Yes..the entire store will be property of the new owner...games and all. I will be able to still run VGD as is...I will just have to get new inventory which aint a big deal. There may be a small period of time that VGD will be closed while I move to Vegas.

The new store owner will NOT be getting my sites. Also he will run Multimedia 1.0 pretty much as it is. I will be training him even.

your in NY right? is property expensive (dumb question) and the new owner is getting everything so how much do you sell it for I am wondering because you gave him the games and everything. there is nothing you want to keep I would leave him all the crap games and take everything worth value.

Wait, it includes the games? That seems kinda odd... does that mean he gets the whole stock as of 12/31/04 or does that mean you can't sell ANY games and he gets the current stock?

you should have a "LIQUIDATION SALE" =]

really.. i need some of the DC stuff you got... and damn its going to be a waste just selling all those games.. you know what would suck? if the new owneer SOLD ALLLLL of the stuff, and turn your place into a strip bar.. =p

oh boy ...lots of nubs here I see...i gotta get noobalert.com set up fast! :-)

Anyways..like I said...the store will not be mine as 1/1/05 which means it is still mine and I will still run it and I will be able to make LOTS of money for xmas. On 1/1/05 the new owner will take possession of the store as-is.

I will NOT disclose the price but I will say that the new buyer got an INCREDIBLE deal. I just want out so I sold cheap to someone I know.

Obviously I have another 4 1/2 months to sell items.

My store is VERY valuable with zero inventory just because there is 10 years left on lease...the lease is below market value and I have been open for 10 years. He is keeping the name so basically he will get customer loyalty and recognition. This store makes a TON of money and it's real value is the used merchandise that comes into the front door. I buy so much stuff here that I have to throw some away every now and then to make room. I just got rid of 4 boxes of miscellaneous accessories. I put them on the curb and people just grab.

oh and I will be pursuing VGN and my other web properties full time once I am in Vegas. I am selling my house and moving my family there next year to start fresh. I hope to spend a lot more time with my kids and be a stay-at-home dad. I want to be around my kids more and the past 10 years I haven't been able to do that. My kids are growing fast as my oldest is 8 now and I think he really needs me.

Sorry but I don't think if this place was a strip bar that would suck.

Hmmm, do you have any obligations in terms of a minimum inventory upon turnover? It would seem you'd face great temptation to make deals during the holiday season to pad your bankroll for the upcoming unavoidable expenses of the move.

I used to spend so much time in Vegas that it seemed like home away from home, what with at least 8 annual trade events and Desert Blast. I've come to know my way around the actual city pretty well but have never considered living there.

There is no current obligation for inventory count so I would be inclined to make some good xmas deals. :-)
I will not sell below whoelsale however but the used merchandise may be a bonanza for shoppers. Also the new owner will be working in the store for Nov and Dec while I train him to run this place properly.

This store is worth the sale price without ANY inventory so the new owner should be very happy. The store has extreme value. He is getting 10 more years on the lease at below market which realisitically is worth at least 1/2 of the sale price and also 10 years of business and customer recognition easily makes the other half. The amount of items that come into my store that people sell to me is INSANE. He will make a ton of money in this place. I believe he will get his initial investment back within 2 years easy...a store like mine should honestly be worth 3-5 years of net PLUS inventory but I just want out.

Congrats Defender. I think that your making wise desision about spending time with your family. You dont have a second chance to raise your kids, so i hope all goes well for you in moving and your businesses. Just curious, why vegas?

defender

We are choosing Vegas because as a NYC resident I dont feel I can move to that many places without feeling dissappointed. It's hard to imagine at this time living in some small town with only strip malls.

Also my kids are mixed and my wife is Jamaican so she is very uncomfortable moving to some places that may have racial tensions....like in the south..she doesnt like the cold either so that leave out the midwest basically too....

Vegas is the fastest growing city in America. The growth and future of Vegas are assured.
