View Full Version : Hey Philly fans, What do you think about Terrell Owens?

I'm a Cleveland Browns' fan who happens to live in the Bay Area, CA. For years, I've been hearing all this crap about Terrell Owens in the local news - how he's a premadonna and how he disrupts his team. Now I am reading about him saying that the Quarterback of my team is gay. Its just another outrageous comment from him.
SO the question I have to ask fans of Philadelphia Eagles is this: Are you happy that he is on your team? Do you really think he is worth it? Do you think he can potential be a negative impact on your team? I sure as hell like to know what your opinion is.

Yeah... i'm not questioning Garcia's sexuality, but in terms of a quarterback he is completely overrated (being in the Bay Area I had to watch Niner games last year instead of my Jags)
He can't throw the ball deep, and even his short passes go in the ground alot. The Niners do look pretty screwed this year though
i think hes a good football player and im glad we got him, but he definetly runs his mouth way to much

The governor of New Jersey has a wife and kids, and he's gay.
Gay or not he is overrated. And so is Terrell Owens for that matter.

The girl Jeff Garcia is dating is named Carmella Decesare. I'm not sure if Cheapy D would approve of a link so I am going to play it safe and not post one.
You will have to google search for her but she is on Playboy's website.

I read an article where Owens says he denied calling Garcia gay.
Anyway, if he helps the Eagles win the Superbowl, I'm sure most of us Philly/Eagles fans will love him. Until then, he's just another expensive player brought in believed to get us over the hump.
I personally think his style goes against everything Andy Reid has been working on for the Eagles, but obviously the old receivers just couldn't cut it.

It sounds like he will fit right in with Philadelphia (since we have the rudest fans who have no problems running of their mouths, what other stadium had a courtroom in it for fans?!). It's possible he could be a negative impact on the team but if he can somehow get the Eagles past the NFC Championship this year (3 years in a row is enough!) then I don't care what kind of person he is.

Judging from that Eagles preseason game the other night, TO was low-key both in gameplay and temperament. Hopefully he meshes in with the offense, but I'm sure the fans wouldn't mind to see more of his hijinks.

Close, but it was more like "Like my boy tells me: If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, by golly, it is a rat."
But more importantly.
Eagles | Owens Brushes off Douglas
Tue, 2 Aug 2005 20:01:10 -0700
Ashley Fox, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl">Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens (http://www.kffl.com/player/1608/nfl) was kneeling away from the fray, quiet and alone at practice Tuesday, August 2, when DE Hugh Douglas (http://www.kffl.com/player/1450/nfl) approached him. Douglas essentially extended his hand to Owens. Owens hardly looked at Douglas as he got up and walked away, leaving the brushed-off Douglas less than happy. "I was just trying to be nice," Douglas said later, after LB Jeremiah Trotter (http://www.kffl.com/player/1923/nfl) calmed him down, told him to give Owens some time, and promised to talk to the disgruntled wide receiver. "He's in a situation where he's trying to get something done, so he's probably a little upset. In a situation like that, I think the best thing to do is give him some space and let him work it out."

...But he performs like a motherfucker on the field.
I was born and raised in Philly (temporarily stuck in Dayton, OH) and I have been a diehard Eagles fan all of my thirty years. I was psyched to get a marquee receiver last year when TO came to town. But now that the honeymoon is over, I hope someone like Brian Dawkins, or Jeremiah Trotter puts a huge hit on him in training camp. "Ooops, Sorry TO, I didn't mean to hit you that hard..."
However, I will cheer him like last year when he starts scoring touchdowns.
You can bet we will dominate the NFC East, if not all of the NFC, again this year.

I'm sorry to hear that you're an Eagles fan. Really, I am.
But I do agree with you that the team needs to show T.O. they won't take his crap. Yeah, he's a great receiver, but he can't walk over his teammates like he has been doing.
If he continues his crap, the Eagles should just bench him like Tampa Bay did with Keyshawn. Let him sit until he's begging and pleading to get on the field again.

But, as I'm sure you understand, when you grow up in a place where there is pro sports teams, you tend to be a diehard fan of those teams, regardless of how well they do. If I ever gave up on Philly, and hopped on some other team's bandwagon, I would get my ghetto-pass revoked. Seriously - in Philly, dudes get their ass kicked for wearing Dallas and New York gear. Beating people up just because they wear a rival team's clothing does not constitute as having pride in your hometown.
Philly fans are known to be the most despicable fans in America. They throw beer bottles at women and cheer when an opposing team's player suffers a neck injury that could have killed him.
No, that's not pride, that's classless. Most Philly fans are the biggest pieces of shit in pro sports.

i agree with him on the whole contract system. I really dislike how it is set up, a team can cut someone or renegotiate for less money whenever they want. I have no idea how they allowed contracts to be nonbinding. IN the NFL you have to make as much money as possible because you never know how long you are going to play for in addition the careers of most players is the shortest out of all the major sports. I think there needs to be a change in the system and problems like this wont happen anymore.
I want TO to play for the Eagles, we have no #1 receiver and that is key to going all the way. People have to remember its not a game its a business

Yeah. I can't STAND Philly fans. Quite frankly, for the most part, they're a bunch of classless asshats. I mean, granted, I did grow up a Dallas fan (and eventually shifted to the Pats when they drafted Bledsoe) right outside of Philly, so I always had to deal with them first hand. The sad thing is, like my dad says, I actually like the Eagles, especially McNabb. But I really can't stand the fans at all. They don't deserve to have a good team. They should be stuck with some crapass team who can't do shit. And let's not even start on TO. He was a cancer in San Fran, he was a cancer for the short time he was "in" Baltimore and now he's a cancer in Philly. I say ship his ass out to Oakland. Let him play with the other biggest douche-bag in the NFL, Moss.

he would not even be bitching about a contract had he filed for free agency like he was supposed to. He begged to go to the Eagles after getting traded to Baltimore and signed the contract they gave him. When you want out of your contract badly and have that option, you should damn well know when the free agency deadline is.

Yeah, but not many other fans from different cities throw fucking batteries at players from other teams. And I've grown up about 20 minutes from Philly all my life. I'm a diehard Phillies and Flyers fan. There is no way around the fact that a lot Philadelphia fans are assclowns. The only time I EVER cheered at a player getting injured would be when TO got injured, and that's solely because of how Philly fans reacted to Irvin getting injured. How can you say they're not asshats when they'll beat people up for wearing other teams' jerseys or the fact that they had to install a court and jail in their stadium?

First things first, it's totally different when your rival's quarterback twists an ankle and is out for the game. Most fans wouldn't be too sad if that happened.
But remember when Irvin's head was rammed into the ground, and he was almost paralyzed? Yeah, the Philly fans rose to their feet and were actually cheering Irvin's injury. Irvin is one of the greats, and he didn't deserve that kind of crap. I'm sad that playing and getting hurt in Philly had to be his last game.
A mom and wife of an opposing team's player attended a game in Philly one Sunday. They wore his jersey, and got beer bottles thrown at them and were berated throughout the entire game. They had to get a police escort to take them away.
And no I've never been to an Eagles' game, but everyone I've talked to who have been said if you wear a Cowboys' jersey expect to get harrassed or into a fight. That should not be the norm. And thankfully it's not in the NFL except in Philadelphia.
Paying for a ticket should give you the right to boo or cheer, but you shouldn't harrass another team's fans or cheer a serious injury.
Most fans throughout the NFL will cheer for the opposing player and hope he's okay, but not in Philly.

But on this note, I'd love to see McNabb lead TO a little too far into the open field so that he gets creamed by someone. I mean, you're paid to play great. If you play great, why should you get paid more, especially going into only your second year of the contract? You did your job, you get paid. Owens leaves morning practice with minor injury
By Marc Narducci
Inquirer Staff Writer
BETHLEHEM, PA -- Disgruntled wide receiver Terrell Owens missed the final part of the Eagles' morning practice Thursday with left groin inflammation. The Eagles said it is possible that he could participate in the afternoon workout.
Owens still isn't talking to the media, with the exception of a few less-than-insightful comments on Wednesday to former NFL receiver Irving Fryar on Channel 6.
Prior to the injury, Owens has made several impressive plays in practice, including a 40-yard touchdown reception from Donovan McNabb in a full 11-on-11 workout.
There was no update on the situation of running back Brian Westbrook, who entered his fourth day as a holdout. It's costing Westbrook $6,000 a day.
For the second straight day, the Eagles worked in full pads and worked up a full sweat. Temperatures were again in the mid 90's with high humidity.
"It's tough," cornerback Lito Sheppard said about the heat. "You just have to push through it and work."
Eagles rookie linebacker Matt McCoy and second-year defensive back Matt Ware, neither of whom practiced yesterday, returned to the field on Thursday morning.

Eagles fans better not sleep on Dallas this year. They are going to be good, and don't be surprised for them to make it into the playoffs this year. They've finally taken care of the one thing I've always thought they needed, and that's a QB. Bledsoe will take them far. They'll get a wild card, or dare I say it, steal the East from Philly.

Winning the NFC East is certainly a lofty goal. I will be extremely happy with a 10-6 record and grabbing a wild card. But if we're healthy going into the playoffs, we will be a scary team.

It's a long shot for 3 NFC East teams to make the playoffs and since the Giants are definitely going and the Eagles should be pretty good it leaves Dallas on the outside looking in - suckas!

*sigh* when will you people learn that the greatest team ever assembled is the New York Football Giants... I'm too lazy to retype but here's what's happening in the upcoming season from another thread:
Are you people serious? No... that would make all of you morons and that can't be true - can it? The NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS are taking it all this year - quite easily. Look at this easy schedule:
Arizona - Give me a break. The Cardinals suck. (WIN)
at New Orleans - You've got to be kidding. (WIN)
at San Diego - yeah sure Drew Brees is good. Then so is my grandma (WIN)
St. Louis - Mark Buldger is a woman. (WIN)
at Dallas - Parcells couldn't coach himself to a win in a pee wee league these days (WIN)
Denver - Mile high? More like the Broncos are high if they think they have a chance (WIN)
Washington - Old man Gibbs. Hahahahahahaha, etc. (WIN)
at San Francisco - oh how the mighty have fallen. I'm surprised they didn't go after Jerry Rice - he'd still be their best player. (WIN)
Minnesota - No Moss. Culpepper will be exposeed for the fraud he is. Plus, they play on turf and this game is in NY (WIN)
Philadelphia - Simon and Westbrook are out. TO will probably be crying by this point in the season. McNabb isn't running with the ball anymore. (WIN)
at Seattle - No Shaun Alexander and Holmgren is the most overrated coach EVER. I could have won it with that Packer team and he should be embarassed they didn't beat the Broncos the next year. (WIN)
Dallas - See #5. (WIN)
at Philadelphia - See #10 (WIN)
Kansas City - There's no crying in football. (WIN)
at Washington - See #7. (WIN)
at Oakland - Kerry Collins to Randy Moss? I don't think so. Have another drink traitor. (WIN)
That's 16-0 biatch. I swear - some of you claim to be football fans and you can't even see this coming?

To prove that T.O. isn't the only stupid receiver in the NFC East, here's a excerpt from a Cowboys' fan at training camp in Oxnard.
"Key made a catch down the sideline and was told by the receivers coach to "tuck the ball away", to which Key replied, 'Shut the f--- up'."

No, it's not a joke. I like Keyshawn sometimes, but he has his moments. He's a lot like my older brother, both are extremely arrogant and don't like to be told what to do. It seems only Parcells can really lay into him without Keyshawn blowing up.
But Keyshawn, like T.O., shows up on Sunday and is an incredibly hard worker. I don't think there's a tougher receiver in the game today. I've seen Key go over the middle and get absolutely creamed, but he held onto the ball and hopped right back up. And he wouldn't be afraid to run the exact same route the next play.
Bottom line is both players need to shut their mouths and play football.
