a million iterations of the PS1 Resident Evil games, and I was just wondering which versions are the rarest? I ask because I have a black label copy of RE1 which I believe is the second release(the one after the longbox version, before the dualshock support, director's cut, greatest hits etc). I never thought it was worth much(I had an auction bundling it and RE2 together that started at $15 and never sold) but I just checked some completed listings and one guy sold his mint copy for $73.00!

i seem to recall that we sold that one at TRU. it's the Spice/Lime GBA SP. i don't remember it being a special edition or anything, though. just a fun color variant. maybe someone else knows more.
search "orange green game boy" on eBay under completed auctions, and you'll see a handful. they all closed under $40.

Sort of rare, I mean you usually have a better chance of finding a jewel case version of those games than a longbox from my experience. As far as rarity VALUE-wise, you'll have to throw out some names. Not all of them have any real worth... I have need for speed and wwf arcade and they sell for like $2 each on ebay.

Dragonball Z Legends Japanese Import for the PS1.
It's not super rare. Back in DBZ's peak popularity, it was imported all the time, especially since it was the only DBZ ps1 game that wasn't released here.
If you've got one that says PlayStation the Best for Family and looks like this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/soulxforxhire/DSCI0006.jpg, then you've got the more common one (like mine!)
If you've got the normal version that looks like this http://images.snesorama.us/DBZ_Legends_Front.jpg without the white border, than yours is the more rare version, as this one was out of print before DBZ became popular here. If you've got the Saturn version, I officially hate you.
The Best for Family version = $10-$15
Regular = $20-$30

Ever since the re-release, not really. The Atari re-release is exactly the same disc BanDai released in 1997. The Atari one is much easier to find, and it drove the original's price down. The original release nets about $25-35.
Edit: The reasoning behind the price, according to Wikipedia:
Due to Dragon Ball's obscure popularity at the time, Bandai America only produced 10,000 copies of the game, thus making it a rare gem for collectors of both video games and Dragon Ball-related merchandise, with online retailers Amazon and eBay featuring prices for the game from $100 to $250
I knew it was released in limited quantities, but I didn't know it was that little. It is Wikipedia, so take it as you will.
I really don't know why anyone would pay that much for the game. It sucks. Hard. It does have the distinction of being the first Dragon Ball game released in the U.S., and it predated anything Dragon Ball GT by almost a decade.
Shady3011
06-13-2009, 06:07 AM
Yeah. It was really terrible compared to Budokai and other modern DBZ games. The thing that drove its price sky high was the limited print and the DBZ fever that popped up towards the end of the '90s.

Yeah. It was really terrible compared to Budokai and other modern DBZ games. The thing that drove its price sky high was the limited print and the DBZ fever that popped up towards the end of the '90s.
This is true. I remember going to the local anime and game store and they were playing it. They let me play it, and I never wanted to touch it again. To this day, I still don't own it and probably never will.

Not so funny story, my friend ended up having to buy this game to replace the copy that was stolen from him that he borrowed from another friend. It was a bitch and a half to track it down. The worse part is that they found the lost copy later and couldn't return the one he bought for his money.
What sucked even worse is that the guy didn't steal it for the money. He actually liked the game.
Anyway, the game was actually really popular in my circle of friends at the time mainly because of the DBZ craze at the time. I always thought it was awful. Too clunky and a broken character roster.

I really sleep on these collector's editions.. I never would've figured Bioshock CE would fetch so much, and I had a couple great opportunities to snag one of them on the cheap. SO STUPID!
Anyone know if either of these bad boys might have any value to them? Both are factory sealed:
-Jeopardy! (SNES)
-Boggle Plus (Gameboy)
I know they're both pretty crappy games but I figured that they might have some bit of worth to them soley because they are sealed.
On another note, what is the deal with R.A.D: Robot Alchemic Drive? From what I understand, the game is quite rare(before I tried ebay I spent many years searching for it at gamestops only to be told it went out of print a long time ago), but it really doesn't fetch a whole lot on the market. That's fine by me, I got mine for nice and cheap, it just seems weird... you would think a game like this would be a hot commodity for collectors.

If you think the roster is broken in this game, Try Ultimate Battle 22. 27 (I think) characters, and they all play the same.
A guy at the flea market has a sealed copy of UB22 (US version) for 20 bucks. It's still got the huge Circuit City price sticker on it, marked $19.99. I cif'd 5 and he took the game out of my hands, calling it a "collector's item". Right. Check the ebay prices.

Well, this morning I got a complete Spider-Man for 32X that looks to be very clean and mint for 142 shipped. Obviously it's the most sought after 32X title aside from Darxide and some of the PAL releases, but is 142 for complete and mint a good price? I haven't been paying attention to complete sales. I think I've seen BINs for 200 on Ebay before that eventually disappear (sold?)

I just checked and there's a BIN for 149.99. I don't think it's Cashback eligible since you can also bid on it, but I can't remember the rule on that. I'm hoping Spiderman isn't a 150 dollar title. I could have honestly been better off saving money if that was the case.

SNES:
Pac-Man2: The New Adventures
Mega Man X
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Sea Quest: DSV (I think this is the correct title)
Young Merlin
Mega Man X3
Super Smash T.V. (Really fun game)
Super NES Super Scope 6
Mega Man X2
Super Mario World

PS1:
Tekken 1-3 (I'm just wondering if it has any value together.) ;)
Thanks to anyone who replies about this. :D

The NG Sigma CE was also a Gamestop exclusive, correct? From what I remember, the only thing separating it from the regular version was the outer box and the bonus DVD.

i wouldn't sweat it. the heart wants what it wants. you may have paid what many would consider to be a high price, but it's one less game you'll ever have to worry about purchasing in complete condition, anyway.
i have a bare cart SM:WoF (i won't say what i paid for it -- you can search the old yard sale threads if you wanna get mad) that was definitely a cool find, but considering that almost all of my remaining 32X collection is "complete in box", it sticks out like a sore thumb. why is it that every copy of Doom or Star Wars i run into is crispy and almost new, but the good stuff is always just a loose cart?

I've only come across about 4 or 5 32X games in the wild, and 2 of them were CIB Dooms. I think you actually have a harder time running into a cart-only copy than a complete one with that game. I don't know where he got them from, but this guy that runs a local small-time game shop around here has a whole stack of factory sealed Corpse Killer games for 32X/CD... nothing amazing for sure but it kinda makles me smile when I see them there.
Anyways I got 3 rarity/value questions I was looking for some advice on:
-Persona 4 DJ guide... think that'll be worth anything in the future? I hear the P3 one's got some worth, but I don't use mine so I dunno if I should sell it now or hold onto it.
-What would you value a complete-in-box Time Crisis 2 game w/ guncon at? I'm selling mine and I see alot of Guncon/TC combo variations but not my specific one. On a side note, does the GC1 work on PS2s?
-Most definitely not rare, but I'm moreso curious as to where it came from... I have a Ratchet and Clank Size Matters demo UMD with a little cardboard case. I tried googling it but I just get a lot of results for downloading the demo.

whats weird is that ebay has 2 skus for both 360 and Ps3. i have not opened my copy of blazblue for the 360 yet, so i cant tell you if the upc number in the box differs from the upc from the insert. it could be that they plan on re-releasing it soon as game-only. right now the 360 is still available on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002D34JGI?ie=UTF8&tag=phear3dsblog-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002D34JGI). the ps3 version is oos which seems to be the choice for collectors. i would buy one just in case.

the marvel super heroes (i am assuming this isnt the MSH VS SF) game is weird because sometimes it ends less. i mean thats with all games on ebay at the right time, youll get them cheaper. but i dont think the newer street fighter fans dont realize that the game uses the street fighter engine and is actually one of the backbones of the Capcom VS series. Heck even the main reason why MvC existed.
but as far as street fighter games or any other capcom fighting games on the ps1 is concerned, they dont really have much value. even when SF4 came out, some of them really didnt see any bumps at all.

I was wondering about the Blazblue LE on PS3. I hear they have the same number in production for PS3 and 360 but the PS3 one is sold out everywhere and going up in price. Should I grab myself a copy sooner then later? or will the price start going down?
They really don't provide production numbers for most games except every now and then, they'll say that production is limited to 5000 copies or something for a special edition.

Hi,
I've searched completed listings on ebay, but don't see any so I can't gauge if PAL Playstation Magical Drop 3 Special Edition(comes with Magical Drop Plus 1) is rare. Have it sealed here, so hesitating on tearing the wrapper...

The prices seem to be stabilizing just above retail. When me and the Wife go to Best Buy to buy a fridge and a tv I'm gonna slip the copy in. Hopefully she won't notice.
Edit: That's make it sound like I'm trying to steal it. I figure we're dropping so much on those to large items, what will another $50 hurt?

unless they're sealed, the gradius games dont have very much value. they do once a newer gradius games are announced or are coming out soon but even so thats probably a $10-$20 bump. Gradius III & IV is one of the launch titles in north america so finding that sealed is slim but should be worth at least $100.

question. a few months ago I bought a sealed copy of Digital Devil Saga 2 at Game Crazy. It was $35, and at the time was selling for around $100-120 on amazon.
Now, with the reprint, prices on it have dropped dramatically.
I still have DDS1 Deluxe that I got, so I know that one is more rare. But my question is, is there anyway to distinguish between an original print and re-release of DDS2? Or did I miss my window to sell this already?

Thinking about listing my "rarities of Resident Evil" lot..
RE2 N64 new/sealed
RE4 PS2 Premium Edition, RE4 Cube Tin Gamestop Exclusive
RE2 Gamecube, RE3 Gamecube, RE: CV Gamecube
RE: CV PS2, RE Outbreak, RE Outbreak #2
RE Chainsaw controller.. both the yellow Gamecube and red PS2 versions
Promo chainsaw guy burlap sack mask
RE4 Gamecube demo new/sealed (which is VERY rare.. open ones recently went for $2 or $3, but I've seen open ones hit as high as $20.. no clue on new/sealed ones. Amazon still sells new (http://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-Preview-Disc-Playable-GameCube/dp/B000LCVZSI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1248659208&sr=8-1) ones for $50).

scorch unfortunately you miss the boat on all things RE. right now things have calm down a little.
- code veronica x was selling for at least $70 before but now youll be lucky to get $50.
- re4 premium sealed is sought after and fetches a good amount ($174 at the highest) but used probably around $30-$40. used to sell for at least $50. its more desirable if it had the art cell that comes with it originally. the other PS2 RE have no value at all since its available from the RE Essential collection.
- the n64 RE2 is ok, it did get a $20 bump so around $40-$50 at the most.. understand though that the market is flooded with these every week. maybe not as much but when theres 2 or 3 floating around the value drops.
- the RE4 demo IS rare but not sought after. there was a lucky auction that ended at $50.. maybe someone wanted to pay that much for it. but other than that, its around $10-$20.
the chainsaw goes up and down. when RE5 came out it did sell for at least $50. shipping this thing is a bitch so that probably affected the value a bit.

Oh, that wasn't my entire RE collection. This is:

RE: DC (sadly not the longbox)
RE2
RE2 Dual Shock
RE3
I may have a copy of RE Survivor floating around here somewhere

RE
RE: Zero
RE2
RE3
RE: CV
RE4 (tin)
Dreamcast
RE2
RE3
RE:CV
PC
RE2
PS2
RE: Outbreak
RE: Outbreak 2
RE: CV x2 (one is the anniversary edition, one is not)
RE4 PE
N64
RE2
I think that's all, outside of a few figures and whatnot. I love me some RE, but there's really NO point in owning the same games across multiple platforms, especially when some versions are rare.

RE4 PE still has the cel. I'm okay with $50 for RE CV.. I paid $15 each for RE2, RE3 and RE:CV on Cube.

That Civilization is worth pretty much nothing. Sold a complete boxed one for about $5 shipped at most. You could probably sit on it for a bit more but it isn't worth much.
Champions of Krynn is up for $20 on Amazon though I HIGHLY doubt anyone would ever buy it at the price. Maybe $10 or so if complete would be my guess.
Probably about the same for your other one.
Problem is a lot of those things get released in Collections and there value takes a hit where the bundled collection becomes a lot more valuable.

Battle Fantasia, no.
Madden 09? One of the last XBox games released. Collectors only. Rare? A little. Worth anything? No.
SFAC.. worth a fair bit more than the PS2 version. Definitely the rarer of the two versions.
Guy Game.. no. It's readily available at many GameCrazy stores, despite being "pulled from shelves". If you have a sealed copy (I do!), it's likely worth something, but not much.

as far as the guy game is concerned, its hard to put a value on a game that gets pulled off of ebay every now and then. not to mention the sellers get a strike for listing it so its too risky to even sell it on ebay. sure you can factor the ended listings and put an average price like you would see at vgpc and rarityguide. its one of those odd titles that will have a value to those who knows about it.

How am I attacking you? How do you think people know if something is rare? They based it on the price. I would consider something not rare if I can pick it up for under $30 even if if it has a small print. There is no need you to have an attitude here or people are not going to help you.

Well, I just created a thread asking about Twilight Princess, and was scolded for not posting it in this thread. So I come post it in this thread, and get scolded again. There aren't very many of any of them on eBay, I just want to know whether the things are rare without someone giving me grief about it.
I do apologize for seeming touchy, but nobody has seemed to be able to answer me without telling me to research it myself. This is my form of researching it, by asking real people who actually know about things, like yourself.
Again, I'm sorry for the reaction, I'm just frustrated.
You have to ask yourself what is rare? In terms of availability? In terms of resale value?
We have no way of knowing number of copies printed because publishers rarely disclose those numbers, so we go by demand and price on ebay.
allyourblood

Okami, not rare, more like... uncommon with a following.
broadband adapter, about the same. uncommon, with only a select few that are interested in obtaining one.
phoenix529
07-31-2009, 07:16 PM
Well, I originally meant in terms of availability, but since you point it out, that doesn't really matter to me. It's resale value indeed.
Sometimes when you get on eBay, there's a wide range of prices, or just not many of that item for sale. Okami, for example. I saw one completed for $5 and one completed for $50. The Broadband Adapters, however, rarely show up.
But back to my Twilight Princess, the question wasn't whether it is rare or worth something now, but whether it will be years down the road.
I remember you from the other thread, though, and you were very helpful. Thanks!
Edit: ayb, you're always so helpful. Thanks.

If you keep it sealed, yes, it will be worth something. Probably a lot, at least twice what you paid for it. But that's only if you're willing to wait 5-10 years.
Like I said before sealed first party games like Mario and Smash Brothers are hard to find (as in more than double their original value). Eventually the game will worth more than what you pay for, but it could take 2 years or 5 years.

NFS MW Black Edition Mint for PS2 - $10? Maybe $15.

GTA San Andreas PC 1st "Hot Coffee" Version Sealed - That's only worth about $20 on eBay because you can't list it as that since that version was pulled. List it as that and your listing will be removed. Plus it's not that rare since it's a GTA game. They fly off the shelves at launch. (Didn't someone just say this?)
I personally would leave Pokemon and FFVI in their wraps and open the rest because the value won't go up a whole lot, but some might disagree.

I'm having a hell of a time finding it's value though... basically all my search queries hit on the GBA/Color versions. Anyone know if this has any value to it?

Is Pokemon Sapphire sealed rare? I got one for $9 from the Target clearance to play myself or trade but I keep being told to keep it shrink wrapped. :(

I'd have to agree, buddy. Keep it shrink-wrapped. Cart-only copies still fetch $20-25, official Nintendo games only go up, especially sealed. If you wanna play it, I'd say get yourself another copy.
Well seeing how they are no longer being made the price is only going to go up

That is, unless Nintendo reprints it or re-releases in some way, shape, or form, which is what they've been doing a hell of a lot lately.

They seem to be less common than the Game Boy Color ones, but they're not really valuable.

Being the entrepreneur that I am I picked up 3 or 4 boxed copies of Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection after reading that they were VERY limited edition and were going to be sold out. After forgetting about them and now rediscovering them I was wondering if I should sell these for a loss or hold onto them hoping they will become rare. Thanks

I suggest you go to ebay.com, click the advanced search button, type in "metal gear solid: the essential collection," check the completed listings box, and then proceed to click search.
Was that so hard?

Uh, I'm with darkslime on this...
and now, now...do you think he bought and then opened multiple copies??:roll:
I doubt they will go up a meaningful amount until ~
a. the holiday season..should fetch more than now
b. a few months before the next installment/version breaks...which might be some time from now...

Donut's B would be correct.
Wait until the next MGS game comes out, whichever one it will be. Then list one or two and see what you can get. If it's not what you want, wait longer for the other ones.

They aren't sealed individually. there's a seal around the outer box, but the DVD cases themselves aren't sealed.

Interesting. When I grabbed the Devil May Cry set brand new, they were sealed individually, essentially losing any value they may have as a full sealed set later.
But yeah, like everybody else said, sell em when/if MGS 5 is about to drop.

Yea they are all still sealed and yes, I did check the ebay listings. They are going for the same price as I bought them so if I sold them I may break even. Just wondering if they would go up or not. Ill see what MGS Lightning (or whatever the hell it's called) will bring.

Most companies don't reprint limited editions: hence, "limited". But most don't hold any kind of value.
I'd hold onto it, purely from a collector's view.

I know you guys just said LE versions of games tend to gain value, but are there any examples that haven't?
I ask because I have two copies of the GTAIV Special Edition for PS3 which have languished on my TL. I have $31.79 invested in each and I'd hate to be forced to lose money on either.
I also have a black label Metal Gear Solid for the PS1. The disc(s) don't LOOK resurfaced and it's minty. But I wonder if the value of it has dropped just like the value on FFVII did a bit.

Actually, I believe that most special editions don't really hold their value well compared to their original price. GTAIV and Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway special editions both seem to have faltered. None of the Halo 3 special editions are really worth anything.
Considering how popular and hype GTAIV was, I wouldn't bet on the special editions being worth much since they likely overproduced them.

Since it was a timed exclusive, there's always the chance that it will gain value but since it's the last title in the main series, it's hard to say. If the Metal Gear moniker is still used, than it will likely be worth a fair amount of money 5-10 years down the road.

Thanks. I kind of figured it'd be worthless, but it never hurts to ask. However, every offer I've received for either of them has been (insert generic game I have ZERO interest in HERE) or (insert el cheapo game that's under $10 used @ GS now HERE) or in the case of the local game shop the really insulting offer of $12 for something initially worth $90.
If I had made it to the Blockbuster I bought them from before the end of the 30 day return period, I would've gladly just returned them. I expected a bit more interest in them and offers like Ghostbuster or InFamous for a SE.

I wouldn't be worried about losing out on your $30 investment, I'd imagine it'll stay at a price for a while where you'll at least be able to make your money back, I just wouldn't count on it going up in price over the years a whole lot. Right now the game fetches about $50 shipped on ebay(that could change soon though due to what I'd imagine will be an influx of flippers selling their $25 gamecrazy copies, but the PS3 one was YMMV so you might not be affected so much).
The problem you might be having with finding a trade buddy is because, well, damn near everyone has played GTA IV by now. From my experience people that like to trade care about playing WAY more than owning, and really aren't too interested in these special edition sets when they probably don't intend to keep it.

if the game is still around it wont gain any value other than its MSRP. if youre thinking about investing, i would always wait until you can find them cheap somewhere else because youll be more comfortable holding onto them for longer than you would expect.
if you are thinking of unloading them soon then you shouldnt be investing on games at all then.

Leave them sealed and give the collection time to leave the market. It's still pretty regularly available. I'd unload them whenever the new MGS drops on PS3 and 360.

I actually have a potential trade in the works right now for one of the SE copies I have. They have Prototype, which is another one of the games I have on my minor want list. It's still $50-60 most everywhere, so a $30 game plus $10 or so shipping is still a deal to me.

Ha ha. I love girlfriend logic.
Edit: Oh! Ignored your question, sorry!
A quick glance on eBay's completed listings shows that all the copies say "rare" in the listing title, but they only sell in the $20-30 range. No Ico, but no Shadow of the Colossus, either.

PE2 gets a bit more than PE but not by much (looking at $10 to $15 more and doesn't seem to go over $30 on good days). I believe FFT isn't worth much either way (original vs. GH). Threads of Fate is rare and can fetch more if it has those cards. Looking at mid $40 just for a good, complete copy. Bubble Bobble seems to be going up so I recommend hanging on to it for now.
