Okay, I've owned and enjoyed a DS Lite and PSP Slim for the majority of the time I've had my 360, but I am finally getting the other consoles... I've got to have a Wii by the time Smash Bros. comes out, and it's cheap so no big deal.
The bigger deal is that I ordered a PS3 today - a 60 GB model with full BC. It feels a little weird.
The 360 is my favorite console and there aren't any PS3-exclusive games calling my name just yet (besides Resistance and PSN titles). I know the exclusives will come though. I honestly could have held out a little longer, but HD DVD is in decline and I'm a big HD movie fan, so it's time to get a Blu-Ray player. Also ordered Kung Fu Hustle and Tekkon Kinkreet on Blu-Ray, and a Hori controller.
Any advice for a new owner is appreciated. BTW, I got a Japanese system 'cause I want to play my import PS1/PS2 games on it.

From what I understand you can't watch NTSC DVDs/Blu Rays on a Japanese console...

From your gaming habits, it sounds like you bought a Blu-Ray player. If you like the 360 so much, there are only a small handful of games to get on the PS3 with a few more exclusives coming later this year.

Only PS1 and PS2 games are region encoded still on PS3. So his Japanese system will not be able to play American games. But for PS3 and BluRay, he'll be able to play USA and Japan.
I just bought my 60gb PS3 in late January and I really like it. It does a fantastic job upscaling my DVDs on my HDTV. I've been without a DVD that can upscale since I got the HDTV and it's great that I can watch my collection along with BluRay on my HDTV. An added bonus was that they have DIVX support for video files. I download a lot of UK shows like Top Gear and Fifth Gear in avi format. With the PS3 I can just play the videos off a usb thumbdrive onto my HDTV. Beats watching video on my laptop anyday.

Play games like Uncharted and you should love it.

Can you explain that further please? I don't have any plans to run Linux, but you never know.
Yeah, I got a Japanese system because I want to play Japanese PS1/2 games on it. I can pick up a US PS2 for $99 whenever it price drops, you see. It sucks that I can't play region 1 DVDs on the system, but I actually do own 10 or so Region 2 DVDs, heh.
I plan to pick up Resistance whenever it goes Greatest Hits, and the same for Uncharted. Plus there should be some more appealing exclusives this year, including Resistance 2.
he just means that you have to reformat your drive when you set it up for linux so it's just easier if you do that once you get your system before you have anything on it or else you have to back stuff up

Yes you can I remember CheapyD was talking about this on one of his podcasts that he got Uncharted but he has a Japanese PS3 hence there is no blood in Uncharted.

What? Dang, I forgot about that. Remind me not to buy Uncharted. :(
Just checked and Resistance is censored too, but you can download a US save file (http://brugamer.blogspot.com/2007/08/ps3-censoring.html)to play it the right way. Good thing, because I want Resistance a lot more than Uncharted; I hate censorship. Now if they censor Resistance 2, I am going to scream. But at least I can buy the US game and play it on others' consoles or get a US console some day...
