When I first got my ps3, I was having the hd connection issues on bootup, but after taking out and re-seating the hd, it was fixed. However, my brother was a little overzealous with the screwdriver, and stripped the blue screw. I'm a little worried that if I take out the hd again, I won't be able to use the screw anymore. Where can I find a replacement? I called Sony earlier and they claimed to have no replacement screws...

The shape of the screw itself seemed fairly unusual, but I'm afraid to even just take it out to bring to a hardware store (it's that bad, I don't know what my brother thought he was doing).

Maybe it's a good thing Sony didn't have any replacements (http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=35805).

And to make sure, did you call the number in the manual (1-800-345-7669)? They specifically list that number for replacing the HD cover/tray/screws so it's odd that they'd claim they don't have any replacements.

I stripped the blue screw when doing a HDD replacement a little (although I got my HDD back in). I might have to get another.

stripped the screw as well. i left it out. doesn't seem to be a prob after a month of hardcore hd usage (tekken DR, GT5 Prologue demo, yakuza 3 demo). but then again, my system lays flat.

you could even put the hd in w/o the tray...i couldn't get the hd out of its tray at first and tried it out. buut just to be safe, call sony. since they allow ppl to swap hd's without voiding your warranty, i'm sure get calls about that part all the time.

which reminds me, i need a another tray to making swapping hd's easier. 720p MPEG4s eat up a lot of space.
