if you use the Back-up/restore feature you wont even need to do redownload them. I changed mine out a few months ago and after the restore everything worked fine.

Exactly. I'm lucky in one way. Only 2 people paid, and it was one of them only 2 that knew the info. So it has to be one or the other. I assume I will have to give them both there money back on paypal since it went wrong. The one I had before went so well, and I figured it wouldn't.

It's per account. If you, say shared Pain with 4 people, anything in the future you buy on that account is locked out from anyone else but those 4 people and yourself.

There we go... and yes, LTGs are the way to go- especially if everyone has the same tastes in games.

Unfortunately, _Sin_ you'll need to erase the user jman created to "give back" the share to him.

jman: you can re-coup some of the cost of the "new" game you bought by approaching the people from the "old" share and asking if they want in on it... either way they have access to it and can d/l it and play it (even if they don't pitch in $ for it). You might have to take the $10 on the chin... :(

ALSO REMEMBER: You can have a max of 16 users on your PS3, and if you delete an "old" user you don't have rights to the game that user downloaded.

Well now that the drama has settled ;)

Long term DLC group mainly after trophy related add-on content looking for 1 more member.

Each person has put $10 in so far so asking for $10 buy in to keep it equal. We do majority votes, already bought Mirror's Edge Time Trials, Prince of Persia Epilogue and Resistance 2 Aftermath map pack.

This wont by a power buying group since it's mainly for DLC, no RB/GH stuff or LBP costumes. Everyone in is already in separate main share groups so although we might buy a full game every now and then it wont be often.

I believe that person could deactivate their system from the account, but then they would lose everything they invested. If they didn't want to do that you'd just have to start a second account for the group and go from there.

The correct way to deactivate a system is to log onto the account with the system you want taken off, go to system management and deactivate. That will free up the slot immediately and the games linked to that account will not work on that system anymore.

I've done that a few times when switching around activations. Pretty straight forward.

SOCOM I believe is like Warhawk and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue in that you can only play on 1 system per 24 hour period.

Question:

I have a great offer to buy a backwards compatible 60GB PS3 & if I grab it I'll be selling my 40GB but keeping the 250GB drive I have in it with all my games/saves on.

Now here's where I need help. I'm in a Rock Band DLC sharing group with 4 other people & am wondering if putting my current 250GB drive in the new PS3 would make the PSN think that a 6th console is trying to download the content or not. If that's the case I will just pass on the 60GB PS3 unless there's a way around it.

Can anyone tell me 100% for sure one way or another? Can I just simply deactivate myself from the group while logged in with the old PS3, put the old drive into the new one, and re-activate myself with the group? If someone can guarentee that will work, will I also have to redownload everything again? We're talking like 10+ gigs of Rock Band DLC, lol. If I have to I will, but I wouldn't look forward to it.

You mean do a backup onto a different drive, put the old drive in the new ps3, format, then do a restore? As far as I know, there is no way to actually do a transfer. A PC cannot read a PS3 formatted drive.

Your right, If you want to replace your system with the 60G it would be best to do a system back up, then deactivate your old PS3 from all accounts. Then pop the 250g drive into the 60g unit, format and restore. Your files will be there now so no need to redownload but they wont work just yet.

Now log onto each account and start a download from the download list, it will activate your new system and you can cancel the download since you don't need to download everything again, you might need to repeat that with everything in the list....

Now, none of the song I bought from them is working. When I try to play it I get a message like:

If I was one of the first 5 to share the content, and it has worked in the past, why wouldn't it work now? I haven't changed my harddrive or anything like that.

You will be able to share the content of Player 2 with 4 other people.

Each account can be activated on 5 different PS3's. So when you create Player 2 that account will be activated on your PS3, and you will be able to use the content bought using Player 2 on any account you have on your PS3, without it being considered a share. You can still activate Player 2 on another 4 PS3's, AKA share with another 4 people.

Basically, my idea is for the group can form a list by having the members make wish lists , do this every so many months. Sure, there will be a time a member wants a game someone may already have but vote yes for that game that person will return the favor when its the other way around, sort of "Quid pro quo" (to quote, Dr. Hannibal Lecter 1991) Plus, if we limit it to say 2 games per time thats only $4 each (if a $9.99 game) It will help those who have those 1 game accounts

Thanks for the response, but I don't see it much harder than any other group. Add in the fact I've already gotten a share group started once and it's still up and going. The key is for any type of group to communicate well and work as a team.

I think if you were to factor in 5 peoples personal games, plus games aquired through their gameshare, PLUS 3 month wait until GS group 2 meets up- you'd find out that there were no games of mutual interest.

A few months ago when we started our gameshare group, we made a spreadsheet of all PSN titles, and checked off everything that we already owned. It ended up that anything worth buying was already purchased by at least 2 people in the group.

If you wanted to do some sort of "proof of concept", i'd be more than happy to sit in.

if your talking to me, I'm not really interested in getting that specific in the facts.
But there are a few things to consider:
1. 2 out of 5 is not a majority
2. Agreeing to a game you have but others don't sets up a "quib pro qou" agreement
3. Considering the typical cost to each member is $2 on a $10 game, the benefit to have a large number of games in one account to me personally is worth a duplicate purchase.

I'm not debating the issue though its all up to the gamer ;)

Basically, my idea is for the group can form a list by having the members make wish lists , do this every so many months. Sure, there will be a time a member wants a game someone may already have but vote yes for that game that person will return the favor when its the other way around, sort of "Quid pro quo" (to quote, Dr. Hannibal Lecter 1991) Plus, if we limit it to say 2 games per time thats only $4 each (if a $9.99 game) It will help those who have those 1 game accounts

I actually would be more than happy to join, except for the fact that there's a pretty good chance that the group would never get any of the big name titles due to the fact that the other groups would more than likely already have them. I'm seriously not trying to persuade you from creating your own group, but I just think a lot of people already in groups wouldn't be that interested...where people that aren't would be - with the exception of what I already stated... there's no incentive to join something that will more than likely not get any of the big name games.

Which is why I suggested you fill one of the 3 remaining spots in my group. There's a pretty good number of titles I'd like to have that I don't already have which I'll list here: 1942, Age of Booty, Brain Challenge, Cuboid, Elefunk, Flow, Geon, Go! Also, i have a question to clarify about gamesharing because this sounds too good to be true (i'm a new ps3 owner)
So if i join a shared account (sharing with 4 other ps3's), i still can make another account for the purpose of sharing with 5 more people and so on and so on? I.e. lots of shared accounts = LOTS of games on my ps3 that i paid 1/5 for?

Also, if someone devious changes the password on the gameshare account, preventing the others from logging in with it. Does it matter, given the account is still on your system? (with the exception of the risk of not being able to re-download games if you lose them)

Yeah, gamesharing is awesome. All psn downloads are tied to a psn account, and all psn accounts can only be activated at once in five playstation systems. If you join a shared account and that account has already been activated in five systems, then no other system will be able to activate that account and use the content. I believe you can have up to 16 user slots in a ps3 and every user can have a different psn account tied to it. In theory, you could have up to sixteen shares; however, I suggest you find a long-term group. The more accounts you have going on, the harder it will be to associate what is tied with what down the road. (Although you could just look it up)

If someone devious changes the password on the gameshare account (no self-respecting cag would do that to you, unless it is their own psn account they are sharing), the only consequence that action would carry is your inability to redownload the content. As long as you do not delete the user tied to that psn account, the content should still be available

PS: It appears you are European, I just wanted you to be aware that the American store and the European store are different. NTSC DLC will not work for PAL games and vice versa. Full Psn games work; however, some are region locked.

AFAIK only some DLC is effected, LBP is the only example that comes to mind. I've shared with EU people before and have the EU versions of Pain, and 2 PS1 Crash titles, both work fine on my US system.

It's probably in bad taste since my long term has not completed it's current buy but I'd like to start a very important group:

Valkyria Chronicles DLC.

I don't think my long term group will be interested so I'd like to set up one now.

Price is $4.35 for all three packs (assuming sources are correct and they are $5 each). I'd rather not quarrel about the fees so if you don't like the price, don't join. You can always make your own group and charge less. However if you would like the security of knowing you are dealing with someone who has done this many many times and knows what to do, the small difference due to the Paypal fees and taxes shouldn't be too bad. Did I mention I'm online about 50% of the time and my computer pi piru pi piru pi~ for all PMs? Access to me is literally almost instantaneous. Sometimes people overlook the 71% discount because it doesn't work out to 80%.

I'm interested, but will this group be getting all DLC unconditionally or will there be a voting system of sorts? Some of the DLC released just seems so bad that I couldn't imagine anyone wanting it.


All the details haven't been sorted out entirely yet, but i was figuring there will be a voting system, with concentration on DLC that all 5 members want(new and older DLC). Then from their we could do majority voting (i.e 3 out of 5 needed to purchase a song), with the $5 veto system in place if all the members want to do that.

But my ultimate goal is to hopefully get all songs and to just keep up with the weekly releases after that (but as I said above, concentrating on the awesome songs that the majority of the group wants first)

Right now we have 4 definite members and one maby, which I will be finding out if he is in or not tomorrow. If you want I could put you down as the 5th if he backs out tomorrow? Just let me know, and if you have any more questions just send me a PM.

I don't think my long term group will be interested so I'd like to set up one now.

Price is $4.35 for all three packs (assuming sources are correct and they are $5 each). I'd rather not quarrel about the fees so if you don't like the price, don't join. You can always make your own group and charge less. However if you would like the security of knowing you are dealing with someone who has done this many many times and knows what to do, the small difference due to the Paypal fees and taxes shouldn't be too bad. Did I mention I'm online about 50% of the time and my computer pi piru pi piru pi~ for all PMs? Access to me is literally almost instantaneous. Sometimes people overlook the 71% discount because it doesn't work out to 80%.

I will expect payment in advance so that I know you are committed. If this is a problem, I have itrader and eBay feedback. That's really all the assurance I can give you that I won't steal $4.

Its their choice though. Hosting can definitely be time consuming when you are looking for a group, and I'd agree that has some monetary value to it. They could easily start their own group and charge $3.00 all around.

I guess if the game is bought with 9% tax and then everyone pays with credit cards via Paypal, so in the worst case he'd only be paying $.55 for the content. Best case, he'd be making $2.41 and getting the content free. :S

And I'm sure sony won't extend the amount of users we can have either. pretty sure they are losing quite a bit of money with gamesharers....although on the other hand; gaing purchases from groups that are will to 'try' something new out by getting it at 1/5 the price......double egded sword situation, who knows.

Yes, you can only have 16 user accounts at a time & if you delete a user - you will not be able to play anything that was downloaded from the account. Which is why I find single game or short term groups pretty pointless.
