Battlestar Galactica XBL Game 400pts ($5) on Saturday

Advertised on the Xbox LIVE blade ads, the Battlestar Galactica downloadable game will be 400 MS points ($5 U.S.) this Friday, April 4th in a tie-in promotion with the season premiere of the TV show.

Saw this ad before and was interested. Does anyone have any opinions on this game? I could just download the trial, but before I waste the time, is this one a good Arcade title? Thanks.

I could be mistaken, but the BSG used Xbox game isn't the same thing as the XBL arcade game. It's a simple game. If you're a fan of the show it might be worth 400 points. I might bite.

The game got an average review rating of 55/100. C+ on 1up's reader reviews. Not the best game but if you're a big Battlestar fan, you can spend $5 worse ways. The same game sell for $20 on the PC.

Different game based on the "classic" Battlestar Galactica. Heard that one was decent if a little on the hard side.

I'm a huge BSG fan (watching an ep as I type this, even) but this game is crap. Not even $5 worth. I'd save it for something else instead.

I agree, this game is just as bad as Wing Commander on XBLA. Avoid!

Here's feedback from a guy who bought the full game: it half-assedly attempts to recreate battles from the series, from "33" to "Exodus". It uses the "Wing Commander" pretty much to a hilt. You can play as either Colonial or Cylon ships (Mark II & Mark VII Vipers, Cylon Raiders, Heavy Raiders, Raptors) in different missions, but that's really it. Play the demo, and that's really it.

Unless you're a huge fan of the show don't pick up this game, it's nothing special. Even if you are a fan of the show I would recommend downloading the demo first.

I did recently order the Star Wars Empire at War expansion pack so I could play the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Wars mod though, I'm really looking forward to getting it.

I agree. To me it seems like a typical brain dead arcade game from the mid-80s. It wasn't worth the time to download the demo.

Err...that said I'd say the same thing about the majority of the "Arcade" library. Oooh, another Robotron clone! :roll: (not saying this is a Robotron clone, just that seemingly half the games on there are Robotron clones...)

EDIT: No offense if you like Robotron intended, just realized this post was insulting for people who do. Nothing wrong with it, I just need games with more of a story and/or progression.

The general consensus is the XBLA and retail games are different, and that the XBLA title sucks, but either way, I wouldn't trust 1up for anything, they suck ass.

I downloaded the trial game and it was not that great. I will just watch the show, sad its the last season, but there is going to be the spin-off Caprica, so maybe that will get a full season....?

The XBLA game (totally different game) is shit.

It's an interesting idea, I mean I'd love to see it, but at the same time I'm never sold on the whole prequel thing. Though I'm sure it would be great if Ron Moore and the same people are back on it.
