Now that's freaking crazy. Then of course it is very unlikely that anyone will put out a program that supports all 8 cores.

8 Cores, fuck yeah.

Its not that hard to scale up from 2 to 8 cores. Like in a Beowulf cluster all the program has to do is query how many cores the system has access to and distribute work accordingly.

On another note the skulltrail system truly is a waste of money for anyone not doing some serious 3d rendering.

Well see it works perfectly for me then. However I would have to wait til Maya supported 8 cores before I could buy this board and chips.

If Intel keeps giving their new motherboards sinister names like Bonetrail and Skulltrail (this), then I'll start looking at their mobos more seriously.

Waiting for the Intel Skullfucker mobo.

But at the moment, you certainly don't need this for a gaming rig (kind of a given): http://hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQ1OCw2LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

...reminds me of how they used to say "640k of memory?! We'll never need more than that."...

Maybe I should have said, It is unlikely we will see any programs/games this year that will support all 8 cores.

Anyways according to the tomshardware article:

Falcon Northwest was among the first to be offering a Skulltrail system to its customers with a starting price of $10,034.57. The package includes a 1000 watt power supply, 4 GB of memory, two GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics cards, two 1 TB hard drives as well as a DVD burner and Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit). A fully configured Skulltrail system tops out at just under $17,000.

i like this system. all that beef but with "only" 4 GB of RAM, instead of the 8 that it supports.

way to much would be a waste no programs can utilize it to make it worth the money
