It can't possibly be worse than the $20 headsets Microsoft sells, but I would only buy this if you were already thinking of getting a Microsoft one.

Would this work on an original Xbox? I only want one for Manhunt.

This doesn't work on xbox, only xbox 360. the one for xbox plugs into the memory card slot and then just uses a standard headset (I used it with my cellphone) while the 360 one seems like it just uses the regular headset jack but has a weird plastic cup so you cant plug it into a phone.
So, no, only xbox 360.

I've used a bunch and my favorite mic is my old cell phone mic. Plugs right in. The great part about using those is that they plug straight into Rockband guitar/drums w/o having to use the horrible little dongle they come with.
Only problem w/ using a cell phone mic is that you have to manually adjust the volume in your Voice menu in Personal Settings.

These are probably sourced by the OEM who makes the official ones for MS.
Just without the MS logo.
You can find this kind of thing a lot actually.
