How did MSNBC go apeshit?
And why post this here? I don't see anything worth debating.

Olbermann said someone involved had ties to the Clintons. I only caught the tail end of what he was saying though.

He was also making veiled representations about Watergate, and the 1991 Clinton passport deal. Basically insinuating that the 'Administration' has something to do with it, but he was much less so in the 10pm slot. It was funny hearing Eagleberger telling Dan Abrams to keep his panties on about it.

Yeah they were acting like this is the new Watergate and that the president would have to be kicked out of office. I mean there isn't sex evolved, no reason for the craziness.
If lying and making up "facts" about a war don't kick him out than neither will this stupid thing. It just further shows that the Bush government is "run" like shit.

The thing that stood out the most to me is the "curiosity" shit. They kept saying that the intrusion was someone being curious. This is nothing to worry about because it was some random joker with too much time on his hands. Yeah, ok. I curiously inquired into your bank information online and then when I found out you had two million dollars in it, I decided to steal some. A lot of ultimately bad things have evolved from simple curiosity. Even if the guy was just curious, it's still unsettling that he could even gain access to such info.

I believe the people in question are allowed access to this information about the general public. But when someone like Obama's information is accessed, alarms go off.
They say 'curiosity' because from the three second investigation they did ( ), no information was passed on to anyone, thus making it only a termination offense, and not a felony.
As more information came out last night, apparently the low-level managers didn't deem it important enough to pass on to senior officials, so the IG, SecState, or anyone else knew about it until yesterday.

Apparently it wasn't just Obama's passport records that were breeched, but Clinton's and McCain's as well. Here's the article (http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/03/21/ap-rice-tells-clinton-her-passport-file-was-also-breached-in-07/).All three major presidential candidates have had their passport files breached, the State Department confirmed Friday.
Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain were informed that their files were improperly accessed, according to their Senate offices, after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice apologized to Barack Obama for a similar violation.
“We do feel that the system worked, but the system isn’t perfect,” State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing Friday afternoon.
In a statement from her Senate office, Clinton said she had been contacted by Rice, who told her that her file was breached in 2007. The State Department plans to brief Clinton’s staff Friday.
“Senator Clinton will closely monitor the State Department’s investigation into this and the other breaches of private passport information,” Clinton’s statement said.
The development came just hours after the State Department fired two contract employees and disciplined a third for inappropriately examining the passport file of Obama.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

if you don't know the difference between the general public and a presidential candidate....
(not saying it is right in either case)
