The online patch is out. Everybody get it. It adds pickup match, the ability to name your room, only allowing people with the same flag as you to enter your room, and warning signals when your turn is up among other things.

I hope Tekken 6 has way better net code. The connection I had with you on the games against each of us was damn good lag free, but that's probably because we're both in south florida.

Namco has to fix the lag, I've lost too many matches due to lag... probably won one or two because of it too. But when you start getting lag, it just kills your spirit for playing the game. But it was good to finally get some matches in.

I'm also thinking about just turning off mics since it lags up larger rooms due to the poor netcode and not a whole lot of CAGs use the mics anyways. It won't help the west coast to east coast matches, but it'll definitely help out on the matches with people near each other. We can just use this thread to chat about whatever.

GGs all around. I had a blast. That lag was getting pretty intense though. That last Mokujin match with pip was insane. It was like the Matrix, with all the delays and pauses. :)

Lag was fine for a while with everybody, but near the end it just got bad. It might just be the magic of Tekken Lag Tournament's netcode.

Yeah, the Moku matches were annoying I kept getting multiple inputs from single inputs. It was like someone rigged my stick to be in drunk mode.

I was using my 6Axis, and it cut out once during a match, I can't remember against who. That sucks pretty bad. I'd use my stick, but I'm not at home and it's a big ass stick. I'mma throw a handle on it soon, then it will be road ready.

It was pretty amusing to have only a little lag with 4 people playing, then when it was just pip and me, the whole shithouse went up in flames. ;)

Sticks are the only way to go with Tekken. Proper movement is difficult to do on pad.

I honestly think something was going on with the netcode, because our earlier matches were fine lag wise.

Yeah, the netcode was definitely getting backed up or something. And yes, sticks are the way to go. Although I don't mind using the pad. I've been using it since the first Tekken.

It's been around 10 years since I switched over to sticks. :lol: you'd see some retardedly slow back dash cancelling, wavedashing, Hayashida stepping, etc. with lots of jumping interspersed, If I was using a pad. There'd definitely not be any electrics either. It'd all be normal wgf. Haha, I probably actually wouldn't get a crouch dash out half the time.

I just got a PS3 last night and downloaded Tekken 5. I honestly haven't touched a Tekken game since 3. I never cared for Tag or 4, but messed around with 5 for a hour on PS2.

Can anyone or MarkMan hook me up with some tips with King. He's always been one of my favorites and I'm rusty as hell or they changed a lot on him.

I will probably get the online update soon, after I get some time in on it.

Welcome to the Tekken world ;)

King is one of my main characters. I've been using him seriously since Tekken 3. The problem with him and playing online is that his best juggles become impossible to do with lag ;(

But he still has tons of options. Now he has some of the best throws in the game (but I'm not a fan of throwing online, esp with lag, it annoys me because even if you react to it, you can't break it due to lag)...

With King, I would suggest poking with his 1,2 as it is 9 frames in speed and has good priority. He also has among the strongest jabs in the game. He has a safe low in d/f+4 and another good low is the generic d+4. d/b+3 is good too but doesn't track too well.

Throw out his b+1 from mid/close range as if you land it on CH (counter hit) it will grant you a free juggle. He has strong mids in d/f+1,2 and f+3:1+2. MAKE sure you learn the timing for f+3:1+2 just frame as it is a safe mid that can lead to 35% to 50% damage depending on how your opponent gets up.

I havent played tekken against people since Tekken Tag, so all i know is, Lilis air juggle seems cheap to me lol, overall tho, very fun, im guessing you guys dont see a lot of Bruce players online. Im playing exactly how i played in tekken tag lol.

Phew, them was some good matches, and I learned that I really don't know how to play Tekken. For Hankmecrankme/VikingLongwood, I'm sure it felt good to pummel me in this game after the devastation I dished out back when VF5 was the new hotness :lol:.

Yeah, I hate it when the lag starts creeping in. You can have a few nice matches, then the lag comes in and shits all over the game.

I think DRO's netcode hates everyone's connection. I've only had consistently solid connections with people in my own timezone.

I think I'll be going to the Pacific Northwest Majors on saturday for Tekken, but I think its one of the first ones so I should make it. Also, it looks like only one other person is registered for it haha.


Edit: Oh wait, I just read their forums and apparently there's supposed to be like 30 people showing up just for Tekken. Ooooh man that means first place will be up for a couple hundred bucks. Better practice -_-
