MS played a boat load of money to get exclusive missions. How big they will be has yet to be confirmed. Already stated that the Xbox 360 version will be superior because of the content. I have never played a GTA on Xbox but this content will probably sway me to buy the 360 version.

Not sure, but I thought I read they would be framed. Also, my Blockbuster is carrying the Special Collector's Edition with the lock box, art book, duffle bag, and soundtrack. The store manager also said that anyone who preordered the collector's edition would also get the art piece. This works with both Ps3 and X360.

From the earlier info I got I was under the impression the Blockbuster bonus was a 5' by 9' (emphasis feet) poster with frame (I assumed it was the same poster as BB), the frame part didn't make much sense to me. The rest of their GTAIV deals are all for regular price and don't seem to have any extras, in case you were wondering.

As someone else already said, they must have been doing and saying ANYTHING to get you and others to pre-order, since I doubt they'll take off 20% of the cost of the game JUST to get you in the door.

Oh and I put down $5 credit I had laying around on a card on a pre-order at FYE, where I got <snicker> a tub of microwave movie popcorn as my 'pre order bonus'.

I'm shocked people are still asking this. It's a dead certainty the 360 will have exclusive content and has been confirmed by Rockstar themselves. The rumors that are going around is that the first DLC released will not just be a few missions, but basically an expansion pack "Liberty City Stories" type of thing. They're expected to release details within a month of the release.

MS didn't pay $50 million for something that is going to be on both systems. It's been confirmed that PS3 will eventually get DLC, but it will not even come close to what the 360 is getting and wont be until after the 360 has gotten theirs.

I have both systems, and am a fanboy of neither, in fact I prefer my PS3, but if you have both, 360 is without question the way to go.

Just to clear some things up... the faceplate at Game Crazy is for Reg or Spec Ed 360 GTA POs only. You can PO either version of GTA- as long as the store has enough to cover POs (we got shorted on the Crisis Core PSP cases)....and you will be getting them when you pick up your PO. We don't want people to PO the game for just the faceplate & then turn around and cancel a few days later.

Yes, I AM THAT EASILY AMUSED, so sue me. Hell, I still pop in Vice City to do 'Brown Thunder' missions with the Hunter attack chopper(at last count, I was up to over $310 million dollars due to doing 100 levels at a shot usually).

Now, if GTAIV has at least an attack chopper you can hijack, if not full on jetplanes to crash and cause destruction with, then I'll be super happy. :lol:

We got the Universe at War faceplates about a week before the game came out. I hope this happens with the GTA faceplates. Also, all stores should know about it because it was plastered on the front of our March ad last month (wish I still had an ad so I could post a pic).

I've got various editions of the game regularly popping up in my Gold Box "Quick Picks". Based on my experience, if you put something in your Amazon wish list, it will not appear in your Gold Box; what they offer you is usually something related to things you have purchased in the past. (Using their database of "people who buy this often buy this," I figure.)

If you want to get the Amazon.com license plate, and planned on getting the strategy guide (like me, I'm a collector type), I recommend just ordering the guide first. Check the Gold Box every day after that; probably within a week you'll get offered the version of GTA4 you want at 5% off. I would not be surprised if preorders for other big-name games did the trick, too. (I think Amazon is relating the 360 version of GTA4 to Gears Of War 2, for one.)

YMMV, of course, but I think that's the most likely way to game the system.

I am pretty sure the poster is folded up inside the crappy pre-order boxes. So it looks lame and its going to have really bad creases as its folded about 8 times to fit into the box. Def not a deal breaker.

No, I got them right when I pre-ordered it, License plate, stickers posters, ect. The License plate is metal and full size like you would put on your car. It was a special package that the store got.

Ah, I was planning on doing the same thing too... however, I haven't been able to get on any good "just released" titles since I got COD4 the first week of its release - I was a new member at the time but got real lucky with the $10 Black Friday coupon they gave out around then (all told it cost me $41).

But lately I can never seem to time my returns right; it takes two days for my stuff to arrive at their warehouses, but for about a week or two my post office apparently had used that "Fast Shipping" method where the games shipped about a day earlier, ruining my chances of nabbing Condemned 2 at the time. Within the past 3 returns though the Fast Shipping never came up again. So I'm just hoping my timing doesn't get borked again...

Seriously, dude? You don't even have top read the whole seven and a half pages leading to your post; there's a "search this thread" function at the top of the page.

That said, online retailers will generally ship the day before street date IF they have product in time. GameStop is claiming they will ("Online orders will begin shipping on 4/28") so it's likely you can get it on release date if you preorder with overnight shipping.

Nobody is ever going to guarantee that, though, because there can be shipping cock-ups both coming from the manufacturer and then coming from the e-tailer's distribution center. Then again, buying at a brick & mortar isn't guaranteed, either; my EBGames Assassin's Creed preorder arrived in store a day late, and it would have been two days if the store's manager hadn't personally driven out to the local distribution center to pick it up. So it would seem that the thing to do would be to buy it on release day wherever it's in stock; of course even THAT assumes that stores have sufficient stock to cover preorders and then some. Which is probably safe to assume with a big title like this... a poorly managed GameStop might pull the no-preorder-punishment crap on you, but every big chain is going to have boxloads of GTA4.

I questioned whether that was a real deal because their big advertisement on the internet made no mention of it, only the gamerpics. Someone seemed very confident that GC would have the faceplate, and I don't think he responded when I asked about whether it was for real or just the gamerpics. I'll edit the OP now. I hope to edit it with all updated info soon. I've been busy & scanning the thread for major things to update in the meantime.

I'd have a 10% discount as well, but I've canceled the service for ONE month because my 360 RROD'ed at the time (now I have a ps3 as well) and I didn't want to pay $22 for the games to just sit there. Well, stupid me, the 360 came back in record time and I lost all my rewards. Oh well.

The code for the pics should be under the download section of Amazon media library. That's what the pre-order page says now and thats where mine was. Kinda weird.

It would probably be hard for them to drop the price for you now... it was back on the morning of January 2. I had mine pre-ordered since November of last year. When I heard it dropped on here it was about a week later and I shot them an email saying that I saw that it had dropped and waited to see if it would auto-adjust in price as per their pricing policy for pre-releases. I stated that it hadn't and asked to have the price adjusted and they did it for me.

Just a heads up, I went and preordered GTAIV from Best Buy (I only bought it there because I have a gift card) and the gamer pics and poster are pretty weak. There are 4 pics of people that are nothing special and pretty boring and only 1 is a goofy closeup of Niko. The poster is the biggest joke. It's folded up to hell in a tiny cardboard box. I went to that HWV and bought about 20 HD DVDs when the were getting dumped, but that wasn't at Midnight for the release event of THE gangsta thugz favorite franchise ever. I used to live about a quarter-mile away in the late-Seventies and it was a rough 'hood then, but now it rivals the more run-down parts of Iraq for sheer devastation. tell y'all how it'll likely go down: greasy chubby employee - 1, customer - zero. it'd prolly be just like with this generation's console launch or even certain b&m clearances, when there's a profit to be made, rest assured some greedy employee will hoard if they can get there hands on it.

example - When we went to buy a PS3 on launch day at a local GS, we were told the store had received a shipment of 10 units, but upon inquiring what had happened to the last 3 (as there were only 7 peeps in line ahead of us, somehow the units mysteriously were unaccounted for) the manager wouldn't tell us whether they had been sold or not, but would not deny they had received them, just plainly stated he didn't have them. go figure.

DAMMIT!!!! And here I was gonna try and get Best Buy to honor the 10% off any small appliance coupon(from the USPS' Moving Guide package of coupons) towards a 360 in store. But, with this kind of deal, I may have to bite. Although, I really didn't wanna pay CASH for my copy of GTAIV since I have so much credit @ FYE now.

Any chance CC will sell out of the game early? Also last time I went to a CC they had the game but they it was in the storage area instead of on the floor, even though it had been out for weeks. Hopefully with GTA IV that won't happen right?

I'm wondering if the deals will change at all before release? I'm hoping for a discounted MS Points card, say the 1600 points for 10.00 or something with purchase of GTA IV. That would certainly get me in a store. Best Buy did it for the Halo 3 release, so precedent is there.
