Yeah I was thinking about getting this.. Will the new EOJ expansion require you to buy another game or just new cards and a patch download?

EDIT: nevermind I read the blog link
Finally, what most people are waiting for, the price … In the US, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT: Biolith Rebellion 2 (Expansion Set Two) download will be available on the PSN for $14.99 on March 27th.
We’ll be back next week with more updates and phantom card info. We’re open to any suggestions on the next topic too … just start your comments with “***blog post idea***”

What? I will need to drop another 15 bux if i want to use any of the expansion cards? that is ridiculous.

i've be thinking of picking this game up since I was a big fan of magic the gathering back in the day. How does this compare?

Yeah it's dumb.. I think they should just charge for the expansion card set and not the extra software/patch ..

The expansion should of at least had a free set of cards mailed to you after buying the update in the PSN.

I heartily second that. I had considered picking this up since the price keeps dropping but if they keep tacking on hidden charges ($15 for the priviledge of playing with the new cards you just spent a fortune buying?) I'm not interested.

15 bucks is a bit steep. I like the concept, even the card buying, but the gameplay came across as simplistic, I didn't put a ton of time into it, but maybe if the 2nd set adds some complexity I might buy into it.

Ah man, I was looking forward to the new cards, too.

I agree w/RR, the software and cards need to be inclusive of each other, and not teh gouge.

I'm tempted to boycott, but I still want them to keep supporting the game.

Gah, what a pickle...

I wouldn't worry about it. I can't imagine overall support for the game is gonna last very long if each expansion is gonna cost $15 to play prior to even purchasing the cards (which are already priced on the high side for a ccg). I really do see this move to charge $15 as killing off any momentum the game had going for it.

Perhaps they should have either charged less right off the bat or somehow included a free download code with a starter deck/pack it may have been easier to take but as it is it comes across as gouging and is gonna really turn people away from the game.

I thought about it for a while and I think I finally understand the $15 price.

Sony dosn't make the cards, they only designed the software and hardware. Wizards of the coast makes the cards and packaging only. Sony mainly makes their money off the software while probably making near to nothing with the cards. Wizards makes nothing on the software but most of their money w/ the cards.

Makes more sense that way, but I still wish it was cheaper.

Has anyone downloaded the second set yet? It's hit the PSN store now for $15.

I picked up some of the series 2 cards last week, but I didn't know you needed this download in order to use them...

I DL'd it earlier this evening, and my Biolith booster and packs were shipped from HTS today.

I'll prolly get it next week, but I suspect it will be nothing but GTAIV for a good while...

No real point of getting this game unless you're an avid card collector. I got this game when it came out and tried two completely different models and neither of them worked. People claim that it is the lighting that messes it up but the whole house was lit up. Tried everything i could to get this working.

thats not really the problem. The problem is people are copying cards and using them for online play. There is no special code or anything, you could just photocopy the card (or print it out from a website) and use it over and over. The game didn't work out like they thought i guess.

On the other hand, I'll be bringing this setup into my local game store to get people interested.

I view online opponents as friendly practice games. I don't worry about cheating unless it's tournament play, which I don't do anyways, and wouldn't do online if I did. Those players can use the cards, but that doesn't make them better players. Also the powerful cards often have activation/summon costs to match their power. Also, it's a fun game to play just by itself, although it would have been more fun without the whole random collectable aspect. I suspect it'd be a lot more popular if it had been just a non-random boxed card game, playable by itself like any card game, but then you could take it online or against the CPU.

The lighting can also be too bright, causing glare off the cards, especially if you have card protectors.

I kind of wish that Sony really had put an IR sensor on the new Eye camera, the directional mic isn't that useful and they could have left it out for that. Then put some IR reactive ink on the cards to prevent that. Not that it bugs me, but it is the main complaint of a lot of serious card gamers.

Not only that, they could hide the markings that the camera reads as invisible IR ink, leaving more room for normal text and graphics printing. However, this is costly considering that common cards are somewhat worthless, no point in putting special inks on those. It'd be more useful with some kind of board game, maybe the PS3's own version of Carcassonne.

However, it's clear that while EoJ relies on the camera, the camera was still designed as a more general use thing.

Oh and anyone else excited for a combination of Home and EoJ? They seem made for each other as you could join Home spaces made for EoJ where players can meet, talk about decks, card combos, strategies, etc... All without using EoJ's limited MP mode. Then if they implement game creation from within Home, it'd make it so much easier to find opponents to try stuff out with online.

I actually disagree. I was initially expecting alot of people in the community of the game to be exploiting the card reading functions and copying false cards. from what it stands, it sure isn't that way. If fakeness is a problem, play people on LBShooters.com and whatnot.

Can anyone tell me if there are any additonal modes thare are available in the set 2 add on?

I'm torn between biting the bullet, and buying the set 2 add-on...or selling the Hand of Juno that I got from my set 2 cards and ignoring the series.

This game is stuggling enough to get my attention for me to play in my library. For Sony to charge $15 for the expansion is hurting them. Its not like these games ever flew off the shelf for people to buy. I like the game, but I am not going to spend $15 to play some more when there are more lucrative titles to be played.

Dammit, didn't make the cut for free promo cards this time.

But Sony will be running another giveaway this Friday.
