BB, Gamestop, and EB are all out of new PS2s? Also, mixed feedback as to whether or not the on-line kit is still available.

I overheard a Gamestop clerk telling someone a few weeks back that Sony had distribution issues. She ended up selling the guy a refurbished model. Maybe it's a grand scheme to unload the refurbs, I dunno.

indeed, i work at gamestop and this is what we were told, basically sony slowed production nearly to a halt several months ago, but they also lowered the price to 150, so demand went up and there just werent enough around. so now they are upping production again to get more units out there, it might be a few weeks, we havent had any ps2 systems in our store for over a week now and none coming in anytime soon. you might just have to wait it out or call EVERY store in the area.l

Wait a minute, there are still people in this world without a PS2?

Why would you even bother this late in the game, just wait for PS3 or whichever next next gen (what are we calling them, anyway?) console you prefer.

I'm replacing a broken one and I have about $300 in store credit at Gamestop so I'm just gonna piss it away on another system.

Aren't we a jackass?

And this happens because Sony hates its customers.

try like toysrus, CC, and just any store that is known too sell games, the system should be the same 150 everywhere

Every hardware maker does this at one point or another, They need to clear out all the unsold merchandise at some point so there arent a half million units laying around keeping stores from ordering more at a point where they need to have high sales numbers to take back to stock holders.

Basic supply and demand, you cant keep producing even when demand is down.

You would think Sony would have learned it's lesson the first time this happened.

I was in Best Buy the other day, and they have a little table near the game demos that tells what consoles are/aren't in stock, and it sais PS2 was in stock.

=/

I dont have one but will get one for GTA: San Andreas this October, and can slowly enjoy the other games until the PS3 release, which wont be for another year at least.

I think GTA: SA will be another huge system-seller, like the previous GTA games.

I don't think I've ever walked into a store and not seen one. Though I noticed BB and CC stock has dwindled, I just attributed it to the price drop.

Why does sony do shit like this?

Nintendo did this last year so it is not just a SONY thing

When I went to get a replacement PS2 at BB, they told me about this. The manager had to get some from other BBs, so they could have some.

I work at WalMart and we were out for about a week and a half but we got a few cases in last night. We were told to tell the customers not to expect them till after the middle of the month.
