What?
I was only going to play the campaign once with each deck till someone told me if you play the campaign again you get more cards for that deck. Sure as shit I went back to the first deck and got another card for the red deck. I never gave it a thought so I'm just wondering the number of cards to be unlocked for each deck now.
Wow, the red deck is really, really awful.
I don't think it is to bad. It is the only one that I have been able to win all the way to 15 in the campaign with. Might be because I'm used to playing it.

Yeah, you get 15-17 cards depending on the deck. It says how many you've unlocked when you go to edit the deck.

I finally started playing this yesterday and I am loving it. It's annoying when a CPU deck is really stacked against you and you can't do anything about it other than quit and give the starting hand another reshuffle or two, but the core gameplay never stops being fun. Co-op is rad too.

Have you went through the game again with the same deck? I know it says x/17 and I have got all the way to the last deck with my red deck so I still would have 2 more to get. After someone from work told me that you can get cards from the other decks more then once I tried it. I got another card from the first deck. So now I'm at I think 16/17 cards. So I should be only able to unlock one more. I'm not able to check and see at this time but when I get the chance I will and see if after I get that 17th card if I can get another.

I just couldn't beat green with it. I'd have 11 mountains on the field and no burn cards to make use of them. Frustrating.
Then again, I always hated goblin decks.

It all depends on the draws. I had some games where all I was drawing were mountains and it was over by the time I got anything else. Other games where I never drew a single mountain.

I was messing around with the white deck against the first green deck AI. I had 103 HP before I won. I was trying to see if I could get him to run out of cards.

I think that is how it is set up. At times I play somthing and they end up having the perfect counter. I'm also really starting to hate that last deck. I now have 17/17 in the red deck so I guess I'm going to start another deck to get all cards in it then try to beat that stupid deck. From what I keep reading it is the blue deck that it good against it but every time I play against the computer with it I still can't do anything.

Have had the game lock trying to load the co-op campaign 1 out of every 3 times.
Anyone know where I can find a suggestion box for the developers?
On another note, I don't like how logging in a guest account for a friend in co-op only allows them to use the locked green or red deck.

It's locked up for me during a match twice, and when loading a campaign match once.
Paddlefoot if you want your friend to be able to play with a unique deck, just create a new silver account for him. That should allow him to create his own save file and make progress in the single-player campaign to unlock new decks.

Me personally, I was playing this game several hours everyday, the minute everything was 100% unlocked, I turned the game off and haven't touched it since. Will probably go back for the 10 ranked game and two-headed giant achievement. It has become way too repetitive.

Is the game worth getting if you don't have Live?
I did enjoy the demo, for what that's worth, and I do have a history of putting more time into games like this than I should (especially the Pokemon GBC game).
The problem: I've got Gold right now, but only until the beginning of August. I'm going to have to cancel then because I don't have the money to pay for it right now. I'm interested in the game, but I'm not sure if getting it without multiplayer is the best idea. How long before I get through all of the challenges and get bored with the single player?
One alternative would be picking up something for the DS (maybe the Marvel card game) for cheap in the B2G1 sale. :-k

IMO, the single player is better than the multiplayer. You need to unlock cards and decks by playing single player. It's fun getting more powerful cards for each deck. The multiplayer game offers nothing other than achievement points (and bragging righs). You play one of 10 decks over and over again. They may have differences depending on the player. But because you can only add unlocks from a list of 15 predetermine deck specific cards (you can't take any originals out), the variations are almost unnoticeable in 95% of matches. It gets boring playing against the Black/Green elf deck 10 times in a row.
Every game goes like this (I play Mono Black, R/G/B, or R/G/W)
1. Identify deck I am playing against. (I'll assume Black/Green because it appears to be most often used deck)
2. Save Terrors, Incinerates, and Shocks for Elvish Champion
3. Trade creatures early
4. Gain control of game and win

Just to add to eastx, the tutorial and initial gameplay instruction is excellent.
The tutorial takes you through the basics of playing creatures and various spells.
Then the game itself will show a hint everytime a card introduces a new mechanic into the match. It also gives you the option of whether you want that hint to appear again.

Got the demo, and I could safely say that this might be my next purchase on the marketplace. Being an old veteran of the CCG, I like the simplicity and the non-money sink that is this game.
Sucks hearing the lack of robust deck customization, the blandness of Live games, and the hand-holding of the game tends to be nuts, but it's a fine port (better than MTG:O, imho, atleast I'm not sinking half a paycheck on imaginary cards).
Oh, what's up with the hard-rock music? Trying to make MT:G edgy or something? For fuck's sake, did anybody in the PR department remember what happened with that ad-campaign a few years back? I don't care how much testosterone you could pump into the game, CCG are still pretty dorky in mainstream culture.

My only problem with the online game is the fucktards who keep quitting mid-game, or before the game even starts. I've had a few four player matches become two player matches before the first cards are dealt.
That said, I still enjoyed the single player. I've been curious about MtG for a while, and this was a good, cheap way to learn how to play. I'm not sure if it'll ever become a full-blown addiction, but I like what I've played so far. :)

4 player matches are bugged. I don't know why it happens, but the game can't handle 4 player matches, and during the loading screens the game will freeze. Those people may not have quit. Even if people do quit, you still get the win.

Anyone know if you delete and re-download you keep everything you've unlocked?

damn it was fun. After each card hit 30 damage, the computer didn't even lay any cards down, he just kept drawing and discarding.
Also, some bugs I found were that if the computer has mana to play on a regenerating creature like the skeleton, they keep adding it to them. Even if they have 20 mana, they will add each one to the creature regardless if they use it to block or not.
Second bug worked in my wifes favor. She logged me out of the game and then she logged in and for some reason, it gave her my cards that I had unlocked and basically copied my save and overrode hers.

No, no it is not. Two factors to consider:
A. Going against the AI
B. Using the Elf Deck
Anyone can do that, and more if they were willing to waste the time.
Of course it was AI, a human would have rage quit the second each creature hit 20 damage, and the elf deck is just about the only good deck with a few exceptions.

Quitting before the match is over is fucking lame. I've left a few people negative feedback for that.
If you're playing a three or four player match and you lose before the game is over, does quitting screw things up for the other players in the game? I hope not, because when I'm the first down, I don't see much point in just watching for another fifteen minutes.

I really wish there was a way to punish people who drop out early. I had a four player match today where all three of my opponents quit before the end. Two of them were at least semi-justifiable, but the third fucker just quit as soon as I played my "nuclear option" (a Final Revels that would've killed all of our crappy creatures off but one, and left me with Hollowborn Barghest and two Underworld Dreams to sap his 20+ health away).
I marked him as an avoided player, but that doesn't seem to do much. :-(

The freezes and disconnects seem worse the more I play. Freezes aren't too much of an issue unless they occur mid-match, but disconnects are a huge pain in the ass. I had a few last night, including somebody who quit because his blue deck was afraid of a handful of 2/2 Elves I had attack at once. He completely ignored the fact that it would've taken two or three turns for me to kill him, and that I would've been defenseless the next turn.
If they do plan to add more DLC in the form of decks or anything else, they'd better fix the online issues if they hope to see any more of my money. I like the game, but it's frustrating when you can play for an hour and not actually finish a match.

The three new challenges with the DLC are cool. Not quite as difficult as the last couple from the main game, but still fun. The last one takes a bit of creativity to win, lol.
Also, the new achievements are bugged right now (new achievements only appear in the detailed game list; they don't pop up in the summary or on live.xbox.com and, oddly enough, don't yet add to your total score). If you care about that, you might wanna wait a couple days for this to get ironed out.

You unlocked them before they were uploaded to Live's servers or something.
I don't think those are the two you're missing, though, as they were original achievements and should be fine. You're only missing Puzzling Grandmaster and Overkill, according to your gamertag infor.
What you'll need to do is recover your gamertag. This will clear out the glitched achievements and the you'll have to re-earn them. I had to do this to reunlock Puzzling Grandmaster.

As in which block or set
You unlocked them before they were uploaded to Live's servers or something.
I don't think those are the two you're missing, though, as they were original achievements and should be fine. You're only missing Puzzling Grandmaster and Overkill, according to your gamertag infor.
What you'll need to do is recover your gamertag. This will clear out the glitched achievements and the you'll have to re-earn them. I had to do this to reunlock Puzzling Grandmaster.
Thanks, that did the trick!

Very true. Digital CCG's can be fine, I used to play a ton of the WoW TCG online (forget the name of the program used for it tho..) and it wasn't bad. Something about the interface/mechanics of this one just REALLY turned me off..

The new U/W deck, Mind of Void, is quite possibly the nastiest deck in the entire game. A base deck of four Memory Erosion (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_j_Wx2hf69DM/SW4I8O2WPxI/AAAAAAAAC2w/XDe6RzCBFxY/s400/memory_erosion.jpg)s, four Persuasion (http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/cards/15245.jpg)s, and two Traumatize (http://sales.starcitygames.com/cardscans/MAG_M10/Traumatize.jpg)s!?!? This deck will certainly bump up the percentage of people who quit out.
You can unlock more Traumatize cards, too. And I can confirm that people "concede" to that deck. A lot.
Thing is, it isn't that hard to beat if you play intelligently. It doesn't have many creatures - and almost no cheap creatures - so it's vulnerable to the quick start decks, anything that can overwhelm it with sheer numbers, or any decks with powerful creatures. It's also possible to take advantage of players who are too dumb to save mana for countering. It's still very vulnerable to that fucking Elf deck, too.
I was a little surprised at how bad the Black/Blue deck was when I first unlocked it. Without the extra cards, it can't put up much of a fight at all.

The killer for me was the lack of deck customization. You can't build your own decks, and you can't even edit existing decks except for adding the unlockable cards to the deck, which dilutes the mana curve.
My friend picked this up and wanted me to get it so we could play. We both used to play MTG but hadn't played in years. I was excited until I leanred that you can't make decks. That's a deal breaker for me.

My fiance and I have played this game together on a friend's Xbox. We'll sit side by side and play the co-op battles, or he'll play for a bit while I play my DS. A game like this does benefit from human interaction, so if you have a human you can bring into the room to play with you, I advise it.
If humans are unavailable, substitutions may be allowed.

That deck style is exactly what I've been trying to build with my own MTG cards, but because I don't put a lot of money into my collection, I don't really have the cards to make the deck effective. I have my Mind Funerals, Memory Erosion, and Tome Scours in an artifact deck, and the deck struggles too much trying to do two things at once. I just don't have the real cards to make a milling deck effective.
But you're totally right about what that deck is weak to. Last week, my fiance played at Friday Night Magic, and two of his opponents were trying milling decks against his dragon deck. Because of the red direct-damage cards and his big flyers, he was actually able to win against two opponents, even in one match where he only had 2 cards left in his library.
The killer for me was the lack of deck customization. You can't build your own decks, and you can't even edit existing decks except for adding the unlockable cards to the deck, which dilutes the mana curve.
It is strange that you can't edit the decks hardly at all. There's a big customization feature there that is just passed over. Perhaps there will be another MTG game, if this one does well enough, and they'll add more deck customization options. I don't see how it would be too hard to just include all the cards that are tournament-legal at the time of release.

Funny that playing the demo for this got me interested in trying the physical card game. Seemed a bit similar to Pokemon which is the only other card game I have played.

I don't think they'll ever have full deck customization in the Xbox Live M:TG game. Two reasons: first, they don't want it to be a cheap replacement for the actual game (see Magic Online, where you've got to buy individual boosters) and second, it's designed mainly to introduce people to Magic and they want a (relatively) controlled environment online, rather than newbies just getting destroyed by the one or two optimal decks that could be constructed from the available card mix. As-is, I find there's already a very distinct advantage over people who don't seem to realize that they can remove the crappier unlockable cards to keep their decks a bit slimmer.

I entirely understand what you're saying. I don't even consider the MTG online game, as the idea of playing soley with virtual products I'm paying real-world money for is a bit hard for me to grasp. (Although I suppose the argument could be made that that's what all video games are...)
I'm glad you told me about the ability to trim decks. I know when you unlock cards, your deck gets fatter, and from my experience playing MTG, the tighter your deck, the better.
My fiance and I got a 360 as an early wedding present, so we downloaded the Magic game and are playing it over again on our own console, unlocking decks and cards and so on. I'm thinking of jumping online with my hardly unlocked decks anyway, for the fun of it.

Even if they don't have full blown deck creation at the very least they should allow you to remove cards from the prebuilt decks. Half the unlocked cards are great for most of the decks, but in reality you'd replace 10 or so cards from the original deck. Since you can't add mana it really lessens their effectiveness.
I don't think that's too much to ask for.

Got thins in my E-mail:
"Are you ready to take your Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers experience to a higher level? You'll be able to do just that in 2010 as Wizards of the Coast will launch two more expansion packs plus extend the game to PC and PlayStation 3.
Duels of the Planeswalkers continues to be one of the most downloaded games on Xbox LIVE Arcade. On the heels of the first expansion released in October, the 2010 expansions are scheduled for spring and summer of next year. Similar to the first expansion, the two releases will feature new cards, planeswalkers, and challenges, and will be offered in English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German.
Also planned for the summer of 2010 is the release of the PC version of Duels of the Planeswalkers. The PC version will offer the same style of gameplay as the XBLA title, along with an extra bonus we can't tell you about quite yet.
The 2010 plan continues into the fall with the release of Duels of the Planeswalkers on PlayStation 3. The PS3 version will be available in Japanese in 2011."
So it's going to be spring thaw before we get a new expansion and I wonder what the PC bonus will be?

You can select "Nicol Bolas" Deck
A new campaign for single player (8 new episodes)
"Rhys the Redeemed" (Green-White apparently) and Chandra Nalaar ("New MONO-Red) decks added
3 new cards for all older decks
5 new Challenges
3 new Achievements
3 new Faces
Avatar awards
New abilities such as Kicker, Landfall, and updated M10 rules for Deathtouch and Lifelink.
I'm pretty sure that I've seen host migration mentioned, as well as new achievements for 50 gamerpoints - all for 400 MS points.

Everyone is just going to have to get over that or just show their displeasure of that by not buying it as the XBLA version isn't designed to be a hardcore simulation of Magic. It's designed to get people that have never played Magic for whatever reason to try it out for a good price then proceed to the physical FNM or Magic Online worlds if they want to be "serious" about it.

I love the new DLC. I love the few gameplay tweaks they added, the new loading screens, the new arrangement for parts of the menu, and, most importantly, the decks/cards.
My only problem with it is that the previous decks seem to pale in comparison to these, though I have not unlocked the new 3 cards yet for all of them. Rhys the Redeemed's Landfall deck is the most cohesive deck in the game, and Sorin Markov's Vampire deck gets nasty very quickly.

I like some of the added features, but I've noticed loading times for deck editing has almost doubled if not tripled at times. Landfall isn't that bad, I just needed to see what's in the deck and how to counter it. I just forest walked my elves to victory.

That is annoying. I understand to an extent why they don't let you use a full deck editor, but I wish I could at least remove some poop cards from the deck to thin it out.
Sadly I'd be just as happy if there was some sort of land management.

finally unlocking both MtG avatar rewards and I was pretty disappointed.
the t-shirt is a logo shirt...whatever it's...yeah, a t shirt.
the magic card deck they were boating about? Epic fail...of all the things you could have given your avatar why is this accessory so crappy. Even just holding a simple deck of magic cards and contemplating what to play but never playing anything would have been golden, but instead you get:
5 mana cards, that you fan out and throw up into the air, then throw them to the ground...looking over them you wonder wtf am I doing throwing my magic cards on the floor...then...a really crappy shivan dragon pops out of one of the cards and flies away ending your animation. I tap Meh and activate Meh
meh.

It's such a waste that one of the new cards for the Elves deck is the fourth copy of one of the crapiest creatures in that deck. Decent effect, but not good enough to warrant a 4th copy.
I've played a lot of ranked games in the last two days, and the new Red only deck (Heat of Battle) is VERY popular online right now. Elves are still one of the best decks, with Red Green pretty close to it.

I personally run into the Eons of Evil deck 9 times out of 10. Fine with me, I prefer the Wings of Light deck - especially with the addition of Baneslayer Angel.

I'm trying to finish of the next 3 decks, Fire deck is down and half way through the land one. I love how each of them play. Let's see if I can finally get the 100% before I get bored with it again haha. Missed it twice now, while sitting at like 90%!

You get pre made decks and you can unlock cards for those decks. No editing of the decks. DLC add more decks and extra cards for previous decks to unlock. I played magic back in the day and I like this for what it is. For one thing winning and loosing seems to be based more on skills than broken combos and there is little meta game. If you like CCGs, DL the demo and give it a try, but just go in knowing what you buying. I'm pathetic at it, but still like it. :)

I can't believe you can't unlock the vampire deck, what a rip!For Expansion Pack 1 it was the same deal with Nicol Bolas' deck. Expansion Pack 3 (slated for late summer/early fall) will likely allow you to unlock some version of that Vampire deck - along with the usual 2 other new decks and 3 cards for every previous deck. They'll probably tone the Vampire deck down a bit, seeing as how it's far superior to anything currently available to players.

Okay, I'm ticked off.
My husband and I have been playing the co-op campaign on my game, to move my percentage along towards 100% to get that achievement. We've played battle number 14 several times now. We won the first game, unlocked cards, but it didn't mark the battle as won. The second time, we got an error that said the hard drive had come disconnected. It booted us back to the Xbox menu, and we went back into the game and started the battle over. The third time, we again one, and again, the battle is not marked as a win. It's still saying we've unlocked cards.
What on earth can I do? I've never had this kind of problem with an Xbox game before.
Also, another weird thing: last night when we were again playing the co-op campaign, it suddenly unlocked both avatar awards, although at that point I only had 1 full deck unlocked. My husband's profile had already earned the awards. My guess is it got confused, saw his profile, and unlocked the awards for me.
My game is messed up...

FYI if you have friends that don't have a 360 but are interested in this game, it's going on Steam next week. Preload is on Tuesday, and I guess it launches either Tuesday or Wednesday. $10 and it comes with what was the first DLC pack on 360 included in the base game.

Good to know. I'll most likely wait for a sale on this since I own it on 360, but will pick it up on PC as well.

Something cool I noticed @ my FNM location tonight. Wizards has now put out 60 card real-life decks matching what's in the game. They're only legal in extended tournaments. Price seems to be the same as a regular starter pack, but has a full 60 cards instead of 40 cards plus pack.
The 5 decks my store had were red, black, blue, green, and Elves.

Yeah, they were just released. If I ever get back into the physical card game (haven't played in 13-14 years), then I may grab the black deck to start things off. My 3 favorite decks in the XBLA game are the Black Deck, Eons of Evil, and Heat of Battle.

The starter decks I mentioned are just 5 of the original 8, Eons of Evil and Heat of Battle aren't in there. Also beware that the decks would not be legal in standard type 2, they would only be legal in extended (type 1 or 1.5) tournaments.
Also forgot to mention besides the 60-card deck you also get a Magic 2010 booster pack.

I'm afraid if you're using this as a basis to assume that there's a 3rd DLC due this fall, you might be disappointed to find out that article was written in 2009 and seems to be in reference to the 1st DLC, not one planned for this year.

I think it's pretty lame that PC gets first crack at it and console owners have to wait, but as long as there are no technical problems like there were for Expansion 2, I don't mind waiting for an extra week or so.
Was expansion #3 supposed to come out today on XBLM?

So how many achievement points is this thing going to have? Already the most for an XBLA game at 300 and I'm assuming it will be 350 after this update.

Sounds good and all but if they continue to give us more cards for our decks then they'll break the game.
At some point they'll have to let us edit the decks if they continue. I already am pretty choosey in what cards I put in the decks. The actual game can't break because you can change out your deck. This game only lets you add to the original 60-card pool.
That being said, awesome they've supported the game as much as they have.

While I would love the ability to fully edit my decks with the library currently released, I would be satisfied if they cut the necessary base of each deck to 40 cards and let me pickt he remaining 20 so I could stick to the classic 60 card deck and still be competetive. The game makers would have to go through each deck and redefine the core 40 cards, and then set a minimum card limit of 60 to it, but I could see that as a good comprimise to the current style form maintaining a more fair environment and what we all want.

So I picked this up the other day and I love it. I was up until 5:00am one night trying to finish up the challenges. I have played through the campaign once and I guess now I have to do it again to unlock more cards.
I never played the actual card game and I'm unsure about playing online matches. If anyone is still enjoying this game and wouldn't mind playing some online matches to let me wet my feet and perhaps give me some advice I would love it.

You can gain more cards by practicing, setting up a match against an AI's specific deck. You could also redo the campaign but it's easier to do it this way.

they'll never allow you to edit the deck fully, because they have an online full version of MtG which allows deck editing but you also buy digital cards etc. sad but true. I'll still get the DLC because i love Magic, but if you want full deck editing play their PC online version or there's always Yu-Gi-Oh!

I'm not saying anything about FULL deck editing. My opinion is based on real life stats where I once played this game back in high school. All my budies were into it and I liked fantasy stuff too. I also liked to stuff my decks with the minimum amount of land thus breaking the game because you were always in abundance of non land cards. Yeah I like the support too and no I'm not interested in the Magic Online game hehe.

It depends on how the tournament is set up for me to be interested. For instance, would DLC be allowed? If so, only some of it or all of it? 1v1? Best out of 3, 5, 7?
Some specifics would be nice.
WTPolaris
11-18-2010, 07:30 PM
I would be interested. As far as dlc goes, I think if the majority have it it should be playable, if not, then no. The one problem might be is that even if we decide to do no dlc those of us with it may already have unlocked the extra cards that came with the dlc for the older decks.
I also think best of 3 for each round(maybe best of 5 for the final?) sounds good. 1 game might not be fair, I know I still have games sometimes where I end up land starved and get rolled.

Looks like we have 8 that have expressed interest now which sounds like a good number for an initial tournament. I guess since not everyone has the DLCs the eligible decks would be up through Scales of Fury? I can't remember off the top of my head where the initial game ended up but that sounds right. Would make 11 decks available.

I think it's best since the holidays are fast approaching that we do the latter since finding a time 8(or more?) people want to play can be downright impossible. Best to set up a bracket I think, at least for this first run. If it's a success, we can look into a live tourney but I just don't see that working out with larger than about 4-6 folks.

Alright, I've got the brackets ready, but first some ground rules
1 - This is a best of 3 games, at least, if you agree with your opponent to do best of 5 or 7 or whatever, that's fine as long as you both agree.
2 - You can use all available DLC. I have matched people for the first round with similar DLC. Again, you can agree with your opponent to not use the DLC for a more fair matchup
3 - Let's say we have a week to play the first round? I know this is a busy time of year. If we have a major problem with this we'll change it.
4 - If you cannot play your match in a week let me know and I will sub you out. We have an odd number of entries, so right now I'm not playing, but would love to if some one drops out.
5 - post the reseults in this forum or message me

adriley313 and I played our match today, and I won 2-1 overall.
Warm-up Game (we had issues with hearing people in the party and stuff to sort out while playing) - White vs. Elves
He was able to get a few quick Elves out, but I was able to get offense in the air along with two first strike knights on the ground and two 0/4 walls. I whittled him down with 1-2 damage per turn while being able to hold him back.
Game 1 - Dragons vs. Dragons
I went with a mediocre hand, as I didn't expect him to choose Dragons also, and paid the price for it. He chipped me down with a team of 1/1 goblins and what not to quickly take the first game.
Game 2 - Elves vs. Dragons
I kept a hand with plenty of land and two Immaculate Magistrate (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Handlers/Image.ashx?multiverseid=139721&type=card) and was able to pump the hell out of 3-4 other Elves and bullrush him to take Game 2. Luckily, no destroy creature spells showed up for him.
Game 3 - Black vs. Elves
I almost went with the Red/Green/White deck, but decided to stick with the more consistent Black deck and it paid off. He wasn't able to get many Elves out and I was able to get 4-6 damage per turn going in the air, along with Underworld Dreams which did 1 damage each time he drew. I took Game 3.
I enjoyed it, and it was cool to talk about Magic and CAG and w/e else for a little bit while we played.

Was prompted to get a patch for this, and then was prompted to re-download the whole game again because there is a new version of the game available. Checked on their forums and they say it's to prep it for the incoming expansion 3. Hopefully it's soon cause it's been on PS3/PC forever it seems. Anyway, a few of the graphics have changed, foil cards have been added, although locked and seemingly no way to unlock them as of now(although the AI plays with them), and the game finally lets me finish it to 100% completion(there was a coop campaign bug that would never let me pass a certain battle no matter how many times I beat it, even after deleting and redownloading the game and expansions like some suggested). I had hoped more bugs were ironed out, but I've still had multiple game lock-ups in 3 player games with friends. Close, but not quite there yet. Here's hoping they drop exp3 pretty damn soon now.

Too bad you weren't around for the actual game if you're enjoying the PSP version so much. It only had the first 4 Marvel sets. It was missing the DC sets, and the game really took off in terms of mechanics after the 5th Marvel set (X-Men released in Feb. 2006.) With the legal problems over Yugioh between Konami (who own Yugioh and did the VS TCG videogame) and Upper Deck, another VS TCG in video game form is a pipe dream.
(FYI avatar image is from the 5 cost Power Girl out of the DC Legion of Superheroes set drawn exclusively for the TCG by Michael Golden. If you're my friend on XBL, you will see the 6 cost Emma Frost artwork from the card of her Alex Garner drew for the Web of Spiderman set, which was in the PSP/DS/PC game.)
Back on 360 Magic, expansion 3 launched today for the normal 400 points and there is a free compatibility version also.

I've read reports that the achievements for expansion 3 aren't listed on xbox.com, therefore if you earn any, you don't get credit for them in your gamerscore. You will have to recover your gamertag to re-earn any you get between now and when they become "active". Does anything in this game work right? I love it, but damn already.

Yeah, I never even knew about the Vs. TCGs until recently but I'm glad I discovered it on PSP. It's really too bad about the legal problems but maybe a different company other than Konami can do it? I know it's a pipe dream but who knows. Also, 6 cost Emma Frost is awesome! Saved my ass so many times! I think the best part about the Marvel TCG is the obscure Marvel characters you might never get to see otherwise (unless you read ALL the comics religiously) like X-Statix, Squadron Supreme, and Thunderbolts.
I would love to play it against someone but sadly no one I know even has a PSP let alone the game and I don't have a PS3 with wireless so no ad-hoc party for me either.:(

Sorry for the double post but something weird is going on with the multi-quoting reply here. Anyway, I've never played Yu-Gi-Oh so not sure if I will like it. I am planning to get the first Tag Force for PSP after I finish the campaign in Marvel TCG, but at this point, I'm not sure if anything will be able to top Marvel (yes, it is that good especially if you like Marvel comics and who doesn't, right?).
