He would be owner of the account, that account has only 5 activations available on it. He gave you one, chances are he used a temporary password for you to log into it so you wouldn't even have the correct information to give to someone else. If they were dumb enough to leave the info the same than yes you could give it to someone else but that would use up one of the original 5 activations/shares. Rule of thumb is your not able to give away games that were given to you. Imagine the accounts as clouds in the sky. Your console is one activation coming from that cloud computer. if you own or know the log in to that cloud you can share it with other people. These do not revolve around your console but the other way around.

Just another tid bit of advice. Waiting for the group to fill up before you buy a game isn't always the best idea, if its a single game. Obviously if its a long term group than you want all members committed. For a single game since your fronting the cash anyway I would buy it now and collect the moolah as people join the group. Kinda like just selling off shares. Waiting for people on one single game you run the risk of them changing their mind or finding it somewhere else. For example I bought Siren when I had 2 people interested. The 3rd came shortly after and I still have one last share I'll sale. I've had a couple people sort of interested but worst comes to worse I paid $16 for a $40 game that was totally worth it for me. I'm not the Gameshare Veteran, I've just spent a hella lot of time investigating, studying it and trying it a few times so its still fresh.

Gamesharing is to be used at your own risk. Use your judgment. A member with less feedback obviously will be the one who as to give info first. Don't listen to lines along of "can we go at same time?" that's a typical scammer's trick.

Yeah, the amount of new users asking around to GameShare is ridiculous. In our private user forum at GameTZ.com, we have a clear rule that a user has to have a " bronze star" (10 trades minimum) or higher to participate.

I pretty much don't do any trading of gameshare accounts. I only create new groups to download games and act as the buyer/organizer. Always get payment first, purchase the games, and allow the established members of my group download first. Then I change the password after everyone downloaded so people can't screw around in the account.

The amount of new users registered in Oct 2009 and with NO feedback is getting ridiculous.

Good thing I don't trade GameShare accounts with people other than family and close friends. For online communities, I form groups with established users. On GameTZ, we have a private GameSharing forum and it's a prerequisite for users to have a minimum of 10 trades before being allowed to participate. Anyone asking to GameShare is filtered out.

on a different subject: I've saw a few posts now offering to trade and the OP has a whole list of Titles up to offer, It is common knowledge that you can't just single out one or two titles if they are all in the same account, so your basically giving them a whole 1/5 of that entire account. In some cases it would be best to designate if the titles are single, or all one account or multiple. It's a bit confusing if your glancing through them.

The amount of new users registered in Oct 2009 and with NO feedback is getting ridiculous.

Good thing I don't trade GameShare accounts with people other than family and close friends. For online communities, I form groups with established users. On GameTZ, we have a private GameSharing forum and it's a prerequisite for users to have a minimum of 10 trades before being allowed to participate. Anyone asking to GameShare is filtered out.

Daniel72296 sent me a friend request and asked to share. Usually I check people out and IM during the trade but I decided not to buy games on my main account anymore cause I'm a member of a gameshare group. I figured I better share what I have while I can cause eventually nobody will want what I have. So when someone offered I jumped at the opportunity. I'm generally a trusting person and that understanding helped me avoid a possible scamming before. I was patient and nice and he came around with a different account as the one he promised didn't work out. I understand there are miscommunications and then there are scams. Daniel72296 immediately removed himself from my friends list and has yet to respond after taking my games. I was able to access his account but all activations were taken, I immediately asked him about this and instead of responding thats when he removed me as a friend.

Thats a good idea. I just give them 1-2 minutes after logging in to mine as that is plenty of time but I guess they might be able to snag an extra share that way so watching from another account is a very good idea.

No.

Activation happens when you try to download something on the account. You could go into account management> activation > Ps3 > Game and it will tell you if the system is activated or not and you can turn activation on or off for that system there

AND THE TRUUUTH.....shall set you free. I woulda plastered his name all over the message boards as a scammer if it took 2 days for him to pay me. Completely legit to change the password if you ask me. Its risky enough with more than one person knowing the password, than if they are sketchy you have all the more right to worry. Glad shits getting worked out though. Next time don't give info till after they pay.

We did agree and it does matter. To be clear I did get my downloads. However I wanted to be able to delete my user account and just keep the information on it so that when I needed the DLC, I could just download it then. However now its stuck on my system.

If you notice I agreed that it was deuchy if it had truly been agreed upon and I gave you the shadow of the doubt that it had indeed be agreed upon. That is, before I found out it took you 2 days to pay him. Sounds like communication was needed. Also just wanted you to know that after activation password was not necessarily as there seem to be a lot of noobs around here who don't know how this works and don't bother to research.

How do you mean 'put stuff in download list? If you mean click download then cancel then.

Yes

Activation happens before the download starts. Before download in background or cancel options are available.

If your at the system physically then It really doen't matter much since you can always deactivate before you leave.

Yet another word of warning, PSP gameshare is very complicated, Your PSP can only be linked to one account at a time and will only play games downloaded from that account. If someone were to share you their games they would need to give you there permanent password (which they shouldn't do unless they are related to you by blood, even than its iffy) so the best way to PSP gameshare is check the PSP gameshare thread as they open a dummy account that everyone has access to and split the cost of games thus protecting their own accounts.

I agree with wbc on this one. Sounds like blackkrystal was legitimately gamesharing and best1 didn't quite understand, than crossed a line. It seems to me that the biggest scammers are those so afraid of being scammed that they just scam back before even realizing that they didn't get scammed in the first place and are just being scammers themselves. There is no reason to do anything of the sort. I have been scammed than convinced the person to trade legit. I didn't steal their account and even friends of mine who did try to scam a scammer I tell them not to stoop to their level.

Just from what I've read I would be much more likely to trade with blackkrystal than Best1, not to mention your lack of forum etiquette and group spam. Sounds like you need to grow up.

Traders beware, you can only share games on up to three PS3s now, users with share groups will also be affected.
Users with >3 systems activated should be safe, however if one system is deactivated, it can no longer be activated again.

Some developers don’t like the practice of gamesharing - one person buying a game and then loaning his account details to four friends so they can download the game for free – and now it appears that Sony are getting a bit fed up with it too. Despite Jack Tretton pushing the idea as a positive one – “you can send that content to four other friends for that initial investment, we want to get the game in as many hands as possible,” he famously said at the PS3’s launch – it now appears that the limit has been dropped from 5 to 3.

The terms of service that appear to have changed (link to the Australian site here (http://au.playstation.com/legal/detail/item223672/Australia-PlayStation%C2%AE3-Software-Usage-Terms/)) state that “you may use [your purchased] item or content on up to three (3) different PlayStation®3 systems that have been activated for your account. You may deactivate or activate specific PlayStation®3 systems, as long as the maximum activated number of PlayStation®3 systems for your account at any given time is three (3).”

The TOS then goes on to say that there are “two sets of usage schemes for content, corresponding to two categories of in-game items and other content that you purchase.” The first category, called Network Content, can only be accessed “by one activated PlayStation®3 system per day and only by the account through which the Network Content was purchased. Network Content cannot be used on two different PlayStation®3 systems within a twenty-four (24) hour period.”

This effectively ends gamesharing on multiple user accounts – you have to use the account the game was purchased under. The second category, and the one which seems the most restricted, is Local Content, “once installed on a PlayStation®3 system by the account that purchased it, can be accessed by other accounts on that same PlayStation®3 system.”

I personally have yet to gameshare, but I am not opposed to it. But take it for what it was - Sony allowed everyone to split games 5 ways for several years now. Everyone got a great deal for a long time. If that changes, cut back your purchases to essentials, sure, but don't outright boycott it over something like this.

Gameshare, in my mind, is a pseudo-form of piracy. Developers don't make games with the intent to sell it to people split 5 ways. Publishers don't want what's sold to be split 5 ways either, they are losing a lot of profit. Especially compared to how games are sold on XBL, the way Sony does it is a steal.

You really shouldn't be complaining that they're toning down something that probably shouldn't have existed anyways.

You could be all about principle and support developers and buy games new, etc... but at least in my mind, this is completely different. Granted, I don't have anything against piracy myself so... yeah. I'm just glad it was/is/will be a good deal for us.

Once you start gamesharing, the base price of the items purchase become 1/5 of the cost. 10$ game? It's really a $2 game. Once you get into it, that's the mindset you have. It's not being split 5 ways, the price of the game is just just $2.

It's essentially no different than if the company did a PS3 update blocking out all PSX discs from playing on your systems just so you had to buy them from PSN.

What you pay isn't the retail price, regardless of whether you think so or not. Full price is retail, what you're paying is a heavily discounted price.

And it's nothing like if they removed your ability to play PSX games you own. The way SCEE stated things, it's not retroactive. They aren't taking away any content you've already bought if you don't reactivate.

Its not the system it's the account. So you could still gameshare but everyone that wanted to play would have to log onto the group account to play it. Would suck for trophy whores like myself. But hasn't happened (yet?) so I plan on playing the hell out of my group PSN games.

Of course, that's just Sixaxis's interpretation of the TOS, technically you have to have the account locally now for activation so they could be jumping to conclusions.
