They can't. The 360 would sprout a second red ring of death if you tried it in real time on it.

the commercial probably isn't strict real time-- it's that frame by frame stuff you see in the millions of boxes physics vids of Crysis.

It'll be real-time on PCs for about 3 or 4 years, then on a console.

I look forward to the next 5 years worth of "killing guys in the jungle" games that will no doubt be the result of this fancy new engine.

We've had quite a few years of WWII games... this is just another part of the cycle.

'cause all of Crysis takes place in a jungle, right?

I already posted this on friday.

It is in realtime.

Look at how the light sources move in real time.

last time i checked you can use a controller on a pc too....also it is cheaper to buy a $400-$600 console than a pc that can play the same high end game perfectly at max resolution

But why would you ever use a controller to play a FPS game on a PC?

You crack me up kid.

PS3 barely manages to hit 30fps on UT3 at 720p.

My PC rips up ut at 2560x1600(1600p) at around 70fps.

All the time for me. I fucking loathe the keyboard part of keyboard mouse control.

But I pretty much just don't bother with PC gaming at all these days for that and other reasons, so pretty much moot for me.

Yes my PC cost more then 500 dollars, but my pc can do so many more things then your console ever could.

Does it play Halo 3?

ITDEFX

This is theoretically possible on both the ps3/360. If the programmers know how to fully utilize each core properly you might be able to get something close to this. I don't think we will ever see a game with 10k colored balls bouncing down a hill. This might be a nice *Wow* scene limited to a certain section of the level but that's it.

I won't bash the 360 or PS3 as they are still maturing and now starting to show off what they can do. Remember before Resident Evil 4 came out on the cube as no one expected it to look that good on the Gamecube hardware?

Because it's true?

Because it's true?Uh, no. We are comparing two things that play video games. To throw in crap like "Well, mine can run Powerpoint slides and make folders!" means nothing.

Consoles do more than play games. They've moved on from video game consoles to "multimedia devices." Last I remember, the 360 plays videos, music, dvds and such and the ps3 does equal if not more. As does a PC.

People buy system to watch dvd's.

Example: PS2 & PS3

Is CryEngine 2 completely stand alone or was it built for the Crysis engine?

Either way, I'm scared to see the requirements.

I want Halo 4 with the Cry Engine 2 plz.

Seriously. I could hardly tell the difference when it came to bouncing balls and environment. But looking at the chicken u could see the fakeness, but overall It's getting harder to tell.

Can't wait to see a game like Silent Hill, or the new Resident Evil run on a engine like this.

Oh, and I wonder how much it will cost for a video card to run this. lol.

CryEngine2 is the engine that Crysis runs on.

CryEngine2 was demoed at GDC this year on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. I find it funny that CryEngine2 is running on both those consoles and the ONLY game that uses that engine right now is Crysis and EA still swears Crysis isn't coming to a console....
