Well i saw the best movie based of a game thread... figured it would be interesting to go the other way .

My vote goes for Golden eye being the best game based on a movie.

Spiderman was pretty good also.

I would definately have to agree with Goldeneye. I think I have played that game more then any other game.... ever (well Mario 1 might be close since that was the only game I had for awhile).

What's next, the best game based off of a movie based off of a game? If so, my vote is for Street Fighter: the Movie: the Game.

But on topic, I'd have to say Chronicles of Riddick.

Chronicles of Riddick and Star Wars: KOTOR turned out fairly well given that they were both based on film licenses.

I can't think of any other games that come to mind in that category

Super Mario Bros 3 - it was based off that game in the movie the Wizard. The game version rules.

Or in reality, Goldeneye

I have to agree with everyone who said GoldenEye. I spent hours on that game blasting my friends away on multiplayer. That game will always be a classic.

Just ask yourself, would this have been a hit without any tie-in to other media? That helps narrow the field quite a lot. Games like Goldeneye may have gotten off to a slower start but would have still been huge without any name familiarity.

I didn't even know KotOR was based on one of the movies. Is it the Star Wars movie that is coming out later?

I think Riddick is pretty good.

I don't think I ever had a chance to play that much of Goldeneye.

I also never watched any of TLotR movies and haven't played the games.

Goldeneye by a mile... here's one no one has mentioned so far, and that is the Terminator 2 arcade came that was made many years ago. It was a very good movie based game for it's time.

Just kidding- KOTOR.

Finding Nemo would probably get my pick. If you have a kid that loves the Nemo movie I don't see how they couldn't love this game. Follows the movie pretty much step for step letting you live out the major events.

Goldeneye is a great game, but is it really based on the movie other than sharing the same name? (I honestly can't really remember the movie well enough to know.)

KOTOR is based off a license, not a movie. And Goldeneye is VERY loosely based on the movie.

Actually, it closely follows the movie more than most games. Every game based on a movie pads out the adventure because staying strict to the film would result in too short a game. Most of the stages in Goldeneye appeared in some form in the film.

Chronicles of riddick deffinitely shines in this area, I know too many people the would just disregard the game Because of its tie-in with the movie. BUt the game it self is very solid

I definitely like Rocky since it has 5 movies behind and pretty good gameplay behind. It's the second best boxing game of this generation.

I also think the Rogue Squadron and Starfight series as they let you take control of the most exciting parts of the SW series, the space flight scenes.

I'd say Spiderman 2

The two EA Lord of the Rings games are good, and the upcoming ones look even better.
Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best games Ive ever played.
And Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee is great for fans of Godzilla and other kaiju.

GoldenEye 007 still remains as the best game based upon the movie, because it did two things right : remain faithful to the source material and have great gameplay.

I've heard that the latest LOTR game and Spiderman 2 are good, but I haven't played them yet.

Also, The World Is Not Enough for the N64 was a pretty good game adaptation of the movie. It was pretty similar to GoldenEye, but did miss a few things to keep it from being great. It's was also much better than the very short PS1 version.

But as to what is the best, it's GoldenEye.

I'll go with Street Fighter:The Movie. It was impressive in that it was a game based on a movie about a game.
An underated movie license game was Super Star Wars (snes)and its sequels. They totally butchered the Star Wars source material , but at the time they were fun platformers. Still fun to think that in between scenes of the movie Luke had to go and destroy a sandcrawler and slaughter all of the jawas inside to save r2d2.
