View Full Version : How long before an unresponded to claim is resolved? (past seller's deadline)...

I won an auction, the items never got here, and the seller basically was giving me the run around. I kept asking for the tracking information, and they would not give it to me. All they would say is that, "It says it was delivered. I will look into it."

Thus, I opened a dispute. They never responded to it. Then, I escalated it to a claim. They never responded to that, either, and the deadline was yesterday (March 3). I figured it would be an automatic thing, considering they simply never gave a response. It is still an open claim, though.

So, how long before the claim will be closed?

I did one in January. I escalated on Jan 9 and finally got a refund on Jan 22. No response from the seller.

A bit of a tangent but it took eBay even longer to close the Non Paying Buyer dispute that seller opened on me after PayPal's refund.

The thing that really sucks on these is if Paypal cannot recover the full cost from the seller then Paypal charges you $25 when you file one of these as a buyer. I had to do one on a $50 purchase and I only got $25 back.

The last dispute that I did, had a deadline (forget the date), but anyway, it didn't end on the deadline because of an error on paypal's end.

I guess because of the timing of when they sent the last email to the seller, it gave the seller an extra day or two to respond to the claim. Needless to say I was pissed, but even with the extra time, the seller never responded and I got my money back

I don't remember seeing a deadline for the seller on my dispute? I'm sure the seller was given a deadline by PayPal (which I thought would have been 7 days) but as far as I could tell it was not visible to me. Where did you see it?

Under the dispute/claim details, it says something like, "The seller's deadline for responding to this claim is (date). If the seller does not respond, the claim will be decided in your favor."

Damn, I guess I'm an idiot then.

Update: The case was closed today, with it obviously going in my favor, seeing as the seller never responded. They were able to get the funds out of their account, so I didn't have to pay any fees. Good show.
