Random Fighting Game Related Story: I was playing CvS2 in the arcade, just trying to beat the game. During the fight before Akuma/Rugal, someone challenges me to a game. I beat him, then he challenges me again. I beat him again, then he puts down ANOTHER quarter. Immediately after he picks his character, 3 other guys crawl out from under the shadows, and put up their quarters. I get pissed off, then throw the match. Isn't there some sort of code, or policy among people to you know, ask before playing?

Anyone watch some of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix footage over at Gametrailers? I just watched one clip, but the two things that stuck out immediately were:

1) Ryu bobs way too fast while standing.

2) This game needs like... double the frames of animation that it has now.

It really does seems sorta like a Flash game at this point, which was my biggest fear.

damn... it's just jarring that like for kicks, there's approximately... no animation. It's just a picture of a kick with nothing leading up to it. I know that adding frames would keep it from being a perfect port, but it'd be nice to at least see that in the remix mode that they're (I assume) still doing.

We need a new social random shit talk game to play. In roughly a month I see that game being GTAIV since it'll have a nice online multiplayer mode :)

Takes some getting used to/practice.

Also depends on how you use the taunt.

There are certain situations where a taunt would be guaranteed on hit/block...

Also some people hit all 3 simultaneously... some people buffer... I do a mix of both, I'm weird.

Anyone else have experience with Bryan's taunt game? I usually hold 3+4, then tap one and cancel with f or b... but then if I want a single one I'll hit all three.

it's still damn incredible for fitting on a portable.

In terms of technical stuff I say it's impressive. I can see gripes about changing framerates (I still don't understand this since I barely hear shit similar when talking about movies), lower graphics (expected when porting arcade to portable), and... that's all I can think of.

It's a damn mirracle the game even came to the PSP. I was expecting them just to port Tekken 3 or something.

I still want Soul Calibur on PSP... that would be sweet.

I'm picking up the PStriple version of it, unless the 360 version is miraculously better, but I doubt that'll happen with a Japanese developed fighting game like this. And seriously, Yoda is lame... May I say that KoFXII and Battle phantasia are doing what has been needed to be done for 2d fighters in a while? beautiful hand drawn high rez art... I'm still waiting for a game where all the sprites are painted.

-The multi-shift system from 2003 has been abolished and the game is returning to the old 3-on-3 elimination style matchups.

-Attacks will clash/erase each other, much like in Asuka120% or the GGX series. It seems that this is SNKP's solution to high priority attacks.

- Opponents hit to the edge of the screen will droop there for a while, becoming vulnerable to additional attack(s).

- There's a new motion called the "Guard Attack", which switches the offense and defence in an instant. Not much details on this system, we'll have to wait and see what it's really like.

SNKP: Rather than the multishift system from KOFXI, this game (KOFXII) will adopt the traditional 3-on-3 elimination style battle system that's been used since KOF94. By returning to the traditional format and revising the game system that's gotten too complex, we're aiming for a game balance that's playable even for beginners. Instead of complicated combos that makes full use of the game's system, we want to put emphasis on "reading the opponent's mind".

--Is the guard system a part of that?
SNKP: We'll only say that it's a "very offensive system". We plan to make it a system where you can hit back an opponent's attack so that (the player's) offense and defense switches sides.

--What kind of an effect does the "Sousai" (clash) system have
SNKP: The attack detection on both sides will disappear and you'll have to start over again. We've added a lot of (elements) to this system as well.

--Final words to the fans please
SNKP: All of our staffs are working off their heart and blood to make this the best 2D fighting game ever. This game is the result of what we insisted on developing in 2D. Please look forward to seeing it, both in terms of graphics and gameplay.

QFT. I remember when a friend asked me how I remember all of the moves in fighters. I told him that, with a few exeptions, all moves use similar commands. Once you know the commands, you can figure out most characters' moves. Then it's all about what moves you're doing and their properties. That's the tricky part.

And button mashing = victory, especially in VF5. PPPK all day. ;)

As for KoFXII, nice to see online play confirmed for next gen. TRIEU's post over at S-C mentions a few people coming back to KoF but everyone went up in arms at Keith from the Power Instinct universe as a character for KoFXII. I didn't really care for the mechanics in Matrimelee and RotD but it was still lots of fun and I'm more than hoping more people from that universe show up.
Unfortunately the mention of a clash system kinda bummed me at first because I LOVE me some priority games but I'll still hold off on final judgment when I see how the attacks cancel in terms of strength, multi-hit, etc. From what was said though, it seems like they want to make it as kind of KoF's parry system.

that would be like saying that doa xbv would be a terrible game if the entire cast was male. it's just a part of the game so why try to figure out what would happen if it didn't exist?

i'm liking brawl but then again i'm a strictly multiplayer person and playing with my brothers 1v1 style has been a lot of fun. it might not be as deep as melee, but melee didn't get really deep until 4-5 years after it came out. again, it's like stepping from sf2: hf to ssf2 or from tekken tag to tekken 4. maybe it'll be good. maybe it won't.

i didn't play sse. i don't have to. i don't play any of the events, don't care about home run contest or any of that. and i'm still having a lot of fun with it.

then there's sf3. sf3 brought back ryu, ken, and akuma. that's it, and a bunch of "generics" at the time. when i grew up, i didn't know anyone that cared for sf3 'cause of that, all of my gamer friends fled to alpha because it had a more recognized cast. until 3rd strike came out and we lost to japan in it in evo, then it started gaining ground. and then after daigo parry, it became more popular here from an FG perspective. but you still won't find people on the street who know who oro and yang and urien are, but who can readily identify zangief, blanka and the rest of the sf2 cast. and i'd wager that there are a lot of people who would play 3S over ST so should you really care about review scores?
