Well we can delete a user name from the PS3 and still play the game we got from it right? We could always add it again later if redownloading is needed. I assume deleted users dont count against the 16...

Delete the user name and the content will be disabled. I tried it once, it'll say something like you do not have permission. Users must stay on the PS3 as long as you want to play.

Guess it's another reason to stick with a certain group. Doesn't seem like a lot right now, but there's going to be tons of PSN stuff over the next several years ....

The R&C PSN game they announced, $15 sequel to tools of destruction. I'll end up playing them in reverse order because I'll be waiting for that to come out as a greatest hit then get a bit cheaper (I'm thinking a 2 for $50 deal with Uncharted won't be hard to find next year)

I'd imagine the only unshareable games are the ones on disk too. Ratchet is only $15 so that will definitely be shareable, wipeout I guess could go either way.

Alright, here is the deal. Both Me (mwestep) and Happy would like to get a group going that will buy most (if not all) of the worthwhile PSN games. Games that cost $10 (or $15 in rare cases) and under are dirt cheap split 5 ways.

If anyone that has a mindset like this, and wouldn't mind putting forth a small amount for games that you might not want (if everyone in the group decides that they dont want it, then makes no sense to buy it), PM me or Happy and maybe we can get something going.

The point of this group is just to have one account for the five people in it that will be able to get almost everything and anything for the future of PSN, so it will cut down on extra account sharing for one or two more games, and so you won't reach your maximum account limit on your ps3.

Once we make a group the 5 people are final, that's the tradeoff for saving the extra user spots. I know that I'd be willing to put in a few extra dollars for a game I may not be so interested in here and there as long as others are too (that said I don't think anyone will be looking for the PSEye wallpaper things even though I won an eye now).

Yeah, there is really no option of backing out of a game, and having someone else fill in. If everyone doesnt want the game, then so be it, we wont download it. Only exception is the addon packs for games... normally dont think we will download them, unless everyone has the game or something, not sure, i am sure it is something that we can go on a game by game basis.. I got a few PM's and I will try to go through them.

Just keep in mind that this group will be in it for long term. Main focus of this group is just to have one reliable psn account to get pretty much every PSN game that will be coming out. Side benefit to this is that we will get a shitload of games for cheap, and we don't have to make risky game sharing of our main accounts to maybe get 2 or 3 games. New PSN games dont tend to come out more than once every 2 weeks or so.

Hopefully we will be able to set up a forum on this.

Since I'm new to the PS3 community, getting my MGS4 bundle last month, my concern surrounds my ability to get access to games that may already be pretty popular in the group and everyone already has. For instance, will I have trouble getting something like Super Stardust HD (a very popular/good PSN game I'm told) because everyone else already has it?

I can see the challenge getting people to buy things they already own. So do we just say spend the group's $$ only on stuff released after the team is formed?

Also, are we only talking about PS3 games? I have a PSP but am less interested in what the PSN store has to offer for the PSP.

Just for reference on my situation, I already have PJM+ expansion, SSHD and the solo expansion (no real interest in multiplayer), Tekken, and Pain (I could go either way on the amusement park thing). I also don't have a PSP so no interest at all in that stuff.

I haven't done this before, but it sounds like it has been messy in the past. I wonder if any team has played with the idea of setting up definition about what would be spent. For instance, a team could have a rule that "we expect to have a $25 buy in per member and spend an amount not to exceed $xxx without approval of the team."

When we start saying "bigger games" and other terms that are left to interpretation I wonder if that is where the problems start. Also, many teams seem to have open-ended timelines. Perhaps a team could set up a "potential expiration date" meaning the initial commitment is, let's say, a year and then a member could get out with less guilt at that point. Or the team could keep going. If we believe Sony when they say the PS3 will have a 10 year life, then there a lot of PSN action ahead. It may unreasonable to leave it open as "forever."

Just a thought off the top of my head. Like I said, I'm new to this sharing biz.

Ya, that's a concern - what if people just drop from the group.

I also would like to join a group if it were only for new releases. Don't really fancy the idea of buying something I already have, even considering the cheap price of it all. I would like to focus more on future releases. Not necessarily everything that comes up, but instead have a vote where 3 out of 5 means we should buy it.

I don't know about other people but I would definitely be in it for the long haul, especially with all the future games that have my interest. Ratchet, Last Man, Eden, Elefunk, Fat Princess, etc.

As I've been trying to say, I would love to get into one, or multiple long-term groups. Even if it would be one for Rock Band songs, one for new games, and one for older games, it would still be cool. The kids love Rock Band, but jesus it gets expensive trying to get the songs by yourself - leaves me with little money for games I want to play.

I've just dropped another 10 today on more RB tracks, so yes, my desire to join long-term groups is very high.

ehhh, sort of weak. I got like 9-10 considering I have a few region accounts, like japan and UK. Hmmm if i delete them they dont count towards the limit right? So I can just add them/delete them as I please if I want to dl something from the japan store or something.

You can add and delete all you want, but if you delete one that you downloaded a game off then that game will also deactivate. I.E. if you delete the one you downloaded SSHD off then you'll no longer be able to play the game.

It sounds great and I'm in. Although I'd like to know how interested you guys are in retro games and PSone classics? Personally I really don't want either unless it's something really great. And also the only other game I see that I wouldn't play at all is Siren and since it's gonna be released in episodic content I really wouldn't want to waste a large portion of the money on it. I 'm thinking that our group should probably just be in regards to the PSN as not everyone will have every PS3 game. If you put in your money into buying a PS3 add-on and you don't even have the game, it's useless...at least when it comes to PSN games, even if you may not want it, you can use it. For instance, we can have 3/5 people want new COD4 maps, but those are a waste for someone who doesn't own it for the PS3. Personally, i'd stilll be willing to put my money towards add-ons to PS3 games, but i'm guessing there are others who would disagree.
Also, add-ons to current PSN games that not everyone may have may not be a good idea. Obviously, with a 5/5 vote we could and should still purchase. Another rule idea, maybe a 5/5 vote for anything above 30?

...just a couple ideas that ought to be tackled before we start a group. Like I said, i'll be in even if we bought game content or whatnot....it only ends up being a couple dollars per add-on anyhow and, in the long run, we're still saving a ton of money. I just want everyone to know what the deal is before they get in.

It sounds great and I'm in. Although I'd like to know how interested you guys are in retro games and PSone classics? Personally I really don't want either unless it's something really great. And also the only other game I see that I wouldn't play at all is Siren and since it's gonna be released in episodic content I really wouldn't want to waste a large portion of the money on it. Retro games and classics will also be voted on. I will not include disc based DLC unless its wildly popular and/or PS3 specific. I think if the group shows strong interest in it we might. My plan with Siren is to vote on the first episode and if we vote yes and enjoy it and vote yes again we'll buy a second ep. Siren as a whole will cost less than $10 a person anyway (and thats only if we vote to continue or else its just $2.50. And I'll cut down the buy-in to $15 but I urge everyone to have money ready as July has a lot of releases.

If you use the backup utility, you PS3 will be restored on your new HDD exactly like you had it. Share game and all. You shouldn't be required to reinstall anything.

I would never try to redownload it without deactivating the account in the first place. That'd be taking 2 downloads from the person when it's not even necessary.

Actually, I think I've found a way around this problem and I think it needs to be one of the rules for trading:

- I can deactivate the PSN account I used to download the game on my PS3 and then add it to my new PS3. When I do that, I can download the game to my new PS3.

I think that one of the rules for sharing needs to be that if you share a game, you've got to be willing to allow a person access to your account again if they need to deactivate the account so they can redownload the game on another PS3.

It sounds like you've basically got this right, Rig. In a one-for-one trade you'll temporarily change your PSN account password giving someone else access to your account. With that access they can download things that you've purchased. Hopefully they will only try to grab what you've agreed to trade!

They will give you their account info and a temp password so you can access their account.

Once you've downloaded each others stuff, you'd change that temp password back to what it once was so they would no longer have access.

They way this was explained to me, your PSN purchase can live on up to 5 PS3 (ID'ed by serial number). So once on your PS3, once on your trading buddy's PS3, and then up to three other trading buddies.

I'm not sure that it works like how iTunes authorizes and deauthorizes computers to play back purchased tunes if you exceed their 5 computer limit.

Your concerns about security are good although I've had good experiences here on CAG so far.

This be the truth.

You can only share your account with 4 other ps3's. And when you share with someone, they techically have access to everything you have. So even though you say Pain for SSHD, that other person can take PAIN and everything else you have (unless you have nothing else).

That is a HUGE difference from what I understood. Still a bit confused on what the best approach would be if I wanted to share multiple games with multiple other CAGers.

We'll you could do single accounts for games like Torifle said, but with a 16 account limit on the PS3 sooner or later you're going to run out.

There's no perfect solution. The gameshare you're in right now should at least get you most decent new stuff though ....

It's a 5 account limit not game limit. Although it sounds similar it is not. That's presumably why you create different accounts though so people don't snag your other stuff (BTW there's a 16 account limit per PS3).

To use the example above in your terminology :- If you bought SSHD, Pain and PJM, say, and share PJM with me, you'll have lost 1 share out of 4 for all games.

Well, I stand corrected. :o And thinking about it, it makes a lot of sense to be on a per account basis than a per game basis. And it also explains why I ran out of PJM downloads when I thought I had 2 left.

So, to clear up the confusion I caused by my post - you have 5 account shares. All games, present and future, are affected by the number of shares you've made previously because games can only be played on activated PS3s and you only get 5 at a time. In other words, you have to make new accounts unless you plan to share all your games with the same people.

And having read the OP with SCEA's response, I feel much better about sharing. I'd like to join a group if there's one available.

Right now the only 2 non shareable games are Warhawk and GT5P. When you go to purhcase them and read the disclaimer (small print) it says in a roundabout way that they are not shareable.

Hey CAGers -

I'm in the process of forming a 5-member trading group focusing on older games on the PSN. As a new PS3 owner myself, I found it hard to find a team that was doing this. I also didn't want to miss out on the great PSN content released before I got my system. It turns out there are others in the same boat.

This is a quick hit group that is just going to get the top "older" PSN games and them fold the group. No long term commitment.

Based on the current membership, we've come up with an initial (and possible final) list of games we will buy. It includes:

1. Pixel Junk Monsters
2. High Velocity Bowling
3. Echochrome
4. High Stakes Poker
5. TBD

You'll notice that Superstardust is not on the list. We found that many members already had it and that it would be hard to find new team member if they already had it. Perhaps the extension packs could be an option though.

Initial, and likely only, buy in is $10 a member. We'll manage the team through CAG and the ancillary message board focused on these groups.

If you're interested, please let me know ASAP. We already have two committed members and one "maybe." I'd ask that you PM me if you're interested though. Don't post your interest on this board please. It will help me keep track of interest this way.

I'll help you on this one since I recently upgraded mine's.

All demos, videos, music, game saves, and account profiles will not be lost. However, you will need to re-download any DLC you purchased online. For example, I had to re-download my SingStar & Rock Band songs, PixelJunk Monsters, and Castlevania SotN and lost nothing except time.

All in all, make sure you have access to all accounts with the DLC you purchased or else you won't be able to re-download them.

Delete encore as it's the expansion to PJM. Install PJM, then Encore and you should be fine.

I propose starting a Rock Band song group. If you're planning on getting RB2, it'll be good for you as well since the songs are compatible.
