View Full Version : Any workarounds to get Amazon.co.jp marketplace orders shipped to the states?

Edit: Adding in the fact that I'm trying to buy from a marketplace seller.
One's pretty much SOL when it comes to ordering off of Amazon.co.jp and wanting it shipped to the states, right? I know people who live in Hong Kong, but Amazon.co.jp won't even ship there.
I assume there's no reasonable workarounds other then doing something extreme and temp. moving to Japan or something?

It looks like it would depend on what you were ordering. I was one click away from placing an order for a DVD set yesterday (changed my mind) with shipping set to the US. I just browsed some video game items and there's a note in the shipping section stating that the item can not be shipped outside of Japan. I doubt there's a workaround for that.
What are you trying to order?

There are middleman sites: Sopping Mall Japan, etc. Can be pricey, so be careful.

Pay Cheapy to let you use his address and have him ship it to you.
Ask your friend in Hong Kong to buy it? I am pretty sure whatever you are trying to order can be find in HK as well.

When I was living in America, I made several orders with Amazon Japan, and had no problems. Have they changed their policies or something?

I bought some stuff from the UK amazon site a little while back and got it shipped to the states. I just signed in with my American account and then went to the other website and filled up the cart and checked out and it worked fine for me. Good luck OP.

I'm trying to buy from a marketplace seller and I now see the problem (I think):
Either the seller doesn't ship internationally or marketplace orders can't be shipped internationally
"*** We're sorry. The item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button. ***"

Unfortunately, most personal sellers in Japan will only ship within Japan. As nectarsis said, middleman services are your best bet. (I use Celga for Yahoo Japan Auctions.) Beware that the fees for such can get very expensive. (It was $160 to Express Mail my 16 pound order last week from Celga!)

Oh, you're trying to buy from a marketplace seller, that explains it. Yeah, you're SOL, almost all marketplace sellers don't ship internationally.
