Ok, so it's either spyware or something of the sort. It slows my computer down, and then on pages where it shows like a thumbnail for video (i.e. Myspace) it changes the picture to say something like "Your information is at risk" or something like that. It just started today, I've ran AdAware, and it took a ton of stuff off, but it's still doing it.

Help! any suggestions?

Kick it into a magazine rack and throw glitter on it.

But seriously run anti spyware software on your PC

Then get a good anti-virus/spyware program (yes pay money for one) and stop cruising unsafe sites/programs for porn/warez

spybot
spyware blaster (to help prevent more)
avg antivirus

I assume he doesn't want to pay for anything which is why he ignored your previous post.

Run the antivirus program Sporadic linked you to.

After that, the three programs you want to run are (in this order) Antivir, Spyware S & D, and then Ad-Aware (update it and run it again). That should hit just about everything.

It's a free online virus/spyware scanner.

Also if he doesn't want to pay or use the online one, he can download the trial, unplug his computer from the internet and than scan to get rid of everything.

Seriously thanks, I've got about 30 min left on my online scan. I really have no idea how these got on here, other people have used my computer so maybe that's it, iunno. It's my computer at my office so I really need it in tip top shape, I'll let you know how it turns out.

But do any of you guys know what it might be that's making all the videos pop up like that? Like when I look at youtube all of the thumbnails are the same thing. I'm just wondering because I've never seen/heard of anything like it.

Linux ftw!

Also, you should reboot your face.(If you don't get that reference then you don't listen to the CAGcast enough.)

Could be a user interface problem.

free software that really works.

google:
Super AntiSpyware - yes cheesy name but works.
Dr. Web Cureit - virus scanner, light weight (finds stuff that free-avg doesn't)

I use both on a daily basis to clean customer pcs.

It could potentially be a LOT of different things. What OS are you running?

Ok well it's messed me up good. I come in this morning and things are crazy. I ran the spybot thing. And now I don't have sound on my computer, don't get an icon in my tray when I minimize things. I don't know what to flippin do.

Grrr.

I'm running XP.

Spywareinfo is a really good website. They should be able to help you fix your computer problems.

When in doubt, format it out. Just hope you have some backups.

Before you do that however, try Hijackthis, it's a very powerful program, but if you're careful with it, and post your log at their forum, you'll find a lot of people who will help you.
