Q1) I'm a little disappointed in it not being a conventional RPG anymore, as I never was a big fan of strategy RPGs. But lately, after having playe Jeanne D'arc and Disgaea:AoD, I've warmed up to the genre a bit more and look forward to seeing where the series is gonna take this.

Q2) Wild Arms started off really promising, for me. But as the series progressed, it seemed to lose some focus and charm. One thing that stands out clearly in my mind is the first time I started up the first Wild Arms and was greeted with this beautiful and ridiculously catchy anime intro. The recent ventures into 3d have been somewhat of a letdown for me.

Q3) I'd like the game to move away from the 3D style and be more of a hand-drawn look, similar to how Wild Arms and the first two Suikodens looked. Apart from that, I can't ask for much more from the series.

1. I have been on a total strategy RPG kick for the past several months. I went straight from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance to Jeanne D'Arc to FFT War of the Lions, so the genre sits very well with me lately.

2. Wild ARMs always looked distinctive (at least in the PS1 days) for having sprite based characters on pre-rendered backgrounds. Also, the Wild West influence mixed with anime style has remained fairly consistent in the series, making it another distinctive hallmark.

3. I would love to see a new-gen RPG, whether it be Wild ARMS or otherwise, to reintroduce the "art" of lush, colorful pre-rendered backgrounds. They can truly be a piece of art all by themselves, and it's a shame to see them go in favor of 3D. The last game that truly wowed me in this regard was Baten Kaitos for the Gamecube.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I love SRPG games, so it has renewed my interest in the series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I haven't played it since the first in the series, but the western flavor was very cool.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Either continue the SRPG route, or do make the stories a bit less generic.

1. I'm a fan of SRPGs, but it'll depend on how the system works. If it has a job/class system, I'm ALL IN.
2. I was really impressed with the art style in 3. The cel-shading and the western setting really made it stand out.
3. They've GOT to speed it up. To be fair, I haven't played the more recent releases, but 1 and 2 moved so slowly I was afraid I'd fall asleep.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I am a little disappointed that it is not a traditional RPG like the others. But it might be a good change of pace for the series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
The Western theme is what sets it apart.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I would like them to stick with the traditional RPG route and make the battle system a little deeper.

1. I prefer traditional turn-based RPGs, but I occasionally get into SPRGs. The familiar hex system might set the game apart from its peers.

2. I haven't played a Wild ARMs game since the original, so I'm not sure how the series compares. At the time, I preferred FFVII.

3. I'd like to see an online component in any future game in the series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I feel that some sort of change was necessary in order to make the Wild ARMS series worth playing again. If changing the genre a bit does it, so be it.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
It had a great start. The original Wild ARMS was one of my favorite RPGs on the playstation, but the series quickly degraded into a set of generic RPGs.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I want to say that I want the Wild ARMS series to go back to its roots as a traditional hand drawn 3D RPG, but I don't think that would do it. The story telling and perhaps the subject matter needs to be done in a different way. How that is, I'm not exactly sure.

Q1. Well I do enjoy all types of RPGs. As for Wild Arms new game being a Strategy RPG, I would like to see how they handle it. I've played a few here and there and I'm currently enjoying the Disgaea series right now, but I"m always looking for new perspectives on this type of game.

Q2. I've always enjoyed the art of Wild Arms and the colorful characters in the series, but it would be the western theme that many have stated before that sets it apart.

Q3. I'm a big fan of the traditional RPG but I would really enjoy a fast paced storyline that is compelling and is full of mini-quests and well worth the investment of time. That is what I would like to see at least in this or any RPG.

Q1. Meh. I couldn't care less but I heard Wild ARMs was a good RPG series in the earlier days so a return to form on the PSP would have been nice. I don't find myself liking Strategy-RPGs too much but I'm always looking for the next Final Fantasy Tactics.

Q2. Well hearing Wild ARMs makes me think it's at the least a good RPG, or well-made.

Q3. Stick to the handhelds where Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, the Tales of..., Star Ocean, and a few other series don't reside. I wouldn't give it the time of day if it were on a console (unless it was amazingly beautiful) but handhelds are great.

Q1) As long as it's fun, I don't mind either way.

Q2) An RPG with a western theme.

Q3) Not quite sure, as I haven't played enough to have a conclusive opinion of the series, despite owning ACF, 3, 4, and 5.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Honestly, I'm very excited. I can't get enough portable (good) SRPGs.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I love the Western theme of the games. The series has been great overall with the exception of Wild Arms 3.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I like the SRPG direction being taken with XF. Maybe they would continue to make Western themeed SRPGs.

Q1) Being a fan of SRPGs, I thinks it's a great move. It's even better that it's on the PSP since I can take it on the go with me now.

Q2) The hex system has always been something I liked about the Wild Arm series. It's not without its faults, but I feel it gives the genre a much needed different approach.

Q3) It would be neat if it could become real time strategy like Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. Of course, that depends if they can get the strategy part down in XF.

Q1. All of the previews I've read are in agreement that XF is a great game; however, I wish there was a AAA traditional JRPG on the way from Sony, SE, or some other company. Even Crisis Core appears to have a lot of action/RPG elements in it.

Q2. I've only played the original, but I liked it for the time and it held up pretty well when I downloaded it through PSN a few weeks back.

Q3. I kind of answered this in the first question, but I'd like to see a balls-out AAA Wild Arms JRPG on the PS3 from Sony, a complement to the Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and SMT games. I'd think they'd have the resources to do this.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I feel like it may be moving from one genre crowded with excellent titles that overshadowed it to another genre with excellent titles that will overshadow it. Worried.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I think most of the series has been serviceable but unremarkable RPGs.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I also would like to see a big budget blowout version for the ps3

Q1. I'm totally cool with it, and I'm expecting great things. The Wild Arms battle engine has really evolved over the years, so I don't see why this should be anything to get alarmed over. Not to mention a friend of mine picked up the Japanese release and speaks very highly of it!

Q2. Over the years, Wild Arms has definitely had its ups and downs. I absolutely loved the first game, and the second and third were decent. The fourth, with its new battle engine, was great fun, and I've yet to play the fifth, though I've owned it since day one. I dig the western theme, since that really sets it apart from most other RPGs.

Q3. Well, the strategy RPG angle will prove interesting, I'm sure. I'd say the most important thing for the franchise is to keep things fresh plot-wise and make sure the characters stay engaging.

Q1.) I love the fact Wild Arms has gone SRPG. I just hope they have some truly innovative ideas implemented, give Nippon Ichi and Atlus a run for their money.
Q2.) I like the fact that they were willing to take the risk and make an RPG series set in a Wild West type environment. I personally can't remember any other RPG to do so.
Q3.) I would love to see the Wild Arms series go more in the direction of MMORPG. With the creation of all the different job classes they have here in XF they really only need to create a story to fit the scenario and throw it up online. It would be especially cool if they did it in a manner where you traveled in smaller groups and they instanced all the zones for your group, really add to that Wild West feel.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
A1. Great introduction to the PSP. The system needs more titles like these.. Its perfect for commute.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
A2. Honestly, after Wild Arms 1 i have not played the series since. I played a little bit of Wild Arms 2 but i was deeply disappointed (i still want my $50 back from that one!). It needs a fresh new start.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?
A3. Maybe it should be released on portable systems for now. since the system itself is desperate for a good RPG/Strategy series, i think alot more people will be able to play the series..

1) I've got mixed feelings. The past 6 months or so have been flooded with Strategy RPG's. FF Tactics WOTL, Jeanne D'arc, Disgea: AOD, Advance Wars: DOR, Luminous Arc, Front Mission, etc. I've tried the majority of them, and for some reason they just didn't hook me like they used to. Don't get me wrong, I love the genre, I just want to make sure that the game is unique enough to really stand out.

2) It's a niche series that seems to get lost in the background.

3) I think the strategy RPG gameplay & handheld platform is a smart choice for this franchise. This game belongs on this platform. One way the game can distinguish itself is by implementing some real-time elements, which no other SRPG has done.

Q1. I'm pretty happy the series has gone in this direction. Personally, I've taken a real interest in strategy RPGs and it's nice to finally have something besides Disgaea and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Q2. I think it started off a little slow but I think that as it's evolved over the years its kept its charm while still introducing interesting and fun gameplay elements.

Q3. I'd like to see something like WA5 but on the PS3 or 360. i also wouldn't mind a console strategy RPG like this PSP iteration.

Q1. Strategy RPGs are one of my favorite genres, and most of my PSP games are from said genre. I don't grow tired of things I like, so it's neat to see that it went the route of the SRPG.

Q2. It's always been at the very least above average for me. Not groundbreaking, but always solid. It's an interesting universe that I'm interested in.

Q3. I'd like to see it on a next-gen console in either the form of a traditional RPG or SRPG. If that isn't possible, I'd like to see a continuation on handhelds in either direction. I love both traditional RPGs and SRPGs, so I don't have a huge preference one way or the other.

Q2. anything has to be better then the wild arms 4. I still need to pick up 5 but wild arms is one of the better rpg games that i love . Personally i think i liked the earlier wild arms even over te FF games.

A1. Strategy RPGs made out of traditionally non-strategy-RPG series seems to have worked better for some series than others. But the Shining Force games are among my top favorites, so I'm ready to play. Besides, based on the screenshots, this game looks good.

A2. The Wild Arms series uses its western/fantasy/Japanese RPG cross style very well, especially with the music. That style combined with well done traditional elements make the games fresh and fun.

A3. An action RPG could be excellent. I see a lot of potential there; the ideas are flowin' outta me :)

Q1. I really enjoyed the Wild arms series, I'm interested to see how this will work out. I've played other games where change made the game rock. I'm looking forward to this!

Q2. Wild Arms back in the day was semi par with what was out at the time, better than most but not quite the epic tale of FF. Now I like the series a little bit more since it's some what retro.

Q3. Just keep the titles coming! Keep a good story, maybe more characters, can't have enough characters! Wild arms is a series that you know will be good.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I dig SRPGs, so I'm pretty stoked about it actually.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I think the style is unique, and it makes the player feel like the setting is a character in and of itself, which is a tough thing to do in the gaming universe.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

As cool as SRPGs are, I'd love to see it go back to it's traditional roots because it's a highly underrated series that a lot of people didn't get a chance to experience in its prime.

Love it, SRPGs easily have my favorite type of gameplay.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Pretty good. Not always the greatest in terms of story, but the battle systems and characters are usually enjoyable.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I feel great that wild arms is a strategy RPG due to the fact it will have similar elements to final fantasy tactics and I really enjoyed final fantasy tactics.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

The western theme to the game makes it unique comparied to all the RPG's I have seen out there.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

I would like to see Wild Arms be more of an Adventure/(Real-time) RPG with voice acting and online gameplay and of course be on the PS3. I have played wild arms since ps1 and continued with ps2 all the way to wild arms 5. Wild arms 6 with all the above listed features would be a great addition to the already great series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

A1-I'm not really that surprised actually. 1, 2, and 3 had pretty traditional battle systems, with 4 and 5 innovating and taking the series in a new direction with the HEX system. It seems like a natural progression to try something new with a the game since it is the first time on a hand held console. (I doubt downloadable WA1 via the PSN counts). I'm looking forward to seeing how they implement it, though I'm sure the game will be fun no matter what.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

A2-It's hard to compare the series as a whole to other RPGs, since there has been so much variation throughout. Even WA2 had areas on the world which were lush instead of your typical sand-stained landscape. For someone like me who grew up watching westerns with his Dad, it's a great break from your typical RPGs. There is only so many times I can handle saving the world with an androgynous lead character while summoning dragons or using forbidden technology.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

A3-As long as they continue to create well-developed characters with compelling stories, in a Western/Tech setting I'm sure I will continue to play the games. As well, innovation for the new games is great but just don't take it too far. Keep the basic thematic elements, but don't make the changes from game to game so large that you might alienate traditional fans of the series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

A. I love strategy RPGs, I like the Wild Arms universe so I feel pretty good about it. The only thing being that it seems, especially on portables, that this genre is over saturated so unless you can really stand out from the rest your going to get lost among mediocre strategy rpgs.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

A. I really enjoyed the first one thought the puzzles were clever and not too easy. The anime style is pleasing. Story could be deeper.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

A. With the growing number of adult gamers I want more mature games. I would like this series to get darker with older main characters and the story to have more mature themes and issues.

1) I welcome all new strategy RPGs. I have not played any Wild Arms games before but the screen shots look cool and I have liked the genre since Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1.

2)It would be hard for me to compare it since I've never played a Wild Arms before, but the hex grid system seems like an interesting new perspective on strategy over a traditional square grid.

3)If it went to the PS3 also that would be great. The PS3 is in need of more RPGs.

Q1. Considering the format of the last two Wild Arms games I believe a Stratagy RPG format one isn't going to hurt the series. The HEX System is sortof like a dumbed down stratagy RPG interface anyway, I believe the WA team can manage to pull off a full scale one without hurting the battle system in any way.

Q2. The WA series is by far my favorite. I enjoy how the games make constant references to previous games as if they're all set along one timeline. The WA series acknowledges Fans favorite characters and game mechanics and so every game is typically a tremendous improvement. Unlike series like FF and Grandia, the WA games have also kept a constant theme as far as setting and feel - they're all Western games, yet they all feel so different than previous installments.

Q3. I would like to see the next Wild Arms game following the path that Wild Arms 5 took but adding mechanics from Wild Arms 3 in terms of Dragon and Sand-Ship battles. I would also like to see the Wild Arms 5 world map return but with a bigger world to explore instead of the slightly limited world that was presented in WA5. I would like to see one of the magic systems from WA 1 or 2 return, allowing you to make your own spells and whatnot, instead of learning magic with skills. If such a magic system returned I'd hope that they'd allow a much larger selection of magic in addition to synthesizing custom magics that involve items and whatnot in order to make a spell feel more like your own. I would like to see the old puzzle system return to a new installment. I would like to be able to control all of my characters within dungeons and use all of their individual tools in order to get through the dungeons. I miss having difficult dungeons that require thought to complete. And, finally, I would hope the graphic power of a next gen console would allow high res textures to be used instead of the simple ones used in all previous games, so even the sand looks grainy and the weapons look like real metal.

1. I've never played the series so it sounds good to me.

3. 360 edition would be nice

1. Well, to tell the truth, I've had very mixed feelings about strategy RPGs in general. When they are done in a very simplified manner with a great story (see: Shining Force, Vandal Hearts), then they appeal to me. Other, more complex games such as any of the Nippon Ichi games do not appeal to me. On the other hand, I'm a huge fan of Wild Arms so right now I'm cautiously optimistic.

2. The first thing most people notice, I think, is that it doesn't have the same graphical quality as a Final Fantasy game. For some people that may be a turn off but I have always enjoyed the anime style, especially that of Wild Arms 3 and 4. Unfortunately, I would have to say that the Wild Arms series starting from the very first one, has been overshadowed by other RPGs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and even Suikoden.

3. When I first heard that Wild Arms 4 would have a totally redesigned battle system, I was disappointed. I enjoyed the original battle system (even though it may have been a little stale) so I was afraid of change. But after playing through WA4 (and soon WA5!), I have to agree it was for the best. I think they should (in the vein of Wild Arms: Alter Code F) remake Wild Arms 2 with the hex-battle system for a next-gen system.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
A1. I have never personally played the series. A good deal of rpg's often make a strategy/tactical spinoff and usually aren't bad, hell some are godly (FFT anyone)

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
A2. Again I haven't personally played this series, however one of my friends has and enjoys it. It seems to be one of those cult like games (no not thematically), just that is has a relatively small yet faithful following.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
A3. Strictly based on what I have read, the series is good game playwise. The series however needs to have a big turning point. It needs something to attract more fans to at least be popular enough to be reprinted as a greatsest hits or whatever series.

Q1. Were this a console release I might be less enthusiastic, but I think it works well on a portable system like the PSP.

Q2. Having had only limited experience with the game, I can't comment too much on it in relation to its competitors. However, I did find the setting and characters to be entertaining, and a step up above the usual generic mish-mash of RPG stereotypes.

Q3. While gameplay and story obviously come first, it would be nice to see a Wild Arms for a modern console(s).

Q1. A bit dissapointed, but a western stratagy game might be good.

Q2. Unique, plot wise its hard to compare as the western aspect rocks.

Q3. I think it should go back to its roots. Simple RPG play in the Wild West w/ multiple storylines that overlap.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I love SRPG's. Disgaea did it perfect with a great story and great gameplay. Hopefully this game can produce a simular quality game.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Two main things that go along way into making a RPG game stand out but are rarely done it seems. One thing is 2 player co-op play. Tales of symphonia, Final Fantasy 6 and 9, star Ocean III. Playing a more true RPG (not MMO) through with another player makes a game so much more special rather than the other person sitting there for 40-80 hours or passing off. Second is when good carry overs are made. A set of three games or more that all stand on there own but are deeply intertwined sp? make that much more of a reward. Xenosaga did this well. Suikoden 1-3 did this amazingly well. All 3 games stood on there own but when you look at all 3 games together and the manga that was an unbelieveably well done series. I haven't seen much that compares to that level of depth.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Co-op and intertwined stories as mentioned above.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
i love SRPG's and id like more popular franchises to attempt to make one

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
id say there in the top 5 to other series like FF, DQ, suidoken etc, there good games but not the best or that memorable, there kind of under the radar.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
the wild arms series needs to try something differant and i think there going in the right direction with WA5. they need to do something that tells casual RPG fans "hey look at us, play our game" wich i dont think they've done. but this Wild Arms SRPG is a great idea if they can pull it off.

1. I'm not a big fan of SRPGs, so it's a bit of a disappointment to see that a portable Wild Arms game isn't a standard RPG. However, there have been good SRPGs on the PSP, so we can see if this lives up.

2. The Wild ARMs series used to be one of the more standard JRPGs with a couple twists with the general formula. What really made it interesting, however, was the introduction of the HEX battle system in WA4.

3. Probably a next-gen RPG for any of the three consoles, and keep it a standard JRPG, with the lush Western backgrounds we're used to seeing.

Q1. I think it's great, I love Strategy RPG games anyway, and I did enjoy the Wild Arms games when they first came out, so this could potentially be a great combination. I think it's about time they took the series in a new direction; hopefully it will pan out.

Q2. It's hard to compare them on a whole, as they range from great to decent, but if I had to choose a way to describe them, I would go with "ever-evolving." The only difference is hopefully this time it will be for the better.

Q3. After this game I'd like to see them either remake the original or create a new game that is more like it. I still have faith in the series, I think they just need to spend more time/effort in producing the Wild Arms games and they could be great.

Thanks for the opportunity!

I don't even know if I can win here since I didn't find any information regarding international shipping, but I'll participate nonetheless. I'd pay a little extra for shipping if I win. :]

Q1) Since the last games I played on my PSP, and this sounds almost too coincidental to be true, were "Final Fantasy Tactics: WOTL" and the original "Wild ARMs" downloaded from the Playstation Store, I couldn't be more excited. I spent a lot of hours on both and I hope WA XF will glue me to the screen in a similar way. I like WA and I like SRPGs, so bring it on.

Q2) The thing I appreciate in the WA series above a lot of other RPGs is the setting, the music and the gunplay. It's always difficult for me to compare games to others, but I know I had a lot of fun with the WA games I played.

Q3) If I was in charge of another WA game I would:
1. Go even more into the whole Frontier/ Wild West setting, complete with music, guns , towns , story and characters while still trying to keep the anime-ish style.
2. Center the story completely around the AMRs.
3. Use the nice graphics engine introduced by SEGA's Valkyre of the Battlefield.

Q1. Its a very nice change of pace from the other Wild Arms games. Can't top Wild Arms + strategy RPG.

Q2. I would say Wild Arms is something unique and different from the Final Fantasy games. The Western theme has been pretty cool too. They are always a welcome change of pace.

Q3. I would like to see them make another strategy game, then go back to their roots and make a next gen Wild Arms game, hopefully on something other than the PS3.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Personally, I love SPRGs. I have played Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, and even Generation of Chaos. Therefore, Wild ARMs turning towards SRPG elements excites me. I have played previously Wild ARMs games, and I enjoy them; but a Wild ARMs with a strategy element? Finally!

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Compared to the rest of the RPG games, I would have to say that Wild ARMs has never really brought something consistent to the market. Previous Wild ARMs games range from traditional RPGs to Puzzle solving. I enjoy the fact the company tries something new with every installment of Wild ARMs, which I believe makes this series notable compared to the rest.
Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Actually, the release of Wild ARMs XF was the direction I wanted this series to take. Since they finally answered my prayers, I am wholly satisfy with their direction right now. In the future, I hope they continue to find new and innovative ways to improve this series. (Hopefully towards more SRPGs) ;).

1. I am thrilled that the new WA is a strategy RPG. These are my favorite genre (see Final Fantasy Tactics, Jeanne D'Arc, etc.)
2. I have always loved the wild west theme and traditional RPG gameplay. Wild Arms has been my favorite RPG series (well maybe along with Final Fantasy) so I cannot wait for this game. My fav. RPG series + my fav. genre = uber happiness!
3. I think in the future there should be new installments of the traditional WA game for consoles, and the developers should explore alternative genres like this - maybe putting them on a handheld.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I am really looking forward to it, but would rather it stay with the traditional RPG style.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I find the wild west setting to be very interesting and unique in comparison to the cookie cutter mold that many RPGs fall into. It also has one of the best soundtracks of any RPG series.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

I would like to see it go back to a turn based non-grid battle system, but hopefully if the turn based strategy of XF is a success we will have a spin off series simular to Final Fantasy Tactics.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I don't care if the game becomes a strategy rpg, all I care is the overall execution like game mechanics and story. Many rpgs follow the same suite of converting their turn based rpgs into strategy rpg. But in end, they add very little new content to differentiate from competition. In end, people compare it to inferior version of final fantasy tactics. Developer should try something new and innovated, rather putting units in a square grid. Video games like Jeanne D Arc or Disgaea.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
Pretty average, not too good nor not too bad, just right down the middle. Very little have evolved in entire series of Wild Wild West beside the hex grid.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Enough with the Coyboy theme and same game mechanics with guns. Developer should try something new and engage to draw more appeal to mainstream gamers. At least this way Wild Arms might have future, their sales have been pretty lackluster since first installation.

Q1. This is interesting change of direction. How many times can we save the world with new ARMS anyways? I like for this to be better than FFT: War of Lions.

Q2. Well, since I haven't really beat any Wild ARMs game. I would say that they look pretty similar to me. I better look at screenshots of this game so I could give a better answer.

Q3. I like it to take a more sci-fi approach to it, with more deathray guns and robots. Also, include some plasma swords that melt doors. I suppose it should end up like a combination of Xenosaga and Final Fantasy series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I think that the strategy RPG is a good field to explore. The HEX battle system introduced in 4 already seemed like a step in that direction. I'm not sure I'd like the entire series to move in this direction per se, but if done correctly it could work for the franchise.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I've yet to delve too deep into Wild ARMs 4 or 5, but I've always enjoyed how different the setting and music was compared to other RPGs. I also enjoyed the amount of puzzle solving and how you had to make use of each characters tools.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?
I guess I'd like for the series to, as others have stated, return to its roots. I don't mind when there are sci-fi elements intertwined (its been there since the first game), but seeing jet bikes in the 4th game worried me a little. I'd also like for them to return to the tool system; it made for some great puzzle solving and added to the uniqueness of each character.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I would rather they stuck with more traditional RPG elements because I rarely play strategy games.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
The Wild ARMs series is like a cookie cutter RPG in my opinion. The game is a solid turn-based RPG, but there has not been any significant improvements compared with other games in the genre. I do love the music and wild west atmosphere of the games though and the original game is still one of my favorite RPG's of all time.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I would like to see the Wild ARMs series evolve as a turn-based RPG and introduce a more active gameplay element (see Shadow Hearts or FF12) to evolve in the genre and to keep the game from getting stale. Also being able to change characters to solve puzzles or for combat was nice from the original.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I love SRPGs so I don't mind the move; however, I hope it doesn't stay that way.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
The Wild ARMs series is one of my favorite RPG series. I was always drawn to the blending of futuristic and wild west ideas.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I hope they go back a little to their roots for the gameplay. Bring back the original TOOLS system, switching between characters on the overworld, get rid of the way skills/magic were learned in the last two. The hex battle system is fine though. The stories have always been good, and the music has been fantastic.
Maybe a remake of 2nd Ignition like they did with the first game.

1.) If they do it right, the game should be as cool as the others. I think the guns would work well in a more SRPG setting. Hopefully they take notes from games like Disgaea and Tactics to really make a great game.

2.) I was a huge fan of the first two Wild Arms games, but then sorted of drifted from the series. I recently started them up again and it just doesn't seem the same. This is probably due to the glut of RPGs in the late 90s, and capitalization efforts on Wild Arms. Let's hope that this game turns the series around!

3.) I think it would be cool to have more sci-fi things in it. I know as Wild Arms it should be more Western, but you can integrate some really sweet technologies and such to make the game amazing.

Q1. I feel fantastic about Wild Arms moving in the SRPG direction for the PSP. I forgot how much I loved strategy RPGs before Jeanne D'arc and War of the Lions came out; now I simply can't get enough. The PSP's sleep function was built for epic games like this just so I can play them between classes. And I'm really excited about the hex battle system being applied to a full-on SRPG. The system from 4 and 5 worked like one already although on a much smaller scale, and I could see how adapting the system to a much larger area would make for a great game.

Q2. Obviously Wild Arms has that wild west influence right down to stealing songs from classic American westerns, but what makes the series stand out in my mind is that wild west sensibility as seen through the eyes of crazy Japanese game developers. It also doesn't hurt that Wild Arms was the first RPG I ever played and I have a lot of fond memories for the series no matter how bad or ridiculous the games get.

Q3. An HD strategy rpg on the PS3 or 360 would probably ruin my life, as I wouldn't be able to stop playing it, but to be honest, I'd much rather see the series continue down the path it's been ever since 2 came out: Awesome, traditional RPGs with pretty good storylines, amazing music, and ridiculous japanese storylines. Actually, as long as they don't remake the first one again, it doesn't matter what they do with the series, really. Oh, and they need to release a soundtrack to the first game with the US end credits song. That song is amazing, and I can't hear it unless I watch a horrendous capture of the credits on YouTube.

1) I feel that it is a new refreshing take on a familiar motif. The wild arms series has started to stagnate in recent years and really could use a kick in the pants. Even the nostalgia factor of some of the older games is starting to wear off a bit, so it seems that the series could start anew and have a rebirth of sorts.

2) The original Wild Arms was a definitive RPG for the PS1 at the time of its release. RPGs were just beginning to get a foothold in the North American Market and in part, the niche genre of gaming began to slowly but surely grow until FFVII arrived and everything erupted. While the game doesn't quite hold up to classic standards as much as its other brethren from that era, it is by no means a forgotten relic. However, sadly, the charm began to fade as the sequels began to pale in comparison to the natural evolution that other rpg games began to take.

3) I hope to see the Wild Arms series either take a radically new approach, ala XFire, and at least see what can be done by tinkering with a new formula. If not, go back to a completely traditional 2d classic rpg in the vein of Dragon Quest 8. A solid cast of characters, strong plot, and creative/unique art are all fine and well, but the gameplay is what will give the game its wings and longevity. If one merely wants to find a good story, there are a plethora of other rpgs that can fill the void. Adding some new original gameplay mechanics can help to separate wild arms from the crowd. I'm also glad that the decision was made to bring this to the PSP. While console games are great, there is more of a chance to gain a larger market share by targeting a relatively untapped user base with an *original game* (the marquee rpg titles i think of on psp are: valkyerie profile lenneth, disgaea afternoon of darkness, final fantasy tactics war of the lions, and j'ean d'arc, with 3 of the 4 being ports).

In any case, good luck to the title and hopefully it can rekindle the faith of the Wild Arms faithful.

1) I dont have too much of a problem with it, but the old way is still something I like more but the stategy RPG will just make it more fun and challenging.

2) You can't really compare Wild Arms to any other, it's basicly it's own genre in way just like the why Suikoden and Final Fantasy are. Comparing either one against another would just be unfair.

3) I would love to see a complete next-generation game fully 3D and improved from the last-generation games would be ubber kool. Also putting the original battle system would be like heaven as well =]

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
SRPGs are perhaps my favorite sub-genre of RPGs when they are well done. As long as it's gameplay is solid and it doesn't just copy the system of other popular SRPGs it should be great.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I think that their western theme is interesting and they don't have any major flaws in my eyes. I like them more than the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series, but not as much as the Shin Megami Tensei or Tales of series.

Q1, I feel going to a new genre is worth a try. Final Fantasy has done it, and Suikoden has done, two of series contempories on the PSOne. It is nice as a side story and worth a shot to experince Filgaia in a new genre.

Q2, The Wild Arms series has been up and down like the Suikoden series. Wild Arms bridged the gap between Beyond the Beyond, Persona, Suikoden, and Final Fantasy VII. The 2nd game seemed a little unispired and I enjoyed the 3rd game. I am currently working on getting IV into rotation and have yet to purchase V.

Q3, I would like to see Wild Arms get back to basics and reintroduce what made the 1st one great. The graphics of the 1st one worked so well with the mood the game was going for and the main enemies had a personality. The parallel storytelling of the good guys/bad guys worked well and it is something that Final Fantasy has done for years.

Q2. The lore and story of the games makes it unique. The western steamunk like themes always draw me back to play them. Don't try to diminish it like what happened in wa4.

Q3 MMORPG I have waited for years for someone to make a western themed mmo and wild arms is the perfect candidate. The story setting and not to mention the gameplay system based around force abilities and ARMS would be awesome. it will make the Wild Arms series better! i will totally enjoy it as i love Strat RPGs such as Front Mission 4, Disgaea, etc. its a breathe of fresh air for the series and i feel it will do good to.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
thought the series has had sum hurdles (WA 2 though WA 4 had mixed feelings), its a pretty good series. love the stories to them. i cant rly compare it as it has its own style and play to it. it is unfortunate that it gets lost in the flood of RPGs that come out. WA 5 was great and i know this one will be also!

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
i hope they takes the series more in depth, like the Shin Megami Tensei has. i hope to see more anime like characters and cutscenes. i want to see more depth and interation in the game, more things to break it apart from the generic RPG formula like others follow. i like to see it jump to the next gen consoles and get stuff like downloadable content and expansions

Q1. I love the wild arms series, and final fantasy tactics....so what a great game! I'm really looking forward to this "Wild Arms interpretation" of the strategy RPG genre.

Q2. In general, the wild arms series is a great series whose storyline beats out several others (i prefer the wild arm's western theme to the generic futurism type theme). However, I find that i can best compare Wild Arms 1/Wild Arms Alter Code F vs. FF7. Since a friend and I were comparing these two the other day, i came to the conclusion that the wild arms 1's storyline beats out that of FF7. (and i personally prefer the graphics in Wild Arms 1/Alter code F to ff7 as well)

Q3. While the wild arms' series take on the western theme seems to have been the main point of all the sequels, overall the first wild arms (and the reiteration - Alter Code F) had the best storylines in my opinion. I would love for the series to go back to its roots and have a storyline as deep as that first game.

Q1) Disappointed. I never liked the Hex system of Wild Arms 4 and 5. I wished it would go back to the traditional battle system.

Q2) The Wild Arms series has been one of my favorite RPGs ever since I've played WA 2 in the PSX. Although the recent ones aren't that good compared to the first three games. Besides, I love the "western-ish" music of the games.

Q3) Uh, why not return back to it's "western" theme roots? I've haven't felt I'm playing the same game as I did years back when I played 4 and 5 since the devs. pretty much ditched the whole western theme.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I wish that they wouldn't have gone to a tactics scheme.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

They are a long running series which had its ups and downs.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

I wish that they would go back to their original RPG scheme.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
A1.Wild ARMs always been a turn wait basis game since 97' just like Final Fantasy VII and continues to with simple battle system so everyone be able to comprehend. The bgm composed by Michiko Naruke captures the every moment throughout all the WA Series. It wouldn't be called an RPG if you don't think a little bit harder than usual. Thank you Puzzle Pyramids in 3rd Advance.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
A2. Answer to that one varies a lot. Like all major RPG having a fancy anime intro or some sort, the 3-d environment with 2d character made the major changes in 3rd Advance and continues on to advance on. Alter F managed to haul 3d throughout the whole game which was pretty impressive and I can't say about 5th Vangard since I haven't get a chance to play when on deployment. Battle system always seem to be common throughout all rpg-type game and every bgm is unique to a point. Overall, all RPGs have the same gfx platform to some extent, it based on the consumer whether they like it or not

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?
Its really time to break out of the turn wait basis and go into more like Crisis Core which may take a long time to make, but the result is worth it. Though controlling more than 1 character might be challenging in that platform; thats why you would have set character's characteristic before or during the battle mode like agressive, defensive, all out magic, and so forth.

Q1. It's good because it fits with the system really well. This genre of games could be really successful on the PSP.

Q2. I've never played a Wild Arms game, so an educated answer to this one, but I would love to get this game and tell you what I think then.

Q3. I want to have more games on the PSP that are lengthy (30+ hours would be awesome) and have a great story with cool cutscenes and good voice acting. And by more, I mean at least 1. I hope that this series could do that for me.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
It's great, I love SRPG's while I'm a bit indifferent to regular RPG's. Final Fantasy Tactics, Joan D'Arc, and Metal Gear Ac!d 2 are some of my favorite PSP games.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I've only played two, but I didn't like the whole Western motif. I can't think of any other RPG's that use that genre.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?
Definitely SRPG; Even if I don't win, I plan to check this title out.

Honestly, I am not too thrilled. The balance between good srpgs and good jrpgs is off. I'd much rather you had made a classic turn based rpg with some new elements added.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Wild Arms is a great series and I hope it doesn't go away any time soon.

Q1: While I think it's a major change, in my opinion it is a welcome change to the series.

Q2: Although I haven't played the latest installment, from the looks of the screenshots it looks very promising, and I'm a huge fan of SRPGS. Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem are a few of my favorites.

Q3: A deep, engaging, SRPG on a console like the 360 or PS3 would be awesome.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
- I recently started playing strategy RPGs and I am enjoying the genre. I hope Wild Arms is fast paced like Jeanne D'Arc.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
- I haven't played any other RPGs with a western theme so this by itself sets it apart from other RPG titles.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?
- This is a positive direction for the series, i.e. going portable and strategy. Hopefully they bring the Wild Arms series to the PS3 as well.

Q1. I've always preferred strategy RPGs vs traditional RPGs. I personally think SRPGs work better on a portable anyway since there is never a sense of urgency or demand while playing. If you have to stop 5 min into a fighter or an hour into a fight, you are still ok and set to go or stop :)

Q2. I personally like the western aspect of the series, but kind of feel it needs to have a stronger western cowboy aesthetic to it.

Q3. In relating to Q2 I would love to see an adventure more about the land and scenerey and less about the fantasy aspects of the series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Ever since NIS has went on a rampage releasing SRPG's here I have been a fan. To series like Wild Arms and Even Suikoden Tactics hit the market makes me happy. This seems like a nice edition to the WA series and it has seemed like they have been hinting this direction with the fighting style of the last 2 console games.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Well it is similar to many other JRPG's with the cliche boy saves world type deal but in another way it is it's own series. With the way each game has changed in some way it is keeping pace to keep fans interested and bring in a few new ones. The thing that has always brought me back to buy a new WA game has been the old Wild western theme they use.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Well them making a full on SRPG is great and all and more of these titles would be great for the PSP/PS2/PS3 but as a branch off of the main WA franchise. I would still like to see them make the full scale RPG games for consoles.

Q1. Given the addition of the hex-based combat system starting in #4, it seemed a little natural for this series to delve into the strategy genre (I mean, even R-Type did it) My only big issue with it turning strategy is the probably reliance on random recruits to fill your ranks. Wild ARMs has traditionally been about a small group of adventurers trying to stop Filgaia's destruction. Perhaps if it works out like J'eanne D'Arc, then I won't have a problem.

Q2. Very few games exist in the same world throughout the series, and even fewer actually have a timeline that exists along each and every title (Suikoden has it, but each game takes place in a different country even through they're all within the same 150 years. CastleVania does the same thing, but there are a few recurring characters in each title.)

Q3. I wouldn't mind seeing another title before the fall of Filgaia. More of when ARMs aren't just some weapon to be feared.

1. As much as I like stratergy RPGs, the psp seems to have had a whole lot come out in the last year, it would of been nice to see a tradition Wild Arms RPG, but I'm looking forward to XF all the same.

2. I've always liked the Wild Arms series, mostly since the wild west theme is so different than the traditional fantasy setting.

3. Having not played the latest Wild Arms for the PS2 since it has compatibility problems with the PS3, I'm not sure how they have progressed, but I like the series to become more nontraditional when it comes to random encounters, I remember 3, or 4, can't remember which I played last, has way to many random encounters, though it did have some nice ways to avoid them, and I think thats a great thing to do, let players decide when they want to fight, sometimes I just was to get to the next location before quiting and don't want to fight 10 battles to get there, but sometimes I do.

1. I think it's great that the Wild Arms Series is taking a new route by being a strategy RPG. It's always nice to see developers take a chance once in a while.

Q2. The Wild ARMs series to me is the definition of average, not that that's a bad thing. The games are always enjoyable in every aspect, they just don't tend to push the boundaries.

Q3. I loved the cameos by the old casts in Wild ARMs 5, but what I would really love is to be able to play as some of them again. Like in Final Fantasy Tactics with Cloud, maybe allow the player to recruit the old members as units in the XF series.

Q2. It's pretty fun, like FF. I've played the first Wild Arms for like a couple of hours, so I don't really have a full say on how the game as a whole is.

Q1. Doesn't bother me. I love Strategy RPGs. I imagine that once they go back to another numbered sequel (Wild ARMs 6) that it will be a tradition turn-based RPG but I love strategy RPGs and can't wait to try this one out.

Q2. I never played the first two Wild ARMs, but I enjoyed 3 and thought that 4 was also really fun and the platforming elements were a nice addition to what could otherwise been just a standard RPG world map. There aren't many western themed RPGs so I've always enjoyed that since any game based on a western theme is rare nowadays.

Q3. I really enjoyed the combat system of Wild ARMs 4 but the story, and characters weren't that great in my opinion. I would love to see that combat system continue (with some tweaks of course), but a more mature storyline. It has a western theme, and there are lots of possibilities for a great story.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

As a big fan of strategy RPGs, seeing this change in format has caused my disposition change from indifference to serious interest. A well-implemented SRPG on the PSP is exactly the kind of game I would enjoy.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

As of late, the Wild ARMs series has very much fallen behind other higher-profile RPG series. I don't think the series ever realized its potential.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?

I think the Wild ARMs series needs to venture into new (or, at least, different) territory in order to become a viable RPG series once again. I like the idea of a SRPG, and I would also be interested in a true next-gen (i.e., PS3) sequel in the series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I have honestly played very few RPG and SRPG games. My lifestyle (2 kids w/ one on the way and HS English/Drama Teacher) limits my time to play games. However through the wonder of my new psp and cfw and my collection of ps1 gems I am really enjoying FFTactics. So, if this can compare to that classic than I am sold on the game!

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

As you may infer from the answer to the previous question, I am not really up to date on RPG game series and have never played a Wild ARMs game. From reading some of the other comments it seems I should really check out some of the earlier installments.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

Not being "into" the series, I don't really know if I can answer this question adequately. Um, portable games are my friends when it comes to rpgs. It takes me forever to complete these type of games so it is really convienient (and I am more likely to purchase) when they are on a portable system.

I guess I'm neutral on this. I'm interested, but would have rather seen a new, traditional entry in the series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Wild ARMs has been one of my favorites since the PS1 original. I felt that WA 1 + 2 were two of the best RPGs for the system, right up there with the PS1 Suikoden and Final Fantasy titles. The more recent entries have been good as well, but not great.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

I'd like to see a new game in the series for the PS3, with gameplay similar to the first 2 games. I enjoyed WA: Alter Code F and would like to see a similar remake of WA2.

as a whole usually good stories, but the action had been dull until recent incarnations, so i am optimistic for this iteration.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

i think that this is a good step. the RPG Market in Gerenal is oversaturated, but that is not the case on the PSP, and i think that if you were to make some of the franchises PSP only much like Nintendo has done with the DS with games Like Advance Wars, and Goldent Sun, and i think moving the Wild Arms games to the PSP, and keeping them there would bee a benefit for the sereis in General

Q1. A little disappointed. The market for tradiational japanese-style turn-based rpg's seems to be shrinking in favor of strategy and MMO's, neither of which I've been a huge fan of. Most of my favorite games are traditional turn-based games. With that said, the hex system seems reminiscent of Shining Force, can't fault it there.

Q2. Stands out with its Western inspired locations and story, but production values are a bit lower than other games in the genre. The games do have a certain amount of charm though, a throwback to old-school RPG's.

Q1. I don't mind, I like almost all rpgs in general as long as the story is good. FFT, Disgaea, and tactics ogre are some of my favorite games and they are strategic rps. There seems to be a revival of the genre with the resent port of disgaea, and new games Jeanne d'ark and Luminous Ark.

Q2. I remember liking the first and second one, they seemed a bit above average. Haven't played anything past some of 3 and thinking it was just ok.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Love it. Strategy RPGs are awesome in my opinion. The question is will it be as in depth as the staples?

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
Never played them until I had a PS2. After that I thought that they held their own pretty well against the "big names" of the JRPG/RPG. Having the different setting, style really helps

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
Possibly find new ways to reinvent the gameplay. Sometimes JRPGs/RPGs feel slightly stale because of the same repetetiveness.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Since from my understanding it's just a side-game, it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't want to see the main series turn into a strat-RPG tho.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

The basic world of Wild ARMs has always set it apart from other RPGs. They also seem to have more of a traditional slant that other current RPGs. However, the storytelling has always left something to be desired when compared to other series.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Better stories with a less "kiddie" slant. Wild ARMs 3 was an excellent game, and pointed to a bright future for the series. Unfortunately, imo 4 & 5 took steps backwards.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I love SRPGs, so I'm happy about it.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Well, I've only played Wild ARMS 2, but i would say it's above average compared to other RPGs I've played. Plus the story (for the most part) kept my attention, unlike a lot of RPGs I've played.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

If this one turns out well, then I'd like to see more SRPGs in the series. The main reason i didn't continue buying the Wild ARMS series was because I had played too many traditional RPGs to want another one.

Q1. I like SRPGs, so I don't mind it. Especially since it will probably help keep the series fresh.

Q2. I love its wild West theme. While the plots inevitably stray into science fiction, there's nothing like wondering the frontier to a lone cowboy's whistling.

1. Looks like a new style for this series, so I'll see how it goes. Having something different is always a good try.

3. Maybe an action RPG game with COOP mode.

Q1 - It's great every series derserves a chance to break into a different genre and go agaist its norm even a sports feelign would change how a normal RPG would feel.

Q2 - I do think less of this series since there has been about 5 of them if i recall and not much has changed.

Q3 - Just keep the good old RPG is good but redo with a new art style, characters, music and in a way do a 180 on what it is now to test new waters gamers love old things with a new twist look and New Super Mario Brothers.

Q1. I enjoy strategy RPGs, but I feel that an action rpg style would have fit the Wild ARMs series a bit more. Unfortunately, since it is on the portable system an action rpg would be too taxing on the system.

Q2. Although I enjoy the Wild ARMs series, I do rate it lower than the final fantasy and Tales series. I feel that it's about on par with many of the Atlus made RPGs.

Q3. I would like to see it go to a next-gen console and take the form of an action rpg.

Not sure. I'd really need to play the game first. SRPGs tend to be love or hate with me.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I always liked Wild Arms. I actually like WA4 the best in the series.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
A1. I don't really play srpgs, and I've never played the Wild Arms series before, but I suppose if made well, a srpg could be just as good as a regular rpg.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
A2. I've always liked the look of the Wild Arms games (actually more like the anime intros), but never really jumped into it before. The series must be doing something right while keeping it fresh to make it this far though. Wild Arms 5's hexagon system thing intrigued me.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
A2. Since I'm not much of a srpg player, I'd like to see more rpgs go for a more traditional route. I find that a lot of rpgs today are overly complicated for a semi-casual gamer like myself (ff12 license board? no thanks), and would like to see more go back to what made earlier games in the genre great.

Q1. I've been a fan of the Wild Arm series since the first game came out on the PSX, and I have to say that while I am sure it will be a fun game, I prefer the classic feeling the old games have always given me. I feel like too many of our RPGs are straying away from the gameplay styles that made so many of them beloved, aside from their great stories.

Q2. The series has always had a special place in my heart that is reserved for the best games. I'll admit though that while I do enjoy the series very much there are a few other monoliths such as Final Fantasy and Lunar that I like much more.

Q3. I think they need to get a battle system down to the T and stick with it. Almost every game of the series has had some major change in the battle system and it makes the transitions between the games very wide. I hope that theycontinue to make the great stories that have been, and I want to eventually see them gain as much popularity and attention as other titles in their genre.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Good choice for a portable game because SRPGs are good for pick up and play sessions.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
Western theme is refreshing and I like the fact that they mix in platforming elements. The games are usually solid but not spectacular.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

Retain the western theme but take some chances in gameplay and design to help the series stand out more.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I like it. When done well, it's nice to have a spinoff game based around a familiar environment. In this case, it's a hex-based SRPG, something I've wanted to find for a while. The team actions also look like a lot of fun.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I've always enjoyed the western anime theme. There's something about the mix of magic and the wild west that's so unique to everything else out there.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I love it! I've always been a big fan of turn-based strategy RPGs (Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite games ever) and the fact that this game is on the PSP (which is excellent for SRPGs) makes me very interested in this game.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

The Wild ARMs series has always appealled to a niche audience as opposed to the mass appeal of series such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, but that doesn't make it any less of a quality series. Truth be told, i've only played 2 previous Wild ARMs games, but I enjoyed them both thoroughly.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

It really depends on which platforms the series continues on. If continues on the PSP (or DS), then sticking to the Strategy RPG genre would be a good choice. If sequels were developed for the PS3 or 360, then i'd like to see a more action-oriented battle system with lots effects that take advantage of these consoles' power.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

1. I feel that it was about time for the Wild ARMs series to try a different approach. Just like with Suikoden and Final Fantasy, when I played both of their strategy games I ended up really liking it. So far, I'm looking forward to XF.

2. What I love about the Wild ARMs series is the whole western theme. It was different back then and it still manages to differentiate itself from its competitors from time to time w/this ongoing theme.

3. What I would like to see in the future would be a Wild ARMs game for the next gen systems which will probably come along in future. Also, maybe a spinoff or a sequel to one of the previous games.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I see Strategy RPG's as pretty hit or miss, so I'll have to try it out to see. I do feel like there's a pretty small amount of good SRPG's and that if anyone can handle it, it's the Wild Arms series, so I'm certainly intrigued, but not 100% sold yet.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I'd rank it pretty high. I think the hex system is one of the best around, and certainly better than recent RPG's like Blue Dragon.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Personally, I don't like SRPGs at all. The hex system was an interesting in-between, but I still preferred the classic RPG style.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
The idea of a post-war world is a great one, and it was carried out best in 3; 4 and 5 tried to do a little too much with the concept and diverted heavily from the wild west theme. They managed to be fun in their own right, though.

In response to question 1, I have just started playing strategy RPG games with the psp revamp of FF Tactics, and I must say that I prefer the turn based style. Changing wild arms to a strategy type RPG takes away from what the series is about, at least for me.

The setting and visuals in Wild arms are always nice to look at, the only other recent rpg coming close in artistic beauty maybe being Eternal Sonata. As far as gameplay mechanics I would say it is on the good side of average.

I really want to see Wild Arms make an appearance on the 360, albeit in the turn based style, none of this strategy stuff.

Q1. I don't mind much, so long as there are still traditional RPG entries in the series.

Q2. The western theme is the biggest thing that sets it apart, but the hex system is pretty cool too.

Q3. The characters and storyline seem a little too generic and predictable lately. I would also like to see Guardians return to being summonable by any member of the party, as they were in the first game.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

After seeing how much of an improvement WA5 was over WA4, I've become very interested and happy about the direction it's going. The story also looks to be more varied than the norm and the art style is great as it uses the excellent artist from WA5 (I think?)

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

It's a fairly standard RPG but the characters tend to be a bit more complex than a lot would think. It has an excellent wild west theme (with the exception of 4) that very few RPG's attempt to use and I really think it helps create a vivid world that few RPGs have.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the future?

I'd like to see them really embrace the wild west idea. WA3 was probably the closest to this and it's probably my favorite among the games. Aside from that, be it traditional RPG or class-based SRPG, I'm fine either way.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I don't mind it at all, I've been playing NIS Strategy RPGs since the first debuted on the PS2 and have been hooked ever since.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I enjoy the different plot/style/atmosphere of the series as opposed to traditional Final Fantasy-type RPGs, but there needs to have something added to the series to draw more attention from the average gamer.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

- I'm excited about this move personally, because I'm a big fan of Strategy RPGs. It's been a while since I've played through the first Wild ARMs game, but I like the genre and I'm excited about the possibilities. I think that it opens up some new possibilities for the Wild ARMs series!

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

- I'd like to say that the series is quite innovative, but truthfully many aspects of these games resemble other RPGs in the market (present and past). Innovation can be hard to come by these days, but I feel as though the series makes strides in terms of story and immersion compared to other more lackluster RPGs. I can forgive a game for being a little less innovative if it is really engrossing and has an excellent plot and character development.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

- Hmmm....that's a very interesting question. Personally, I feel that games (or content) in the form of "Episodes" could prove interesting for this series. I have always been fascinated with the potential of creating a story spanning multiple chapters (or characters) where future outcomes are influenced by your actions from earlier events. For example, I'd use the Shining Force III model as a reference, where a complete story was told over 3 different games, but each game focused on a specific main character (with supporting characters crossing paths moving forward). In Shining Force III, you were rewarded for making certain decisions, or saving certain characters from earlier disks (called scenarios) - to unlock different endings or possibilities.

Since the Wild ARMs series have obivous staying power - given the number of titles in the series, and a notable fan base by this time - I feel that something like this could be viably developed and supported. Even on the PS2 - which enjoys an incredible install base and where production costs could be kept down compared to next-gen platforms!

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I think its a good idea. Its nice to have SRPG versions of popular RPGs because it adds a bit of variety to the series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
They tend to have a bit more exploration then alot of RPGs. Also they are a good mix of wild west and rpg.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

Make a ps3 and xbox360 game for those who like high graphic games. Also make a entirely different Wii game that is a mix of hardcore gaming with a few casual modes on the side and maybe a small tie in reference to the other version. Plus make the wii game have a few special attacks that use the Wii remote as a light gun in battle.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Nice change of pace for the games. I could see this coming from the way the game used the Hex System in the last 2 games. I think its a great move for Wild arms almost following what Final Fantasy did. This should be a good way to get new players as SRPG like Disgaea have spawn new players for the GENRE.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
Wild arms in the beginning was better to me because of the 3 way start in the first game (3 different starting points each with BG on the Characters). Also the games made another weapon class that many RPG left out which were Arms/Guns, which they also made the most powerful with a bullet limit. I think its a great series that tries to take the "Wild West Story" instead of the "Princess Story" and has been trying to use a different system from Regular RPG (HEX System). The Recents games have been a dissappoint in difficulty but that is because of the use of the new system. As for the Story and things, I believe that its following in the same lines as FF which some stuff from the older games but makes a new story. So in that area its pretty much the same as most RPG. Its a nice game that a little more easy to get into than FF which made me beat almost all the games that had come out for it.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Try making the move to PS3 or Xbox 360. The games should be a mix of RPG and SRPG. For the game to become for unique I think they should try to make a Big hex grid like a mini SRPG map. This would be more of a Fast SRPG. This should be backed with the regular 7 grid for Random battles. I would call this an expanded Hex system.

Dead of Knight
03-08-2008, 02:23 AM
1. I'm kind of tired of SRPGs, partially because they tend to require more strategy and commitment than regular RPGs, something I just can't do these days as a busy student about to enter the workforce. So I don't really like that it's an SRPG.

2. 1, 2, 3, and Alter Code F were all great RPGs. 4 was absolutely abysmal and I took it as pretty much a sick joke by the developers. I've avoided picking up 5 since it looks a lot like 4, though I hear it is an improvement. I'll probably pick up 5 when it drops to $20.

3. PLEASE throw out the Hex system, for the love of Jesus! Go back to what made the first three so great- the inventive puzzles, the different tools for each character, the fairly straightforward but enjoyable storyline, the traditional yet fun battle system, and memorable characters. If the series goes back to its roots, I have faith that the developers will be able to create a truly great WA game worthy to sit alongside the first three in the series.

1.) I love SRPG games, so it has renewed my interest in the series.

2.) I was really impressed with the art style in 3. The cel-shading and the western setting really made it stand out.

3.) I would like them to stick with the traditional RPG route and make the battle system a little deeper.

Q1. It's crazy how many strategy RPGs there are on PSP, but the genre is very well-suited to the system, and Wild Arms XF honestly looks like it has what it takes to stand out. I love the colorful graphics, and the gameplay systems look intriguing.

Q2. Did you just say "RPG games"? You do know that would be like saying "Role-playing Game games," right?

The Wild Arms series originally stood out because it was one of the few RPGs available on the poorly supported original Playstation, but it remained a fan favorite because of its unique setting and great music. It seems like XF delivers on those aspects for sure.

Q3. I like what Media Vision has been doing, taking Wild Arms in different directions by adding platforming elements, tactical elements, and now doing a full-out tactical RPG on the PSP. A lot of companies seem satisfied just to port PS1 or PS2 games to the PSP, so it's great that Media Vision did something new, and I certainly don't begrudge them. Please keep the unique wild west setting of Wild Arms!

Also, it would be nice to see the price point at $29.99 for portable systems. Just because PS3 and Xbox 360 games seemingly have to be overpriced to create a profit margin due to the hardware doesn't mean portable game prices have to inflate as well.

I'm excited to try Wild Arms XF. It would be great to win a copy!

1.) I did enjoy the series being a normal RPG, but I am a huge fan of sRPG so I can always hope for the best.
2.) I've always enjoyed that Wild Arms setting has steered away from the conventional pure fantasy environments, since those are a dime a dozen.
3.) I would like the series to have a more hand drawn look to it since I do get quite annoyed when 3d models are used for every game even when its not necessary.

not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I just got a pm from gamequest sayin I won. Good stuff :D This makes what...I think the 2nd or 3rd contest I've ever won in my life lol. Good luck to the rest of you. I think I saw somebody else say that he won too. I wonder how many winners they're going to choose?

1. I like strategy games so I don't mind Wild Arms dipping into the genre.

2. For me, Wild Arms is a pretty mediocre series compared to other RPGs. I thought the first 2 were great but it went downhill after that until recently.

3. I'd like to see Wild Arms do something new and unexpected for at least one game. I feel that the JRPG genre is getting stale. I don't know what I want to see but I hope I get suprised (in a good way).

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I think it will be a good way for me to enter the series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
I've neveer played them before but this one has me excited.
Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

Any genre it fits in while still being good quality.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Kinda bummed. I would have loved to either see an action RPG or a straight up sequel in the vein of old school WAs (ie, WA1)

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I enjoyed the first one the most I think. They are a great series, but I think they should concentrate on what they know best (mixing RPG with platforming) rather than experimenting.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Like I said in 1, I wouldn't mind an action RPG. Based on what the series has done in the past, I could easily see a Wild Arms with a top down action RPG in the vein of Ys.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I've always liked strategy RPGs ever since Final Fantasy Tactics. I suppose if Final Fantasy can make a game from turn based to strategy and still be successful, then I suppose Wild Arms can do the same.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
The theme around Wild Arms is different compared to the others. Many RPGs like to aim for somewhat of a medieval theme or futuristic type RPGs.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
I'd like Wild Arms to go back to its old 2d style. It doesn't have to go completely back to the other original Wild Arms, but 2d drawn RPGs have always been my favorite.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
Well, it's not like this hasn't been done to other series before and I personally haven't been let down much this kind of massive game mechanic switch. I'm a big SRPG fan and I'm VERY interested in getting my hands on this.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
Aside from Dragon Quarter, which was a valiant effort but a genuinely bad game in my own opinion, Wild ARMs stands out as one of my favorite game series of all-time. I've always loved the focus on the "ARMs" weapons and the characters tend to be quite awesome, even if a bit cliche at times.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future? I would be interested in seeing both the standard JRPG style and another try at Dragon Quarter. Dragon Quarter could've been good with some serious alterations, but a few game-breaking things just totally ruined a potentially good experience. I think that, knowing these things, the team could easily make a much better game the second time around.

And just for the sake of saying so, I don't care what anyone else says, Wild ARMs 4, 5 and Alter Code F ARE good games. Generic or not, the only one in the series that I thought sucked was Wild ARMs 3 and even that's a bit better than some other major series failures, although most people wont say so because they'll just base their entire opinion of the game on a review or 2 they read. Anyway, I bet this game rocks hard. Sorry for ranting, but it's 7AM and I haven't been to bed. G'night CAGs!

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Well... I've NEVER played a Wild Arms game. I really wanted to but nothing about them made me have to play them when I had the chance. Always putting it off. But this one, I want to play right away mainly because it is a SRPG. If that is a good thing or not, I'm not sure since I'm going to be introduced to the series here first.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

"Niche" is a word I usually see applied to it. Maybe that is why I never tried them. I'm not a big RPG fan so words like that scare me off when I've only played the "more popular" series out there.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

They have already put it on the PSP which is what I wanted, so I'm not sure.

Q1. I love SRPGs more than RPGs (no random battles being the first and foremost difference). This has increased my interest in the series, however I am intrigued by No 5 as well. It seems really promising. I haven't had a chance to play it yet though.

Q2. I like the western atmosphere and unique take on puzzle solving through tools (since I have only played 3)

Q3. Having both SRPG and RPG would be awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing an SRPG on S3 ;)

Q1. Kind of interested and a bit worried especially since it's going to be on a mobile console. I recently purchased a PSP for games on the go.

Q2. Don't know too much about the series but, I remember the one way back on PS1 having decent reviews. This would be my first exposure to it (of course if I won). :P

Q3. Maybe something that highlighted online play? I know it's difficult to implement into RPGs but, downloadable content would be sweet as well.

Q1. Kinda bummed that it went to strategy RPG, but id be more willing to try a strat rpg again a poratable format, especially when i can put battles into suspend mode.

Q2. Wild Arms is an Interesting twist on most rpgs in that instead of High fantasy environments you get somthing that not a whole lot of games utilize, that is the wild west esque theme. Also they do try to change the traditional combat with the Hex system which was pretty fun in Wild Arms 5. Im interested to see how it will translate in a strat rpg

Q3. I just want it to get that next gen make over. It doesnt really need anything in the way of game play. Either you love it or hate it.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

wel, since it's an off-shoot of the series, and not an official sequel, I'm actually very OK with it and actually think it's an interesting idea. Cautiously optimistic!

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

it's always been a mid-line series for me. I've liked the past games, but they've never been 'must have' titles for me personally.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

i would LOVE the Wild Arms series to go ARPG, in the same ilk as the Tales of Destiny series. <3 ARPGs.

Q2. Interesting. The setting and wild west theme with magic just always set it apart from other series for me.

I would say that the Wild Arms series is definitley one my favorite series, mainly because it's got such a different setting.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
After playing WA4 and WA5's fun, addictive battle system, I have to say that I'm really looking forward to seeing how Media Vision's take on a Strategy RPG turns out.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
First four games settings were really what set them apart from other RPGs for me. The setting just brought in elements (characters/music/story) that you normally wouldn't see in JRPGs.

Unlike the first 4, what really set WA4 and WA5 apart from most RPGs was the battle system and platforming elements (a lot more in WA4 than WA5).

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?
Really not sure on this one since I would need to play XF to see how that went.
However, I really would like to see some more focus on bringing back the puzzle elements that the first 4 games in the series had.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I think its a cool idea. I love SRPGs and it makes sense to transfer the hexes over.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

I love it. It's just different enough to hold my interest. 5 was great; the story was a little predicable, but it was told from a little different perspective, and I love that subtle innovation.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

I'd like to see MORE. I like that they are branching out into an SRPG, and I might even like to see an MMO in the future. As long as WA6 makes it to the PS3 in the states, I'll be happy.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
The Hex system seems to make it so it's an isometric tactics game where you can actually attack diagonally, so sign me up!

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?
They've always been rather 'Traditional' to me. Booting up Wild Arms 3 for the PS2 was an interesting experience, finding out it wasn't voice acted and they had a filter on the game to make it look handdrawn.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

I hope they continue the series with tactic games as much as they don't, really. Game looks great, but there's so many isometric FFT esque games in my eyes, it's a bit much.

Q1. Since the gameplay in traditional JRPGs really boils down to extremely simplistic, turn-based strategy, it's actually very refreshing to see these types of RPGs go the route of the strategy RPG. Adding movement and more character class/inventory management requires the player to be more involved with their party and have to think about the heightened complexity of the gameplay mechanics. Generally, adding complexity can make an RPG more interesting for a longer period of time.

Q2. Gameplay-wise, they don't really differentiate between other JRPGs. They do have a somewhat unique style and setting.

Q3. Continue to add complexity in this manner or change the battle system to make it unique, compared to other JRPGs. RPGs that are too similar to others in the same genre get lost in hype of other established IPs, which this game has suffered from in the North American market. Also, the game needs its pacing tweaked, as the initial games in the series were very slow.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?
I think it will be a welcome change to make the games worth playing again.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

The first one was awesome. Between it, Suikoden, and FFVII it made my playstation purchase worth it. The problem started with the rest of the games where they became average.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the

I think this one looks great. If it plays as good as it looks, I think this would be a refreshing direction, especially if they can improve it in sequels.

1) I love strategy rpgs in the vein of FFT. Some of the job classes in XF sound intriguing. I just hope that the plot stands up well, because I think that can make or break a strategy rpg.

2) I really like the Wild Arms series-it and Suikoden were my first Playstation purchases and I got hooked. I like the Wild West themes, and I like the characters, especially in the newer games.

3) I don't think it needs to go in a different direction, just more of the same is fine with me. Maybe something on the DS or Wii to incorporate some different styles of gameplay.

Q1) I love strategy RPGs on Hand helds, so I think its awesome that the PSP Wild Arms is a startegy RPG. Hand helds work well with turn based games so if you want Wild Arms on the road, slow pace can be good.

Q2) Well Wild Arms looks to be more of a Japaneese RPG than, say, Mass Effect or World of Warcraft. But then again, you can't play WoW on your PSP, yet,....

Q3) A name like Wild ARMS just begs to be a Music/Rythm game. Weather its playing the drums or flailing your ARMS as dancing and Wild ARMS RockPG would rock.

1. This experiment is similar to that of Suikoden series could prove more entertaining.
2. The wild west theme is quite unique and enables the utilization of a similarly themed soundtrack.
3. I would prefer a return to the turn-based standard RPG, with a possible expansion of the Hex Based fighting system.

1. The series has been going downhill after the first game so maybe change is a good thing but at the same time, it's hard to pull off a good SRPG.
2. It's nice to have a series that doesn't take place in medieval times or too overly politcal.
3. I wish the series would go back to it's roots rather than make so many little changes that really ruin the franchise. I'd love to see it use HD 2D graphics go back to the more simple, more traditional gameplay.

1) Especially with the transition to a portable platform, I think the switch from tradition to strategy RPG is a great move for the Wild Arms series. Opting for a hex grid system is an even better move.

2) The Wild Arms games have always tried to carve a niche out for themselves in the content vacuum of larger ticket titles. This space has always had god company in the Breath of Fire series, the Xenosaga games, and a slew of N1 games and one-shot timesinks.

3) I think the portable machines, both the PSP and the DS, are a perfect fit for the Wild Arms series. I'd love to see more iterations in the SRPG genre or even parallel series of tradition RPGs. What ever the publishers do, keep the series away from real-time RPG battles and Action RPGs.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

I think it's a welcome change to move to S-RPG. The Final Fantasy Tactics series has been my favorite to date and paved the way for additional tie-ins with future installments of the traditional turn-based RPG series.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Honestly, it's a little sub-standard compared to some of the other series being released with more regularity. The western theme has fantastic potential but is often wasted by the confines of anime-based stories.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

There are a few RPG sub-genres this franchise could delve into. The 'alchemy' or build-your-own systems out there (Secret of Evermore, Dark Cloud, etc.) could be great using the whole western theme. An action RPG could do well with the Wild ARMs story being that it's action based anyway and there are limitless possibilities when it comes to integrating timed pressed (a la the Final Fantasy VIII Gunblade system). Lastly, serialized released could do well too. Something via PSN (or XBLA) where you get a 10-20 hour installment for $10 that has ongoing stories and characters could be quite successful. Capcom did this in Japan on the Dreamcast and it was tremendously popular.

1. It's a nice change of pace, but I hope it's not out of necessity or a trend like other strategy RPGS. *cough* Mana series *cough*

2. Average, yet still unique. The anime-western theme will always set it apart from other RPGs.

3. Somewhere between Shadow Hearts and the Tales Of... series. I would like a more active-time battle mixed in with freedom to move (e.g. Eternal Sonata, Valkyrie Profile 2).

Q1:
Welcome the change. I really enjoy SRPG's so this is something to breathe new life in a sagging franchise.

Q2:
Honestly very lacking. That's why the change-up is nice. Graphics, story, gameplay I felt have all been sub-par. Only Wild Arms game I really enjoyed was the 1st one. Back then when there was not a lot to choose from it seemed like and probably was a good game. However most of the others have just been lacking.

Q3:
If this SRPG works out then keep with it. If not it's going to need to be scrapped for a new franchise or totally re-invented. It really needs the works. Better graphics, story, and gameplay.

Q1. Since didn't play the first Wild Arms games, I'm fine with it.

Q2. The setting is what interested me the most, and that's what made me take notice of it. The Western setting, even a fantastical steampunk anime version of the Old West, hasn't been done well in many games.

Q3. I'd like to see a Wild Arms game go more mature, say maybe with American writers who could set the game in a more old west feel. Much like how past western movies were pretty immature in how they handled characters, fast forward to our time where Unforgiven was the swan song for Old West movies with a very mature theme.

Q1. How do you feel about the latest Wild ARMs game being a Strategy RPG?

Having been a fan of the Wild Arms series from the very first one on the PS1, it's always been a little difficult to embrace the various different game play mechanics that were introduced in the sequels since then.

I remember reading about the the Hex-Grid combat system in Wild Arms 4 on various previews. I was quite skeptical of how it would fit with the series. However, when I finally got my hands on it, I found the combat engine to be quite refreshing. The Hex-Grid combined elements of strategy while keeping a quick pace of game play made it a welcome change to the fullest.

Now with the transition to the series being a strategy RPG, I feel the same. A bit skeptical but I'm hoping for the best.

Q2. How would you compare the Wild ARMs series to other RPG games?

Wild Arms as a series has elements of the "Wild West" rooted in the game. From the acoustic guitar solos coupled with whistling to the desert stretching out in the land inhabited by gunslinging youths, the game holds a certain root in the "Western" and it's in that the game can be singled out among the many different RPG series.

Q3. What direction would you like to see the Wild ARMs series take in the
future?

Always putting a strong emphasis on memorable characters and involving narrative, I would like the series to continue to hold true to the roots of the "Western" while branching out into various innovative and intuitive game play mechanics.
