I'm looking to start a family website for really cheap or maybe free. Just a place to be able to have anyone in the family upload pictures and maybe post to a message board. I'd like free, but would pay a little to keep unwanted forced ads off of the site.
Suggestions?

If you're looking to post pictures, Photobucket.com or some other free pic website is probably all you need. If you're looking for the ability to have conversations around those photos, Facebook isn't a bad idea. Creating your own site is a bit more annoying... you could always get hosting and put up a phpBB board like this one and some sort of photo hosting software but why bother when you can use something on the web for free?

Check to see if your ISP offers free web space; some of them do.

Wordpress.com, though I can't remember if they allow multiple users for one blog/subdomain.
