This coupon is going to be dangerous on $20 accessories and cheaper priced DS games.

Fantastic. I got one right on the way to my university, I can pick up a ds case before I got to class.
So I can just print it out and get a <10 item for free, with no bitching...nice. I wonder if I can use this on a few occasions, like each day, 4/4, 4/5, and 4/6. If anyone has a request that I can get for free maybe I'll pick one up for you...

This is quite a generous offer from Microcenter. They must not like carrying <$10.00 games and accessories... :)
I'm also thinking this coupon code is not unique, either. I got the e-mail and opened it on my desktop and then opened the link in this thread on my laptop - both coupons were identical.

So it'll work if I try to use it tomorrow?
Hmm, that might be a nice way to get some cheap Marketplace Points for the Xbox 360...
Wouldn't this also make the Wii Nunchuk $10?

Does anyone know if this will work on Microsoft Points, I was thinking the same thing.
Does microcenter ever run promotions on full-price videogames in-store? I have one about a half hour away, but $10 off will wash out in gas if I head out there for nothing.

I was all set to go to Micro Center then I saw this line "Some products may be excluded". We'll see how easy it is to use and how many items it covers soon enough.

I just stopped by and picked up a copy of PGR3 for Xbox 360 with the coupon. It was $9.99, and I owed $0.01 cent to the cashier to take my prize home. Wartech is the only other $9.99 Xbox 360 game...
I'm not sure if this works on MS points or not (that was my intent), but their regular price for 1600 points is $24.99 (so its not as good a deal as it could be, assuming it works).
Wii Zapper for $10?
Wii Points for $10?
Is there a page on microcenter.com that links to the coupon? (Just want to be prepared if they give me trouble with the coupon.) Or was this in an e-mail?
I also got a postcard in the mail from them for a free 2GB thumb drive so maybe I'll drive over and pick that up at the same time. :D

Which Microcenter did you go to to get your Wii Points. The one in Falls Church, VA are a$$holes and won't let any console points be used with the coupon. The manager was a real sh1t head so I said, fine I won't buy anything at all, and I had about $400 worth in my cart. He didn't even change his mind on it so I just walked out the store. He followed me out side and said that was real class and I said screw you the coupon doesn't exclude points and I just drove off.

Also got a 1600 point card. Sucks that they charge $25 for it regularly. But $15 is still better than $20, which is what it costs most places.
Incidentally, has anyone tried using this more than once yet? They put my name and information in the computer, and I wasn't sure if it was for marketing purposes or to track my usage of the coupon.

Man, that's fucked up. But TECHNICALLY, while it doesn't specifically exclude points on the coupon, it DOES say "Some items may be excluded," so they were well within their rights to declare them off limits, even though another store might not.

So I went back to the Fairfax/Falls Church, VA Microcenter after lunch, since it is only 1 mile from my work, and I needed the exercise. So I used 3 printed out coupons for a total of 3 times. The manager was gone for the day - horray! So this was my strategy. Ask for the Wii Points, told the idiot cashier it's an accessory and finally he was not lazy and scanned it, and of course it worked, so I paid cash, no entering my name in the computer and then sealed the bag and went back again, bough a Nyko re-charging station for the Wii Motes - for $19.95 it's a good price and I love the one I got for my 360. Better than stupid rechargable batteries and they last longer on the charges. In anycase, then I went back again for another Wii Points, again, paid cash. But each time I went to the front, I went to a different cash register. Bang, 4000 Wii Points for $19.98 that's sweet!
I saw Baten Kaitos Origins for $19.99 but I didn't get it since it's such an older RPG but they had 2 copies if anyone is interested. Also, they had Viewtiful Joe 2 for $9.99 but my Microcenter would not allow any game under $10 be used with the coupon. Even though it states you can use the coupon for anything under $10, NEW or USED Games or Accessories.
Now that's a good day at Microcenter. I actually got stuff I will really use and not get some game that I might play for 1 or 2 hours and get bored too fast. That seemed that way for most of the Gamecube games....

if they really charge $25 bucks for it then it's obviously not worth the trouble, but at the regular 19.99, 15 bucks for something that costs 9.99+tax seems very reasonable to me and you don't have to pay postage. Just me pm the code.

Went to the Microcenter in Richardson, TX and picked up Wartech Senko No Ronde and PGR3 for a penny a piece. The cashier was astounded that I got the first one for one cent, so I gave him one of my printouts of the coupon and he let me do PGR as well. My friend was with me and got both of those games as well. They are no out of Wartech, but have twenty or so copies of PGR3 that are in a bin on the left side of the games area.
Two games for two cents, not too shabby.

Yup. The 1600 point card is $25 chainwide, and the 4000 point card is $60. Seems kind of unfair, especially when the Nintendo points are priced dollar for dollar, but there you go. I will say that the intentionally confusing point system Microsoft uses enables this kind of foolishness.

Oh I believe it, too many times I have walked out of that store without buying anything. Their customer service has gotten worse over the years and it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to find someone to help you. Sometimes they won't even honor their own policy or promos and you have to stick it to them (as long as you have the paper work), then they back down.

I grabbed Crisis Core earlier without any problems. The cashier thought the coupon was a great deal. Think I might go back tomorrow and see if there's anything else I want.
It's strange to hear everyone complaining...I've had nothing but really good experiences at my MC. Usually the people on the floor are attentive, and I've had a few go above and beyond for me and my family. Oh, and it's about half a mile from my house, so I'm there way too often.

It all depends on the management. My local store had some really great customer service a long time ago but now a days just to get them to honor their own promo that is not in the sales paper (like the ones over email) is like pulling teeth.

I guess ITDEFX and I shop at the same Microcenter. Our MS is just crap. They should tear it down, rebuild and hire competent people. I heard the Rockville, MD one is great, but it's just too far for me to drive. Not worth with it being $3.30 for gas these days. I can tell you the one in Boston is far superior to the one in Virginia. Cleaner, brighter, way smarter staff (usually all college kids in Computer Engineering or Science attending MIT/Harvard/BU) so they always seemed to know what was going on and also taught me stuff when I was first dabbing with CPU overclocking years ago.

The Store is good, the management and workers are mostly (but not all) are bad. Avoid that nerdy looking tall guy in the upgrade area who always, and I do mean always wears a suit and tie while everyone else just wears button shirt. That guy always tries to hammer you with extended warranties on even the smallest/cheapest items, while everyone else leaves you alone. It also irks me when put their name/bar code sticker on every item you have in your hands. It's like if your cart has a number of items and you have a simple question, they will answer that and then say "btw, let me just tag those things for you before you check out.."even though they did not help you with those items. I usually take the tags off before I hit check out. Earn your damn commission yourself!! Heck I have seen a number of items on the shelf with store employees tags on them already.

I think he ment Fairfax since there are no other MC's in the state. However I would hate to be at that off ramp exit when an accident hits as WTOP news reports almost every other day another accident in that area slowing traffic going east on 66 to a crawl. :bomb:

Well that is certainly odd as I went into this same MC and walked out with a free copy of PGR3 (sidenote, they had a fuckton of PGR3).
I've never had any problems whatsoever at this MC. I bought my mom a DS there around Christmas when they had the two 20 bucks off DS games coupons. I used both coupons, one for a free Big Brain Academy (for mom) and a discounted Phantom Hourglass (for me). All transactions were quick and smooth. Maybe I've just been lucky...but I doubt it. Perhaps one makes their own luck?
I'm just disappointed that they had no Phoenix Wright: AA: T&T :(

I talked to someone in the games section and told them they wouldn't sell too many 1600 points cards at a $5 markup from every other store. He responded that if I bring in an ad from another store they'll match the price. If I can apply the coupon after that I'll be out of the store for $10. Not bad but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Let me know if anyone attempts this and is successful.

It was $100 microcenter mail-in rebate, and then there was some kind of deal with their CC that if you sign up and spent $399 you received XX bonus points that can be cashed in for a $100 check.. effectively netting you a premium 360 for $199+tax
This was way back in late 06/early 07 though. LONG dead deal.

no, you print one coupon and grab as much stuff as you can in one trip.

Not a bad coupon at all. Used it twice. First time on the 2000 wii point card for $10. Next, on Obscure2 for the PS2 for $10. I know most reviewers think Obscure stinks, but what the hell, $10 for a two week old release ...

Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the internet. It just makes you look like a dick, especially since it's a valid question (since some coupons allow for an unlimited number of items, and this coupon doesn't specify). Try to be more helpful next time.
it all depends on who you get as a cashier and if the manager on duty is a dick about it. If you store is cool, then you can make out like a bandit, if they are strick, then they will say 1 coupon per transaction per customer.
I was only able to pull 4 items out of 12 because I only had 4 coupons. So tomorrow I go back.

i was very ecstatic until i found out after i bought it that it was a used copy. =( i dont like buying used but whatever. still a good deal since it still goes for $35 at Gamestop.

How did things look on promo day two? Plenty of stock, or picked over?
I went today (Saturday) to the Micro Center in the OC.
They had a pretty good selection, though their prices are high enough that there weren't a whole lotta things I would have considered a deal. My decision was between DS Wordjong (19.99), DS Bust a Move Dual Screen (or whatever, 19.99) and PS3 Transformers (used, 24.99).
I looked through their used games, and nothing really leaped out at me. The really good games were really expensive. I might have bit on PS3 Warhawk, but that doesn't just seem the best fit for me.
PS3 Transformers won the day. It's not the best game, but getting it at 14.99 plus tax is about what I would want to pay for it, and is roughly equivalent to a 25%off coupon at Gamestop.
I expect more coupons in the future. I was impressed by the number of used games for sale, but the prices (even with a $10 off coupon) were awful, so I don't see them moving much used merchandise otherwise.

There was this older African American behind me with glasses who had the same coupon but got kinda frustrated when the cashier was making me ring up 1 coupon per transaction. :(

I love doing stuff like that at retail that tries to screw the customer (protip: it's usually how you get the best deals).

I used 3 coupons this afternoon to pick up PGR3, an MS wood-y faceplate, and one month of LIVE Gold (usually $7.99). I might've picked up Wartech as well, but I didn't have a fourth coupon on me. Chicago-area CAGs, there's more than a dozen PGR3s left in a separate bin an aisle or two over from the 360 games; I didn't see it at first and was afraid they were all sold out. Have at this sale -- and thanks, OP!

Tons of PGR3 at the Sharonville, OH store (At least, 15 copies). Picked up two copies for a friend and I. Also, Let my son pick out a used game. After picking up some XBLA points at the Marietta, Ga. location on Friday, wife and I drove up to check out the stock at the Duluth, Ga. location today. Was planning to get maybe some Wii points and more XBLA points, but man, they had a lot of stuff! Ended up getting a used but mint copy of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Game of the Year Ed. for $45 and a used mint copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360 for $9. The system at my store only allows 1 item per transaction to be marked down. Employees must be overriding the prices manually. It's going to throw a red flag when management sees this. They might let it go because they are small items and not big ticket stuff. But damn, if they weren't so strict you could have walked out with 12 or more 1 month live cards for free. PRG3 is a good game but most people have the game anyways.
Eventually price overrides are going to require a manager approval into the system like what best buy has now.

The whole thing took 2 min tops. No crap about having to buy anything else. Just my game an "Have a good day".

Agreed. Why all the drama, ITDEFX? Considering not a single other CAG (well, except maybe Soundwav) had these sorts of problems, I can't help but draw the conclusion that you went in with a confrontational demeanor or an excessive sense of entitlement. Maybe you just have really, really bad luck. Didn't need to play the race card, either.
We all need to remember that these deals depend upon the generosity of the retailer. They do not owe us anything, and if you walk in there like you own the place, get into shouting matches with the management, or walk up to the register with a stack of 10 items expecting discounts on all of them, you can't honestly be surprised when you are met with some degree of resistance.

Well maybe it was that cashier then. I didn't go in there with guns blazing since I have been reading how everyone was getting to use 1 coupon for multiple items on one transaction. Like I said in the post yesterday, the other cashier made me ring up each coupon on multiple transactions and he was taking a long time that a line was forming. All I wanted today was a 360 controller battery and 1 month live card. The battery after coupon would have come to 2 or 3 dollars and the card 1 penny. It wasn't worth waiting around to fight for it so I left because I had other things to do. Some people have good luck, other times they don't. Oh well.

If it was just a few people, shouldn't be an issue. Any promo is going to have people that overdo it...just as long as it wasn't too rampant, this coupon may come back again.
And just to clear up any procedural questions, the coupon was created specifically to only work once per transaction. To avoid potential management intervention and checkouts that take longer than normal, just use one coupon. Baddabing, you're in and out in no time!

Got VCS for $10, thanks.
Used this on Saturday and picked up PGR3 for free and Tetris Evolutions for $10. (Both 360)
Overall Microcenter's prices for games absolutely suck. I was thinking of picking up Prof. Layton (DS) but they had it marked at $35. Also maybe going to get a 1600 points card but those were $25. Beyond that most stuff that has been marked down long ago most other places is still MSRP there. I think they added games not too long ago and I don't see them lasting if they don't rework their pricing system.
I probably would have picked up a Wii Zapper instead of PGR3 but they didn't have any in stock. (Assuming they wouldn't have also been $5 over MSRP.)
I didn't try to buy more than one game on a coupon myself. I went with a friend and we each had a coupon and each bought one of the games.
