As for me, this is a must.
I like the LIVE dynamic co-op where a player can get into the game wherever and whenever he/she wants...

The Arcade game sounds nice too, but I wont be getting it seeing that itll cost some MS points to get it.

Anyway, a great feature that I think should be inplemented in the game is being able to marry your co-op partner. I think many people will like that...I know I will.

I finished the first one, but was one of those people that were extremely disappointed at the final product. What was supposed to be an Oblivion turned out to be like Maple story in 3-D, but I still like Peter and I've really like what he's been doing to the game. The redesigning of the combat was what hooked me, plus the game looks fantastic.

I think Peter Molyneux is one of the best game developers around and he's doing a lot to keep pushing gaming forward, so I'll probably bite on Fable 2. Just depends on the timing since it looks like a significant time investment for the player. Gears 2 could draw me away.

Im really pysched about this game, i regret never beating one. I got maybe 5 -10 hours in, then sort of stopped playing, and I never got back to it before my xbox and games got burgled. Oh well, ces la vie.

I'll make sure to finish Fable 2. I really liked how you could be good or bad and really loved the world you lived in. Everybody was always talking to you and stuff. I think I got married in the old one and just bought a house.

Watch it again, Peter ( the guy with the female toon ) did not shoot his chars wife. His co worker did. I dont think you will be able to kill your kids or any kids. It was an idea he had for the first one but took it out to save himself from getting any shit from people about killing children. Short answer, no killing kids.

Thought it would be best to keep everything in the same topic, so here we go:

So the embargo is finally up. Last week a bunch of journalist saw the game at Lionhead in Guildford.

The build we saw was from the 7th of may. The game is content complete and about 5000 bugs from completion.

We were shown the magic system, a major plot point when you are a kid, some adult parts and I got hands on with the co-op part (local only, so far. Online announcement could come soon).

New stuff:

Mini map is dead. Peter hates it. So he made a "bread crump trail". Which is a golden line on the ground that will tell you which direction to go. It works kinda like a GPS system, so it will change if you go another direction, and will guide you in the right direction.

Magic system: You can either do a focused on one person attack, or a ranged attack. You can build up your attack in five levels. These five levels can be combined, so you can have level 1 be a fire spell, and then it builds up and adds level 2, which can be a slow spell, and so on.

There will be 8 different spells in the game.

You can buy every single house in the game. Each house will unlock something new. Either a sidequest, item or a skill

The game is 20-30 times larger then Fable 1.

The weather is completely dynamic, and will change as time progress. There will be different seasons.

Cutscenes are somewhat interactive. You can use the d-pad to do different gestures, and they can change the outcome of conversations. It's not on the scale of Mass Effect, but it can be done so you have some interactivity with the game world.

Peter wanted a sex minigame in there, but they had to drop it, due to the nature of the content. Now the screen just goes black, and your hear some moaning. And yes, you can have unprotected sex.

The female character also came close to being cut. But the female designers on the game wanted her in, so they made it happen.

There is three more Fable games planned. Lionhead is currently working on Fable 2 and a new project. The Black & White studio is no more.


I also had a talk with him, about videogames and that stuff. And he thinks that GTA4 is the absolute benchmark of how you can do story in videogames. And with Fable 2 he wants to make people attached to their character, and especially the dog.

He talked about how he was flirting with a girl, and her husband came by. And the husband became so pissed, he began kicking your dog. And Peter actually felt bad for flirting with the girl. He wants gamers to feel like he did.

The arcade versions are stand alone and on the actual Fable 2 disc, you might have you load up your game and then walk to the casino/pub to play the games or (the more unlikely) have it where you can get into the games through the menu screen.

The pre-order codes or buying it on the arcade just lets you be able to jump into the games a bit quicker or if you just want to play the pub games and wait till Fable 2 comes down in price or just skip the main game completly.

I really hope this game comes in a case with the LE set. It seems like the tins for 360 only/soon to be pc games come in some sort of a cardbord case inside the tin. Masseffect and Gears of War for example. However games that come on the PS3 and 360 come in a normal case inside of the tin. Soul Calibur IV and Assassins Creed both came in a normal case inside the tin.

I think he's bullshitting because the save file for the Pub Games is just a text file. There's no way to convey if you cheated or not. But I'm not going to get the game right away on the 21st. I'm going to wait and see if and what is done before trying to import the goods.

The game goes gold about a month before it ships. She they would have to push the release back a month, possibly a month and a half and then would have to compete with Gears 2 and Resistance 2,plus other games. By releasing it on schedule then gives them a month to work on the patch which can ship out as soon as a week after the game launches.

There are different security options that you can set that determines what someone can do in your game.

I have been waffling between Fable 2 and Fallout 3 for a while now and this is pushing me towards Fallout 3. I highly doubt that online co-op will be patched in within a week and it is bullshit to think it could be weeks or months before an announced, and highly-touted feature of the game will be made available. Hell, but that time we'll all be finished with the game.

At least I know I have no online options at all with Fallout 3.

I went into Fable with no expectations, and it ended up being my favorite game of all time. I'm doing the same with this, so this game is going to have to be pretty bad to disappoint me.

Now... as long as they don't make us pay for the co-op download, I don't see the problem. While I always thought the idea was cool, Fable is a single expierience at its core, so I'm not too upset about it. Regardless of all the features announced, this was ALWAYS going to be the one that would be a problem... I mean, just logistically it was a nightmare. People dropping in and out who can mess up your world? I can't even imagine how tough that's going to be to pull off.

Still, as long as it shows up (and for free) eventually, I don't see this as being a dealbreaker in any way.

Microsoft just made an interesting announcement (http://gamerscoreblog.com/press/archive/2008/10/01/fbllecttcge.aspx) today regarding the Fable 2 Collector's Edition (http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/08/07/fable-2-hits-us-oct-21-europe-oct-24-pub-games-aug-13/), by revealing that the retail price has dropped from $79 to $69, but they also removed a few of the edition's limited items.



Due to "supply chain issues", the Collector's Edition will no longer include the premium packaging, five fate cards or the adorable Hobbe Qee figure. Sad, depressing and crappy news! The new and $10 cheaper CE will be comprised of a copy of Fable 2, a making-of DVD and bonus in-game content ("The Hall of the Dead" Dungeon, "The Wreckager" Legendary Cutlass Weapon, and Spartan armor with energy sword). The new price for this less collectible CE is $69. Just think at how amazing that Hobbe figure would have been ... humph!

Its because some people are completely giving up on the game because the LE won't have the originally announced content. Read the comments above. I honestly can't believe how much of an impact its already had on CAG...hope the rest of the world doesn't feel the same way. I personally think it sucks...but they were extras, I'm still looking towards the full game.

Add me to cancelled. I give less than a crap about "making of", but I'm a sucker for figures and things to stick on my shelves. Making-of disk is negative value to me, and I don't think the in-game bonus content is worth ten bucks.
That's a big drop, a lot of stuff being cancelled, awfully close to release date. And I'd have to keep an eye on my preorder to make sure the price drop was applied appropriately, since I didn't get in when it was 69.99 with the GC.
This might move me to getting it at a later time as well, since there's now really no motivation to buy it on release date (as in, no special bonus like the LE). Very disappointing.

If the LE is now just a normal case that fits on my DVD rack with 2 discs, the manual, and a sheet that has the code for DLC, I'll be perfectly happy. I like making of videos, so it's not a waste of $10 to me.

The degree of the game being unfinished is increasing, though. At this point, I just hope the game can start up properly.

Bingo... that's my biggest issue, is that the CC thing is no longer a 'deal', especially considering that I ordered RIGHT after they stopped doing the $10 GC (even though it was still listed).

I think you can cancel, since CC charges the $10 giftcard as an individual item for $10.

CC is pretty easy to cancel... all you have to do is click a button in your order history on the site. If it works, you're good. If not... call them. Just because you got a GC doesn't mean they can force you to keep the pre-order.


If anything, I'd say 'supply problems' actually means they had TOO much demand for the LE. BioShock underlined how difficult it is to do a figure with a game, but that only work because they actually LIMITED it. The Fable 2 LE doesn't actually seem to be limited... at all... so I'd assume that they got too many orders to actually produce the extras in time. They shot themselves in the foot with this one and, like most of Molyneaux's ideas, stuff was promised before the logistics were worked out.

Well those people i feel sorry for. I simply said i'm canceling my CE since i was looking forward to the figure (which was cut from the package). Considering games cost $60 these days and often don't deliver, it was nice to see a CE that had a little bit of substance...and then to have it gutted 3 weeks from release, a bit disappointing. I am not in this boat, as I never had an interest in the LE. However, I think the thing that makes some CAGs buy at launch of a title is the extra swag. Otherwise, why not just go back to their CAG ways and wait for the game to drop in price?

I don't like to buy games at full price and the discussion of several different things being cut isn't helping sway me to a blind purchase on it. So after the mishap on the LE editions of Fable 2, they decided to offer a free download of 3 songs from Fable, and 3 songs from Fable 2.

It said to go to https://www.sumthingdigital.com/index.aspx and type FableCollection into the promo box and will be available on Oct.6, but I just clicked on the Fable 2 collection image on the right side of the screen, and it downloaded them for me.

It has the opening theme for Fable 2 which you hear in most of the game trailers that I really liked.

You both are right. Amazon isn't to blame but I'm just bummed about not getting some of the cool stuff that was promised by the publisher. I'm actually happy that they kept the in-game stuff because that means more game play in the end which I like.

And giving away "free" downloadable songs is stupid. WOW, they put a lot of effort posting music to download when they already had digital versions of every song of the game. If it was a physical soundtrack, it would be MUCH better.

I canceled my pre-order too. Why pay the $66.99 for the LE at Amazon (which was an awesome deal when it was $79.99) when you can cancel and get the regular at $59.99 and they give you a $10 gift code that you don't get with the LE? A making of DVD and some DLC isn't worth a $16.99 difference to me. I'm not even sure I'm going to get it at release now, I think I'll just wait and get it when the price starts to come down. Some free music tracks aren't enough to sway me. What a botched release for one of their key releases this holiday season.

There are 4? new songs in that download of the 6 in the file (1Fable Theme, 2Oakvale, 3Witchwood, 4WraithMarsh, 5SummerFields, 6Westcliff) the first song and the last 3 are new to me. The songs are new to me even though i have the Fable OST. Just thought i might clear that up for everyone.

I don't know if it's an issue of never playing the game, but there is certainly less reason to get it at launch. Obviously I don't speak for everyone, but in order for me to pay full price on new releases, I usually need an incentive. I tend to pick up LE's or games with a bonus that I think are cool at launch. Well, that and games that I expect to have trouble finding later. Neither of these now apply to Fable 2. I can wait for it to be cheaper now that the LE doesn't come with anything that I find value in.

LOL, I'm not going to lie, even I got a chuckle out of that one! My step-son is the residential collector of all things Yu-gi-oh and has a nice size action figure collection, so no thanks, I'll leave those types of toys for him to acquire. As to the other part of your statement, I purchased Oblivion CE for $10, Blue Dragon for $15, Eternal Sonota for $10, and Lost Odyssey for $15, all brand new, so I have absolutely no doubt I'll be able to find Fable 2 in this same capacity soon enough. Sorry, but I care about money first (LE/CE/SE I make exceptions for), developers second which is why I visit CAG for all my gaming needs. Contrary to common fear mongering, games are not going to disappear anytime soon...no matter if Lionhead Studios is around or not. I agree, generally, that there is less and less reason these days to buy a game @ launch w/o some extra incentive. If you're like, and have no aversion to used games, it is highly likely that with in just a few weeks you could get that same game as much as 40% off with all the GameStop coupons.

However, I dont go so far as to say that CAGs are *supposed* to have backlogs, though the vat majority of us do. I am personally trying to refrain from buy games unless I have the immediate intention of playing them (or they fall to five bucks :bouncy:).

I still haven't decided if I want to cancel this (even though I was adamant about it earlier). I think so. It'll drop in price eventually, and the only extra content I care about is the extra dungeon, which probably isn't worth ten bucks, and might be on Marketplace anyway. Unless I need to play it on day one, there's no longer a benefit (to me) to preorder the LE. Besides, I still need to finish Lost Odyssey (almost done), Mercs 2, Eternal Sonata, maybe put some more hours into Oblivion, and I am preordering Fallout LE (not the insane 100+$ one).

I saw over at http://www.n4g.com/xbox360/News-207770.aspx that the LE artwork will still be there and the fate cards will be downloadable pdfs that you can print off. If you read the full story at N4G you can find info on how to get some free Fable 1 and 2 music tracks for the fans!

Mouse over to the barrel at the left hand side. You'll see some options pop up, and the second one is "Chicken Kickin".
