When I got off work today I was going to my car to go home. I got to my car and tried to unlock it with the alarm thing, but it gave no response so I tried to unlock it with the key. That worked but I was shocked when I opened my door that my stereo was missing. I didn't know what to think since this is the first time my car was broken into. After a few minutes I finally realized I was jacked and someone walked off with my $500 pioneer stereo unit (prob cheaper now since its been a year). I parked in that area like a 1000 times and never did I have any problems until today. I know I am pretty much fucked, and can only hope for the worst to happen to the bastard who did this. I hope you die and rot in hell you bastard. Sorry I had to get this off my chest, so if you dont care dont say any negative shit. I have a big hole in my center console now where my stereo use to be. The funny thing is my stereo was broken because it wouldn't open up to eject the cd so I wasn't able to take the stereo out when i parked my car, and I was going to bring it to a shop to try and fix it next weekend. Looks like instead of fixing it I have to spend $$$ to buy a new one. Damn thats going to set me back some games and $$$. Anyone ever have their car/stereo jacked? How pissed did you feel afterwards?
I never have, but two guys I work with have gotten theirs.
My one friend had his $1000+ system stolen out of his truck/blazer or whatever like the 2nd day he moved into a new place in Minneapolis, MN.
The other guy just got his stolen about 2 weeks ago in the parking lot of a grocery store, they stole like 200 CDs also.

My mom/dad's expensive Sony (some fancy name) car stereo got stolen around 4pm in the parking lot of a Big Lots, we went back to the car and noticed the window has been cracked and broken... and the guys zoomed off in a truck, the funny thing is, the guy who stole it WORKED AT THAT STORE, he "quit" that day and they apparently still weren't able to find him.
This was about 2 years ago. :?
Little need to say, we always take the faceplate off of the stereo when we leave the car parked from now on.
I'm sorry, Tenzor, I really am.

thanks, sorry about your stereo too, I would've taken the face off, but my stereo was broken to where it wouldnt eject cds. It was one of those flip out head units. Damn car thieves they all need to suffer.

Just had my deck stolen about 2 weeks ago. It sucks hardcore. Also took my brand new 150$ radar detector... bastards.
Never would have guessed it, right in front of my house. I can see a cops house from mine too.

Had mine ripped about 4 years ago, it was a cheaper Pioneer (~$200). My shaq-fuing window was broken my stereo was stolen, and I didn't even notice it until I was sitting in my car seat.
It sucks, but it may be worth it to go through your insurance. That may be less expensive than paying for any damage and a new stereo. For me, the insurance did not go up either.
Sorry about it happening. Chances are very good the person will never be found. Cops just have too much other, unfortunately more important, stuff to worry about than people's stereos. So basically he's more than likely to get off scott-free.

Someone tried to steal my stereo system in my car once. They busted the locks out of the doors and then found no face plate so they didn't take anything. Luckily I removed my amp in the trunk and my subs. However They still did over $500 damage to the door and trunk.
How did they get in the car?

^your lucky they didn't bust up the stereo. Everyone I know who was in a similar situation had their stereo busted so that they could no longer use it.

I had mine stolen about 4 years ago. I had a kenwood player in the dash and a 10-disc changer in the trunk. It was stolen right out of my parking lot where I used to live. The dumb-ass thief didn't even take the changer though - all he had to do was pop the trunk and it would have been his. I was so pissed about it and when I tried to get my insrance to pay for it, they only wanted to pay me in cash about 1/2 of what it cost to replace based on their "book-value" - what a pain in the ass... I started paying the extra $40/month to park in the garage after that happened...

Nobody's ever tried to get into my car, and I've got a 1400$ system. Then again, the "BMW Security Alarm System" stickers on my windows probaly deters them, hopefully anyways.
My friend recently had his beamer at the airport and for a week while on vacation and somebody tried to break into it. The door handle is jacked and he needs a new one, but his security system went off and they must have given up.
Sorry your system got stolen. :(
BTW, Pioneer systems are the best! It's what I got.

Hopefully your insurance covers it. My old apt in CT was in a real shady neighbor hood. A few years ago I had clairions top of the line cd player. One night, I left my windows open. Nothing happened. I couldnt believe it. With my system now, I never bumb it when I am pulling into a parking spot, or anywhere where it will draw attention to me. I also have tints, so its tough to see in there.

Yea, somehow keeping the factory radio in my vehicles seems to keep them from getting stolen...

It happened to me a couple of months ago. I had just installed the system (my first cd/mp3 car stereo with detachable face), about a week earlier, but I wasn't in the habit of removing the faceplate yet  . Luckily 1) I only paid $35 for it, and 2) Since it had been so cheap, I had bought a spare at the same time.

Hope everything works out.
That happened to a guy I knew from college. After that I said I'll just stick with the factory stereo in my F-150 and Lincoln Continental (which I just gave to my father last week, and had a nice factory set up anyway). I don't have anything in my truck of value anymore. I only have backup CD's in my truck.

Speaking from experience, I was pissed the first time and surprised and slightly amused the second time.
Yes, that's right, twice. In two years. If you live in San Diego or La Jolla, chain a bulldog or pitbull to your car cuz that's the only way you're gonna protect your stuff.
I would suggest NOT using insurance if your cost is less than 1000 + deductible (ie: making a claim) as suggested by some people. There is a high chance that your premium will go up, even though it's not your fault. It's all about the number of claims you make. Sure you can make a police report, and there is a small chance that they'll find it, but I'm betting it's on ebay already. Speaking of which, if you don't mind, just a used deck. The 2004 vs. 2003 vs. 2002 vs. 2001's usually don't have much in differences, especially with the pioneers (I've owned 3). Plus it'll save you a heck of a lot of money. And install it yourself or get a friend to help, cuz they'll help you save another 80 or so bucks. Just remember you have to buy an adapter and a harness which you can get at Radioshack (adapter) and some audio store (harness).
Good luck man.
Those two have made me go stock. =P Well, that and the new car warranty would go ka-put if I decided to tear my car apart.... =)

Same here when I worked at CC they broke into my car via busting out the locks. I wish they would of just broke the window or something cause those things were hard to hunt down and fix. On top of that all my cds got stolen.

Your cars warranty is still intact if you put in a new stereo system. I fucked up my passenger air bag kill swtich installing mine, and the dealer fixed it. If you have a shitty insurance company, your rates may go up. I have a $100 deductable on theft. My rates only go up after my 3rd accident. I have 1 2 years ago, so in a year, its off my record.

Back when I drove an S-10, I had my stereo stolen twice and another time the truck was broken into and the crooks stole the Walkman I was using because I didn't have a stereo! Fortunately, I was able to collect from my insurer both times the stereo was stolen. The second time was the worst because the thief destroyed half my dashboard trying to get the stereo out. Damn amateurs - at least professionals to a quick and clean job.

they did something with the battery in my engine so it would make the alarm go offline and unlock my car. Once that happened they jsut easily sat in my driver seat and went to work and closed the door to prevent people from seeing.

Someone should get a few friends with shotguns and whatnot, stock a car full of expensive equipment and games, and leave it in a dark spot. Then, just sit around and wait for the next poor sap who tries to break into it. BLAMO! Your whole neighborhood will thank you.
