I don't know what's suggested but on my second gameshare, I noticed you could make up any username, still log-in and download the game being shared. The next time I gameshare I will definitely try using my main account.

Gameshare Cautionary Tale

I setup a SF2THD share with a newly created account with 11 alpha-numeric-capitalized character password.

So far, langdon_alger, lobitoh, tink and I have downloaded street fighter share. When Amerijapoxicano went to download his share, he tells me that it is already on five ps3's. so someone must have downloaded an extra share on another ps3 or gave it his/her friend.

I responded by PMing the three (langdon_alger, lobitoh, tink) with:

I don't care who did it. But whoever did, please delete the game off the extra ps3 so that everyoone including Amerijapoxicano gets what they paid for. He got screwed and it sucks. Please do this within 24 hours (Sunday 11/30/08 8 pm pst). Otherwise, ill post this in the GS thread because I don't know who did it.

Summary: Amerijapoxicano got screwed out his share. Either langdon_alger, lobitoh, tink must be the culprit. Honestly, I don’t know who and probably won’t. Some have been more responsive to PMs than others. And everyone involved has positive iTrader records.


Later on, Amerijapoxicano confirmed that my pixeljunkeden shares are stolen also. Because only myself and some else had downloaded the shares. I mean c’mon you can’t pay a fucking dollar for eden?

So… the deadline came and went. Amerijapoxicano still couldn’t download SF. would I stop GSing? Absolutely not. Would I recommend not trading with anyone involved? No.

From what I read, Blast Factor has 25 trophies. 15 in the base game, 10 more spread out on both expansions. Not sure the amount for each expansion though

I figured it would only allow one PSN ID log on at a time. What if 2 were logged in at once and both jumped into a game or received an IM, that would really screw with things. I would like to test that sometime.

But even so the CC would only be entered for a few seconds at most. Another route would be to use a virtual CC from like paypal or something, were you load it up with exact amount and then it wont matter, but I guess that depends on how hard they ream you on the fees.

I've been in a "long-term" group since July. It has gone very smoothly as far as payment arrangements go. We do the log on and give $ with your own credit card to the group account method. I think we've bought around 12 or so games so far. When we set up the group we asked for a year commitment. Given some of the stories I've heard about groups gone wrong, I think I've been very fortunate to end up, by chance, on a solid group.

I can't think of a singe game that I was really opposed to getting (although I didn't vote for everything) and everything I've wanted so far we picked up.

The problem has really been finding time to play most of those games. Sure we got The Last Guy for $1 each, but how much time can I really commit to it when I have great disc-based games (RB2, MGS4, etc.) and even other PSN games (Burnout, Wipeout) that I would rather play.

Don't get me wrong, I voted for most of those games we bought. But do I really have time to play them all? Not really. To maximize the value of the gamesharing, you really have to show restraint in what the team buys. And that is hard to do when the excitement of the discounts and buying takes over.

So my message is, if you join a group you know you're going to buy stuff, but you don't necessarily "pay for something you don't really want a lot of times." You probably end up buying a lot of stuff that sounded like a good idea at the time and you wanted, you just won't have time to play them all.

There are many ways to do it, but there seem to be a few primary ones. I'm in a set group where the five of us contribute to one account and then vote on PSN releases as they come out. If at least three of the 5 of us vote yes on a title, we get it. In this situation you could end up with a game you don't really want. On the other hand, you don't have to go through the hassle of setting up a new group each time you want a single title.

The other way that I've seen most often is one person will buy a title and then recruit others to contribute to its purchase or reimburse the original purchaser. Payment tends to come through via PayPal. In this case you get only the titles you really want although it is a bit of work to set this up each time.

That's a pretty high level view, but a good overview.

As I pointed out in other posts, the problem in the set group really hasn't been getting games I'm not interested in. The challenge is with 5 committed participants, it is really easy to collect a lot of titles in a short amount of time and you really don't have time to play them all no matter how good they are. On the other hand (:)) since I lucked out and got in a solid, trustworthy group I don't have to worry about getting scammed or having my share password sent around to non-payers.

I'm not the person you're talking about, but paypal fees take that $.40 extra. To get $15 out of a 5 person purchase, each person needs to pay $3.40. There's a paypal calculator out there you can use to see for yourself.

It says it right there on the paypal calc website (which you sent me the link to) That in order to receive $3 after fees you would need to receive $3.40. Also, this calculation of 5 x $3.00 were using does not bother to include the tax for buying the game which I gladly covered and didn't even bother to mention to any of the other members.
