Goozex here with another exclusive CAG promo! A lot of you know already about our free games giveaway month to new members, but it has been a few months since we've run a giveaway contest here. Starts: April 7, 2008
Ends: April 21, 2008 (midnight PST)

New signups should enter Coupon Code: CAG

Are existing CAG/Goozex members allowed to enter as well?
YES! To give me an accurate head count simply make a post in the OTHER thread with your Goozex username (ex. Goozex ID: Blackcoyote)

Remember, it's FREE games month -- so if nothing else, signup to get a free game!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++

There are a number of us CAGs who are loyal Goozex users, so please feel free to ask any of us any questions and/or concerns. To prospective users, this upfront 100 point promo is a great way to get a feel of the service...to see if it fits into your game trading scope. I've seen that you can buy points and stuff, so you don't have to trade if you don't want to, correct? Also, how much does it cost to buy the points, as I don't really have many games to trade.

Say I trade on Goozex for Final Fantasy X, do they make you trade the game at some point after, or are you free to keep it forever after you trade for it?

Do they give you conditions of the discs and the other stuff in trades as well? I'm kind of anal about my collection and don't like stuff with scratches or tears, etc. What is their policy if you get something damaged or not in the condition you wanted?

Sorry for all the questions, but this seemed like a great place to ask since I've been a little interested in the site.

I've used Goozex for about 2 months now and I think I've spent a total of $5 for trade credits, and I've send and received about 30 different games. :)
It's really the best way to deal in games now.

The games are yours to keep for as long as you want. So when they say free game, it really is because you don't have to trade it again if you don't want to.

You can specify to have the game be the full package or just the disc. 9 times of 10 I get a full package and it's in great condition (this isn't a guarantee though, unfortunately)

The conversion rate is about $5 for every 100 points. The more points you buy the cheaper it is. Or you can trade and never buy points, like I have.

so how does this thing work, I signed up but I didnt get any extra points?

so I guess the system is you list your game, you get in the que line, say i'm number 16 for game halo, when my que comes up I pay the points out of my account to get the game and someone will send me the game from their end, they get in the que to send when they list their game as available?

say I have a game available and I list it, I am number 5, the next 5th person that requests that game I will then send it to them and get whatever number of points that game is worth?

if thats how it works its a pretty good system

What? This doesn't even make sense. Perhaps your expectations are unrealistic. I (like lots of other CAGs) have found Goozex to be a highly effective trading resource. No, I'm never going to get the Futurama that's in my request list, but I got Super Mario Galaxy within a few weeks of release as well as the original Metroid Prime right after MP3 came out. Which is kind of an "old" game I guess.

Quick question
I am very new to Goozex, just signed up 2 weeks ago. I have points to buy a popular game (devil may cry 4 either system). It states the time for getting this games is LONG, how long is long. Will it take 2 weeks or 2 months. Thanks in advance.

Go to the specific game page and look at the "Trading Info" tab. For instance, if you are the most recent addition to the PS3 page, look in the "Ready" column and you can accurately gauge your position. For PS3, you would be 35 for full package or 3 for disc only (if you selected that option). For 360 you would be 72 for full package or 12 for disc only.

There is no set time, or way to decipher how long or short a popular, new game will enter the market. As the person below you wrote, looking at the trading info is good insight into trade speed of a game. It depends on the game, and a game like DMC4 with a single-player adventure should probably trade faster than say a multiplayer FPS. Come on over to the Goozex forums for a more detailed conversation about this.

You should be getting the 100 points upon a sign-up, so long as this is your first sign-up, etc. Anyhow, I'm following up with the PTB over at Goozex, and I'll report back to you. I'll also follow up with all those that have signed up here and have not received the 100 points upfront.

Please make sure that you are going through the CAG referral link. You cannot just sign-up anyhow and get the 100 points upfront. Obviously, if you stay with CAG, there is no difference between getting the points upfront immediately or banked away.

Be cautious about becoming too invested in Goozex though. They just bent over all of their existing members by devaluing their points 20% yesterday. I'm sure it'll happen again at some point in the future. There is some guy here that was bragging about having 20,000 Goozex points. Well he just got shafted as he lost 4,000 points of purchasing power when they upped the point cap.

I have 20 games listed on my wants, 5 of them being extremely rare and the others are common GC/PS2 games (Animal Crossing, Wind Waker, DMC1/2/3, etc.) but I've only received 1 game after sending out 4.:-|

If you've been the cache for a while, then obviously you'll get priority but as I've only been using it for a few months, I'll still high up there and those games rare come up as available.

Points weren't devalued at all. People need to get over this BIG TIME. They upped the maximum point value to 1200. As of right now there are 46 games at 1050 (the highest point value offered at the moment... no where near 1200):
18 are collectors editions or bundles (rock band, GH, ect..)
3 are rare PS1 games
and there are several rare games like Nocturne and Marvel vs Capcom in there bumped up to helo stimulate trades.

This is a smart move and will benefit everyone in the long run, and people need to quit bitching about it. NO ONE LOST POINTS.

Since I signed up during the Free Trade month I have a quick question about trade credits.

Do you have to use one of them when you send out a game and when you recieve/request one? Or is it just when you send it out or when you recieve/request one?

Either way great site have enjoyed it thus far.

You need one trade credit for a received game. When sending out a game, you do not pay a trade credit but you must pay for shipping costs to the other user.

As of right now there are 46 games at 1050 (the highest point value offered at the moment... no where near 1200)

Of course they aren't at 1200....yet. They just announced it yesterday and point values are only increased in 50 pt increments. Next week they'll be 1100, then 1150 then 1200.

NO ONE LOST POINTS.

Wrong. Everyone with a point balance lost purchasing power yesterday. Take the guy with 20,000 points as an example. He used to be able to get 20 new 360/PS3 games with his points. Now, he'll only be able to get 16 new PS3/360 titles. He lost out on 4 games overnight thanks to the change. Great job Goozex!

If you are a new user it shouldn't affect you much if at all. But if you were one of their loyal supporters that's been with them from the start and helped grow the site, then you got shafted. Way to treat your loyal users Goozex!

So like I said, be careful getting too heavily involved over there. Go into it with your eyes open as they pulled a shady move yesterday with no warning at all.

Through your own referral link, you will still receive 100 points and 1 trade credit, but the person that you are referring won't get the promo points up front...but conventionally, after pos. feedback. If you are referring folks, chances are they are your friends and they'll understand.

I like goozex.. i just started though.. but I did get 2 "older" GBA games sent quickly (like within the first hour or so) (eye of the beholder and super mario world) and I also had 2 games traded away very fast (trauma center Wii and Jade Empire XBOX Limited Edition) so I have a few bonuses from the last promotion(like 100 pts on a positive trade and 5 free trades on a positive trade)

this will be a great outlet for games i find at pawn shops and yard sales for cheap..

Really, Goozex? Mario Sunshine was pending yesterday waiting for the user to confirm (his third time around) at 250 points. He timed out, so the next available copy starts at the new value (300).

Oh, it's okay. Paper Mario GC dropped from 250 to 200 the day after the user confirmed. 100 point swing in both directions - nice work, Goozex. :(

I would have no problem with them putting in a higher cap for things like guitar bundles, collector's editions, and rare PS1 games that had no business being 1000 points in the first place. But raising the max value of semi-new games is just a major screwover to anyone holding onto points. Games can depreciate, points should not.

Pretty much every game I checked (Mass Effect, SSBB, Turok, hell even Viking) went up. When someone trades a 1000 point game they expect to get an equal game in return. Now, those that sent out a 1000 point game recently come up short when looking for a game they were planning on trading that one for. "Conveniently", they can pass some extra cash along to Goozex to buy the points to make up the difference. Nice how that worked out for Goozex, huh? That's borderline bait and switch material right there.

And the people that had thousands of points...man I feel for them. It's basically taking cash right out of their pocket.

And what's worse, consider this. 1200 is not exactly a nice round number. Does anyone think that that's going to be the final number they settle on? This will probably happen again several more times until we sit on a number like 2000. By then, any points held onto will have cut in half.

If people are going to send off games for magic floating points they need some kind of security in knowing the value of those points. That is gone now, as Goozex could tell you tomorrow that your points are worth nothing.

This is no better than anything ebay or any of the big "evil corporations" have done to their most loyal users. Goozex has lost their high ground with this nonsense. They should have AT LEAST either notified people about this a few months in advance so people had a chance to use some of their points before they were devalued, or they should have compensated people that were holding points with extra points equal to the change in value (people sitting on 1000 points should get 200 extra, people sitting on 2000 points should get 400 extra, etc).

While I am glad to see them roll back the point cap, I don't think it is exactly fair to say that raising the cap is the same as devaluing everyone's points by 20%. It would be devaluing everyone's points to raise the cap AND raise the price of every game by 20%, in order to "fill out" the new point range. While they did raise the price of some games, they didn't change the value of every game, and thus it had no effect on my point balance and the games I wanted to get.

The thing I don't like about the (now-reversed) 1200 point cap though, is that it brings the price of the new games to MSRP levels, when you consider the rough $5-per-100pt conversion. In reality, 1200 points is a rounder value than you might think, as 1200pts is "equal to" $60- the MSRP for most new titles on PS3 or Xbox360. The problem I have with this is that all the games on Goozex are used (with the rare exception of a user sending out a sealed copy... happens every now and then), and thus the value dissapears when I can spend 1200pts on a game or just buy it new. Since Goozex deals with a used game market, they have to offer a discount on their games otherwise it does not become a good deal. This is also why a climb to 2000pts would never work because at that rate you're looking at $100 for a 2000pt game, which nobody would ever request.

Unfortunately with PSP and DS games, the 1000-pt mark is higher than the MSRP for games, and thus titles like God of War are not a good value on goozex since for 800 points I can buy the game new.

I got my points when I signed up. I'm not sure if I want to actually trade any of my games though. Except for maybe that PS2 copy of Rez I bought at Blockbuster yesterday for $9.99. It's missing the cover, but the disc looks great. I knew I'd be able to make some money off that...

It's a shame that people wanted flexible point values so bad that goozex caved in and made it possible and then the uproar was terribly unfavorable afterwards. I feel that the point of goozex is to get away from a money system and it has been working great for me. Would a lot of people pay 2000 points for a rare/collectible game? Maybe not, but I know I might. Paying $100 for a game is completely different than me trading a handful of games I don't want for it.

But I understand that many users only deal in new games, whereas I've picked up a mix of new and old... everyone has a different approach to the site. I wasn't trying to be a douche when I posted, but it seemed like the attitude of the post was to tell people who were interested to stay away because they will get shafted. I appreciate the users who have a large bank of points because they are patiently waiting for their choices to become available while they've sent out dozens of games first, but you have to realize that ANY sort of intangible value is never safe.

Nope, Goozex is not the place for people who are collectors. You might want to check out gamingtz.com, they deal with p2p trading. Well for me I have been lucky the past 2 games I recived where factory sealed, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (xbox) and Guilty Gear X2 #Reload (xbox).

Good find! I hate you. One of my few video game regrets is not picking up Rez when it was first used at GS and they were clearing out tons of copies at one of the stores I frequented because I thought it would get even cheaper. And now it's 800 points on Goozex...

No way to designate GH/PH status.

Personally, I just use Goozex to fill in the missing holes in my modest collection - the classic last-gen stuff I skipped over. It's not really for collectors, it's designed with the gamer in mind who wants to play them rather than keep them on a shelf. It's probably the best place around to get rid of the stuff you can't find a home for.

You guys who are ranting about the point cap being raised need to read this (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175376), specifically the part on price ceilings. This will only help Goozex as a trade system since they make money off the quantity traded- they want more games listed. Nobody has lost any value of points, since the price of points is still 100 for ~$5 (1000 for $50). If Goozex listed new release games for 1200 GP (the equivalent of around $60), traders wouldn't be inclined to add it to their list of wants since they can walk into any B&M store and pay that much to have it right away. That said, even if Goozex did list new release games for 1200 points, we would see a surplus of new release titles at 1200 and a low amount of people requesting the games for that much. With the magic of supply and demand, the price would drop to 1000 soon enough and continue to thrive as it had done so before. The 1200 point cap is ideal for rare last gen titles (or LE versions, IE GTA IV). Why would someone buy the GTA IV LE for $85 and list it for 1000 points on Goozex (the same as the regular version?) Now, if they get an extra 200 points, the price may be right for them.

Trust me, just read up on price ceilings- this is a VERY good thing, and I commend Goozex for listening to its members.

To prospective users, this upfront 100 point promo is a great way to get a feel of the service...to see if it fits into your game trading scope. To current users, this promo is for you as well as this will be a month where we will see 100 point games flying out of your library. Go Goozex, and go CAG.

Quick question for people who use Goozex regularly. Do people complain if the game you send them isn't in perfect condition? I've got some older games I don't really play anymore but some of them have some scratches on them (most are just a couple light scratches, but a couple are a tad worse, still work perfectly though) but I don't know if I should put them up. Is there any way to tell the requester ahead of time that the game is lightly scratched?
Thanks in advance for any answers I get.

It's going to depend on the requester if they complain about light scratches. However, once you are matched with someone, you are given the option both to PM the requester and to mutually cancel the trade. I would maybe suggest shooting the requester a PM, mention that the disc has scratches but that it plays fine, and offer to cancel the trade if this makes them uncomfortable.

Remain tightlipped if you want to receive the referral bonus yourself. It works out the same in the relative short-term to them, so long as they make a successful trade, but you will only receive something if you refer them using your account...

EDIT: If you are their friend, tell them to use the CAG couopn code...as they will get the bonus upfront and another one upon a positive feedback. You'll be out your own referral bonus, but you can say that you have given your friend a solid.

Djkunai is obsessed with changing the Goozex system to suit his needs. There are a few very vocal supporters of his schemes, and it's clear that Goozex was not designed with them in mind and they resent that. The fact is, there are plenty of places they can go to do what they want, but they want to use the Goozex infrastucture to make things easier for them. Goozex works very well for what it is, and the staff genuinely tries to make it better whenever possible for the greatest number of users.

And yes, he misses the point. Reading a couple wikipedia pages on price caps does not an economics degree make.

I have games to list and would like to designate them as such, but is there even a way?

Some games have a separate listing for platinum hits (Kameo, for example) but for about 95% of them there isn't. The easiest way to find out is to type the title into the search bar and see what comes up. You don't have to list them as such, but the platinum hits version of Kameo is the same point value as Kameo and doesn't have a lot listed as available (only 3 as opposed to the regular version which has over 50) so you would probably be able to get rid of it sooner by listing it there.

It's how many people are in front of you basically. But it's not necessarily going to take that long. For example, I was 48th I believe to trade Guitar Hero II XBOX 360 yesterday. And then BAM, today I actually jumped straight to the front due to my open trade slots.

It's a combination of the requester's available trading slots + available trade credits + available trading points + available active games.

You have to send out a game first, and once positive feedback is received you will get a 100 point bonus along with a free trade credit (enough to request and receive a 100 point game). Plus, you have the points from the original trade (which in order to use you are required to buy trade credits- which is how Goozex makes money off this promo). It's actually a great way to start, but don't expect a free lunch out of it.

lordwow
04-06-2008, 03:28 AM
Ok here's the lowdown on the points and trades, etc:

You are given (when you sign up this month) 100 points (the free game) and 1 trade (for the trade). You can choose the game, put it in your requests, and then it'll email you when it's being sent out.

Then, when you get a positive feedback, you get another 100 points and 1 more trade, so essentially, another free game.

From then on out, you need to purchase 1 trade per trade (obviously), which is $1 per trade. You can buy them in stacks of 5 or more. You can then choose to put money into Goozex points (100 points for $5 or more) or trade away games you have to receive points.

So for each game you want, you need to have:
1) The Points (either purchased or from trades that you sent games)
2) A Trade (purchased)

Not entirely sure why anyone even bothers putting games up for trade that are 100 points. That's equivalent to about $5 worth of points, right? It's going to cost $1 in trade credit, and probably another $1 - $2 to ship the game to somebody. So let's say you net $2 worth of points. Why not just take the $3 you're going to spend to make that $2 in points and just buy $3 worth of points and keep your game? No matter how you figure it, it can't possibly be worth trading a 100 point game with this system. Are people taking crazy pills or did everyone just fail math in school? :)

The "sellers" do not have to use trade points to send out games. And points are points, sure you could either donate/throw/give away the games that aren't worth much but if someone wants that game why not get points for them to use towards a newer game? The more positive feedback points you gain from shipping out games enables you to open up more trade slots.

It doesn't cost trade points to send a game to someone.
Also, not everyone likes having a huge game collection.

mguiddy is right about the trade credits you only need them to buy a game not to sell them.but i dont usually put on a 100 point game unless i have a spare mailer laying around. so i guess that makes me a cheap ass.?

It works out for me because I have a bunch of GC/PS2 games I was on the verge of tossing out. While it might take 8-10 trades to equal a new game, I'd rather pay $25 to ship them out then buy it new or used at $40+

I doubt I will ever put up a 100 point game, simply because it's not worth my effort, but for the rest of my trading fodder this is a much better deal than your typical game store (exactly why they created the site in the first place). I've only been signed up for a few days, and have already completed one trade, have another one sent off, and am about to accept another. I'm really liking the system and its interface...now if only someone would put Bladestorm for PS3 up for trade. :D

Ah, well that's good to know that it doesn't cost a trade credit to send a game out. Makes the deal a little better ;) Still not sure it would be worth putting 100 point games up for trade, but I guess if you're just going to throw them out, you might as well. It at least builds up some feedback.

The system definitely seems nice if you have older games to unload which are still worth a lot of points. If I could unload my copy of Resistance for 950 points, that would definitely be worth it, seeing as how brand new games are 1000 points.

I think that there is still a great deal of confusion among users and newbs to Goozex. I again strongly encourage you all to visit the Goozex forums as many of your questions and confusion is and has been answered there already.

Again, through the CAG referral sign-up, CheapyD's link, you will receive 100 points and 1 trade credit upfront, so that you can make a request for a 100 point game right off the bat (or you can use those 100 points toward something else)....
Or, through other referral sign-ups or conventionally through Goozex's site, you will also receive the points and trade credit but only after 1 positive feedback(one game sent successfully). These two options are not combinable, and they are mutually exclusive of one another. No possibility of a double-dip.

********************
EDIT: I was incorrect, and I apologize. Through the use of "CAG" as the coupon code, you will get BOTH promos. 100 points and trade credit upfront AND, upon positive feedback, ANOTHER 100 points and trade credit. Great, great deal. Again, sorry for my part in the confusion.

I've got a question regarding Goozex. It sounds very interesting to me but I'm a little on the fence regarding one thing. In order for me to receive points for some of my older games (and old as in Rtype Final, Dark Cloud, etc) someone technically has to request my game? This sounds like a service that really only benefits you if you're getting rid of the latest game for another new release. Am I wrong?

Whoa, is it just me, or did the prices jump up in the last few days? I don't remember Ace Combat 6 being 900 when I last browsed around Goozex. (And is there any way to find out what games trade in for before signing up?)
Sorry to quote my own post, but I think it got lost in the shuffle. So, my biggest question is, how do I find out what a game trades in for? Is it the same amount of points that it costs to "buy", or a different amount?

It's the same amount of points both ways.

STEP ONE - Make list of games you have and don't want.

STEP TWO - Make list of games you want and don't have.

STEP THREE - Goozex handles all of the work, matching your wants with other's haves and vice versa.

STEP FOUR - You'll get a notification of what games are coming to you or which games to ship.

It's never a one-to-one trade. The person you ship to isn't necessarily the person shipping to you - it's extremely easy to use, as Goozex just takes some information from you and handles all of the grunt work.

100 points roughly works out to $5 but you get a discount if you buy a lot of points

most newer 360+PS3 games are 1000 so you'd have to buy/trade to get 900 if you want something new. GC/PS2 and older games are 100 points.

I'm assuming you're a new user? Some traders are hesitant to send games to users with no feedback. When I first started, I sent out 4 games to build up my feedback, then it was no problem receiving games.

Also, GTA3 is a 100 pt game and as you can see by the previous posts, some people don't think it's worth sending out 100 pt games.

Are you sure. Because when you click on a person's referral link, it brings up a sign up page with this message at the top.

To start trading you will need Goozex points and trade credits. When you join Goozex and activate your account, we will give you 1 free trade credit and 100 points right away: that's a FREE game on us and a great way to start trading on Goozex! Also at the bottom it has an asteriks explaining what a positive trade is, but no where else on the page does it mention such a thing (like, maybe it used to say "We'll give you 100 points after a positive trade*", and they removed that sentence but forgot to remove the part the asteriks lead to). Also, Neither CheapyD nor the member named Goozex have stated anything about having to join through the CAG link, they just keep talking about joining the site.

Of course, if someone wants to help me get to the bottom of this mystery, they could always just join under my referral link (*wink wink*) and tell me if they got the 100 pts.

At the top of your screen, it shows "Trade Credits" and "Points". It should show (provided you haven't ordered anything) 100 points, but they're useless if you don't have trade credits as well. Add Red Faction 2 to your want list, and it'll match you as soon as one becomes available.

It depends, really. Madden 2004 probably will never get a request, but R-Type: Final is a different story. I joined April 2nd, and I sent out my copy of R-Type: Final on Saturday. You can check the 'Trading info' link on the game's description page to get an idea of how desired it is.

For anyone complaining about their spot in line, I wouldn't expect it to move fast, but if you are the only one in the list ready (i.e. 'Active', with enough available points and a trade credit), you will still get the game if you are 99th in line...at least as far as I understand the system.

I actually have traded away my Madden 04 for PS2 just this past year. People do collect entire series, and some games have certain significance to a gamer. In fact, Madden 04 has this stat: Game traded: 20 times since July 24, 2006. There are also 3 disc only requests in the queue, though they are all on hold.

For a better understanding of a game's tradeability, I suggest everyone look at the trade info tab of each and every particular game. That will provide a lot of insight.

Okay, maybe that wasn't the best example (should have looked it up), but with 45 complete copies active, it isn't going to fly out of your library if you're joining the queue right now (then again, good luck unloading it anywhere else, for that matter). ;) Long story short, it is definitely worth looking up the trading info for a game before deciding what to do with it.

The way I see it, there is no skin off your back if you want to sign up just to get one free 100 point game out of the deal (or two, once you complete the first trade)...can't beat that. Just don't be surprised if you end up hooked on the trading system in short oder. :D

The trading info page is definitely your friend (as stated repeatedly in this thread), but don't be dissuaded from putting something up just because it has a lot of copies available. A couple of the games I've sent so far were big surprises, where the queue moved really quickly. I've also got two 100 point PS1 games up that I consider to be worthless and they've actually been moving slowly up over the last couple months. One has only two turns to go now!

The only thing is that you don't have to match up a direct trade. The circumstances that people will trade over are completely different. You can score a copy of Mario Power Tennis on goozex for a reasonable amount of points (and it IS available) whereas people that trade directly tend to be more picky. The $1 fee pays for the service and is an amount I'd gladly donate to keep the system going if it wasn't already integrated.

Man I think I've managed to match up with 2 inactive users, thus taking up 2 out of 3 available trade slots. I with Goozex could some how come up with a way to put games on hold if people don't log in to the website within a certain amount of time, say at least once every 2 weeks or so.

I feel for you on this as I've had 3 games I've sent out been completed by the system after reaching the 3 week threshold. 2 of them seem to be inactive members whereas one is going to Canada and just taking forever. But one feature of the site is that you can just request/offer a game and forget about it. Then a month or so later while everything is working out you all of a sudden receive the game. But let's be honest, you get an e-mail for every transaction and even if a game randomly shows up in your mailbox, how long should it take you to figure out how it happend? It's a double-edge sword but I don't think there's any way around it.

Does Goozex match people up for games over the weekend? I've got 7 games in my library (360 and PS2) and none of them have even gone down by a single turn over the weekend. Same thing for all of the games I have requested. I'm at the same spot in line now that I was on Friday...

I've always gotten my requests fulfilled within minutes as long as it's available. It seems like the site refreshed extremely frequently to match up the trades 24/7

Don't be discouraged, a ton of people clear out their old games through goozex (especially me). Before I found out about the site, I was considering trashing some of my games to make room on the rack.

Woo hoo. I just got matched this morning to send out my disc + manual copy of Metroid Prime even though I was number 99 in line (no kidding, just goes to show how far off that number can get if a lot of people put a game on hold). I'll technically only make like $3 off the game after my shipping costs, but that is seriously like 3x what GameStop will have given me for it (I called them up about 6 months ago and asked, I doubt the price has changed for the better since then). Also, the other game I am listing (disc only Metroid Prime Pinball) has gone up in price by 50 points since I first put it on. I don't know if I should be excited at the prospect of an additional $2.50, or worried that it will make my time before being matched last longer.

My biggest surprise so far is Super Mario Galaxy - It just kept saying "very long wait" with over 100 turns to go. For about a week and a half. Then I got a match. From request time to the time the game was in my hand, it was about two weeks for a game that was barely two months old and still insanely popular.

They give you a free 100 points and a trade credit initially. You can then either request a 100 point game that you will get for free to test-drive the service, so to speak. I suggest that you read up about the service so that you can better understand how it all works.

No, there is no monthly subscription cost. You simply pay $1 a trade for each game requested...and spend money on shipping costs when you send a game out.

Yes people use it as a renting service but you get to keep the game as long as you want.

Wow, it seems to have improved since I last looked. Already matched with someone to send out SW Best of PC, and now I have a bunch of other PC games on there to earn points... plus a PS3 game (formula 1).

Sorry I have neglected goozex. All I want are older games anyway.

Which version? XBOX & GC have no games available, PS2 has 1 available. You might want to add another game since that game seems to be rare on Goozex.

It was Xbox, I'll go take another look, didn't know it was rare. Is there like a list of what is ready to trade on the games or ones available?

Click the title of any game, and then scroll down and click trading info. You'll see how many units are available for trading and also how many people are in front of you requesting that game. Don't be discouraged by how many people seem to be in front of you, because anyone can request games even if you don't have enough points and/or trading points to get them. So then you'll be pushed ahead in line.

Thanks, a friend of mine already has a request for MK: Deception for Xbox, but I don't think he put his as complete. I didn't see "trading info" so this'll be helpful.

Probably a dumb question.... but can you add stuff to your request lists and leave them there for future use? As in, If I have a game I want that is 600 points, but I don't have the points, will it just skip over me and go to the next person in line?

Yes, but at first you can only have two games "Active" at a time, and the rest you have to put "On Hold". The "Active" ones will search for matches, while the "On Hold" ones will simply hold your place in line and let people know you are interested in the game. After you have completed more trades, you'll be able to mark more games as Active.

Yes and it's a good strategy to request anything that you might have a passing interest in. As long as they are on hold, you wont be matched up to receive them and you're position in the queue will be maintained and improve as trades occur. That way if you do decide you want it months down the line, you can set it to active and you will be much closer to receiving the game than if you just requested it that day.

The same strategy applies to games you own. I have games listed in my library at Goozex that I don't own yet. I think I'll eventually own them but I want to preserve a queue spot so that when I do own them and decide to trade them, I will be closer to the head of the line.

Ok, yet another newbish question. I signed up last week and already have two trades that I'm mailing games out. Based on the feedback system, it says only two open trades at a time for those with 0-9 feedback. Does that mean I have to wait for the recipients to leave feedback to close the deal before I can send off any more games? The reason I ask is because the other games in my library are still listed as "active."
(EDIT: Ok. Just realized the answer to my own question. "Active" is different from "Ready". Sorry folks, but I've had a couple drinks tonight.)

So far I'm really liking Goozex. And it's amazed me how quickly deals went through. I listed the original Halo and it said "long wait," so I figured oh well, guess that means months from now. Then the number when to 90+. Then I get an e-mail saying a deal was available. All in less than a week. I think I've found a new addiction.

Yeah once you get 10 points for positive feedback (essentially one 10 point positive feedback for one trade) you'll get one more additional trading slot. I've just hit 5 positive trades which gives me 5 trading slots!!:

Level Feedback score Max number of open trades (requests)(*) Max number of open trades (offers)(*)
1________0 - 9________________2 open trades at a time__________________2 open trades at a time

I've been a member for only 3 days and I'm already sending out 4 games tomorrow and 1 game is on it's way to me. All 4 are games that have been on my TL here for a long time and never had any interest. This seems like this will be a good way to get rid of some clutter.

So from what I can understand about this site and its trading system is that it is practically done mechanically, with both parties involved with the trade of game-for-points going through an automated line process. When I get an email verifying a trade is ready I just accept, the trader gets the points and sends the game? Is all of this about right?

I changed one of my picks to DBZ Budokai 3 for PS2 hoping that more people are willing to trade that than Guilty Gear X2.

The system of Goozx seems odd. I used Gametz YEARS ago back when the it had a ugtz url. I wasn't liked (maybe thats an understatement) but I had over like 400 trades.

PC games are real slow movers, but just look up the game on the website and it will tell you whether or not it can be traded. e.g Lost planet can not be traded on the PC, some end user agreement bullshit.

It depends on the game. I'm new to Goozex, but I've had a game go from "long wait" to out the door in less than a week. Other games are going to be much slower. One helpful tip others have brought up is to check the "trading info" tab for the game to give you a clearer picture of the "line". For example, some of the games I listed had long lines, but hardly anyone in front of me was "Ready."

On the other hand, I was thinking of picking up Crackdown on clearance and trading it, but noticed there are 160+ copies listed as ready and less than 30 requests listed as active (and none as ready). That might take a while. :D

That's exactly right. If you're open to both games you mentioned, I'd add both to your list. There's no limit to how many open requests you can have; the first one that matches will just deduct from your point total. Goozex can be really surprising sometimes in what comes available.

goozex is great. i had a crapload of unwanted ps2 games i picked up along with 3 used ps2's i bought over the years. traded a bunch of those games away(games that im sure gamestop gives no more than a buck or two for.. 50 cent bulletproof, 25 to life, eternal darkness, etc) and picked up some games like crimson skies, animal crossing ds, kirby canvas curse ds(after i heard the ships talking about it), shenmue 2, and parapa the rapper 1. sent kirby canvas back out after a tore through it to get my points back, and animal crossing will be going back out soon. love love love it.

Uh, that should have happened when you signed up. In fact, I don't think you even can sign up without entering an address. If you mean you want it shipped to a different address, I don't think that can happen without updating the address you signed up with. Otherwise, you don't need to do anything. The seller will confirm and ship the game and you just wait.

Huh? It's not a retail site like the ones you mentioned, so some games (especially newer ones) will have some wait time. Based on your impatience, I'd say goozex is probably not right for you, but if you change your mind I don't see how it can hurt to reopen the account and throw a 100 point game on your list and wait. I mean, it's a free game. Who cares if it takes a little while to get?

This just seems too good to be true even though the site is respectable and people have reported it to be legitimate. Forgive me if this has been asked numerous times, but I want to be absolutely clear with my understanding of how this site operates.

All I have to do is pick a game worth 100 points and it will be free (I already signed up)? Meaning no pay for shipping or anything of that sort? No need for me to give a game in return for the free game or anything?

The thing I like about Goozex is that you get pretty good value for some old games Gamestop wouldn't even take if you paid them. Also the games I have received have been in pristine condition except one. The trade off is that you have to wait a bit, but at least you get some games in collectible condition without paying exorbitant prices.

Nope. Absolutely no strings attached - it's a Goozex promotion for new users to attract business to the site.

I've had absolutely no problems with them - my 100 point game was Halo 2 (during the two weeks or so it was 100 points). Since then, I've traded on there several times and have had no problems since.

I think that was my brother who got that :)

I just signed up last week and I shipped out my first two games today. I should get 1250 points for the two plus my signup bonus. I now have enough points to get any game when it comes out (they're typically 1000 points). It won't work for those games I have to have on launch day, but it will work on secondary titles I'm interested in.

BTW, anyone know how many stamps it will take to ship a normal package? I have 8.5"x11" envelopes to store your typical console game. The weight is about 5 oz. for a typical package. I shipped it by USPS first-class today, but I'm looking to see if there's an even cheaper way/way I don't have to go inside the post office. Maybe 2 stamps? Thanks in advance.
