This is a deal so good I'm breaking my purchasing ban.

*edit: saw this is for vol 1. Still good though.

I would get in on this deal if I hadn't already found MK:DA for 1 cent through a clueless cashier at Circuit City during whatever promotion they had a month ago.

That NHL deal is VERY tempting....except i wanted to pick up ESPN NHL for $20.

Well done, Cheapy!

I did manage to pick up both Arcade Treasures (paired with The Suffering) and MK:DA (paired with Psi-Ops), because of items you posted earlier in the weeks.

If I didn't already have them, I'd be on this like white on rice.

Good job on getting this deal nailed down. :D

The "public" weekend deal is also good on videogames.

It's too bad I have both of these games, otherwise I would have dug into the deal. Nice to see more exclusive deals from Gamestop, hope we got one every few weeks.

Arg..I keep 'keeping an eye out' for MAT, but never picking it up...although I'm not a huge fan of fighters, I could get some play out of MKDA then probably break even on it at least.....but i'm broke : (....tempting nonetheless, sometimes things are 'too cheap not to buy.'
Anyway, thanks for the deal, Gamestop and CheapyD.

Damn, so very tempted to get these, of course they will sit on the shelf along with my other unplayed games for a while. Is MK: DA any good? and does anyone have an experience on which system may be the way to go on this?

I read that MAT is a little smoother frame rate on a couple games on Xbox, but don't know anything about MKDA.

This will be especially sweet if I can find a retailer who'll let me exchange the MK:DA for, well, anything. I'm completely uninterested in MK but I figure I can easily get $10 back from it and thus stll have the MAT for $10. If I can exchange it for the full retail price (PH, I believe) that will be perfect.

http://xbox.ign.com/articles/440/440841p1.html

But overall the game runs better on the Xbox than its PlayStation 2 counterpart thanks to faster loadtimes and a perfect emulation of Smash TV. And there's also a very subtle Xbox Live-enabled feature where you can rank your best high scores against other Xbox players...another neat addition.

By the way, I just thought of a great idea for MAT2 that I am sure is too late to make it in.

They should let you setup your own High Score Hall of Fame with friends on your buddy list in addition to the overall ranking.

This way, we can feel good about beating somebody.

I loved MK:DA, but I've also been a huge MK fan since the first in the arcade. The fighting might not be as tight as some of the topnotch fighters, but its definitely enjoyable. As far as the system, the Xbox has superior graphics and sound (as usual).. but it's a small enough difference that I'd choose based on the controller you'd prefer for a fighter.

Same thing here. I already have MK:DA so I will pass. Also after playing MK:DA it is probably the best .01 I will ever spend. It's nice to see a good MK again. They were pretty bad for a while.

Even though I'm miffed at Midway for shafting us on Arcade Treasures 2 you can't beat a 2 for $19.99 deal with FREE shipping.

GRAND TOTAL = $19.99

I also picked up the $6.99 Blowout (Xbox) and Serious Sam sequel (PS2) for $9.99. With free shipping and no tax delivered to my door it several dollars cheaper than driving to my local store for the same items.

That would so rock, but I doubt Midway even remotely thought of a feature like that. :(

My scale of 3d fighters:

VF4: evo > SC2 > MK:DA > Tekken Tag Tornament > Tekken 3 > Tekken 4 > everything else.

This is a good deal, but I think Ill pass on it.
Cheapy, do you decide what games you want for these deals, or does Gamespot decide? I would love to see a preorder deal on the Lord of the Rings: The Third Age like the SS deal we had.

Yep. They mean it's a CAG exclusive. Doesn't show up on a normal gamestop search, exclusive cag link and page.

when does that public buy 2 $29.99 and up games and get $10 off instantly start? I just tried it and it said my order didn't qualify for the discount. I had Front Mission 4 (29.99) and Psi Ops (29.99) in my cart, both were in stock.

Also, I've read the PS2 version of MK:DA has slightly less blood due to graphical issues.

I ordered this last night....almost at the last minute :)
Been wanting MAT, not too much into MK:DA, but I figured I can try it and probably get close to ten bucks back for it if I don't like it. Can't wait to go old-school with MAT though.
Anyway, thanks Cheapy and Gamestop for hooking us up; it's always nice to be appreciated as a customer.
And everyone else, not to be cliche, but if you don't like the offering, don't bitch about it--constructive criticism is one thing, but Gamestop is doing this as an exclusive thanks to CAG, and they don't actually have to do anything of the sort. And I'm sure they do have some business thinking that affects what is going to be offered and at what prices.

got mine in the mail today, The MK:DA does have the big "PROMO COPY" printed on the front of the case. And in side the shipping box came a sample bottle of body wash. Well, I'm not going to complain, I'm such a cheap ass you can belive that I'll use it. I guess they know that lots of gamers smell bad and need help.

Maybe Cheapy told Gamestop that his members smell and could use some help.

I got a sample pack of those nasty Listerine Breath Strips with my Lord of the Rings: TTT: EE.
Hmm...''Promo Copy' makes me feel this isn't as great a deal as it sounded--if 'Promo Copy' is actually printed on the game jacket itself, I highly doubt GS had them printed just for this deal, so while we thought we were getting an 'exclusive deal' as a thank you, GS was using it as a way to dump stock they didn't give away and can't sell [the Promo Copies of MKDA] while making us feel good.
Still a good price for two games, but I feel a little less special now.
