View Full Version : What to do with a sealed Wavebird?

I know I'm getting Brawl, just not yet, and Kart is going to be an instant buy....
Picked up a sealed one for only 26, but I don't have one of my own.
I do have a 3rd party wireless one... I haven't had much play time so I can't say if I like it or not... seems solid enough....
I have a regular gamecube controller also...
with the prices I see online for what sealed wavebirds get, I could easily roll that into a couple new games.... get Brawl and a DS game.
I know wavebirds are the best, and I haven't touched/played with one...
So my question is.....
Do I keep it because it may be the only way I'll get a new one... (I would hate to get a used crusty one... and GS/EB are too far away for me to look).....?
Or would I enjoy the cash from flipping it elsewhere.... ???
I should have grabbed 2 that they had to sell one and keep the other one... but eh... wasn't thinking properly at the time...
Thanks for any feedback!

If thats the case, you won't miss what you never had (or at least tried).

There isn't anything close to a Wavebird though.

Sell the wavebird and buy 3-4 used ones with the money. Wavebirds are $15 used at Gamecrazy.

I got 3/4 of my wavebirds at one gamecrazy. The Gamecrazy by me has tons of accessories. I got 2 wavebirds in one stop there. Just keep looking out for them, it's well worth it.

There might be one close to me, but if it's beat up, I really won't want my hands around it.
Thanks for everyone's advice!

keep the wavebird.
sure it's tempting to sell it for a modest profit now, but money comes and goes. wavebirds however will only get rarer and rarer.

I love my wavebird. Best controller other than maybe the 360 wireless.

I'd keep it. You're lucky to have one.

Personally, I'd sell it. Wavebird uses RF, so there is a minute lag. No rumble as well.

Wow.... I didn't know sealed WaveBirds were going so high. I have five and my fifth one is still sealed. If I didn't have 2 GameCubes (and my Wii), I'd have to consider selling it...

For the love of God keep it! The Wavebird is so good that it has ruined all third party wireless controllers for me. It wasn't until I picked up a 360 that I had found another top tier wireless controller.

Sell it and buy wired GC controllers.
They're better for Smash and most other games.
I had 2 wavebirds myself but almost never used them.
Sold them to friends.

Lag? I haven't had any lag problems at all with my Wavebird.

Lag? I haven't had any lag problems at all with my Wavebird. It's very minute, but it's there.
Brawl is a lot slower than Melee though, so it might not affect it as much.

Keep the Wavebird. You'll never regret it.

Sold them to friends.I'm the exact opposite. I haven't touched the wired controllers since getting the Wavebirds. I'm thinking of selling off the wired ones, but I may keep them for backups.
I also haven't noticed any lag, but I can see how there would be one, albeit a minute one. I may have just not ever noticed.
They work great on every game I've thrown at them.

In the OPs case crack it open, third party wireless controllers for the cube stunk to high heaven. Recently just bought two Wavebirds myself, seems like Brawl caused the price of used ones to jump on ebay, sealed ones are starting to really get up there too.

If you want to get technical, every wireless controller will have 'lag,' but it'll be WAY too short to ever notice it. I've never noticed the wavebird lagging, ever. '
Oh, and for the OP, keep it. You won't regret it.

No, you notice the lag, its big enough to notice.
But small enough for some people to not care.
I'd personally sell it and get the wired controllers. I don't get the huge need for wireless ones unless you have a theater system that has a huge screen tv or one thats hung up really high.

I apologize for the what I am about to say: A wavebird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Bad joke aside keep it. Look for soem used and if you find them buy them, then sell the sealed one.

I think those that "notice" lag in Wavebirds are either insane or just looking for something to bitch about.

Maybe they notice the speed of light is a little slower when traveling through air instead of a vacuum.

The only time you get a lag with a wavebird is if the batteries are low.
Open it up and use it and don't be one of these turds that try to sell it for 70 dollars.
