Not bad, definitely better than buying those games separately. :)

These games run pretty smooth without high end specs. Ran them fine on an AMD 3000+, radeon 9800 pro and 1 gig ram ddr. Now running great with an AMD FX 54, radeon X1650pro 1.5g ddr ram.
These are considered low end with dual core and quad core and DDR2 memory @ 1066mhz now. Basically you just need a computer built within the last 2 years and a $100 video card.

Nice deal if you don't have it. Got mine at BB on black friday last november for about 25. Highly recommended.

Jumped on this now, since I was an idiot and decided "i already had too many games" (that never happens) last time it went on sale.

I picked this up when Amazon had it for 29.99 a few weeks back...it is a great deal and even runs pretty well on my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505, 1GB memory, 1.83 GHz processor)...the online community is really large, definitely worth picking up for those who haven't gotten around to it yet.
*Steam gives you a "gift" version of HL2 that you can e-mail to friends if you have already purchased Half-Life 2 separately (possibly the other games too, but idk), which makes the deal even better.

I spammed the parents until they bought it for me on Black Friday. It was totally worth the effort.

This is cutting it close for my budget, but I told myself I'd get it the next time its on sale. So yeah. Ordered. Really looking forward to Portal and TF2. I used to be a fan of TFC back in the day, so it should be fun to try this out.

I probably should buy it now since I do want Portal and Half Life 2 Episode 2, but geez, my backlog...and I also want Sins of the Solar Empire, and Galactic Civilizations 2, and Age of Empires 3 (which WILL NOT DROP IN PRICE!), and Civ 4, and...

PC, hands down. There are so many Half Life mods and TF2 custom maps available that you're cutting out so much potential if you play it on a console. Not to mention you have a 32 player limit in TF2 compared to 16 on console. You can't even have all the classes on one team!

Not right now, it's $50 on Steam.

No kidding, there's no comparison. Much better control, graphics, add ons, etc. (plus you can play without running a blender in the same room). Unless you're connecting to the internet through an Evilla :D

My work laptop is an HP with the Intel X3100 integrated video and it's playable, though not fantastic

Hm well I'm gonna try redownloading steam and redownloading my Counterstrike 2 and see how it runs on my laptop first (previously played it on my other laptop which had a dedicated vid card)

Can this be installed completely to the HDD and run without the disc present?
And would controlling it be difficult with a laptop and mouse compared to a regular keyboard??
Hmm, wonder if I should bite now or hold out for $30 to come around again....

To play this you need the Steam client (it comes with the Orange Box if you don't already have it on your comp). Just Wiki or Google Steam to find out what it is. One of its main draws is you never need the CD/DVD of a game once it's installed. When you open the Steam program on your computer, you'll see a list of installed games and an option to play them. Everything is stored on your HDD and no disc is required.
I play on a laptop too. laptop keyboard are fine for gaming but I'd recommend playing with a standard mouse instead of the laptop touchpad.
Also, the Orange Box is still an amazing deal for $35. You get 5 great games there. If money is tight, you can always wait for it to be $30. It was $30 on Amazon almost 2 months ago.

Hey Bob what video card do you have on your Dell Laptop? I have the exact same one minus dedicated video card though.

Glad I waited to pull the trigger on this one. Just ordered a new PC that should be here tomorrow so I picked up the orange box for $15 off and can't wait to play it!

I wonder if this will hit DotD again, since next week all of these games come out individually, and much more expensive to boot.
