*Update* I checked my e-mail just now to find a message from EA. Turns out I did get the registered win...8 hours after the game completed. EA uses an e-mail system to send the Live stats of every game to your address for you to look at after the game is completed.

Here's some answers to the posts I've read and thought about...

...Apparently, EA has no solution to this as it is becoming more common.
...They have a solution, it just seems to take an extra 1/3 day for Madden...I'm not sure about NCAA though

The EA games don't Record dropers ? That blows, all new LIVE games with stats should record dropers.
...Yes there is a DNF (did not finish) % by each Gamertag so you can check if they pull the plug or not

Hrm. I'm on the fence about this, but I think in MOST situations u should get a loss for dropping.
...Madden gives the quitter a DNF, which hurts your rating & your completed game %

I thought they recorded a loss for quitters in madden, I think it takes like 15min for it to get updated...how long did you wait before you checked
...I guess it takes anywhere from just a few seconds, which happened the other two games I played, to eight hours or more

The EA games don't Record dropers ? That blows, all new LIVE games with stats should record dropers.

They did for the PS2. I find it hard to believe it would be overlooked for Live.
Its essential to the integrity of the game.

...It wasen't overlooked at all, but it seems as if it's just an ongoing solution. The idea of finishing the game against the CPU works, but it's just not as competitive...but if you beat the CPU, you get the win no matter what.

I just got done playing my first Live game of Madden and as soon as I jumped up a 21 point lead the ass...Great Storm just unplugs his Xbox. The CPU gave me an option of quitting or to play against the computer, so I just chose to finish with the CPU. I go check my stats and nothing was recorded and my win wasen't listed. I left negative feedback for the player but is there anything else I can do to the ass? I was also wondering if there was any way to get a win out of a situation like that? Any other rants are apprecaited! If you'd like to play a LEGIT GAME OF XBOX MADDEN 2005 PLAY ME ON MY GAMERTAG: RYANW ...ADD ME TO YOUR LIST! I won't quit out on any game and would just like to get some kind of decent play on Live...tally up the posts.

The EXACT same thing happened to me yesterday in NCAA 2005. The guy I was playing was being an ass and calling me all sorts of bad names for each big play he made (I ignored it by the way), and then all of a sudden I took a 3 point lead. Apparently stunned, he offered a friendly quit, which I turned down. Normally I'm cool with friendly quits, but this guy was a prick. Anyhow, he unplugged his XBOX and the game was recorded as a 0-0 tie. Apparently, EA has no solution to this as it is becoming more common.

I think in ESPN you just get the win if the other player drops out for any reason, though I could be wrong, thats what happened to me before.

I was playing against my brother anyway so no big deal, though it was nice to see they've at least addressed the issue, whether its perfect or not.

You left negative feedback, that's probably good enough. It'll either a) keep the guy from doing it again or b) Make people hesitant to play him.

That friggin happened to me three times in a row last night, right after losing my first game. So in reality, I was 3-1, but my record shows 0-1. Man, that is a bunch of crap.

That sucks that they don't give you the win.

Maybe it could have advantages too, though. I've never been disconnected, but in case of a possible random or accidental disconnection or something (weather related, etc.), you won't be penalized & the other player won't be rewarded. Kind of a double-edged sword though.

for those of you who are playing a madden game online for the first time, expect this to happen alot. Its a very common thing, its very annoying, but oh well.

Hrm. I'm on the fence about this, but I think in MOST situations u should get a loss for dropping.

So NFL2k5 gives u a loss for dropping?

I can't believe that's a problem. Didn't they have a similar problem in another sports game last year. Not necessarily Madden but some other game.

The opponent who was losing wouldn't want to have a loss recorded. So he would pause the game. There was a system in place where if you were the first person to disconnect the game would be counted as a loss.

By pausing and leaving the game sitting there for hours, it would become a test of wills to see which player would unplug his system first and get a loss registered. I remember reading stories about some jerk pausing the game, and the winning player walkign away, coming back the next night, and the game still beign paused.

I read about this a a year or so ago. But the game studio learned from their mistakes and their next versions of their titles factored stuff like this and had a much better system. I would have thought that EA Sports, being in the industry would have heard of stuff like this and made sure their games didn't have these types of problems.

I believe in ESPN 2K5 you will get a win if the other player drops, but they aren't recorded a loss. Like Cracka said, get used to guys dropping out the instant they fall behind

I'd just like to point out that this isn't exclusive to sports titles either. A friend of mine and I realy enjoy playing team deathmatch on Unreal Championship. Now, while we aren't the best players, I'd like to think that we are pretty good. Anyway most of the time we play against somebody considerably higher than we are on the rankingand we are winning, they will either quit all together or swap teams to ours so that they are given a win. In an anonymous, semi-reprecussion free environment, people leave thier responsibilities behind them...

in espn nfl 2k5 you get a win if they drop. it'll say "waiting for opponent" gives them like 25 seconds. i like it, but still i was killing this one guy and he dropped but oh well win for me!

Also...be aware that sometimes you will get your win later when they sign back on. This used to be the case for NCAA Football...

I jsut played my first gaem of espn 2k5, I lost 28-14 It was fun. Quiters suck, but there is nothing you can do about them.

This is a problem going all the way back to Madden 2001 on the PC, the first online football I played. I can't believe they haven't addressed this issue yet. Have you checked back to see if you got the win?

First off Madden '03 and Nfl 2k3 has the infamous pause trick. In both who ever disconnected first was given the lost.

As for Madden '05, I suggest you find a way to complain to either M$ or EA. Eventually they'll make a required fix, it'll just take time.

I don't think you should have to play against the CPU to get the win. If someone disconnects they should get the loss and you should get the win. And then - you should have the chance to go right back into the lobby and play another Live person. Alternatively, you might as well have just played yourself to begin with.
