...or so it seems. There's a lot of unintelligible conversation in that thread, but it appears that the PSN DLC is a $12 bundle and 2 $1.50 cars, whereas the piecemeal 360 DLC comes out to $36 and some change for the same content.

I'm not into the series at all, but it's a very strange move to be sure.

I can't believe DLC is that much in the first place (I thought it was no more than $5), it seems like no good can come out of it and leaves the developers the option of leaving stuff out of the game they normally would have put in the game and figure they can charge more for it later.

Or leaving stuff on the disc, locked, until you pay for it (in the case of EA's Godfather on PS3/360 and both 360 DDR games). Yuck.

Yeah that is some serious bs. I think dlc should be used for popular games to hold people over until a sequel comes out. Most of the time its a ripoff like the guitar hero stuff. Still ~$35 is just insane but I'm not surprised its coming from fucking EA.

Dear Microsoft: Quit raping us in the butt with Spacebux. Thanks.

Also, this is what you get for buying Need for Speed games. Shame on anyone who did.

who's really buying it? It's basically just thrown up there for the slight chance someone would buy it.

I hate DLC content that is already on the f'n disk, it's so damn shady of companies to do it. Do they think they can trick us? Or do they just hope to trick enough people? Hope they enjoy pissing people off. I fear for all the good titles, EA bought... not developed... since they haven't had a unique thought for any of their games in 5 years. Money money money is what they are all about. They were made for the Wii.

I could care less if the 360 DLC was 8 times the price of the PS3 DLC, I won't be buying either anyway.

If MS want to shoot themselves in the foot by letting the PSN look like a better, cheaper option then thats their problem.

Edit - Wait a sec, $36 for 12 extra cars, jeez if you pay that then I have a bridge in London I'd like to sell you.

DLC is a good idea that has turned to the dark side. At least in certain instances.

Pretty much. Sometimes it's used for good (the upcoming Mass Effect stuff at 400 points seems reasonable, especially considering some lucky folks here are still rolling in 1/2 price XBL points thanks to CC) but in this case, they're just trolling for suckers.

Ah well, I enjoyed the demo of this NFS but like all of them, it'll be $20 on that Triple or the 360 soon enough.

DLC has been on the disc for a long time. All the Dreamcast DLC? On the Disc, all the DLC for Karaoke and Dance Dance revolution on OG XBOX? On the Disc. Something like the Hurricane pack for Ninja Gaiden is like the first time something came that added in new data. It's just more noticable now because we have hard drive space to worry about, so the space something takes up is more important.

Some of the DC stuff was downloaded rather than being on the disc.

All the moves for Firepro D that Spike added in the months following the release of the game were accessed via VMUs loaded with the files. It was a nightmare, in order for me to fully play FPD, I had to have 7 VMUs connected to my Dreamcast.

I don't think they have to trick you. You know it and I know it, but there isn't much you can do. If you want the extra, you will pay.

Now, if you could get a hacker that could figure out how to open it up for free, that would be different. I would personally have no issue circumventing paying to open up something on the disc.
